Shamouti Island
"WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM!" screamed the irate redhead, stomping up the steps of the stage to see Ash get slapped by some floozy of a girl. The rest of her friends followed in silence, content to let Misty handle the situation.
Nobody hits Ash Ketchum… well nobody but me. The offending party, who had a quick look of revulsion on her face prior to Misty's outburst, turned to the girl with interest. Her look soon morphed into something of amusement.
"Cool it sister. Your boyfriend was being a creep so I set him straight."
"BOYFRIEND?" Ash and Misty said at the same time.
"So he's not your boyfriend? Hmm. Are you sure? You were awfully defensive there," noted the girl with a smirk.
"HE"S NOT MY BOYFRIEND, BUT HE IS MY FRIEND AND YOU HIT HIM!" scowled Misty with an accusing finger pointed at Melody.
"What's all the yelling and screaming about?" asked a new voice. It belonged to an older woman with short brown hair. Her features were vaguely similar to the young girl on stage with Ash, and she wore relatively modest clothing with a jacket.
"Carol?" murmured Maren.
"Maren? It is you Maren! Wow, what brings you back to Shamouti? It's been what? Almost 5 years now?" retorted the older woman, now identified as Carol, in a warm tone.
"Well, I'm actually here as a favor to another friend, but I thought the festival was supposed to be going on around about now. Just seems like another normal day to me, aside from the downturn in the weather." Carol rolled her eyes.
"The festival's not for another few months Maren. You would know that if you visited more often. We are rehearsing though. Isn't that right Melody?" Carol asked the younger girl who had hit Ash with a smile.
"Well, I was trying to," muttered Melody with an annoyed look at Ash and Misty. Ash gave her a sheepish apologetic look, while Misty sent her own glare back.
"Rehearsing?" Brock said, interjecting himself into the conversation.
"Yup! This year my little sister is going to take over the role of festival Maiden in our annual Legend's festival.
"I thought you played the role of Maiden?" Maren noted.
"Not anymore. I'm getting to be a bit old to play a maiden," chuckled the woman.
"Anyway, we were about to run through the part again. Well, we were, but I came over to say that we're cancelling due to the poor weather conditions, and then I heard the yelling. What was that about anyway?" Carol asked, eyeing her sister suspiciously.
"Don't look at me like that! I was here right on time and then this weirdo tourist, who was on my stage already, said he had some creepy dreams about me. Then his girlfriend…
"I'M NOT HIS—"
"Then his GIRLFRIEND," Melody continued, ignoring Misty.
"Starts screaming her head off at me, all because I put that kid in his place," finished Melody with a satisfied smile. Misty was about to retort, but Ash stepped up to cool the situation down.
"Yeah. Sorry about that. Guess I could have worded it better. Let me start over. My name is Ash Red Ketchum. These are my friends Misty, Brock, Tracey, Lucario, Pikachu, and Espeon. We're here on this island because I've been having these dreams, or visions, of some kind of prophecy. I think there's a shrine on this island surrounded by a meadow, three nearby islands, and then you Melody, who I've seen before in these visions. I didn't mean to offend you," Ash contritely explained.
"Did I say weirdo? Sorry, I should have said wacko. That sounds absolutely insane!" scoffed Melody.
"Hey, Ash is telling the truth!" Misty snarled back.
"It's true," pipped up Tracey for additional support. Lucario and Brock merely nodded their heads, while Maren stayed out of it.
"Fine then. You're all crazy! Our festival is just some stupid island traditional. There's no prophecy or other mystical stuff involved."
"Hush Melody!" snapped Carol, looking at Ash with a serious expression. Melody looked back at her sister with a betrayed and shocked expression.
"Don't tell me you're buying this?" the bewildered girl begged.
"I said hush!" scolded Carol, sending a severe look this time in Melody's direction, before turning back to Ash and then Maren.
"Maren, these outsiders, to your knowledge they've never been here before correct? You haven't told them anything about the festival either?"
"To my knowledge yes," affirmed Maren. Carol nodded and again shifted her focus back to Ash.
"If you're telling the truth, then you would have no problem reciting the prophecy you've been dreaming of. And you did say your name was Ash, right?"
"Yes ma'am. Ash Red Ketchum," confirmed Ash, reciting the prophecy from memory as well.
"All of you need to follow me at once, and be quick about it," gravely ordered Carol, who began to walk away. Melody grabbed her arm, stopping her in place.
"Now wait just a minute. What's going on here?" demanded the girl, with crossed arms. Carol pushed her away, ignoring her, and continuing to walk forward, speaking as she went.
"I'm sorry Melody, but it's not for me to say. The elder will explain more. Just stay close." Melody frowned , but listened, walking behind her sister with Ash and his friends tagging along. Thunder rumbled overhead and the temperature continued to drop.
Orange Islands Skies
A Helicopter with a gaudy orange emblem, containing a palm tree and the letters "OIN," flew through the skies of the Orange Islands, battling against small winds, the increasing cold, and the occasional thunder and lightning.
"I don't see why you're making us fly out to the middle of nowhere in this crap weather boss," moaned a heavyset man, holding his camera close.
"Quit your griping George! I've already told you. A source let me know that some crazy weather is emanating from Shamouti. They even said that it could be similar to what happened with the Rockets and the Supercell that formed over Kanto a few months ago. Just imagine the scoop we could get, catching this on film!" gushed the reporter, touching up her makeup while speaking.
"Worked out real well on Fossil Island the last time we had a big scoop," sarcastically shot back George.
"I've got a way around that," chuckled the reporter, ignoring the jibe.
"You do?" genuinely asked the man.
"Of course George. Do you really think I'd send us on another wild Zangoose chase without some reassurance? I learned my lesson. The higher ups have already given me permission. This time, when the camera is rolling, we will be reporting live," smirked the woman.
Shamouti Island
Back on Shamouti, Carol led a procession to a small stone house on the outskirts of the village. Nobody spoke along the way, focusing on staying close and trying to keep warm. Ash, Lucario, and the rest of the Pokemon were particularly silent, their senses telling them that something was not quite right with the world.
"Elder," Carol called out softly, knocking on a wooden door attached to the structure.
"Whose there?" answered a grizzled voice from within.
"It's Carol Elder. I've brought some friends as well. May we come in?"
"Ah Carol. Please, come on in child," answered the voice in a far more jovial tone. Carol pushed the door open, gesturing for the rest of the group to follow. It was a quaint little place and the gang found themselves packed in tight. There was a small fire pit with some seats, also made of stone, but with padding, in a corner of the room. A makeshift kitchen of sorts was off to the side with some shelves. Finally, it seemed there was another room, perhaps a bedroom, that could be visited. Everyone looked towards the fire pit though, where on old man with grey hair, facial hair included, sat.
"Elder Tobias," bowed Carol.
"None of that now," the man waved away with a smile.
"Why don't you introduce me to your friends and tell me what this visit is all about?"
"Of course," nodded the woman, proceeding to do just that. The man's wisened features grew tight as the story progressed, particularly when Ash's name was mentioned. When Carol finished the man sighed, staring deep into the fire.
"I had hoped that this day would not come, but it appears the prophecy will come to pass in my lifetime."
"Prophecy? But it's fake! It's just some silly tradition!" declared Melody. Tobias gave the girl a sad smile, shaking his head.
"No child. I'm afraid it's very real. You would have been told after this year's festival, though it seems there is little point in waiting. Listen well. Long ago, in an age when people and Pokemon were still weary of one another, Fire, Ice, and Lightning did indeed clash here in the Orange Islands. People and Pokemon alike trembled beneath their might as powerful attacks and calamitous weather terrorized all. All seemed lost, until Lugia, Guardian of the Seas, rose to quell the fighting. There was hope, but even Lugia was not enough. Working together, the people and Pokemon of the Orange Islands set aside their differences and crafted three stones from materials struck with the power of the legendary titans. How they did this and the materials used are unknown, but they did it. They also crafted a beautiful instrument, giving it to a maiden pure of heart. The maiden, a defender, and his Pokemon, journeyed to the back of this very island where the Pokemon raged overhead, placing the stones within a newly constructed shrine. It was then that the maiden brought the instrument to her lips, playing a harmonious melody. Lugia, weary from battle, was reinvigorated with power, and the titans came back to their senses, ceasing their onslaught. Lugia banished the titans to the islands of Ice, Fire, and Thunder, and the power of the stones kept them at bay, as they were moved to accompany each creature. Again, we know not, how the stones quelled the fighting of the Pokemon, but we do know this. Lugia declared that once a year the power of the stones be recharged at the shrine. Years passed, but the people and Pokemon obeyed Lugia's edict. The maiden, the defender, and his Pokemon ventured to retrieve the stones and charged them with song at the shrine here at Shamouti every year. Eventually though, the maiden and her protector passed away, leaving the task to the next generation, and the next, and the next, and so on. Thus, the legend festival was born," finished the man.
"Cool story Elder, but that's all it is. A story," deadpanned Melody.
"Show some respect!" scolded Carol.
"With all due respect sir, may I ask some a question or two?" spoke Brock.
"Of course young man. Ask away," prodded the man.
"How can we know any of this is true? Also, you didn't mention anything about the origin of the prophecy. Where does that tie in with all of this?"
"Good points Brock," agreed Misty. The old man chuckled.
"Fair questions my shrewd young friend. I was just as skeptical as you. However, I know it to be true, because I myself heard it from someone who was there all those years ago."
"WHAT?" Ash yelled. Everyone else was equally shocked, including Carol, who hadn't even been told this tidbit.
"It's true. There is a secret that each elder has passed onto the next. A secret to protect a relic from that long forgotten age. The time has come for that secret to end. If you paid attention to my story, you might be able to catch it," said the man, eying the group. Ash played the story through his head over and over. What was it that he was missing?
Someone who was there all those years ago. Well, he mentioned a maiden, a defender, and the defender's Pokemon. The maiden and the defender passed away though. No human could possibly survive all that time to know. Wait a minute? Ash's eyes widened in realization and the elder smiled.
"I see the young man has caught on. Well, don't keep your friends in suspense."
"Do you mean to say that the defender's Pokemon is still alive?" Ash asked.
"I do, and it was he that made the prophecy all those years ago. Now, it is time for you to meet him chosen one."
"Right now?" The man nodded, standing up with the help of a cane.
"Yes, and we must make haste. Can you not feel it? The balance has been broken. Why else do you think it is getting so cold? Why else would thunder and lightning increase in frequency?"
"Uh, normal bad weather," tried Melody, still slightly in denial.
"If only. I fear that Moltres has been disturbed. Come children, we make for the shrine!" declared Tobias.
The Weather Institute (Hoenn Region)
"Maxie, get yourself over here lad!" growled Archie, once again disturbing the composed tall and slender man.
"Archie, can you not go 5 minutes without my presence?" sighed the man, walking to his associate and the work station.
"Quit yer blubbering and look. These readings are off the charts!" Looking down, Maxie analyzed this newer data far easier than before, as it was much more blatant.
"Interesting. It seems the weather phenomenon has expanded from the Orange Islands, affecting both Kanto and Johto," commented the man.
"Aye, but there's more. It's not stopping. Do you not see the pattern yet? It's coming for us here in Hoenn too, and the rest of the world for that matter," added on Archie.
"You're right," frowned Maxie, seeing what his partner had said. At the rate things were going, Hoenn would feel the affects of whatever was transpiring in a few hours.
"Makes a man think you know," Archie quietly said, snapping Maxie's attention back to him.
"About?" Maxie asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, what's causing this of course."
"I thought it didn't matter," mocked Maxie. Archie shoved the man aside with a growl.
"That was earlier when it was just confined to those blasted islands. Now though, I think you were on to something. Weather manipulation. I have a hankering that something unnatural is causing this mess," sighed the man.
"There's no need for such roughhousing, but I appreciate your agreement. Nonetheless, you were also right in saying that it mattered not. We are in no position to interfere, or alter the events. If something or someone is causing this phenomenon, we can only hope they will be stopped," countered Maxie.
"And if they're not stopped?" asked Archie.
"Then it would appear we are heading for a world wide Ice Age mixed with plenty of thunder and lightning," finished Maxie, walking back to his own chair and massaging his forehead.
An Ice Age? No. That wouldn't do. The Pokemon of the world would suffer far too much, thought the rugged man. His slender colleague experienced similar, yet different thoughts.
Mankind could not possibly flourish under the yolk of an Ice Age. I can only pray that things are set right and soon.
"Maxie, do you think this will ever stop?" Archie asked again, still looking at his computer.
"The event? How could I possibly know," sighed the man.
"No lad. Not the event. I mean all these disasters that seem to plaguing the world as of late. It seems the world is out of balance." Maxie paused for a moment, thinking about the question before he arrived at his conclusion. It was one that Archie shared.
"Without drastic intervention, I can only conclude that these disasters will continue to occur, even if we do survive this one."
Shamouti Island Shrine
If it weren't for the dead and wilted flowers, Ash would have been in awe of the sight before him. It was just as he had dreamed. A meadow surrounding 7 stone pillars and a shrine with three slots on a rocky cliff. The cliff overlooked three islands in the distance.
"This is not right," Tobias said with furrowed brows, looking at the empty shrine.
"What's not right Elder?" Carol asked in concern.
"The guardian. He's not here. He should be here," answered Tobias, looking around.
"Crazy old man," muttered Melody.
"Apprentice?" Lucario asked, giving Ash a knowing look. The boy nodded, closing his eyes and casting out his senses. It was coming easier to Ash now, far easier than when he had started. He no longer needed to repeat the mantra in his mind of focusing on his friends. It just seemed to come naturally to him. First, there was the aura of all the humans around him. Brock, Tracey, and Misty were familiar enough. He could even separate Maren from the bunch. Melody and Carol's signatures were similar and then there was Tobias. Ash's Pokemon and Togepi were also identifiable and distinguishable. There was something more though. Down on the…
"Cliffs!" Ash yelled, his eyes snapping open.
"What?" Tracey asked beside the boy in confusion.
"Sorry, I mean I can sense a Pokemon down on the cliffs," Ash said, running to the edge of the rock. Peering down, he spotted what he had sensed. A bruised and battered Pokemon lay on the rocks below. It was a regal pink bi-pedal Pokemon. A Shellder had latched onto its head.
"It's a Slowking!" Misty cried.
"And it's hurt," Brock said with concern.
"That's our guardian…" weakly added Tobias, almost broken at the sight of the hurt Pokemon.
"Princess, think you've practiced enough to lend a hand?" Ash asked, turning to Espeon.
"I'm ready," telepathically answered the emerald green Psychic Pokemon. Her gem glowed as she unleashed a Psychic attack, latching onto Slowking's still form and levitating him up, back onto the cliff. Gently, she released her powers and set him down. Brock was at his side in an instant, along with Chansey, treating his wounds.
"Heal Pulse," commanded Brock, pouring a Hyper Potion down the drained Pokemon's throat.
"Chansey!" Green energy burst from the bubbly Pokemon, encapsulating Slowking. In conjunction with the Hyper Potion, the treatment began to produce results. Slowking stirred and he spoke. Unlike Espeon and Lucario, his mouth opened when he did.
"Uhhh. I feel a thudding sensation in my head," groaned the Pokemon.
"It talks!" gasped Melody.
"Yes I do, and I'm not an it," grumbled Slowking, standing back up.
"Thank you young man for the treatment, and you too Chansey."
"Um. Not a problem," the stupefied Brock answered.
"Chansey!" beamed the Pokemon.
"Slowking, how did you come to be in such a dire state?" prodded the Elder, walking up to him.
"I was attacked, sent flying off the cliff. A human did this. A human and a Pokemon I have not seen in all my years of existence," answered Slowking, gazing at the three islands with a far off look.
"Is this human causing the disturbance in the balance?" Ash finally spoke up. Slowking slowly turned to the boy.
"Perhaps. Perhaps not. It is you who will help restore the balance though Ash. Of that I am certain chosen one," sagely spoke the Pokemon.
"Excuse me, but I'm still not buying this whole chosen one thing," butted in Melody.
"You have a role to play in this as well young Melody," Slowking smiled, turning to the girl.
"But how could you possibly know our names?" wondered Ash.
"I may speak the tongue of men, but I am a Psychic Pokemon," laughed Slowking, before returning to his serious demeanor.
"Chosen one, time grows short. Moltres has fallen and the other titans grow restless. You must retrieve the orbs of fire, ice, and lightning. Make haste chosen one, but beware. The titans may not respond kindly to your efforts in retrieving the orbs, so go with caution. The young maiden will stay with me, and I will instruct her in what she needs to do," finished Slowking. Melody gawked at the audacity of the Pokemon, while Ash gave a firm nod.
"Got it! Which one is Fire Island? You mentioned Moltres is gone, so might as well start there." Slowking pointed his hand towards one of the islands, before walking away to Melody.
"Hey Ash, I have a boat and can get us to the island asap!" Maren smiled. Ash grabbed a Pokeball, giving the girl a quick smile.
"Thanks, but there's no need. Pidgeot, come on out!"
"Pidgeot!" screeched the bird, emerging from his Pokeball. Ash quickly called back Espeon and hopped aboard. Lucario joined him without hesitation.
"What about us Ash?" protested Tracey. Ash answered by tossing the boy a Pokeball.
"Lapras will get you and Brock to the island without any issues. I'm sure Misty will have no issues getting there on her own. Right Misty?" winked Ash.
"You better believe it Ash Red Ketchum!" smirked the girl, calling back Togepi, and diving off the cliff. Tracey and Brock ran to the edge in shock, only to see Misty speeding towards Fire Island on a Dewgong.
"Dang. She's pretty cool," commented Tracey in awe.
"That she is. Now we have to move, or we're going to get left behind," urged Brock. The duo made their own way down the cliff, albeit slower and in a far safer manner, taking Lapras.
"Ready to fly Pikachu?"
"Pika! Pika!"
"Max speed to Fire Island Pidgeot!"
"Pidgeot!" They were off.
The Floating Palace - Thunder Island
"Magnificent isn't it?" commented Ghetsis, marveling at the caged form of Moltres. The Fire Titan screeched in anger, leaping forward only to be met by another shock and cool metal, blocking the path.
"Yes Lord Ghetsis," minutely replied his Shadow Triad. Ghetsis merely chuckled at the creature's attempted defiance, turning away to look through a window. Down below he could see nothing but clouds, but he knew that beneath the veil, Thunder Island awaited.
"Computer, scan for Zapdos," calmly spoke the man, not breaking his eye contact with the outside world.
"The Titan of Thunder, Zapdos, is not present," immediately answered the emotionless voice. Ghetsis' features darkened and his voice teetered low.
"Repeat that computer?"
"Scans show that the Titan of Thunder, Zapdos, is not present," sounded the computer. Ghetsis banged his fist against the window in frustration, angered at this set back.
Where could that blasted bird have gone? It should be here!
"Widen the net. Commence a scan of the surrounding islands for Zapdos!" snapped the man.
"Scan initiated. Searching…" Ghetsis waited, tapping his fingers along the window in impatience, but wait he did. A few minutes later, his waiting ceased.
"Zapdos detected. The Titan of Thunder is on course for Fire Island."
Fire Island? I was just there. What a hassle. So be it.
"Make a course for Fire Island at once and do so at max speed!" commanded Ghetsis.
"Of course. To engage top speed, altitude must be lowered with current weather conditions. Is this acceptable?" Ghetsis looked below, still seeing the clouded veil that shielded him from sight.
Well, our cover would be blown, but at this point it matters not. None can stop me.
"Proceed," affirmed the man, heading back to his throne.
Shamouti Island Seas
"Hanging in there Pikachu?" Ash asked, gripping Pidgeot tightly, as Pikachu latched onto his own trainer's shoulder in a similar manner.
"Pika," resolutely responded the yellow mouse. They were making good time, flying towards Fire Island at a steady pace. At this point, Ash had added a red jacket to his attire. The high speeds at the altitude, in conjunction with the freezing temperature, necessitated such a thing. Keeping his focus on the task at hand and blocking out the cold, Ash soldiered on, looking towards Fire Island. A paw tapping his unoccupied shoulder broke it.
"Apprentice, to your left, look!" Heeding his master, Ash did, and the boy was stunned.
"The machine. It's the flying machine from my vision." A large metal structure flew from what appeared to be Thunder Island, making its way towards Ash's intended destination.
Is the red-eyed man on board? What about Moltres? These thoughts and more plagued Ash, as he was unable to take his eyes from the vessel. At the rate of speed they were going, it looked like Pidgeot would get them there first with plenty of time to spare. Still, Ash felt like he had to hurry. Looking down, Ash scanned the seas for his friends. Pidgeot was one of the fastest Pokemon in the world, but Misty at least had gotten a head start. Luckily, he was able to spot the girl, a couple hundred feet behind them. Lapras wasn't exactly visible at this point, likely lagging behind with Brock and Tracey. Ash wouldn't be able to wait for those two though. Not with that machine closing in.
"I can sense something within that flying abomination Apprentice. Something old and powerful. Can you feel it?"
"No. It's too far for me, but I'll trust your judgement master. Keep pushing Pidgeot! We're nearly there."
Fire Island
After touching down on Fire Island, Ash recalled Pidgeot, while calling Espeon back out.
"Ugh. I hate that stupid Pokeball. So cramped," grumbled Ash's emerald green Princess. The raven-haired boy ignored the moaning, currently occupied with studying his surroundings. Plenty of ice permeated the vicinity of the island. Ironic considering the name, but it could have something to do with Moltres' absence. There were stone stairs up ahead, pillars on either side of the walkway. That seemed like the way forward. Ash's head turned back as he picked up on footsteps rushing in his direction.
"Nice to see you caught up Misty."
"It's not exactly fair when you have a Pidgeot Ash," playfully answered back the girl.
"Did you happen to see that thing in the sky?" Ash asked.
"No. I was a bit focused on riding through the rough waves with Dewgong. What was in the sky?" Ash looked up, pointing it out to Misty, who followed his hand.
"Woah!" gawked Misty, lost for words.
"It's headed this way. I think it's the flying machine from one of my visions and Lucario could sense something powerful on board, probably Moltres. Anyway, we need to head for the orb and pronto."
"What about Brock and Tracey? How will they know where we are?" frowned Misty. Ash sighed, walking ahead.
"There's no time Misty. We can't afford to let that thing get here first," stubbornly said Ash. Slightly torn, Misty agreed and they made their way up the staircase. Up the stairs they traveled, moving fast, but in silence. Finally, they reached the top.
"Down there," breathed Misty. Ash saw it too. Another set of stairs, leading down into what looked like the heart of a Volcano. However, at the end was a shrine. A bright red-orange orb gleamed in the distance.
"The orb of fire," stated Ash, sprinting down the staircase, now motivated more than ever. Approaching the shrine, Ash reached his hand forward, making contact with the orb.
"AHHH!" screamed Ash, pulling his hand back and holding it gingerly.
"ASH! Are you alright?" Misty asked, running forward to console him.
"Fine. That orb just really burns," grimaced Ash, looking at the orb.
"Maybe we can try cooling it down with a Water Pokemon attack?" suggested Misty.
"No. I don't think that would be of use," answered Lucario, holding his hands near the orb and analyzing it with aura.
"There is great power within this orb. Its heat will not falter to a simple attack."
"Well then how can we possibly take it Master?" Ash said with crossed arms. Lucario looked at the boy, almost disappointed with the response.
"Can you truly think of no way apprentice?" Suitably abashed by his master's gaze, Ash stopped to analyze the situation.
Some kind of power rests within, heating the orb to a degree that we cannot touch. Power? Could that be another word for energy. If so, then maybe that would work, thought the youth. Assuming his position, Ash reached a singled hand forward, placing the other at his back. The hand made contact with the orb and power rushed through Ash's hand, down his arm, into his stomach, up his back arm, and out of his back hand. A stream of fire exited in a powerful display and the orb cooled. Lucario nodded his head in approval.
"What the heck was that?" the befuddled Misty asked, watching as Ash took the orb and stowed it away in his backpack.
"Energy transfer. It's an Aura technique Lucario taught me," responded the boy with a smile.
"Guess he is useful beyond making crude jokes at my expense," admitted Misty, while Lucario merely smirked at the girl.
I wonder. Was the defender from the legend an Aura User? What about everyone else who touched the orbs after he passed on though? Loud voices interrupted these thoughts.
"ASH! MISTY!" The duo turned, looking back to see Brock and Tracey running down to join them.
"Hey guys!" chirped Misty.
"What was with that big stream of fire. You two ok?" Tracey asked.
"All good here Trace. We got the orb secured," nodded Ash, patting his backpack.
"Well, we weren't exactly much help, but it is what it is," sighed Brock with a self-depreciating smile.
"It doesn't matter. We need to head to the next island. Let's make for Ice Island next and then we can circle back to Thunder Island," said Ash, thinking about the flying machine and wanting to avoid it for as long as possible.
"Sounds like a plan," agreed Misty, while Brock and Tracey nodded.
"Pidgeot, let's go!" Ash's powerful Flying Pokemon graced the air once again, letting out a shriek. Floating overhead, he slowly began his descent to meet his trainer.
BOOM! A loud burst of thunder rumbled overhead and a single bolt of lightning flew down, connecting with Pidgeot at light speed. Ash screamed.
"PIDGEOT!" Pidgeot hit the ground hard, his whole body convulsing with electricity. Mercifully, he was out before he hit the ground. Nobody could react further as an even louder shriek permeated the island. Ash looked up, seeing something he hadn't expected in the slightest. A giant bird, yellow with tints of black and a sharp break descended from the clouds, coming to rest on top of the shrine. The Titan of Thunder, Zapdos, was here.
