A pair of hands slammed on top of his desk.
"Why did you make him the leader?"
"Whoever do you mean Glynda?" Ozpin questioned with a raised eyebrow.
The woman in front of him frowned and glared. "You know who I speak of, even his own agent warned us of his behavior Ozpin. So, I must ask, and please do take it seriously, why make Jaune Arc the leader of his team when even his own agent of all people advised against it?!" Seriously, if even his own agent told them not to make him the leader then he was clearly a lost cause!
The Headmaster calmly took a sip from his mug, the taste of coffee covered his tongue before it went down his throat with a gulp. He then looked to his assistant again, who did not look amused by his action if her glare was anything to go by. His calming smile didn't seem to have the desired effect on it either.
"I'm sure you already know why, or at least have an idea." He eventually said after setting his mug down.
"You plan to use him as an example on how not to be a leader and then make Nikos the leader?" Glynda said with a hopeful expression, was the Headmaster finally making reasonable decisions?
"No," her hopeful expression died instantly, "I plan to make him more… motivated, so to speak, through his teammates."
The deputy headmistress sighed, of course he would hope for something like that. "I understand what you're trying to do Ozpin, truly I do, but it just will not work on this boy, his arrogance and laziness just won't allow it." Truly, does he think that Arc's teammates would somehow whip the boy into shape? He would most likely give them all a beat down before even thinking of taking his leadership role seriously.
"You believe the problem is his superiority complex, and it is one of them I will admit, but I believe that the real issue he has is… motivation."
Glynda raised an eyebrow.
"Mr. Arc is indeed strong – perhaps even too strong – and this has led to him to be overconfident, and as you said, lazy." His rather lanky body was proof enough. "But have you noticed that he hasn't boasted about his strength much? Instead, he uses it face things that even professional huntsmen would hesitate to fight alone and eagerly fought against it a second time."
It didn't take her long to realize what the Headmaster was talking about. "The Death Stalker."
Ozpin nodded.
"Still, bragging or not, such arrogance is dangerous and will get him killed in the future."
"Perhaps, but you and I know that won't be happening any time soon." If ever, the boy's semblance was simply too strong. "Regardless, his overconfidence isn't really an issue, his motivation is."
"And just what makes you so sure about that?" Glynda asked as she crossed her arms. "He clearly wants to be a huntsman if he enrolled here."
Ozpin's expression turned into a contemplative one. "But why doeshe want to be a huntsman? Does he truly want to help people, or is becoming a huntsman simply what he thinks he must do?"
It's a beautiful outside Beacon academy, birds are singing, flowers are blooming.
"I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHINGGG." The music exploded in Jaune's ears, causing the boy to open his eyes wide and instantly lean up from his bed. He smacked his head on something hard and he did his title proud – he fell back down on his bed and cradled his forehead with a wince.
"PROVOKINGGG, BLACK CLOUDS IN ISOLATIONNN." His eye twitched as he finally realized why there was an annoyingly loud music currently destroying his ear drums, it was the alarm he set-up for himself because he knew just how hard he was to wake up. It was so bad that it even caused him to be late on a few matches. Still though, what the fuck was going through his mind when he set this up?!
"I AM RECLAIMER OF MY NAMEEE." His hand groped around the nightstand beside his bed, searching for the scroll he placed on it the night before. He eventually found it and his fingers kept swiping on the screen randomly until music playing in his ears finally stopped. It was replaced with the sound of laughter however, causing him to sigh before he begrudgingly leaned up from the comfort of his bed.
Jaune raised an eyebrow at seeing his partner cradle her forehead on her bed, sporting a red spot similar to his. Wait a minute, was she-
"Oh my god vomit boy, that was the funniest thing I've ever seen." Yang said as she wiped a tear from her eye, grinning as he gave her a glare in return. She could easily tell that there was no heat behind it, if anything, he was just annoyed.
Jaune shook his head before his hands went up his ears and pulled out the wireless earphones, he then placed them within their case. He realized something as he closed the small case and looked at each of his teammates, his eyes moving over to Pyrrha, Yang, and… Ah right, Blake.
They were all wearing their uniforms.
"…Please don't tell me that class is about to start."
"Nah." Yang waved at him dismissively. "Class starts after around 30 minutes or so, Pyrrha was just about to wake you up."
"Is that why she was looming over my bed like a stalker?"
"Hey!"
"Yep." Yang nodded with a big smile.
"Yang!"
Jaune released a tired sigh as Yang tried to goad Pyrrha into throwing hands with her, and was… not successful… yet? Ah whatever, it was too early for this shit.
Although his teammates began to stare at him strangely for some reason when he stood up, making him sigh in exasperation… again. Looking down, he saw nothing out of the ordinary on his person, not even a wet stain of his drool or something. And he wasn't in his boxers either, so that cliché was out the window.
"Is there something on my face?" He asked in an irritated tone, looking rightly miffed as the three continued to stare at him.
"Dude." Yang couldn't even bring herself to laugh as she looked at her leader, struggling to ascertain that what she was seeing was real and not her imagination. Her esteemed leader was wearing a… a bunny onesie. "D-Do you know what you're wearing?"
He looked down briefly, before looking back at her with a questioning look. "It's my onesie…?" It was just his sleepwear, what's so weird about it?
"I think what Yang's trying to say is, why are you wearing one?" Pyrrha interjected as she gave her partner a strange look, one that slowly shifted to curiosity as she further stared at him. She had to admit, he actually looked kind of cute now that she thought about it- No! Bad Pyrrha! Bad!
"It's comfy." Jaune said simply, showing exactly how much he cared about how he's 17 and shouldn't be wearing what is supposed to be children's pajamas. Like, who cares about social norms when it's comfortable anyway? He knew he didn't.
It seems his team clearly did though, if their awkward looks were any indication.
"…Should I wear something else next-"
"Yes!" Yang shouted immediately. Never wanting to see her leader in children's clothing ever again, and was already working on purging the memory from her mind.
…
The blonde berserker slowly came to a startling realization as seconds passed by, one that filled her with great fear and despair. She was the only one who had agreed.
"Guys?" She turned to the other occupants of the room with a pleading look.
"W-Well, I don't really mind it that much." Pyrrha said with a bashful look when the girl looked at her. Sorry Yang, but seeing Jaune like this was just too good to pass up! She'll have to secretly take pictures somehow when no one was looking- just for the memories of course! Yes. Definitely just to serve as a remembrance, and not as a wallpaper for her scroll… definitely not that.
Yang looked to her partner for her help, surely she also didn't want to see their esteemed leader wearing a child's pajamas… right?
Blake just stayed silent and flipped onto the next page of her book, showing exactly how much she cared about the current situation. Not once did she notice how Yang's face fell into one of despair as she looked towards their leader, who was looking at the girl with a smug grin.
"…Goddammit." Yang said, her shoulders slumping at seeing her leader look like an absolute child with that dumb grin on his face. Though did she hear a scroll snap just now? Eh, must have been the wind.
Classes, a word to depict an occasion where students are being taught by a teacher.
And in a school made for Huntsmen, one would naturally expect all classes to be completely educational and highly practical. Afterall, they are the place where humanity's defenders are to be taught and trained. And upon their graduation, were expected to be experts in handling Grimm, i.e., how to commit fucking murder on them.
Even Jaune held such high expectations for the classes of Beacon, expecting to learn something new that he never could have in his time at the tournaments. Lazy he may be, but even he knew when to get serious from time to time… which he hardly ever was. But hey, could you blame him? His semblance practically rendered all forms of combat useless against him, and even allowed him to use his enemy's moves just as well as they did.
"Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me-"
Jaune sighed, his half-lidded eyes openly displaying how he felt about the current 'class' that was ongoing. Only Port's annoyingly tiring voice could be heard throughout the classroom. A brief glance around would show him that his classmates were doing the same as he and not give a shit about the fat man, they were either doing their own things or were straight-up sleeping.
Like Yang, who was snoring rather loudly beside him on his left, and Blake as well, who was reading a book titled 'Ninja's of Love'. A strangely familiar title, he felt that he- no, he knew that he read it before. He just couldn't fully remember it, perhaps it was one of the many novels that he dropped due to it failing to keep him interested?
"But then I remembered that my uncle once said: 'With great power, comes great responsibility'. So with great determination in my heart, I-"
This… this was somehow more tiring than that match where he fought two Huntsmen at the same time, he won of course, but it was the most exhausting match he ever had.
With each word that comes out of Port's mouth, Jaune could feel his energy being sapped away from him. The thought of sleeping came to him and he dismissed it just as quickly, that was not an option if he wanted to get to the next class… Which he really didn't want to, but he'd prefer walking to it rather than being dragged into it.
Fortunately for Jaune, and his team, he was able to keep himself awake by playing a game on his scroll. Nothing interesting really happened other than when Port called a volunteer to fight a Grimm in class or something, he only took one glance at the said Grimm before he went back to playing his game. It was just a Boarbatusk that any of them could easily handle.
He was also able to get to the next class without trouble, and even more fortunately for him, the current class was going quite well from him. However, the same could not be said for his team… along with the rest of his classmates.
"So, prior to the Faunus Rights Revolution – or more popularly known as the Faunus War – humankind was quite, quite adamant about centralizing Faunus population in Menagerie."
To Jaune, it was easy to understand the things Professor Oobleck was saying, barely an inconvenience to write down what he was saying down on his notebook. That is to say, his hand was writing just as fast as the Professor was speaking word-for-word. The rest of the students however… let's just say that they weren't doing as well as Jaune was.
"Write that down, write that down!"
"I'm trying Yang, so stop shaking me!" Blake said, writing down notes with her left hand and trying to push Yang off with the other. Desperation could easily be seen in her eyes, along with other students', as she tried her absolute best to keep up with their fast-talking Professor. Due to her efforts, she was slightly more successful than the others.
Jaune rolled his eight-starred eyes at the duo. "Aren't you two being too dramatic about this?"
"None of us have bullshit eye hacks like you Jaune!"
Sheesh she didn't have to go that far. Well at least his partner wasn't being as dramatic as they were- The sight of his partner rapidly writing on her notebook with a desperate look on her face stopped his train of thought right on its tracks. Somehow, she was looking more desperate than the Schnee was, and that's saying something since the girl herself was not so discreetly looking at the notebook of the person below her then going back to writing on hers.
Jaune sighed and looked back at Oobleck, his semblance allowing him to know what the man was saying. He hummed in thought for a moment before he opened his mouth. "You guys know that you can borrow my notes, right?"
The three froze, making Jaune feel slightly awkward since he was now the only one writing on their table.
"R-Really?" Yang eventually asked after a short while, her wide eyes so clearly filled with hope as she stared at her leader.
Jaune simply nodded.
The blonde girl smiled, it was a rather big smile… too big. "Oh, my dear sweet leader who I love so much!" Yang said as she wrapped her arms around Jaune's shoulders, who was looking at her with an expression that clearly said: 'What the fuck?'
"Yang let go of him, how is he supposed to write with you all over him like that." Blake said, pulling her partner off of their team leader.
"Hey, I just want to show him my appreciation." Yang protested with a pout.
"You can show Jaune your 'appreciation' later after class is over and when he's done writing!" Blake said, glaring at the blonde berserker.
"Can we really borrow your notes Jaune?" Pyrrha asked with a meek expression as the two descended into an argument. By Oum, she hoped that he wasn't lying about it. Truth be told, now that she actually took a look at Jaune's notes as he was writing and then hers… well, the less said about hers the better.
"Yeah you guys can. I can remember it all anyways since I'm writing it." Due to his semblance of course.
"Really? If that's the case, then why are you writing it down?" Pyrrha asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Since everyone else was doing it, I thought I also had to do it too so… yeah." Jaune said with a shrug.
"I see… well thanks!" Pyrrha smiled gratefully at her partner.
"Hm? For what?"
"For letting us borrow your notes. Honestly, looking at your notes now, it's clear that they're so much better than mine." Pyrrha said, scratching the back of her head with a sheepish expression.
"Is that so? Mind if I take a look at yours then-"
"N-No! Just focus on writing and don't worry about my notes." Pyrrha said as she turned Jaune's face away from her notebook and towards their Professor instead.
"Oh relax Pyrrha," Yang said as she swiped the girl's notebook from her side of the table, "I'm sure that your notes can't be that bad-"
The mistral champion threw herself at Yang.
Blake hissed as she pulled her legs up, Pyrrha and Yang going into a tussle on the floor next to her. And Jaune? He simply shrugged at the scene and looked back at Oobleck to continue writing down notes, and hey if anyone asked why he didn't step in, all he had to say was that his partner told him not to. She technically did anyway.
"Pyrrha what the heck- ow!"
"Give me back my notebook Yang!"
"What is causing that racket?" Oobleck questioned aloud as he looked around the classroom for the source of the disturbance, causing Pyrrha and Yang to freeze as they realized their current situation.
Upon seeing that there was no longer any noise and that Jaune had two empty seats on both his sides, Oobleck came to the most logical conclusion. "Eh, must've been the wind." He shrugged before he went back to his lecture.
"How the heck did you not get hit by Pyrrha, Jaune?" Yang asked as she nursed a bruise on her forehead.
"Bullshit eye hacks remember." Jaune said before he bit into a chicken leg. All he did back then at Oobleck's classroom was lean back to let Pyrrha pass by him completely when she suddenly jumped in his direction.
"Ah, right…"
"I am so sorry." Pyrrha apologized for what Yang felt like was the hundredth time, and considering that the girl has been doing that ever since they left Oobleck's classroom and up until now where they were having their lunch, she couldn't be too far off.
"Pyrrha, I already told you, it's fine." Yang said with a sigh.
"But-"
"It. Is. Fine." Yang gave the girl a flat look before going back to eating her food, which consisted of a lot of meat and some vegetables. "Honestly, I'm surprised we didn't even get in trouble for that."
"Just chalk it up to bs luck."
"Even more bs than your bs semblance?" Yang said with a teasing grin.
Jaune raised an eyebrow. "Nothing is more bullshit than my semblance."
"Pfftt." Yang couldn't help but laugh at that as she clutched her stomach, drawing some attention to her table as she slapped it in her laughter… Well, more attention anyway. Having two champions of two different kingdoms together in one table tends to draw attention no matter the situation.
"Hey guys!" Ruby called out as she approached team JPBY's table with her team, each of them carrying trays of their own. "Ooh, Yang what happened to your head?" The silver-eyed girl asked as she sat down next to her sister, the rest of her team taking a seat on the table as well… most of them anyway, they were a member short now that Yang looked.
"Ah this? Let's just say that there was an… accident of a sort." Yang Xiao-Long was no snitch!
"You didn't get into a fight, did you?" Ruby narrowed her eyes at her sister, her cute face shifting into the deadliest weapon known to man, a Ruby Rose pout.
Pyrrha grimaced as Yang paled and squirmed under its might, her willpower rapidly vanishing as she stared into the Ruby Rose pout. Curse her sister's cuteness! "N-No, of course not."
"Hmm, really?"
A drop of sweat slid down from her head and traveled down to her chin, before gravity won out and dropped it down to the cold hard floor of the cafeteria. "Yes, really."
Ruby examined her sister's face for a while, before she eventually relented. "Okay I believe you."
Yang let out a sigh of relief as Ruby finally stopped pouting, any longer and she would have folded under it's might. "By the way Rubes, where's your partner Weiss?" She asked as she ate her food.
Ruby froze right as she was about to bite her cookie, she placed it down with a resigned look before she spoke. "She… needs some time to think… I think. Honestly, I think I need some time to think too actually."
"Oh yeah? About what?" Yang said in between bites of her food.
"About… well, about my duty I guess." Ruby ate a cookie in one bite before she continued. "I'm the leader of a team now, so I-I have to start doing better!" She said with a determined look.
"Don't worry fearless leader, we'll support you all the way! Right Ren?" Nora said with a cheerful smile, elbowing Ren when he didn't speak, causing him to cough as he nearly spat out the soup he just drank. "Yeah he supports you too." The ginger girl provided ever so helpfully while the quiet boy coughed beside her.
"Hehe, thanks guys." Ruby said with a grateful smile, only for it to be wiped away when Yang began to ruffle the top of her head.
"Don't worry Rubes, I'm sure you'll do great. Heck, Jaune will even help you out with your leadership duties." Yang said with a grin, not noticing Jaune pause in his eating and narrow his eyes at the back of her head.
"He will?"
"Yep-"
"No, I won't." Jaune interjected, sparing a glare for Yang before he redirected his attention to his plate. "I got better things to do than to help Ruby, besides I'm sure she can handle all the crap they send us."
"She was moved ahead two years Jaune." Yang said with a glare.
"That's rough buddy, but I still have better things to do."
"And what are those things exactly?" Yang crossed her arms. "What, you gonna study or something?"
"No." Jaune seemed to gain a glint in his eye as he raised his head to look at Yang. "I'm going to watch anime."
"…Huh?"
"Ooh! Isn't that a show where giant robots fight giant monsters or something?" Nora excitedly interjected.
"That's an anime yeah, but no I'm not watching those kinds of shows."
"Then are you watching the ones where a girl transforms into some sort of magician?" Pyrrha asked with a disturbed look.
"No, and I'm more likely to watch a mecha anime before I watch one of those." Jaune said with a flat look.
"Oh, it's fine Jaune." Yang said in a teasing tone with the grin to match. "You can tell us the truth, we won't judge."
Jaune's eye twitched. "I don't watch magical girls."
"But you know what it's called." Blake said, hiding her smirk with the aid of her book.
"I'm an experienced weeb, of course I know what those kinds of shows are called." Jaune's voice was starting to rise, and he could've sworn that he was starting feel a vein throbbing on his forehead.
"Still, that's kinda sus Jaune." Ren suddenly said with a smirk of his own, causing everyone at the table to look at him in shock.
"What the fuck did you just say?!" Except for Jaune of course.
After changing into his combat gear, which consisted of a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and black combat boots, Jaune grumbled as he sat down on one of many benches in their current classroom, though his teammates didn't seem to share his sentiments as they sat down with smiles and giggles instead. Was it too late to ask to be placed in a one-man team? Surely it was reasonable to ask, he is already Huntsman-level after all.
"Oh, come on Jaune don't be so grouchy." Yang said with a mischievous smirk. "I told you, we won't judge you for what kinds of shows you watch. So, it's totally fine if you watch magical girls' anime." She patted his shoulder 'supportively'.
Jaune's eyes narrowed to tiny dots as he stared at the hand on his shoulder then at the annoying smile of the owner of said hand. It all started with her didn't it? If she just didn't bother him about helping her sister in her studies about being a leader, which he didn't know jack shit about either, then no one would think that he was actually watching some sort of magical girls' anime. And he wasn't!
"Yang."
"Yes?" She replied with a smile that made Jaune want to punch her in the face so badly.
"You better pray to Oum that you and I won't be placed in a match today, because believe me if we do, I will send you to Jesus." Jaune said, his tone one of utter seriousness as he looked at Yang, who looked more confused than scared for some reason.
"…Who's Jesus?"
"Students." Glynda said, stopping Jaune from replying as the classroom descended into silence.
"Welcome to our first combat class-" Jaune didn't bother listening to Glynda's speech as he looked around the classroom in slight amazement, all the students, even the rowdiest among them, had fallen into silence and was listening to every word that Glynda was saying. Was she famous for being strict or something?
"As such I will be only calling the team leaders for today's class. Jaune Arc of Team Jazzberry!"
"Hm?" Jaune looked towards their professor with a raised eyebrow, not noticing his team wince at their name. He did get up and made his way to stage, though, that was only after his partner nudged him and whispered that he was supposed to.
"And Ruby Rose of Team Rune!"
The girl let out an 'eep' before she stood up and hurried to the stage, nearly making Jaune trip due to the girl's cuteness and he didn't even take a single step. That had to be a semblance of some sort. Channeling aura to his eyes to activate his own semblance, Jaune stared at Ruby and began to scan her for any sign of a semblance usage. It had to be a semblance, he was sure of it!
"Remember, there are two ways to win, either by ring-out or by making your opponent's aura fall into the red. Is that clear?"
"Y-Yes Miss Goodwitch!" Ruby said with a salute, making Glynda raise an eyebrow before she dismissed it with a wave.
"And you Mister Arc?"
"Hm? Yeah sure, it's clear, whatever." Glynda's eye twitched
"If that's the case, then repeat what I just said."
Jaune rolled his eyes. "We win by either ring-out, or by making our opponent's aura fall into the red." He was listening you know, though was it just him or did she actually look disappointed by that fact?
"Very good, now get into position."
Ruby's face grew serious as she drew her weapon from her back and unfolded it into its scythe form, aiming the weapon behind her and cocked it. Her expression was one of grim determination as she looked at her opponent, she was definitely going to lose, no doubt about that, but she was going to give it her best shot anyway!
Jaune's face didn't change from it's bored look as he pulled out his knuckleduster and equipped it on his right hand, he then fell into a stance, shocking many who had watched his matches because he had never got into a stance before. Jaune placed his right leg far back and leaned downwards, his open left hand was hovering over his right one as he stared directly at Ruby.
Ruby gulped as she realized what the implications of this meant and she too leaned downwards, she was going to have to go all out at the start if she wanted to survive the first few seconds. She could already see what was going to happen if she didn't, she would fire Crescent Rose and dash towards Jaune, only for him to be in front of her with a burst of speed and hit her with a devastating punch, ending the match in only a few seconds. She would just have to be faster than him for that to not happen, and she was… right?
"Are the both of you ready?"
The two fighters merely nodded, both of them understanding the seriousness of their current situation.
"Then… begin!" Glynda's crop came down between them.
Ruby fired Crescent Rose instantly and dashed towards her opponent, fully prepared to act when Jaune also dashed towards her. Only for her to panic and swing her scythe forward when he threw something at her, by the time she looked back, Jaune was already in front of her with his hands poised to grab her.
Thinking quickly, Ruby activated her semblance and with a shower of roses, she was far away from Jaune. Or so she thought, the boy was already in front of her with a trail of golden rose petals behind him. Before she could do anything, he had already grabbed her by the cheeks and- wait her cheeks?
"Ow!" Ruby cried out as Jaune began to pull her cheeks, making her drop Crescent Rose in order to try to pull his hands off her. She wasn't successful. "Jwaune staph itt."
Jaune ignored her as he pulled the girl's cheeks towards one side then the other side, all with a curious look as he stared at her. Hmm, so far, the only sign of a semblance that Ruby had was that weird rose thing that he copied, but that couldn't be it. "Ruby, what's your semblance?"
"You awleady saw itt."
"Hmm, no that can't be it."
"But it is!" Ruby shouted out as tears welled up from the corner of her eyes.
"Liar." Was Jaune's simple reply as he pulled her cheeks apart wider, making the girl increase her effort into trying to get him to unhand her. Tough luck for Ruby though, he has A LOT of aura.
"Mister Arc."
"Hm?" Jaune turned to Glynda with a raised eyebrow, she didn't look happy for some reason. Then again, she probably never was.
"What exactly are you doing?" She asked in a tone that would have made any other student grovel before her and beg for forgiveness, even if they didn't know what they did wrong. He could already see its effects as even Ruby was affected by it and stopped her struggling, why the hell was she affected by it though? Glynda wasn't even looking at her!
"I am looking for a sign of Ruby's semblance."
"…But she has already revealed it and even told you of it."
"She's lying."
Glynda stared, she was already getting a headache from the boy and it was only the first day of class. She sighed in exasperation and rubbed her forehead. "You do realize that this is a spar, yes?"
"Yeah, why?"
Glynda's crop cracked from how hard she was holding it. "Then take it seriously you buffoon!" Ruby was starting to cry, and she wasn't even the one being yelled at by their professor.
"Yeah I can't do that." Jaune said, moving behind Ruby and making her face Glynda as he pulled her cheeks. She nearly fainted just from looking at their professor's face. "I really can't bring myself to punch this face." Well, he could punch Ruby's cute face, but his art of not giving a fuck wouldn't be able to protect him from the emotional damage that would follow.
Glynda gritted her teeth. "Then by default, you forfeit and Miss Rose wins. Are you fine with that?"
Jaune thought about it for a moment, before he shrugged and nodded. "Yeah sure, why not." He really didn't mind losing his title, his agent would surely understand why he lost when he looked at Ruby.
Glynda looked at Ruby for a moment, the girl was shaking her head wildly. The blonde woman sighed, she couldn't have the poor girl be burdened with the consequences of 'winning' against Jaune. "Miss Rose, do you wish to forfeit?"
The silver-eyed girl nodded vehemently.
"Then Jaune Arc is the winner of the match, now get off my stage Arc."
"Sheesh you don't have to be mad." Jaune said as he released Ruby and walked off the stage, not noticing that Glynda was giving him a death glare as he walked pass her.
"Oh right, my knuckleduster-" He caught his weapon with his left hand, a purple glow surrounded it before it receded. Though did he hear Glynda just 'tsk'? Nah, it must've been the wind.
As Jaune sat down on his team's bench and deactivated his semblance, Yang immediately began laughing into his shoulder and slapped his back as she did.
"Jaune." He turned to his partner as he tried to push Yang off him, Pyrrha was giving him a pleading look. "Please don't ever do that again."
"Hey it's not my fault that Ruby's so cute, can you just imagine punching her in the face with a knuckleduster."
Pyrrha did and looked towards the girl, she was rubbing her red cheeks as Ren and Nora comforted her. "…Understandable."
"Ah, finally, Class is over." Yang said as she jumped on top of her bed, making Jaune raise an eyebrow.
"You didn't even do much Yang." The only boy of the team said as he opened his lapscroll on his desk.
"Uh, yes I did."
"You slept on Port's class and also Oobleck's class since I was writing down notes for us, in Peach's class you were surprisingly paying attention, and finally you didn't even fight on Glynda's combat class."
"Minor details." Yang waved him off. "By the way, can I have the notes-" Jaune's notebook hit the blonde girl square in the face.
Pyrrha couldn't help but chuckle at their antics as she sat down on her bed, she was worried at first that the team wouldn't get along since Jaune was rather… carefree, to say the least, but they were all getting along just fine. Except for Blake, she supposed, but the quiet girl did join in on their antics a few times. So, perhaps she was just shy.
As time passed by, Pyrrha noticed that everyone was beginning to do their own things. Jaune was busy watching something on his lapscroll, Yang was reading his notebook, and Blake was reading some sort of novel. The mistral champion couldn't help but feel awkward as she sat on her bed, now that she thought about it, she really didn't have any hobbies. She spent most of her time training and fighting in tournaments… just like Jaune.
"Hey Jaune." Pyrrha said as she walked over to her partner, but the boy didn't seem to notice her as his eyes stayed glued to the screen of his lapscroll. "Um, Jaune?" She tried again, but he still hasn't heard her.
With a frown, Pyrrha shook Jaune's shoulder. Now that got his attention, he paused whatever he was watching and sighed before he turned towards her.
"What?" He asked with an annoyed look as he pulled out a wireless earphone on his right ear.
"Sorry for bothering you, but I was just wondering what you were watching." Pyrrha asked, her expression nervous.
"It's anime." Was Jaune's flat response.
"I see, well… is it okay if I watch it with you?" Jaune raised an eyebrow. "I-If it's alright of course, it's okay if you don't want to." Oh Oum, why did she have to ask that?! It's obvious that he just wanted to watch it alone if he was wearing earphones! Stupid Pyrrha, stupi-
Her thoughts froze as Jaune threw the earphone he was holding in his right hand towards her, she barely caught it with a surprised yelp.
"If you're gonna start watching anime," Jaune turned back to his lapscroll, "I can't have you starting off with Seven Deadly Sins."
"O-Oh, is it really important-"
"Yes, it is." Jaune seemed to finish typing something on his lapscroll before he turned back towards her. "So, this is the anime you're gonna watch first."
Pyrrha leaned forward with a curious look and began to read the title out loud. "One Punch Man…?"
I'm finally back after two months! Thank god, now the guilt is no longer killing me.
Now I know what you all are thinking, does Jaune really not watch a magical girl anime? Yes, he doesn't… Or does he? Nah, I'm just playing, he really doesn't.
And yeah, there's quite a few references in this chapter lol. I'm sure that most of you won't be able to catch them all.
So yeah, that's about it, see ya.
