The Legend of the First Pokemon
The world of Pokemon; A vibrant place full of colors and life. It is a word full of wondrous creatures with awesome powers. Some Pokemon inhabit the world in great numbers, interacting with one another and the humans that populate it. Others lie in a deep sleep, long gone from the world, waiting for the chance to rise once more. Then, there are some Pokemon basked in legend. These special beings are spoken of in hushed tones and reverence. They are even worshiped as deities. Each culture has their own beliefs on the matter, and each speaks of different legends. Perhaps, no legend is spoken of more in the Kanto Region than the Pokemon said to be that from which all others are descended from. The Legendary Mew. Born as the creator's first work, Mew is fabled to have spawned countless species of Pokemon. Yet, no one in the modern era has definitively proved the existence of this being. Is the legend true? Does Mew exist? What powers could such a creature hold? Nobody alive knew for certain, but some were about to find out.
A Lost Jungle (A Few Days in the Past)
Deep in a jungle, hidden away from the world of today, a small pink creature rested peacefully in a bubble beneath the calm waters. Two tiny legs, two short hands, and a long tail completed the prominent features of this being. It slept in its serene state, unburdened by the troubles of the outside world, just as it had done for many years. As if from nowhere, dark energy slowly appeared, encapsulating the bubble the little creature slept in. Slowly it spread, seeking to envelop the entirety of it and the precious cargo within. Eyes opening, the tiny being let out a powerful psychic shockwave, destroying its protection and scattering the darkness away. Rising from the waters, the creature tilted its head in confusion. What had woken it up from its nice nap? The loud rumbling from the skies drew its attention upward and turned the confusion into a frown. Something was very wrong in the world. It was time for the creature to find out what. Flying high out of the jungle, the creature gave a single cry to signal the start of its journey.
"Mew."
Cinnabar Island (1 Day After Ash's Gym Battle)
"Stupid tourists," grumbled the boy under his breath, rain pouring down on him and his friends. Just as when they arrived on the island, the Pokemon Center was still packed to the brim. The rooms remained booked, the lobby packed, and the cafeteria filled to bursting. Ironically, hardly anyone needed the Pokemon Center for its intended purpose. Ash and his friends were happy to take advantage of this fact, giving their Pokemon over to Nurse Joy for a check up and recovery session after the recent Gym Battle. Due to said crowding of the Pokemon Center though, the trio were informed that their Pokemon wouldn't be returned until the next day, which saw them trudging back to the Big Riddle Inn, and now back to the Pokemon Center the following morning.
"So, Ash, what's the plan?" Misty asked, breaking the boy out of his glowering, as they walked through the elements to the Pokemon Center.
"What do you mean Misty?" Ash responded perplexed. The girl rolled her eyes at his seemingly never-ending obliviousness to all things that did not revolve around Pokemon.
"You have 8 badges Ash. There are roughly 5 months until the annual Indigo League Conference begins. So, I ask again, what's the plan?"
"Oh. Well, I figured we would get off this tourist trap of an island and catch a boat south, heading straight to Pallet Town. From there, just months and months of pure training before the league," shrugged Ash.
"Your mom gave permission for all of us to camp out at your house for 5 months?" Brock asked with amusement.
"I mean, I haven't exactly asked her…"
"There's also the fact that Brock and I have our own families we miss Mr. Ketchum!" an irate Misty pointed out.
"Ok! I guess I haven't really thought everything through but get off my back! We have loads of time to figure this stuff out. Can we just focus on getting out of this weather? It's really starting to come down," Ash motioned to the sky. Brock and Misty looked up, and indeed things were seeming to get worse.
"So much for the weatherman's prediction," jibed Brock.
"Fine Ash, but we're not done discussing this yet," conceded Misty with narrowed eyes. Their course resolved, the gang took off in a sprint, doing their best to get out of this downpour that seemingly came from nowhere.
New Island
Unbeknownst to the youngsters back on Cinnabar Island, the seemingly innocent spout of poor weather was not simply an isolated incident. Slowly but surely, the storm grew. Soon it would cover every inch of Kanto. Every inch but the eye where the storm grew from. In the highest tower of a large newly built structure on New Island that seemingly appeared out of nowhere, a figure sat in a chair, waving its three-pronged hand with glowing blue energy. Like a puppet master, he, well that's what the creature thought of himself as, directed the events that were taking place all over the region, using awesome psychic powers. Ironic, considering his own subjugation.
"Y-You don't have to do this," weakly voiced the worn human behind him. His own hatred of humans aside, even Mewtwo felt some semblance of pity for the human chained to the wall. The things had its finger removed, was beaten mercilessly, and his own Pokemon, or partners as the human tried to justify, had been enslaved.
At least I would have granted them all a quick death, internally mused the creature, continuing to orchestrate the "natural" disaster.
"Fight it!" semi-yelled the man, falling into a coughing fit shortly after. A dark chuckle of telepathic amusement left Mewtwo at that.
"You think I haven't tried?" He certainly had. At first, the creature had fought mightily for hours, and even days, utilizing the full scope of his power and rage. The more he resisted against these invisible chains though, the more they seemed to tighten. There was also the fact that conscious resistance inflicted a great deal of agony upon him every instant he pressed. Maintaining a semblance of intelligence and some manner of free will was hard enough. Beyond that, there was no fighting the device that drove him to engage in his darker nature, while being subservient to that vile man.
"Try harder!" spat back the red-headed man.
"SILENCE HUMAN!" roared Mewtwo, waving his other hand in the man's direction, and instantly putting him to sleep.
Finally, some peace. I'll have to enjoy what little is left. There will be none in a few hours more.
Indigo Plateau
"Agatha, you must see reason! If the Elite Four falls, then Kanto will be left defenseless," yelled Charles Goodshow. The old crone paid him no mind, continuing to walk down the hallway towards the door where the helicopter waited. Her cane tapping the floor with each step.
"Will you not even entertain the notion of at least one of you staying back?" pleaded the man. Turning back to the man, Agatha gave a small smile and a shake of the head.
"No Charles. If we are unable to end this now, then one person alone would never have been sufficient. You have no reason to worry though, the Gym Leaders have been informed of a potential change in the guard. Further, I reached out to an old friend after our little meeting yesterday. Should the worst come to pass, he and his allies will take up the mantle to preserve Kanto," said Agatha, who resumed her path towards the door.
"Who else exists in Kanto that could possibly stand up to something that even the Elite Four and the Champion would fall to?" blurted out the old man, keeping pace with Agatha.
"Oh, you would be surprised. He has been instructed to reach out to you within 24 hours if I do not contact him first. His name is Scott." By now, they had reached the doors. Outside the rain poured, an unending stream of water falling from the sky. The helicopter waited just 10 feet from the shielded building.
"Agatha… please stay safe." The woman turned one final time, squeezing the old man's shoulder.
"It's been a headache dealing with you these past 30 years… I wouldn't change a thing about it," chuckled the crone. Letting her friend go, she steeled herself and walked outside into the foreboding rain. The others were waiting.
This could very well be the end. Why then I wonder, are my thoughts drawn to that old fool living out in the middle of nowhere…
Pallet Town
Professor Samuel Oak stood on his porch at the back of his lab with a frown. The weather, though unexpected, was not the cause. No, it was the Pokemon that had thrown off the good professor. Normally, the Pokemon at the ranch would take shelter in the trees, with the occasional Water Pokemon walking around in a storm. Despite that, Oak would still hear the sounds of Pokemon grazing, chattering about, and engaging in a wide variety of activities. Being the academic he was, Professor Oak had braved many a storm to study the phenomenon of how Pokemon interacted with the environment and one another in such conditions.
Today though, the man heard nothing. No Water Pokemon were visible either. With his raincoat securely on, Professor Oak confronted the elements once more, heading to investigate the mystery of the Pokemon and their behavior.
Elsewhere in Pallet Town, a concerned mother sat at her table with a hot cup of tea. Delia never liked the rain. Not only was it contrary to her sunny disposition, but it had rained the day she last saw him all those years ago. These were hardly the only thoughts plaguing the woman. She focused on the beacon of light that still brightened her life. Just yesterday, her little Ashy had called her to let her know that he had won his final badge.
"So young and yet just as talented as you were Red," she whispered aloud with melancholy. Ash hadn't said anything else, ever the forgetful boy in all things not related to Pokemon, but she assumed that he and his friends would be along in the next week or so. Having not seen her son since Celadon City, Delia was brimming with excitement, and had already cleaned the house, Ash's room, and prepared guest accommodations for his two friends. Having her boy back home for a few months would be a truly wonderful blessing. A sharp knocking at the door broke her out of her reverie.
"Who could possibly be calling in weather like this?" wondered the woman. Not wanting to leave a poor soul in the cold rain, she hurried along, opening it up without hesitation. A buxom blonde in a red jacket with a baseball cap greeted her.
"Delia Ketchum?"
"Yes, that's me. Can I help you?" kindly asked Delia.
"In fact, you can." Before Delia could react, the stranger delivered a swift punch, knocking Delia out in an instant and then catching her.
"That's two Ketchums now. I really am making this a tradition," giggled the girl to herself. Placing the unconscious Delia on the floor, the girl pulled out a phone and dialed a number.
"Is it done?" questioned the commanding male voice that answered the call.
"Delia Ketchum is in my possession," affirmatively answered the girl.
"Excellent work 009! Send over some evidence and then report to the staging location. Giovanni out," finished her boss, ending the call. Kneeling next to the fallen woman, Domino snapped a quick selfie with her captive and sent it to HQ. Her immediate task completed, Domino effortlessly picked up the woman, and walked out into the rain.
Viridian City Gym Bunker
Deep underground, hidden beneath the prestigious Viridian City Gym, one man slowly sipped his beverage, his lip pulled back into a malicious curl. Everything was going according to plan. The creature had enacted the hurricane as per his command, the Elite Four had departed the Indigo Plateau according to his sources, and Delia Ketchum had been captured. This last facet was evident based on the image sent to him by one of his more competent subordinates. Leaving her alive had been a mistake the last time around with the previous nuisance. In any case, she would serve a purpose in luring the minor irritation known as Ash Red Ketchum to where he was needed. Sending the information on to where it would be used properly, Giovanni turned his mind to the other matter he had been neglecting. The time to right that wrong had finally come. Pressing a button, he spoke into the mic at his desk.
"Ariana, it is time. Bring him to me. Bring me the boy." The presence on the receiving end sucked in a ton of air, stunned by the request, though pleased all the same.
"Yes Giovanni," softly answered Ariana, cutting off her com shortly after. The Rocket Boss let out a sigh and leaned back into his chair. If he were honest, he had been nothing short of negligent with the child. It brought back painful memories of similar treatment he had experienced at the hands of his own mother, who had succeeded him as the Rocket Head. Madam Boss they had called her. She had certainly been ruthless and worthy of respect. Giovanni could attest to that. Her parenting, like his own of late, quite a bit to be desired. He was justified though! The results of the mutual sacrifice were finally bearing fruit. Soon, he would rule. His heir would have a legacy. The three of them could be a family.
Cinnabar Island Pokemon Center
"Here are your Pokemon kids. I have to say, it was a pleasure to actually do my job for once," laughed Nurse Joy.
"Thanks for looking after them," Ash smiled appreciatively, placing the Pokeballs back on his belt, and letting out Pikachu and Espeon. His friends did the same, though not without Brock trying to score a date, which was of course sabotaged by a quick ear grab from Misty, pulling the scallywag away. Chuckling to himself at his friend's antics, Ash followed them into a corner.
"Control yourself!" scolded Misty, subduing the now meekly nodding teen.
"Hey guys, so Nurse Joy mentioned that the weather is delaying all ferries from departing the island for at least the rest of the day. Looks like we're going to be stuck here for a little bit longer," sighed the boy.
"Sorry to hear that," muttered Brock, now recovered from his short ordeal.
"It gets even better. The Pokemon Center is still packed, so we need to head back to Blaine's place and fast," deadpanned Ash.
"And go through that storm outside, which is now raging? I don't think so Ash Ketchum!" argued Misty.
"What choice do we have Misty? It's only going to get worse. I saw we leave while we can," shot back Ash.
"Agreed," nodded Brock.
"But what if Nurse Joy let's us sleep in the lobby? That would be better then going out in that mess, right?" tried Misty. Whatever else the conversation would bring would have to wait. A man with short blue hair and sharp features approached the trio. Ash noticed him out of the corner of his eyes, and though he was wearing a trench coat and a hat, the boy immediately recognized him.
"HEY YOU'RE—"
"Shush now!" interjected Archer, placing a hand on Ash's mouth for a quick moment, and speaking quickly.
"Any loud words or sudden movements will result in disastrous consequences for one Delia Ketchum! Understand?" Ash's eyes widened, while Brock and Misty visibly tensed at the threat. The boy nodded, staring daggers at the blue-haired man. With a cruel grin, the man removed his hand from covering the boy's mouth.
"What do you want Rocket Executive Archer?" whispered Ash in anger, subtly letting his friends know just who they were dealing with.
"Merely to deliver a message," mockingly smiled the man. Pulling an envelope from his trench coat, he passed it to the boy in front of him, with Ash grudgingly taking it.
"Now, I am going to walk out of this Pokemon Center, and you are not going to do anything, but find a nice quiet corner to peruse the contents within," instructed Archer.
Ash bit his tongue and jerked his head towards the exit, allowing the smirking man to leave with no hassle.
"Ash?" Misty said worriedly. The boy brushed her off, ignoring Brock's protests as well. Heading to the restroom and locking himself and his Pokemon in, Ash turned his attention to the envelope. The boy wasted no time and ripped it open. Inside, he found two items. The first was a picture that made his blood run cold.
"Domino…" growled the boy. The Rocket agent was posed, winking at him, next to his unconscious mother in their family home. Team Rocket had his mother. This simultaneously angered and scared Ash beyond belief.
"Daddy, please calm down. Please!" appealed Espeon.
"Pika. Pika!" added Pikachu, nuzzling his trainer. Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself, merely giving his Pokemon a nod, before he focused on the other item from the envelope. It was a flat black device, similar in design to his Pokedex. A single button protruded from it. The boy moved a finger to click it, but sharp knocking stopped him.
"Open the door Ash!" urged Brock.
"Don't shut us out!" added Misty. Those words… that was what his mom has asked of him wasn't it? To keep his friends close. By allowing Team Rocket to take her, Ash had already failed. He would not fail again by disobeying her wishes. Thus, to his friends' great surprise, the door opened.
"Come in quick," whispered the boy.
"But this is the boy's… hey watch it!" Ash yanked Misty inside, while Brock quickly followed, shutting the door behind them, and locking it.
"So, what's the situation?" the teen asked seriously. Ash wordlessly handed over the picture, allowing his friends to catch up.
"Team Rocket has taken my mom. I think this weird black thing I'm holding will tell us more. Without further delay, Ash pressed the button. A hologram of that dreaded man appeared. Face covered in shadows; his malicious smirk was still visible.
"Hello Mr. Ketchum. You know who I am, so I will get to the point. You have served as a minor pest, disrupting more than one of my organization's objectives. I plan on ending that today. If you are listening to this message, then your mother is in our hands. She is alive, held hostage on an island between Cinnabar Island and Pallet Town. You are to come to this island immediately, with or without your friends, it matters not. Although, for their sakes, you might consider leaving them behind lest you get another person killed," laughed the man.
"The device you carry will serve as your guide. Leave the island and head south. It will show you the way from there. Should you not arrive by sunset, I will assume that you foolishly chose to ignore these instructions, and you will find yourself an orphan. Adieu Ash Red Ketchum," concluded the Rocket Boss, the hologram flickering away. Nobody said a word, letting the message sink in. Unexpectedly, it was Ash who broke the silence in a low and steady voice.
"Guys, I have to go and save her. She's done so much for me… I-I can't lose her. If you want to stay behind, I get it. No matter what, you're the best friends I could ever ask for," the boy finished, close to tears.
Brock placed both hands on Ash's shoulders, making the boy face the teen. "Ash, what kind of best friend would leave his buddy behind when it matters most? I'm with you."
"Don't forget about me Ash Ketchum!" interjected Misty, pulling the boy away and into a quick hug.
"Daddy, let's go save your mom!"
"PIKA! PIKACHU!" Ash couldn't help it. A huge grin split across his face, as he wiped the tears from his eyes. He was one lucky kid.
"Ok then. We do this together," agreed Ash.
"Quick problem. How do we get off this island? You said earlier that all the ferries are out of service," pointed out Brock. Ash gave his friend a wink.
"No need to worry. I already have that figured out."
"Really?" Misty skeptically asked.
"Sure. I'll have to lie to Professor Oak, but beyond that, we should be good to go.
The Skies Above the Sea (1 Hour Later)
"YOU SAID THERE WAS NO NEED TO WORRY!" Misty screamed, not that it did her much good. She and Brock where currently hundreds of feet in the air, flying on the back of Ash's Pidgeot, who he had swapped out for Shellder. The speed at which they were traveling combined with the rain, wind, and thunder, drowned out any form of communication. All she could do was hold on for dear life. As for Ash, the boy rode on Charizard alone, Pikachu and Espeon having been forced to return to their Pokeballs for the time being. The boy's face was hardened. One arm was wrapped around Charizard, while the other held the black device firm. From all the flashes and beeping going on, Ash had a feeling that they were getting closer.
"I'm on the way mom."
Pewter City Slate Household
Rain pounded the rooftops and thunder boomed, while flashes of lightning could be seen from the window. The large family huddled together, terrified beyond all belief in a single room. The older of the bunch did the best to provide comfort to the younger ones, but even they were terrified. Flint watched all of this, eyeing the storm, comforting his children, and thinking of his oldest.
"Stay safe Brock," whispered the man.
Cerulean City Gym
"You're tell me that Nugget Bridge has like, completely flooded?" Daisy asked the stressed-out Officer Jenny.
"Affirmative ma'am! The water from the surrounding lakes has expedited the flooding on a dramatic scale. All other exits and entrances to the city have flooded as well," grimly sounded out the Jenny.
"What a bummer. Ok then, go door to door and order the people to take refuge in the show arena. The stadium has plenty of seats and the upper decks will be safe from flooding," ordered Lily.
"With all due respect, what will you three be doing?" wondered Jenny.
Isn't it obvious? We're going to take our Water Pokemon and go help people and Pokemon in need," beamed Violet.
Vermillion City Docks
"SAILOR! I AM ORDERING YOU TO ABANDON YOUR POST AND GET TO SAFETY!" roared the muscular man.
"B-But sir, these goods are worth—"
"FAR LESS THEN YOUR LIFE! NOW MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!" boomed the man, prompting the sailor to run back towards the city.
"Nice work Lieutenant," chuckled one of his two assistants.
"There's plenty more to be done. Let's finish clearing the docks and then move elsewhere," commanded Surge, doing his best to protect his city.
Lavender Town Pokemon Tower
"Mr. Fuji, I think that's all the people and Pokemon accounted for," advised the young teen.
"Much appreciated Arin. Run along now and begin moving everyone to the upper levels," instructed the old man.
"Right away!" answered the youth, going off to do just that.
Thank goodness for those three youngsters who came along a few months back. Otherwise, we'd be dealing with a storm and angry spirits, Mr. Fuji thought with foreboding amusement.
"Now then, time to tackle all these stairs…"
Saffron City Gym
Sat on her throne, Sabrina's senses were cast out into the wider world, trying to grasp the situation at hand. Reports of minor flooding had already reached her ears. This storm though… it was not natural. Her abilities told her that at the very least. Somebody, or something, was making this happen. A powerful psychic. Alas for her, the being had more power than the prodigy of Saffron City, for she could do nothing to stop the storm, or even locate the source.
"Master Sabrina, your orders milady?" asked one of her many students. Snapping away from the outer world, the psychic quickly brought herself back and observed the room. All her students had gathered here in the Gym's battlefield room. She recalled that she had requested them to do so.
"The city is flooding, almost everyone has lost power, and people and Pokemon are in need. Go out and give aid. The Karate Master in the neighboring dojo has surely asked his students to do the same. I will continue to coordinate the response with the league here. Should you have need of me, you know how to contact me.
"Yes Master!" chorused the students, quick to depart. Among them was a girl with purple hair and an Espeon at her side.
"Where are we to go Annabelle?" telepathically asked Espeon, running alongside his trainer. The girl's lips moved not, but she responded all the same.
"To aid our friends at the Pokemon Center."
Celadon City
Flooding wasn't an issue here, but lightning continued to strike the ground, setting fires, and creating destruction with each blast. Already the Celadon City Gym had gone down, the roof collapsed and fire persisting, despite all the rain.
"Keep moving! The department store is just up ahead," Erika urged a young girl and her mother.
"WATCH OUT!" screamed one of her Gym assistants. The Gym Leader looked up, a bolt of lightening bearing down on her. She froze. Another did not.
"SANDSLASH, TAKE THE HIT!" roared a burly boy in a red shirt and with drenched green hair. The mole Pokemon moved fast, leaping into the air, and absorbing the lightning like it was nothing.
"You did good Sandslash. You ok ma'am?" the boy asked in his southern drawl.
"Y-yes. Thank you…"
"AJ. My name is AJ," smirked the boy.
Fuchsia City
"Ariados, use string shot!" ordered the ninja. The creep spider Pokemon fired webs of string, reigning in the unfortunate souls that had fallen into the waters at the city's port.
"Thanks for the save," praised one man, coughing up water.
"Your thanks are not required. Head inland and find safety. My daughter Janine will escort you," responded the ninja.
"Who—" the question was ended when a girl appeared in a flash, also garbed in Ninja attire.
"You called father?" asked the girl, on one knee at his feet.
"Rise and take these people deep into town, away from the water," ordered the ninja, looking to the skies.
"As you say. COME!" yelled the girl, pulling and pushing the group along, and leaving the lone Ninja to his thoughts regarding the message he received from a certain old crone.
It will be no honor to take up the mantel as a member of the Elite Four if it came because of the demise of my predecessors. They must stay safe, and I must protect the people here!
Lightening flashed once more, and he was gone, off to do his duty to the people and Pokemon of Fuchsia City.
Cinnabar Island
"It's just up ahead Sparky! Let's keep going!" urged Ritchie, sprinting through the weather to the inn on the hilltop. Bursting through the doors, the soaked boy and his Pikachu finally made it, escaping the elements.
"You know, you're the second kid in as many days whose run into my inn with a Pikachu by his side," the laughing "hippy" observed.
"You know Ash?" exclaimed Ritchie.
"And so do you apparently," sighed the man, taking off his wig, not wanting to play this game again with everything going on.
"Who are you?" questioned Ritchie, confused at the display.
"I'm Blaine, the Cinnabar Island Gym Leader. There's no time to talk about it. We need to take shelter inside the volcano now," said the man, grabbing Ritchie and dragging him along
"A VOLCANO?"
Viridian City Pokemon Center
The power had long gone out, with only the emergency generators providing the necessary life support to aid the Pokemon who desperately needed it. Not that this fact was on the mind of a certain spiky brown-haired individual. Gary Oak sat in his bed, ignoring the storm that raged outside. One more pertinent raged within his very being. He had finally won his eighth Gym Badge that very day from the Viridian City Gym Leader. It was a good test. One that was worthy of preparing him for his goal. Not to win the Pokemon League, but to defeat a certain someone he would inevitably meet there.
The boy sat, brooding in darkness, staring at the two halves of the Pokeball he held.
You better be ready Ashy boy.
Vaniville Town (Kalos Region)
"That's right Dan. According to our latest scans, a hurricane of epic proportions has enveloped almost the entirety of Kanto."
"And there was truly no warning. This thing came out of nowhere?"
"One day everything was bright and sunny, and the next the hurricane," confirmed the woman.
"That is grim news indeed," added Dan.
"This is Dan and Alexa with Kalos Now, keeping you up to date on the latest news. Stay tuned for more on the storm." Serena heard nothing else, as the TV was unexpectedly turned off.
"Serena, what your doing is not going to help," scolded the girl's mother, holding the remote.
"I know, but I'm worried mom. What if he's not ok?" the apprehensive girl responded.
"Don't you worry about a thing. Everything will be fine," soothed Grace, pulling her daughter into a hug. Contrary to her mother's desires, Serena continued to worry a heck of a lot.
New Island
It felt like days, even if only a few hours had passed. After fighting through the storm, Ash, Brock, and Misty caught sight of a towering structure in the distance on an island. The rain began to lessen, and the cloud circled but did not cover the island.
"I think that's it up ahead," Misty said with relief.
"Yeah, but what's with the calm? Why did the storm stop?" Ash asked, the group getting ever closer.
"We're in the eye Ash. The eye of every storm is always calm," explained Brock.
It was certainly appropriate on a literal and metaphorical level; they truly had reached the eye.
END CHAPTER
Lots of set up work went into this chapter. We have now officially started the three-part saga that is the first movie. As I mentioned, this was the set up. Next will come the main bulk, and then there will be the aftermath. I hope you enjoyed a wide look at Kanto at large. I wanted the Gym Leaders and a few other characters to shine a bit. Hopefully I teased those of you who have been harping about shipping quite a bit as well with a few potential love interests featured.
Next Time – We get to the good stuff. No other spoilers.
Ultron0901 – Thanks for the review! I am glad you enjoyed the battle. I will try to remain faithful to the Elite Four Teams but will fill in where needed. Any competent Elite Four member will have a team of six for battle. Stay tuned for more.
Espeon860 – Thanks for the review! Hope you liked the chapter. The answers to many of your questions come next, but as you can see, Mewtwo did retain a sense of self.
CaptainSammyAngel – Thanks for the review! Glad you liked the villain cliché, and no I could not resist lol. The boss with Volvagia from Ocarina of Time, with Charizard taking the place of the dragon dropping rocks from the ceiling. I simply mentioned that shipping will be determined after Hoenn.
Reader - Thanks for the review! It is a villain trope that I admire. Kind of addicted to writing the bad guys scenes now, so it will be a shame when that inevitably comes to a temporary end soon.
Reader2 - Thanks for the review! You are correct in that Ash seems overpowered. He is overpowered. Well, for Ash Ketchum he is. He is Ash Red Ketchum in this story, so he is just where he needs to be. With respect, if Red could become Champion at the Age of 10, I don't see why his son can't kick butt in battles. That said, I have tried to show him struggle with some manner of losses. Notable ones include Petrel, his draw with Reggie, and Charizard getting knocked out by Magmortar. I also implied that Blaine thought he could have pushed Magmortar to continue fighting for the victory. Ash's first real loss is planned out and it will be a humbling one, which shows plenty of room for growth. Stay tuned to find out when it will happen. As for the Pokemon, yeah some of them probably don't get near enough attention. Bit of a juggling act, but the core Pokemon will always get shown more love. I do like to think that Tyrogue, Ivysuar, and Gengar are good examples of the non core 3 (Pikachu, Espeon, Charizard) that have been given attention. I'm also tossing an idea around about Scyther down the line, but more on that later. Thanks again for your long review! Please keep the critique coming.
Remember to review with your thoughts and critique :)
Smell ya later!
