Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Sins of the Father. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Metal Gear, Konami, Hideo Kojima and a few others do.
Owl heard the sound of gunfire in the distance. He didn't need to be a genius to know Snake was finally here.
Owl readied his rifle. He wasn't going to kill snake, even if he could… Owl doubted his skill was enough to match Snake if he had ripped through everyone else here.
Owl paused; Snake was here. Owl could hear the door opening on the other side of the plains. Wolf tensed to fire, revenge for her wolfhounds… Her hunt would finally come to an end.
That was before a bullet cut through the air and caused her to roll down the plain. Snake went to cover as the remaining Genome Soldiers went to engage Snake.
Wolf turned and fired, blood coming from a gash in her side. Her rifle smoked as she looked at the being who dared to attack her.
Owl hissed in pain as crimson painted his cheek. He ripped the ruined balaclava off his head and tossed it to the ground. Owl quickly put a burst into the Genome soldier next to him.
The soldier collapsed as Owl felt another round graze his side. He was glad at least his body didn't get a round stuck in it. He had come too far to die in the snow.
"So, we did have another soldier loose on the base…" Wolf stated as Snake decided to make a run for it. The remaining Genome soldiers with Wolf decided to pursue him.
"I'm not going to let you kill Snake, Wolf." Owl said as his spiky black hair waved in the snowy wind. The cold bit at both of their faces. "We don't have to fight; I don't want to have to kill you." Owl stated while the cut on his face oozed and bubbled.
Owl looked at the sniper who narrowed her eyes. Both of their wounds turned the snow from blissful white to deathly red. They were warriors.
Wolf didn't have to speak for Owl to know what her answer. Owl wasn't going to kill Wolf, but this was going to still be a battle. Neither was going to fall without a fight.
(On the other side of the island.)
Dust dragged himself to the railing. He looked at Bear as the duo climbed to the feet. He was glad Bear was able to fire his weapon and wound Dingo.
It would be hard telling Owl one of their own had betrayed them. Dust knew their group was a very tight knit little bundle of soldiers and such.
"Can someone try and raise Owl?" Dust asked as he leaned on the railing. His body armor still managed to protect him enough.
"I'm trying, this storm has been ripping up the signal left and right." Bear stated while sighing. They blinked as they could faintly hear gunfire somewhere and shared a look.
"Is Owl busy fighting?" Bear asked before trying to ring Owl's Idroid once more to get an answer on if his commander was wounded or worse.
(With Owl)
Owl rolled out of the way of Wolf's sights. He tossed a magazine to the side and presented another to his rifle.
"You picked until now to blow your cover?" Wolf asked as Owl hummed and nodded.
"I didn't plan on blowing it until now…" Owl stated while trying to get a bead on Wolf. He would give the sniper one thing. She was very skilled at her job. "But you have to have known how any fight with Snake was going to end." Owl added to the sniper.
Wolf wouldn't have beaten Snake. Owl questioned if even Liquid could really defeat Snake at this point.
"You ruined the last hunt I would have ever taken." Owl heard from Wolf as he shook his head at the sniper.
"That hunt would have also taken your life." Owl stated while he fired a burst which caused the sniper to vanish into the snow.
Owl cursed, if Wolf got out of his range? She would rip him apart before he could properly respond to the attack in kind.
"And you wish to spare it?" Wolf questioned in return before Owl stalked around the other side of the tree.
He rolled to the side as Wolf fired. The bullet didn't hit him, but it did shave the bark off one of the trees.
"I'm not going to kill a soldier whose skills could be put to better use then this." Owl stated before firing in her direction. He didn't hear anything, so he assumed he missed. "Foxhound had to be one of the best units in the world… And you threw that away for Liquid's terrorism revenge plan?" Owl questioned the sniper.
Owl fired once more, managing to Knick Wolf in the leg and send her falling into a snowbank.
Owl knew better then to assume she was defeated.
'Corner a wolf and it will fight to the death.' Owl mentally thought.
Author notes
Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out I'm going to make the next part of the fight a lot longer but it will take a bit. Next chapter is going to be in 1-2 weeks and will show the rest of the battle between Owl and Wolf. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
