A/n: Before reading this story, please read 'Love at First Sight' as this story is sequel to that story so that you guys don't miss out on anything. Ignore my mistakes and enjoy.
It's been 4 years since the night when Madhav world's turned upside down. He lost the only person he ever loved but on the good note he was able to come out to his family. Madhav had been living his best life since then, he was openly expressing himself; now he doesn't have to cage his feelings inside his heart. Everything hadn't been rainbows and sunshine for him, his heart longed for one person. The person who changed Madhav's life, transformed him into a completely different person. His love at first sight, Prabh. There hadn't been a single day passed when Madhav didn't think about Prabh. The separation had left a scar inside his heart and time was not able to heal it.
Madhav was now 19 years old; he has recently completed his school and was aiming to join a good university next year for further education. During his final examination a devastating news came to him. Prabh's father had died due to illness. Those days were the most stressful for Madhav. He wanted to talk to Prabh, wanted to hug him and tell him that everything will be alright. But how could he? There was no way he could talk to him. Although Prabh's Father was the person who caused separation between Prabh and Madhav but still he was Prabh's Father. Madhav kept a check on Prabh through Parth, his cousin. Parth called him twice a day and told him that Prabh was fine. Madhav was sceptical, he wanted to confirm Prabh's condition himself but he couldn't.
One evening Madhav sitting in his garden reading a book when Divya came running towards him with tears in her eyes. Madhav knew at once something bad has happened.
"Bhai! Naniji." Divya sobs and she couldn't speak.
Madhav shook her. "Divya Naniji what?" Tension was clear in his voice.
"She passed away." After just saying this Divya collapsed in Madhav's arms and started crying.
Madhav was stunned, he felt cold chills running down his body. It seemed like the land was snatched below his feet.
What is happening? My Naniji, NO! it can't be true.
Madhav came back to senses, he hugged Divya. He couldn't stop his tears no matter how hard he tried. Then their mother came to them, her eyes were red too. She was crying but in front of her children she was trying to be strong. Naniji health was continuously declining due to old age, it was a matter of days until she died. But losing a dear one is not easy, no matter how much one can prepare themselves for inevitable end of their loved ones. It still hurts like hell and no medicine can heal the pain and no one can fill the void left by the death of that person.
"Madhav and Divya go and get dressed. We have to go to Naniji house for her final rites." Said Mother and the children obeyed.
The car ride was as dull as the day had become, no one was talking. There were occasional sobs of Divya and other than that dead silence. Then it hit Madhav, where he was going. He was going to the village from where he was ordered not to come back. His heart started pounding all of sudden, every memory came to his mind like water from floodgate that has been opened. He clenched his hands and tried to think about something else but all his efforts were in vain. Prabh came to his mind, how can he look at him, what will he say when they met. IF THEY MET. Parth had told Madhav about everything that had happened after them leaving the village. The talk of Madhav and Prabh spread through whole village like fire to dry wood. Madhav came to know that Prabh was made fun of and laughed at. This pained Madhav more than anything; Prabh was suffering whereas he was enjoying his best life.
No matter how hard he tried to leave everything behind, Madhav couldn't. He was never able to move forward from Prabh, deep down he didn't want to. He wanted to be with him, touch him and feel him. But it was only possible in his dreams. He always thought about what Prabh was thinking, is he thinking about him? Them? He hoped Prabh thought about him. Madhav was so engrossed in his thought that he forgot all about his Naniji and where he was going. Madhav looked outside the window and noticed familiar fields that he had seen four years ago. Nothing much was changed here and somewhat this was comforting.
When they reached the village, Madhav was shaking; he was nervous and his heart was pounding very fast. He couldn't muster up the courage to come out of the car. The village was quite the same as well, not much of a difference just the houses were repainted and still the paint was wearing off. Madhav heard a knock on his window and he saw Parth standing there. He was grown into a fine young man, he had beard too like Madhav and he was way taller than before.
"Will you come out now?" the old excitement still visible in Parth.
Madhav came out of the car and Parth suspected him from head to toe which made him awkward.
"Wow! You are all grown up and a little slimmer too." Said Parth with a grin. Madhav scoffed but inside he was happy, happy to see Parth although he couldn't show it from outside. Madhav and Parth hugged and then Madhav greeted his Mamiji and Mamaji. Other relatives were also present there for the final ceremony of Naniji along with the village residents. When Madhav entered inside the house, he could feel eyes on him which made him feel vulnerable. The village people still hadn't forgotten about him and Prabh. Looking down Madhav went to the room where his Naniji was laid.
His mother and Divya were already present there, mother had tears in eyes. No matter how old the mother be she still is your mother and loss of mother is unbearable no matter how old you are. Madhav looked at his Naniji, she was lying beautifully and it seemed she was just taking a nap. At any moment, she will wake up and ask for her medications. Madhav hoped she will open her eyes but how could she. Madhav was feeling so weak that he hugged his mother and cried. He will miss his Naniji and there is no force in nature that can bring her back.
Near about 5:30 pm all the final rites were performed. Relatives were all gone to. Madhav and his family would stay here till Naniji's Bhog that was set after ten days. The house seemed incomplete without Naniji, there were people but the house seemed empty. Madhav went up with Parth and they started catching up.
"What are your thoughts about your future?" asked Madhav.
Parth shrugged and said, "Farming." Madhav expected this answer. "You?" backfired Parth.
"I want to become a software engineer." Replied Madhav.
"Ahm." Came out of Parth, he was bored from this conversation.
"What is he doing?" Said Madhav nervously.
"He? Who?... Oh Prabh!" said Parth and Madhav shushed him because he was talking too loudly.
"Well, he hardly comes out of his house these days." Said Parth. Madhav felt very bad about it, he thought he was the reason for all this happening to Prabh. Parth noticed this.
"Its not what you think. Actually, Prabh's mother was ill for past few days. So, he was just staying home to care for his mother." Said Parth. This somewhat consoled Madhav but still he felt very bad for him. After passing away of his father all the responsibilities were put on Prabh's shoulders at a very young age. Madhav couldn't even imagine putting himself in Prabh's position.
"Cheer up Madhav and let's go outside." Said Parth. Madhav was in no mood of going outside where he could feel judging eyes of everyone on him. But in front of Parth, he couldn't say no.
They went outside and Parth took him to the same old Government school where he met Prabh. At the very first glance at him, Madhav fell in love. All the memories both good and bad were back. He could see himself standing under the tree, when Prabh came. He was so mesmerised by his presence at that time that he forgot everything. Prabh made him like the village. Madhav almost had tears in his eyes, he was longing to hear Prabh's voice. He wanted to kiss him, be in his arms and catch up. But the most painful thing was that it was all just a fairy tale, in this lifetime Prabh and Madhav can never be together.
Madhav went to sit under the same old tree. He thought how will he face Prabh if he met him now? His became nervous just thinking about it. He also thought that Prabh probably hated him for making his life miserable. To some extend it was true too, he was the reason Prabh was in this mess. Then, he heard footsteps coming towards them, Madhav didn't even try to look at the person because he thought that the person was some kid who came to judge him. The footsteps stopped and there was dead silence.
"Hi." Came Parth's voice, he sounded awkward and fumbled. The other person didn't reply. Madhav slowly gazed up and what he saw shocked him, he froze and couldn't move. It was Prabh, Madhav blinked many times to confirm what he was actually seeing. Prabh was also looking at him, he was little taller and as handsome as ever. But something was not right, his eyes; they were dead and dull unlike before fierce and bold. Madhav couldn't speak nor did Prabh. They just stared at each other. Madhav was feeling thousand emotions at same time. The silence was broken by Parth.
"I am so sorry guys; it was my plan to make you guys meet." Said Parth. Madhav and Prabh both looked at him and he flinched and backed up.
To be continued.
