Chapter 13
"James!" Greg was frantic as he barged into James's office.
"What is it, Greg?" James asked as he looked up from his desk.
"It's Sandie! Something's happened!"
"What do you mean something happened?"
"I was talking to her on the phone when I heard her scream then nothing. We have to go find her!"
"Go find her in New York? Are you crazy? Do you know how long that would take us?"
"I never should've let her go, this is all my fault."
"Calm down, Greg. I know someone who can help. Go tell Lisa, not that she'd care."
Greg left the office and went down to Lisa's to let her know that her sister's been kidnapped.
"What!" Lisa exclaimed. "Are you sure? What happened?"
"I don't know. One minute we were talking, the next, she was screaming then silence."
"What was she doing back in New York?"
While Greg tried to explain things to her, James was on the phone with Elliot.
"Are you sure?" Elliot asked him.
"That's what he said," James told him.
"Don't worry, I'll do what I can to find her."
James hung up and headed down to Lisa's office.
"The police are starting a search now," he said.
Lisa was furious. Even though the two sisters didn't get along, she didn't like the fact that Sandie may have been kidnapped.
"I can't believe you two!" She snapped at Greg and James. "Acting like a couple of kids over one woman who does nothing but sleep around on the both of you! You drove her back to New York, both of you! And as for you, Greg, what were you thinking, proposing to her? Are you insane? Do you really think the two of you are ready for that?"
While Lisa reprimanded the two of them, Elliot was in his Captain's office trying to convince him to send out a search for Sandie.
"How can we be sure where to even look?" The Captain asked.
"I don't know," Elliot said.
Before too long, Special Victims were working hard to find Sandie. It was going to be a long shot since they had no idea where to start but they were as hell going to try. They got their first tip when a gentleman walked into the station adk asked to speak to an officer.
"I'm Detective Olivia Benson. What can I help you with?"
"I found this cell phone laying on the sidewalk outside my shop," the man told her, handing her the phone. "I was surprised it was still in one piece, considering the traffic out there."
Detective Benson took down his information so they could start looking for Sandie. She was hoping that there would be some witnesses to help them out. Someone would've had to see her getting jumped and pulled into a van during broad daylight.
Sandie was blindfolded and tied up in the back of the van. It felt like it was speeding around the city before hitting a bumping road that must've been out in the country. She could hear the men talking and she could've sworn she recognized one of their voices. The van came to a stop and the doors opened. The men grabbed her and dragged her kicking and screaming to a secluded house in the woods.
They took her inside where they threw her on a dusty mattress on the floor. One of the men took off her blindfold and she recognized him immediately.
"Jake! I should've known you were behind this!"
"Hey baby, did you miss me?"
It's been quite some time since Sandie and Jake were together. After being arrested by Elliot and spending some time in prison, he was paroled and determined to get Sandie back and get revenge on Elliot.
"So did you miss me baby?" Jake asked her.
"You better let me go!" Sandie threatened.
"Or else what? You still friends with that cop?"
"So what if I am? He's probably out there looking for me right now," Sandie told him.
"What happened to you, baby?" Jake asked her. "We were so good together. Now you're nothing but a goody-goody."
Jake noticed the ring on her finger.
"Well, well, well, what have we here?" He asked her, as he looked at the ring. "My baby's getting married and it's not to me."
Jake was fuming, he slapped Sandie hard across the face, knocking her off the mattress and onto the floor. Jake was one of those guys you didn't piss off. Sandie was in tears but held her composure against her ex-boyfriend.
"How did you get out of jail anyway?" Sandie asked him.
"I've been a good boy," Jake laughed. "Now about this engagement, who's the lucky bastard? I want to kick his ass!"
"You will do no such thing!" Sandie screamed at him.
"I will kill anyone who comes between you and me," Jake threatened her. "You belong to me and only me!"
Sandie was afraid now, she hoped that someone would come get her before Jake could get any information on any of her lovers. If anything were to happen to them, she'd never forgive herself.
Elliot stood quietly outside the house where Sandie was being held. It didn't take the police long to find out where she was. Jake wasn't a very bright man. His first mistake was doing the kidnapping in broad daylight when there were a ton of witnesses around. Second, driving like a maniac through the streets was a big tip off to the cops.
So there Elliot stood with back up getting ready to make their move. He didn't want Sandie to get hurt but he was willing to do whatever it took to save her. The Captain was there as well to make sure Elliot didn't do anything foolish, he knew that he cared about this girl and thought he was foolish to get involved with her in the first place. Even Olivia had to make sure he kept his cool.
Inside, Jake had Sandie pinned down to the mattress, he wrestled with her top and pants trying to get inside her. She put up quite a fight since Jake made it easy for her by untying her, she clawed at him and he smacked her back. Jake then grabbed a switchblade which he kept in his boot and held it to her neck.
"Now, baby, don't make me hurt you," he warned her. He used the blade to cut open her top and trailed the blade along her breasts. "Damn, I missed those."
Sandie screamed as loud as she could, even though Jake held the knife to her body. He fumbled for her pants and for a split second Sandie's hand was free enough to grab the knife from him.
"What the hell!" Jake was surprised. He was so busy trying to rape her that he had for a moment lost control. Sandie had the knife now and she used it to smack Jake across the face, cutting his cheek and leaving him bleeding.
"Fucking bitch!" He screamed. He smacked her, knocking the switchblade out of her hand. She screamed.
Outside, Elliot could hear her screams.
"Captain! We must make our move now!"
So then the police were forced to move in. They broke down doors and wrestled with three of the men who were lazily keeping guard.
"Where is she?" Elliot threatened one of them, gun to his head.
"Elliot!" Olivia warned him. She and the Captain had to convince him not to kill this guy so he could go find Sandie.
In another room of the house, Jake had beaten Sandie pretty badly. She had put up just as much of a fight, leaving his face bloody from her nails but he had no luck trying to get inside her. Just then the door burst open and there was Elliot, gun drawn, pointed right at Jake. Jake jumped up and grabbed Sandie, switchblade to her throat.
"Put the knife down and let her go!" Elliot told him.
"Hell no! This bitch belongs to me!" Jake yelled.
"Elliot," Sandie squeaked.
"Sandie, it'll be okay, I'm here now," Elliot reassured her.
"I'm warning you, Jake! Put the knife down and let her go!"
"Fuck off, copper!"
That's just what Elliot needed, he shot off his gun, getting Jake in the arm. Jake yelped and dropped the blade. Sandie turned and kicked Jake in the groin, rendering him helpless. He dropped to the floor in pain. She ran over to Elliot and he wrapped her in his arms.
Sandie lay in a hospital bed, battered and bruised but nothing broken. There was a knock at the door and Elliot walked in.
"Hey beautiful, how are you?" he asked her.
"I'm okay," she answered, "Thanks for coming for me."
"Hey, I would do anything for you," Elliot told her. "I want you to know that Jake is in prison, he won't be getting out for a long time. He's not going to hurt you again."
"You know," Elliot continued, "if it wasn't for your friend, James, we never would've known you were missing."
"James told you I was missing?" Sandie was a bit confused since it was Greg she was talking to when Jake grabbed her, not James.
"Yes, he called me to let me know something happened."
Before Elliot could finish explaining, Olivia was at the door.
"El, you're needed out here."
He gave Sandie a kiss on the forehead and left the room.
It was dark when Sandie awoke. I must've fallen asleep, she thought. She wondered where everyone was and hoped that Elliot wasn't in a lot of trouble for shooting Jake. The bastard had it coming. She wished she had her cell phone with her so she could call James or Greg or even Lisa. She wanted someone to talk to. She wanted someone to tell her that everything would be all right. She threw off her covers and got out of bed. She looked around for her clothes and remembered that Jake had destroyed her top. She didn't want to stay here, she wanted to go home. Sandie sat on the edge of the bed and began to cry.
"I never should've come back here," she said to herself. She felt lonely and scared, just then there was a knock on the door. Sandie looked up to see Zack standing in the doorway, flowers in hand.
"Hey," he started. "I heard what happened. I am so sorry, Sandie. These are for you."
He sat the flowers down and sat down next to her on the bed.
"It's not your fault," Sandie told him, "you shouldn't be sorry."
"I'm just sorry that a jerk like that would hurt someone as nice as you."
"It's a long story," Sandie told Zack.
"So you knew him?"
"Yeah, he's an ex-boyfriend. I wasn't expecting him to still be around."
"Hey, do you need anything? Anything I can get you or do for you?" Zack asked her.
"Could you maybe find out how long I have to stay here?"
"Sure thing."
Zack got up and went to look for the doctor. He was back within a few minutes to tell Sandie the bad news. She would have to stay for another day or two just for observation. Sandie broke down, Zack held her and let her cry. He sat with her until she fell asleep then quietly left the room.
Greg, James, and Lisa sat in the car on their way to New York to see Sandie. Elliot had called James back to let him know that they found Sandie and she was in the hospital. Both James and Greg were acting like a couple of children, blaming each other for what happened and Lisa, playing mom, was getting sick of the bickering. She was glad when they pulled up in front of the hospital and the three of them got out of the car.
Sandie had just woken up when the nurse told her she had visitors. Lisa went in first to make sure she was up to seeing Greg and James.
"Hey, how are you?" Lisa asked her sister.
"Lisa, what are you doing here?" Sandie asked.
"When I heard what happened, I had to come."
"But why? You hate me."
"I don't hate you. You didn't deserve this, even if your past was to blame."
"I'm glad you're here. Did you tell mom and dad?"
Lisa shook her head, "No, they don't need to know. You know they wouldn't have cared anyway. Sandie, we may not get along but I want you to know that I am the only one that cares about you. Think about everything I've done for you."
Sandie didn't have a chance to answer because she heard loud arguing coming from out in the hall. Lisa walked out to find Greg and James at each other's throats.
"Knock it off you two!" She shouted, "You're acting like a couple of babies! Grow up!"
Lisa went back in the room and asked Sandie if she was up to seeing anyone else. She agreed and Lisa told James he could go in first, Greg stood in the waiting room pouting and argued that it wasn't fair that he got to go in first when he was Sandie's fiance.
"Hey gorgeous," James said when he entered the room. Sandie smiled when she saw him, he walked over and gave her a hug.
"Oh James, I'm so glad to see you!" Sandie exclaimed. "You have got to get me out of here. I just want to go home."
"I can see what I can do but I can't make any promises. You should've stayed with me. I'm sorry I told you that I wasn't happy for you and Greg. If I had just kept my mouth shut, you wouldn't have ended up in this mess."
"No James, it's not your fault. I just didn't want to be the reason that you and Greg stop being friends."
"Why would you think that?" James asked her.
"You two fight too much over me. Am I really worth it? You've taken really good care of me, James and you're a really great friend but I'm in love with Greg. Please don't be mad, I'm sorry if you're hurt but…."
Sandie couldn't finish her sentence. James was upset, he knew that he could never be the one that Sandie loved, even after everything that's happened and some of the kinky nights that they had spent together. He could only hope that she would one day realize that she once told him that she loved him. He wondered if she actually meant it. He said goodbye and left the room. Sandie was hurting too, she wished she didn't have this kind of effect on guys, they act like children whenever she's around. Her thoughts were interrupted when Greg walked into the room. He was furious that anyone could hurt his woman.
"Hey baby, how are you?" he asked her.
"Hurting," Sandie answered, "How are you?"
"Well I miss my baby," Greg told her. "Look, I know you don't believe me, but I do love you and want to marry you. As soon as you get out of here, we will start making plans right away. That's if you want to."
"Yes," Sandie told him. Greg was kind of shocked but was glad she said yes.
"Okay then, baby. I will have James get your things together so you can move in with me."
Just then a nurse entered and told him that visiting hours were over and he had to leave. Greg kissed Sandie and she kissed him back. She didn't want him to go, she didn't want to stay another day. She was furious at Jake for putting her in this position, she wanted to kill him. Maybe she would plot her revenge as soon as she gets out of the hospital.
