Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Sins of the Father. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Metal Gear, Konami, Hideo Kojima and a few others do.

If there was one thing Void Wing was trained to be good at? It was excelling at infiltration which they currently pulled off without a hitch.

Owl still remembered that his group was allowed to kill if needed, and their status as Genome Soldiers would remain intact.

What bothered Owl was the sound of a Hind Gunship… what was a Russian helicopter doing in American soil? He turned to Dingo.

"Hey, Owl?" Dingo's secure line lit up; Owl wanted to ignore it.

While the Idroids that Void Wing used had a secure line as tested numerous times at Mother Base? Owl really didn't wish to make people suspicious.

"Yes, Dingo?" Owl turned in the snow and marched back, he was glad Snake didn't come through the snowfields…

"Did the report say anything about KA-60s?" Owl was about to scold his fellow soldier before the sound of rotor blades filled the air.

A pair of KA-60 'Kasatka' Helicopters flew overhead. Owl watched them in disbelief. Russians? What would Russians want with an American Nuclear disposal site.

"What the hell?" Owl muttered; his freezing cold breath was nothing to the chill he felt running down his spine like a centipede.

What in the name of everything were Russian forces during on site? That went against everything their briefing pointed out… was this entire operation doomed to fail from the start?

"Dingo? Call it in, short burst… this entire mission is going fubar quickly. FOXHOUND can't know, there wasn't a single person who could have ratted us out." Owl muttered before he heard a howl.

He turned and was greeted by an animal the Diamond Dogs, and therefor Void Wing, was familiar with.

A wolfdog, similar to D-Dog. The mascot of Diamond Dogs… it was a very sad day when the animal could no longer live due to age. Miller had used the moment as a teaching experience to show how death happens on and off the battlefield.

The animal rushed by the duo; Owl could swear he saw a figure marching through the snow. He shook his head; he was seeing things.

"Owl? Miller just gave new orders, secure the armory… he sent Snake there for something." Dingo watched the commander of Void Wing sigh… then he grabbed his rifle.

Dingo thumbed his radio and sent a short message before the radio crackled.

"Yes, sir… I'll make sure it's done." He stated before going off to fulfill his assigned role.

(With Owl)

Crossing the Snowfields meant coming face to face with more Genome soldiers… the last thing that Owl wanted to do was deal with Liquid's private army.

But if Miller ordered them to do it? he'd do it since it clearly supported the mission.

It was one of the first real missions Void Wing undertook. While Owl was busy coordinating missions as Miller wanted Owl to be used to the experience of giving orders before sending him into a real gunfight.

Miller didn't like fake drills; he would rather have the soldiers fight with live ammo so they knew the fact that they'd be in gunfights for real. Owl knew he was going into combat for real sooner or later.

He hummed, Owl looked over his shoulder and noticed nobody was behind him.

"All this snow… so peaceful, yet so fleeting… this place is so quiet, and yet so haunting…" Owl muttered, he turned his head back in front of him and kept walking.

He had a knack for soliloquy according to his commander, then again? Everyone needed a hobby when they weren't busy fighting for their lives.

As soon as he entered the building? That was when things grew more quiet than usual. He should have seen it coming.

Then again? The fact that he didn't expect sudden gunfire which caused him to roll for cover within the building.

"What the hell?" Owl rolled his eyes, the fact that he had just asked that question not only a few minutes escaped his thoughts.

"Dragon, I need backup!" Static came from his Idroid… static? How in the name of god did he get static!?

Owl cursed and aimed his rifle out the door before looking into the snow. He looked at his rifle and then sighed, Owl raised his FAMAS and fired into the snow.

So much for the element of surprise, it seemed like this entire mission was doomed to go downhill over and over and over.

"Screw it." Owl wasn't going to wait for Void Wing to show up to save him, his men needed to get the infiltration done and help Snake.

If he died? Then he died for Void Wing. His men needed the mission to work… he'd give them as much time as possible.

So, he emptied his magazine into the snow, maybe killing some of Liquid's men would help.

At least one grunted in pain, falling into the snow. He blinked and continued shooting.

Author notes

Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out Owl is going to meet Sniper officially soon… and Dingo I am going to put a lot of effort into writing. Next chapter will be in a week or so and will show Owl fighting off Liquid's men. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
