Willow awoke to the sound of muffled crying. She pulled her hair out of her face and blearily fumbled around, trying to find her glasses. Amity, Luz, and Hunter weren't in their sleeping bags, but Willow could hear Camila talking to someone downstairs, so she assumed they were all up.

So that meant that Gus was the one who was crying. She leant over to confirm her suspicions, and sure enough, he was crying in his sleep. She shook him awake. She knew what it was like to have bad dreams, but she'd always heard that both Illusionists and Oracles have much more vivid dreams, and nightmares.

Gus snapped upright with his eyes wide open, breathing heavily. Willow grabbed his attention and counted down from three with her fingers, keeping going until he had calmed down.

"You okay?" she asked. "That sounded like a bad one."

Gus's hands were trembling. "Back in the Isles… I tried to incapacitate Belos… and I - I saw his mind, his memories!"

Willow was speechless, which was not an often occurrence these days.

"I saw… there were so many of them…"

Willow grabbed Gus' hands to steady them. "So many of what?"

"Belos killed someone, he stabbed him. The guy looked like Hunter!"

"Do you think that could've been… his dad?" Willow asked, wincing as she realised that she would have to be the one to break the news. "He is Belos' nephew… it's gonna destroy him."

Amity had not been having a good evening. She'd struggled to get to sleep, then got woken up no less than three times by cars going past outside (she was a very light sleeper), and then had discovered that Luz and Hunter were missing.

"It's not like her to just run off like this," Camila sighed, visibly exhausted. "Then again, she changed so much when she was away… it's like I don't even know her anymore."

"Don't worry," Amity said reassuringly. "Luz has been in much worse situations than this. She'll be able to handle herself, and Hunter is more than capable. I only lost when we fought because he was at a disadvantage in basically every way."

Camila tried to not think about the fact that Luz had been near death multiple times at this point (and hey, it was a fantasy world, she couldn't rule out resurrection).

"Are you sure they never told you where they were going?" Camila asked. "Did they mention wanting to do something that would require them to leave?"

Amity shook her head. "I can ask Willow and Gus though."

Camila watched Amity go up the stairs, then looked away. She didn't want to call the police, since Hunter wouldn't show up on any records and that would raise a lot of suspicion, but she also wanted them to be safe.

Her little dilemma was lifted as she heard the door open and two sets of feet rush to the stairs.

"We need to keep quiet," Luz said.

"Luz Noceda," Camila seethed. "Get down here this instant." She saw Hunter attempt to make an escape, and stopped him. "Both of you."

As she sat them both down at the kitchen table, she observed their expressions. Luz looked guilty, and Hunter looked terrified.

Camila took a deep, calming breath, and let it out slowly. "I want to say that I'm not mad, just disappointed, but that would be a lie. Running off in the middle of the night to do god knows what without telling anybody?"

"But I—"

"No buts! You can explain yourselves in a minute, I'm talking now. We were all worried sick, you could've been anywhere. You were both irresponsible and immature." Camila sighed and turned away. "I thought you had become more responsible in your time away, but I guess I was wrong. Are you going to go back to being the irresponsible girl who cut class and had no regard for other people's safety? The girl who brought fireworks and live snakes into school, who never thought about the consequences of her actions?"

Camila stood up and looked Luz dead in the eyes. "I was wrong. I am disappointed. It doesn't matter what you were doing. You may take more responsibility for your actions but you're impulsive and short sighted."

She turned to Hunter, who visibly paled. "And as for you, as long as you're a guest in my house, you have to follow my rules and do what I tell you. We can discuss punishments in the morning, go to bed."

Hunter pulled away from the hooded figure standing over him, grabbing onto a pole in an attempt to not fall into the endless chasm below him.

"Philip never told you what happened to your father," the figure said.

"He told me enough!" Hunter retorted. "He told me you killed him!"

"No," the figure said, pulling back his hood to reveal the face of Philip's brother. "I am your father."

Gus' eyes shot open. He looked around blearily. Everyone was downstairs, he could hear them talking. It was definitely early in the morning, he could see light sneaking its way through the window. He made his way downstairs.

"Hey," he said as he sat down at the kitchen table. "Where were you guys last night?"

"We broke into the Gravefield Historical Society," Hunter said. "For information on Bel - Philip."

"We're kinda sorta… grounded," Luz said. "And to make it worse, we didn't find anything that we didn't already know."

It didn't go unnoticed by Gus that Hunter flashed a quick smile towards Luz. They definitely found something.

"We're only allowed to go out for essential stuff like buying lunch when Mami is out, and we have to do all the chores for a week. So you guys get some time off."

Gus sighed. It was going to be a long day.
