Chapter 15

Silence. Sandie's world stood still. She dropped the gun and saw the blood trickling from Jake's head. She felt as if she might throw up. The room spun and she had to sit to keep from falling. It seemed as if everything was moving in slow motion. The cops had broken in and everything was just happening at once. Nothing made sense anymore as Elliot led her away in handcuffs. He placed her in a patrol car and she watched as her life slipped away.

Sandie sat in an interrogation room. Elliot was talking to her but she didn't seem to hear him. She couldn't get the image of Jake's lifeless body out of her mind, all that blood. It was self-defense, she thought. He had it coming but will Elliot believe me? I can't go back to jail, not again. I have a wedding to plan. Thoughts swirled through her head and she finally snapped back to reality when Elliot slammed his fists on the table.

"Damn it, Sandie! Are you listening to me?" He asked her. "Do you know how much trouble you're in?"

"But Elliot, darling," Sandie said as she stood up, hands still in cuffs. She placed her hands on his chest and gave him her saddest puppy dog eyes. "Jake was going to kill me."

Elliot pushed her away.

"You went to the motel with an intent to kill him, not to mention you assaulted a police officer and took his gun. You're in a lot of trouble."

"But El, Jake was on his way to kill me and you!" Sandie was desperate now. "I can't go back to jail, I just can't!"

"You should've stayed away. Let the law handle him."

"The law wasn't doing shit!" Sandie screamed at him. "They let him escape from prison, how is that protecting me?"

Elliot couldn't listen anymore so he left Sandie crying as he left the room.

"So what do you think?" He asked the captain and the A.D.A.

"I think she's in a lot of trouble," said the Assistant District Attorney. "Murder plus assault."

Sandie sat in the interrogation room while the others planned her future. She hoped that Elliot would believe her with her self-defense story and would let her off easy. As she sat there, the door opened and in walked a well-dressed woman who introduced herself as her lawyer. Sandie told her lawyer what happened and that it was self-defense. After a few minutes of discussion, her lawyer left the room. It seemed like forever before someone else came in. The attorneys had discussed her fate and Sandie agreed to the terms.

They had agreed that her attack on Jake was self-defense and all charges would be dropped. Sandie also had to take a guilty plea to assaulting an officer and be put back on probation. Being put back on probation meant that she would have to obey the same rules as she did last time, staying with James. After convincing her lawyer that she had a fiance, they said she could stay with him.

A couple days later, after making phone calls to Lisa and Greg to explain the situation to them, Elliot had escorted Sandie back to New Jersey. They pulled up to Greg's apartment and sat quietly for a few seconds before either of them said anything.

"So, you're marrying that doctor?" Elliot asked her.

"I might," Sandie answered. "After this mess, I doubt he'd want to."

"Well he's a lucky guy, he just better treat you right."

"Elliot," Sandie started. She turned towards him in the car and put her hand to his cheek. She kissed his lips and even though he tried to resist, he kissed her back. His hands went towards her breasts as she fumbled for the buttons on his shirt. She kissed his neck and moved her way down his chest. Elliot moaned, oh how he missed those lips. Sandie undid his pants and started caressing his package.

"Sandie, we shouldn't," Elliot told her but he didn't stop her. Sandie had gone down on him right there in the car and had her warm, moist mouth around his penis. All Elliot could do was moan and sigh, he couldn't resist her, who could?

When Elliot was hard enough, Sandie undid her jeans, straddled him and placed his hardness inside her. She kissed him again and they made love right there in the car, not caring who saw. She just hoped that Greg wouldn't come home early.

That evening, Sandie and Greg sat in the apartment eating pizza and watching television. They didn't talk much, Greg was still upset about what Sandie did. He didn't make any mention of the wedding and that night, he slept on the couch. He left early in the morning for work and Sandie was hurt. She spent most of the day pacing the apartment, she really had nowhere to go. She sat down on the couch and dialed James's number.

"Wilson," he answered.

"Hey James, it's me," Sandie said.

"Hey, how's it going?" James asked her.

"Not so good. Greg isn't speaking to me and I'm afraid he wants to call off the wedding."

"Don't be silly, he loves you," James told her. "This is what you guys wanted."

"I'm not so sure now. James, can I come see you?"

"Yea, sure. When?" James asked.

"Now?"

He told her that it should be okay and they hung up. Sandie grabbed her purse and keys and headed out towards the hospital. She entered Princeton-Plainsboro and hoped she wouldn't run into Lisa or Greg. She made it up to James's office without being seen. She knocked on the door and he told her to come in.

"Hey baby," Sandie said.

"Hey," James got up and went to her. He hugged her and they held each other for a few moments. "I've missed you like crazy," he told her.

They sat on the couch in the office and talked for a while. Just then the door opened and Greg walked in.

"Sandie, what are you doing here?" He asked when he saw her.

"I was bored, so I thought I would come talk to James."

"You know you're not supposed to leave the apartment," Greg scolded her.

"Now wait just a cotton picking minute," Sandie said as she stood up. She walked over to him and poked a finger at his chest. "Just who do you think you are telling me what I can and can not do?"

Greg grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out into the hall.

"I am your fiance and I don't want you anywhere near James," he told her.

"Are you sure this is what you still want?" Sandie asked him.

"Baby, I want you," Greg replied. He kissed her lips and told her to go home. "I will see you later and we can discuss this."

Sandie didn't want to but she left anyway. On her way out of the hospital, she stopped by the pharmacy but there was no one around. Her past was starting to catch up to her and she looked around to make sure no one was watching. She snuck into the pharmacy and grabbed what she could before heading out the door. She also stopped by the store to pick up some hard liquor.

When Greg got home that evening he found Sandie passed out on the couch with an open bottle of vodka on the table next to her. He sighed and shook her shoulder to wake her up. She awoke to see him standing over her, an angry look on his face. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, her head hurt and she felt as if she was going to throw up. It's been a while since she drank.

"Hey baby," Sandie said. "Wanna play?"

She stood up and put her arms around him. She kissed him and even though he was angry with her, he kissed her back. They headed to the bedroom and Sandie started to undress her fiance. She kissed his lips, neck and chest then headed for his already hardened member. Working her magic spell on him, he moaned and sighed. He missed how good she was, in fact, he missed everything about her. Sandie stood up and he undressed her. He fondled her breasts and sucked her nipples and she let out a sigh. It was his turn to go down on her, pleasuring her with his mouth. She pushed him to the bed and got on top of him, riding him like that for a while before he flipped her over and made love to her. It felt so good to be in each other's arms as they both finished and fell asleep together.

Zack sat at home thinking about Sandie. He read about what happened in the paper and he felt sorry for her. He wished that he could've seen her before she left the city. No matter what he did, he couldn't get her out of his mind. He was only with her that one time but she had already weaved her spell on him. He had to see her again. He packed a bag and headed out of the city. He didn't know where she was but he did read in the paper about her fiance, Dr. Gregory House of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. He figured he would try there first.

He pulled up in front of the hospital and got out of the car. He entered and stood there trying to find directions to Greg's office. James had just come back from lunch and was headed to the elevator when he saw Zack standing there looking confused.

"Can I help you?" James asked.

"I, uh, was looking for Dr. House," Zack answered.

"He's on clinic duty right now. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"I'm a friend of his fiancee, Sandie. I wasn't sure where she lived so I was hoping I could get her address so I can visit her."

"I'm James, a friend of Sandie's as well. I can give you her address."

James gave Zack Sandie's address, he thanked him and headed out to the apartement. Pulling up in front of the building, he hoped that she would remember him and wouldn't mind him stopping by. He went inside and knocked on the door. Sandie opened the door and was surprised to see Zack standing there.

"Detective, what are you doing here?" She asked him.

"I hope you don't mind but I needed to see you," he told her, "I know we barely know each other but I can't stop thinking about you."

"Zack, I, uh, don't know what to say," Sandie was flattered that he came all this way just to see her.

"Don't say anything," he told her. He entered the apartment and closed the door behind him. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her lips, then he pulled her body close to his. He pushed her up against the wall, kissing her neck, he then took off her top and bra and kissed her breasts. Sandie moaned as she reached for his already hard member. They helped each other out of their clothes and made their way to the floor where Zack entered Sandie. He made love to her and didn't care that she was engaged, he had to have her. After they finished, they lay there for a few moments before Sandie got up and dressed.

"Zack, you have to go," she told him, "my fiance will be home soon."

It was too late. Just as Zack was putting on his shirt, the door opened and in walked Greg.
