Chapter 3
Another week had passed and Sandie was settled into her new environment. James continued to spoil her while she continued to see Greg behind his and Lisa's backs. The two of them were inseparable and the sex was hot. Being with Greg, Sandie went back to her old ways of drinking, doing drugs and hard-core partying. She would either come home high, drunk or not at all. James was concerned but he knew he couldn't control her. He never mentioned any of it to Lisa, he pretty much let Sandie be. There were times when she would come home so drunk that they would make out but James had to break it up, he knew he couldn't blow his cover or if Lisa found out she wouldn't be too happy. But then again, nothing made that woman happy except having control over Sandie and being a stuck up bitch. Sure James and Lisa were friends but he was beginning to regret going along with her little plan. He was falling for Sandie and became jealous at the thought of her dating Greg.
The little times he did spend with Sandie were good. They would go shopping or out to eat or he would take her to the movies, Sandie never had it so good. She enjoyed being around James, he didn't try to control her or tell her what to do. Even when she was drinking or high, he didn't seem to care, Sandie liked that about him. Sometimes she wished that they weren't related so she could get him into bed but it seemed like James just wasn't interested in her that way.
One night, James secretly watched her get ready and he could feel himself getting aroused. Her door was barely open but he could still see everything. She had just gotten out of the shower and was still dripping wet. She walked over to the mirror to comb her long, dark hair. She then began to rub lotion on her glistening skin. Oh how he wanted to be in there with her! She slowly got dressed, putting on those tight, black leather pants that he liked so much. She finished dressing and opened the door just as James dashed into the kitchen so she wouldn't catch him watching, hiding his erection in the refrigerator.
"What are you doing, brother dear?" Sandie asked him.
"Uh, um," James stuttered, "looking for something to eat."
"Okay, I'm going out. I'll be back later," Sandie told him.
She gave James a kiss on the cheek then left the apartment. He just stood there, the cold air from the refrigerator killing his hard on.
Sandie headed over to Greg's place, there was no need to knock on the door, he had given her her own key. The door opened and she walked in, Greg's mouth dropped to the floor when he saw her. She was wearing those tight, black leather pants that made him go crazy and a tight, little sweater that showed off her perfect breasts. She walked over to where he sat on the couch and straddled his lap. Without a word, they kissed like there was no tomorrow. Somehow they made their way to the bedroom and in a blind fury had thrown all their clothes onto the floor.
The sex was wild, hot, and crazy. Greg drove Sandie wild and she drove him to the edge, in a good way. He was crazy about her and even though they've only known each other for a couple weeks, it seemed like they were meant to be together. Any guy would be lucky to be with this woman but he was the one that she chose. They made wild love and then ended up in the shower together. Washing each other only turned them on more and once again they ended up making love.
Afterwards, out of breath, they finally decided to get dressed and head out to dinner. Greg took Sandie to one of his favorite night clubs where they ate, drank to their heart's content, danced and overall had fun. Both of them were pretty wasted which made them extremely horny again. They snuck into the bathroom where they ended up having sex once again.
James paced the floor in his apartment. He was sick of waiting, waiting for Sandie to get home. She was out with Greg doing who knows what. He paced harder, he was getting angry. Angry that he had this secret, angry at Lisa for making him keep it and angry at Greg, his best friend, for being able to get with this woman that he was so attracted to. Why did Lisa have to pick him and why did the woman that he swore to protect have to be so damn beautiful?
Finally, the door to the apartment swung open and James stopped pacing, he turned to see Sandie and Greg in the doorway, wrapped in each other's arms, lips locked. After what seemed like an eternity, they let go, said good night and Greg went on his way. Sandie closed the door behind her and saw the look of disgust on her brother's face.
"James, are you okay?" she asked him.
"Yea, just fine," James replied, "I'm just tired."
It was three in the morning and not only did James have to be up for work soon, he noticed that Sandie was drunk, yet again. Not a surprise though, he just wished he could take advantage of the situation.
James yawned and thought he might be able to catch a nap in his office and hoped that Lisa wouldn't pester him when it came time to find Greg who would most likely show up late, since he was just getting home as well.
"You know, you didn't have to wait up for me," Sandie said, waking James from his thoughts.
"Oh yea, I know. I just wanted to make sure you got home alright. I guess I better head to bed. I have an early morning."
James gave Sandie a kiss on the cheek, even though he wanted to do a lot more with her, and headed to his bedroom. He closed the door behind him, leaned against it and sighed. Fatigue had kicked in and he was exhausted, he collapsed on the bed and fell right to sleep.
That night was a restless night for James. He had crazy dreams, mostly about Sandie. He would dream that he was about to make love to her only to find that every time he reached for her, Greg would show up and sweep her off her feet. He was frustrated even in his dreams. Sandie was always just out of reach for him. He awoke sweating and with a hard on and he realized that it was time for him to get up anyway. He headed to the bathroom to try and get some relief with a cold shower.
After breakfast, James headed to work. Exhaustion had hit him and he fell asleep at his desk. A loud knock on his office door awoke him from his sleep. The knocking continued until he got up to answer it. Lisa was on the other side.
"What is it?" James yawned,
He walked back over to his desk and sat down. Lisa walked in and closed the door behind her.
"Late night?" She asked.
"Something like that," James replied. "Did you want something?"
"Have you seen Greg? He's late, as usual, and I need him to take a look at a case."
James was quiet for a minute as he thought of something to come up with. Lisa's stare finally got him to say,
"No, I haven't seen him."
James knew that Greg was sleeping in, probably not really caring about his work or the patients that were waiting for him. Of course as far as anyone knew, he was probably out with Sandie again, perhaps for breakfast or in their case, skipping straight to dessert.
"There's something you're not telling me," Lisa said.
James wanted to tell her to take her secret and shove it up her ass because he was tired of lying to this woman who was making him weak. Instead he said,
"We need to talk."
"Okay, what about?" Lisa asked him.
"It's about Sandie."
Is she causing problems again?"
"No, it's not that. Look, I can't keep lying to her. She has a right to know the truth."
"James, you promised me. You are the best thing for her, trust me."
"Am I really, Lisa? Do you know how hard it is keeping this secret? Pretending to be someone I'm not? How can I be good for her? You wanted to keep her out of trouble but look at her. She's going out with Greg behind your back, probably back to doing drugs and what not. I can't control her, I don't think anyone can. Plus being with Greg, she's out partying at all hours of the night."
"I can't let her go back to prison, James. You can do this, I know you can. As far as her dating Greg, break it up. I don't want her with him, he's no good for her…"
"And you think he's good for you?" James interrupted her.
"Don't change the subject. This isn't about me."
"Isn't it?" James challenged her. "It's always been about you. How you want Sandie to stay hidden so your perfect reputation doesn't get ruined."
Lisa was starting to get angry, "If you want to continue to work here, you'll continue to do this."
Lisa turned and stormed out the door. James was furious, he grabbed the paperweight on the desk and hurled it at the door, shattering it into little pieces. How dare she threaten him with her stupid little secret! Sandie was bound to find the truth sooner or later. James wondered who else knew this secret, the detective that brought her in? He hated Lisa right now and was bound and determined to tell Sandie the truth. She had a right to know but just as he was about to get up from his desk, the phone rang. An angry patient. Great! Just what he didn't need right now.
James was exhausted by the time he got home from work that night. The apartment was dark and quiet. Sandie must be out with Greg again. He thought to himself. Turning on the lights, he tossed his briefcase in the corner and flopped down on the couch. He wished that Sandie would stay home for once. Lisa was right, Greg was a bad influence on her. She would come home late at night, either high or drunk. James didn't mind her drinking but wished she would quit the drugs. He had to stop her somehow.
Sandie and Greg were at his apartment. They had just finished making love and were wrapped in each other's arms when Greg reached over and pulled something out of the nightstand. You'd think being a doctor, he would know better, but Sandie got him hooked on hard drugs and he couldn't stop. The two of them would do anything from prescription drugs to cocaine, the more of a buzz they got, the better. Sandie's favorite drug of choice was ecstasy, she loved the high it gave her and the sex was even better when she was on it.
Sandie and Greg lay in bed, they were both pretty messed up from the drugs and alcohol. Sandie rolled over and looked at the clock, it was three in the morning. She got up and headed to the shower, she needed to sober up before heading back to James's apartment. Greg got up behind her and grabbed her arm.
"Stay here," he told her.
So back to bed they went.
James awoke the next morning to find that he had fallen asleep on the couch. He got up and looked at the clock, eight in the morning. Shit! He was late for work. He jumped in the shower, grabbed his things and headed out the door. It wasn't until he got to work that he realized that Sandie never got home, he hoped that she was alright.
Greg finally showed up to work about noon, just as James was heading to lunch. He noticed Greg's eyes were bright red and he knew that him and Sandie had been doing drugs and drinking again.
"Hey James," Greg said, slurring his words.
"Greg," James said.
James didn't want to talk to Greg, he was angry and jealous that he was the one with Sandie while he had to stand by and watch. He wanted to tell Sandie the truth but he just kept hoping that she would find out on her own. He pushed past Greg and headed out the door towards the nearest fast food place.
Sandie woke up and looked at the clock, it was well after noon. She got up and looked around. Greg must be at work already, she thought. After a shower, she headed back to the apartment to change. She then decided to head downtown to do some shopping and surprise Greg with lunch at the hospital.
Arriving at the hospital, she went straight to Greg's office where he sat alone looking at his computer. Sandie walked in and he smiled when he saw her.
"Hey," he said, as he eyed her up and down. She was wearing those tight jeans that he liked and a tee shirt that was so tight, it showed off her perfect bosom.
"Hey, I brought lunch if you're hungry," Sandie told him. She walked over and sat the bag down on his desk.
Greg grabbed her, pulling her close to him. "I'd rather have dessert," he told her.
Sandie certainly didn't object. She kissed him and he kissed her back. Before they could go any further, Greg's team of helpers came in, interrupting their fun.
"Bad timing," Greg muttered as Sandie pouted. "Raincheck," he told her.
His team watched them as she divided up the food she brought, took her half and left. As she was leaving the hospital, she ran into James who was coming back from his lunch break.
"Sandie," he said, "what are you doing here?"
"Dropping off lunch for Greg," she told him.
James should've known, and once again, he had a burning rage of jealousy deep inside him. He wanted her to bring him lunch and come home to him every night. He wanted to be the one to make love to her and be able to hold her close. He decided it was time to tell her the truth, to hell with Lisa and her stupid plan. It wasn't working anyway.
"Sandie, I have something I need to tell you," James started. He was quickly interrupted by a page and was called to help with a patient. Ugh, he thought, guess I'll tell her later.
"Can you stay home tonight? I really need to talk to you about something."
"Sure," Sandie told him, although somewhat confused. "Is everything okay?"
Before James could respond, he was paged again. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and headed on his way.
Sandie sat at the apartment that evening wondering what was so important that she had to cancel her plans with Greg. She prepped dinner and waited for James to come home. She had called Greg to tell him that she wouldn't be over. He then whined and reminded her of a toddler who lost his balloon. She promised to make it up to him.
James finally walked into the apartment later than usual. He was tired but surprised that Sandie was still home, he didn't think that she would be.
"Is everything okay?" she asked him.
James was having second thoughts about telling her the truth but she needed to know. He had fallen in love with her and wanted to be with her badly.
"Sandie, you might want to sit down," he told her.
She sat down on the couch and he sat next to her. He wasn't sure how to tell her. He thought about it all afternoon so he just came right out and told her.
"Sandie, I'm not your brother."
Sandie was confused but not surprised.
"What are you saying?" she asked him.
"Lisa and I lied to you. We are not related. She only said that to get you to stay with me."
"Why would she do that?" Sandie was upset. This whole time, she knew something was not right and this whole time, she could've had James but thought he didn't like her that way. Of course this would be her sister's idea, anything to keep Sandie from being happy.
"I'm sorry I lied to you," James told her. He hoped that she wouldn't be too angry at him.
Sandie didn't know what to say, she stood up and began to pace the floor. She thought about going to her sister's place and confronting her but instead, she grabbed her purse and headed out the door to Greg's.
"Shit!" James muttered as he watched the love of his life leave the apartment.
