Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Sins of the Father. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Metal Gear, Konami, Hideo Kojima and a few others do.
Owl panted and laid in the snow. He couldn't feel his legs. If he didn't have the ability to still see them? Owl might have thought they had fallen off due to the pain coursing through them.
"You still didn't kill me…" Wolf whispered as Owl turned to look at the wounded sniper. She sat across from him as Owl nodded and looked around. He had to make sure nobody was coming to finish them off.
Nobody, no company besides the cold winter wind blowing through the area. Owl sighed and pulled his feet in.
"I told you I wasn't going to… You're a slave to Foxhound." Owl stated before brushing off the frozen wounds on his face. "I'm not going to let you throw your life away dying for a bunch of terrorists." Owl said while letting out a long breath.
Sniper cracked something resembling a smile as Owl rolled his eyes. They heard the sound of wolves before Owl raised an eyebrow.
"Your hunting dogs?" Owl asked only to get a nod from Wolf. "They remind me of the dog that my mother unit had at the moment." Owl stated before cracking his neck. He groaned in pain.
"Hmm… You wanted me to fight you rather then die fighting Snake." Wolf stated while Owl hummed and nodded with amusement. "You expected me to die so much that you put your life at risk? I don't understand you 'Owl'. "Wolf stated while Owl chuckled and cracked a smile.
"To be utterly fair?" Owl asked and slowly checked his rifle. "You were one of the toughest fights I've had so much." Owl stated before he slowly managed to pull himself to his feet.
Owl put his rifle on his back and looked around. Owl cracked his arms and slowly walked over towards Wolf.
He was cut off by one of the wolf dogs. The animal looked at Owl and growled, raising its hind legs. Owl could see a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth as the animal snarled.
"He reminds me of D-dog." Owl stated. He thought back to the past. remembering the legendary hound. It was the dog that served as Venom's companion… When Quiet wasn't around.
"D-Dog?" Wolf questioned as the dog growled while Owl slowly approached the animal. "The dog that worked with Venom Snake?" Wolf asked Owl who nodded.
"Yes, that dog." Owl stated as he leaned down to pat the animal on the head. It growled before sniffing his hand. "It's a wolf, though. I'm not going to butcher them. Just like I'm not going to murder you." Owl added while grinding his fist into his hand.
Owl patted the dog on the head as the animal whined and leaned into his hand. Owl chuckled while leaning down in the snow.
"Your something else." Wolf stated before the doors opened. Owl was greeted by his unit.
"Owl, Dingo betrayed us!" Dust put in while Owl turned to look at Wolf.
Owl frowned as his men pointed their rifles at Wolf. The wolf guarding her growled at them. Owl grabbed their rifles and pointed them away from the woman.
"No. She's getting extracted." Owl stated while Dust went to speak up. "Dust, patch her up… She her hounds are coming with us." Owl ordered his unit.
More wolfdogs emerged as Owl turned to the animals. He wasn't leaving the herd to suffer and die in this frozen wasteland.
"Sir, she's with Foxhound." Dust put in as Owl turned to him. "She's the enemy." Dust added while Owl narrowed his eyes.
"I gave an order, soldier." Owl said before bending down to pat the wolf dog. "Wolf might be Fox Hound. But I'm not murdering someone if they can be recruited into our ranks." Owl stated while patting the dog on the head.
Owl could only chuckle as the dog licked at his hand. He probably smelt his master scent. Owl couldn't blame the dog for acting on instincts. He was trained well.
Owl liked wolves; they were loyal pack animals. They never betrayed their leader unless the leader put the pack at risk. It reminded him of Void Wing.
"I'll take care of it, sir." Dust put in as Owl nodded and turned to look across the snowfield.
"You said Dingo betrayed us?" Owl questioned, already trying to figure out a motive for his betrayal.
"He tried shooting at us and ran off." Dust stated while he bent down to start patching up Sniper Wolf.
"Then he was the one who killed Gecko…" Owl muttered, already guessing what happened.
One of their own had butchered the entire team… That meant he had always been a spy for someone. Owl didn't know who that was, but he intended to find out.
"We still have an objective to complete." Owl stated as the others nodded.
Owl readied his rifle. They had to end this.
Author notes
Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out the bond between Owl and Wolf is going to grow slowly. Owl also isn't going to fight Liquid. Next chapter will end up being in a week and will show Owl trying to break into the hanger. It will also show Dingo trying to stop them. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
