1984 January Pallet town – Professor Oaks Laboratory

"But why does she look like that? Are Ralts not supposed to be green, white, and red?" asked a confused young boy with spiky black hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin.

The boy was wearing a blue vest, blue jeans, green gloves, and a red official limited edition Pokemon League Expo hat. This was none other than Ash Ketchum, son of Delia Ketchum, and future Pokemon master aspirant.

It was a somewhat cold January morning, the sun was yet to rise into the sky, and a misty fog was hanging over the town of Pallet. The towns city lamps were on full power, yet it barely did anything to penetrate the haze of the fog.

The rain was pouring outside and seemed almost mist-like as it came down in sheets. Any unfortunate enough to be outside would have a hard time navigating anywhere.

It was upon this gloomy day that the local Pallet Town School was visiting Professor Oaks laboratory as they would be able to see many Pokemon up on close. As such the Professor thought it would be a good idea to show a rare coloration of Pokemon to let the kids know about the diversity within species of Pokemon.

The class were all sitting around in a semicircle with Professor Oak and William standing in the middle. William was holding Aurora high up in his arms to let everyone in the class see her.

"You idiot have you never heard of a Shiny Pokemon? Come on Ashy boy even a dead-last like you know what a shiny Pokemon is right?." said another familiar voice. This one belonging to a kid with brown spiky hair that carried a reddish hue that in certain lights would make it seem red rather than brown.

The young boy was wearing a long purple sweater, blue jeans, and a green and yellow ying-yang necklace. This was of course Gary Oak, the nephew of Professor Oak, who also lived in the laboratory after his parents died when he was quite young.

Gary also had a sister Daisy Oak, however, she was busy defending her title as champion Pokemon Coordinator of Kanto and was therefore rarely in Pallet.

Ash in response to his arch-nemesis taunt rose up from his seat and looked prepared to launch into a tirade. He probably would have done just that if it were not for the timely intervention of the Professor.

"While I would not have said it like that Gary, you are quite right this Ralts carry the Shine Pokemon mutation. Perhaps next time simply answer the question instead of name-calling like a rambunctious child? Hmm?"

Gary seemed properly abashed and looked away seemingly too proud to admit he had done anything wrong. Gary hated being called a child as he saw himself too mature to be seen as one. In Gary's mind, however, Ash was an immature idiot. Easy as that.

Ash simply sat down after the Professors dressing down and glared spikes at the Professors nephew. Professor Oak noticing the bleak mood in the aftermath of the row pushed to continue the presentation at hand.

"Yes, where was I. Oh right, a shiny Pokemon is a Pokemon with a non-replicable genetic mutation that changes the Pokemons coloration. This of course does not change the Pokemons battle prowess, but because of its rarity scientist and collectors are quite interested in it."

The Professor picked up a Pokedex from his pocket and showed it to the class before continuing his lecture

"Perhaps William this would be a good time to tell us something about your Pokemon, I will of course help if you miss anything important. Also, as many of your fellow students here hopefully will become trainers we will use the latest version of the Pokedex to scan your Ralts so that everyone will know what to prepare for on their own Journeys."

"Yes Professor" William said "That is if it is alright with you Aurora?"

The little Ralts having heard the question began to nod and sang Ralts quite cutely in consent, which elicited a slight smile from the blonde.

William grabbed the device that resembled a cross between a phone and a Gameboy. The Pokedex had several buttons decorating it and looked like it could be opened like a flip-phone. In the devices left upper corner there looked to be a small light bulb.

William moved to scan the Pokemon that was still sitting quite contently in his arms and did not have to wait long for a response.

A loud ping could be heard and the light bulb started glowing blue indicating the Pokedex had already completed its scan of the Pokemon. Without a pause a robotic voice could be heard

"Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon. Ralts is the pre-evolved form of Kirlia. Ralts is a Psychic-type Pokemon. It can use the horns on its head to read human emotions. Ralts rarely shows itself to humans but may occasionally approach when it senses positive or happy feelings."

Hearing the ending William again broad the focus of the class back to him

"That was the Pokedex species entry, if you want to know more about the specific Pokemon that was scanned you can ask Dexter, that is the Pokedex, to give more information about the Pokemon. Like so, Dexter give information about this individual Pokemon."

Another loud ping was heard and the bulb started glowing blue once again.

"This Ralts has unusual coloration, which may be indicative of the shiny gene mutation. It is female and has a timid nature. The Pokemon knows the moves Growl, Unknown Entry?, Double Team, Confusion, and Teleport."

Huh that was odd, Unknown Entry? What does that mean, thought William.

Looking at the Professor he could see that he was also deep in contemplation about this development. The only one who seemed unbothered was Aurora, who was still cuddled up next to William making quite content noises.

"Perhaps William you could fill us in on anything that was missing from the Pokedex entry." Said the Professor "I am aware of the inconsistency; we shall discuss that later."

Taking it in stride William simply nodded and continued with the lecture

"As was mentioned from the Pokedex, Ralts can use her horns to sense and read the emotions of people and Pokemon. Warm feelings will make the Pokemon feel warm as well, that is why it usually seeks out trainers with cheerful disposition. Ralts rarely show themselves to humans even though they inhabit urban areas quite commonly. It has two evolutions Kirlia and Gardevoir, both of which are Psychic Pokemon."

William paused his lecture to make sure everyone was following along and was trying to keep the information quite basic as not all his classmates were as far ahead in Pokemon knowledge as he.

William looked to the Professor in the gesture as to ask, 'did I miss anything?' and got a shake of his head in negative.

"Are there any questions?" he asked

The kids were filled with questions it seemed and William with the help of the Professor had to answer for nearly an hour before the Professor finally said

"Alright final question, we are nearing the ending of the lecture for today."

Ash Ketchum instantly stood up among his classmates and cheerfully asked

"Does the Pokedex do anything else than give Pokemon information?"

The Professor moved to respond, but was interrupted by his nephew

"Arceus save us! Did you not listen when that question was asked earlier?" sneered Gary Oak "If you continue being this slow Ashy-boy you wont ever keep up with the rest of us."

Hearing this Ash's face turned red with anger, the normally cheerful boy was always easily irked when it came to the issue of Gary Oak. Their rivalry was famously known throughout the class as they always seemed to try one-upping each other. Even though it seemed Ash always lost, the boy never lost heart and still remained ever focused on his own dream.

"Shut up Gary! No one asked you, you smelly Muk!" was the mature response from Ash.

The sneer was joined by a heated glare that indicated Gary was getting more angry than annoyed at Ash.

"You wanna go Ashy-boy?" said Gary

The Professor tried to step in to quiet down the two kids having a row before any physical altercation could happen, but was seemingly failing as the kids began to shove each other around.

Aurora sensing the negative and angry emotions filling the room became more and more distressed in Williams arms. In response to this her trainer tried to calm her down by petting her and in a calming voice attempted to make her more relaxed.

This was all in vain, however, and the emotions in the room reached an apex when Ash threw the first punch against Gary. The little Pokemon did the only thing it knew to stop the fighting, it used its powers.

William could feel the change that occurred within Ralts, it was almost as if another energy than usual was filling the little Pokemon. He would seemingly be correct as only a moment afterwards did a pinkish-purple energy surround Aurora and in a high-pitched voice she shouted

"Raaaaaaaaaaaalts!"

The effect was instantaneous, a wave of the same pinkish energy followed by what looked like floating hearts flew towards the two quarreling boys, knocking them out in an instant.

The Professor moved to catch the boys before they hit the ground, shook his head in disappointment, and said simply

"Oh dear, that was a more dramatic way to end the lecture than I had planned."

Later that day in Professor Oak's Laboratory

"Professor I was hoping to talk to you about what happened with Aurora earlier today."

The Professor was seated behind his desk in the office that was part of the main building of his house. There was no light coming through the windows as the sun had long past set for the day.

William had entered the office with his unofficial starter Pokemon in his arms. The young Psychic had contemplated for most of the day about the strange energy that seemed to come from Aurora ever after the event earlier that day.

It was unlike her Psychic energy, as it gave the feeling not unlike joy and innocence. Compared to the Psychic energy that resembled more a feeling of cool and intellect.

"Ahh yes, William, do come in my boy. I was hoping to ask a colleague of mine before talking to you, but I do believe I can give you my suspicions." The Professor gestured for William to take a seat by the desk.

William complied while setting Ralts down on the floor. The timid Pokemon instantly began to climb the legs of her trainer to simply sit in his lap.

"Yes Professor, I was hoping to ask you about what happened in the lab. Right before Aurora fired off that strange pinkish attack, I sensed her gathering a different type of energy than her usual Psychic one. Also, I do not believe I have ever seen or heard of such an attack, was it possibly the same attack that the Pokedex showed as Unknown Error?" William said quite fast as he became progressively more excited as he voiced his thoughts.

For while William knew the Pokedex moveset was not perfect and could occasionally error as new moves were found every day.

That being said, it was quite rare that the Pokedex could not even classify a move with a typing and the device would normally not say 'Unknown Error', but rather would say 'new move detected'.

That combined with this strange energy he sensed from Aurora…. William simply knew something exciting and new was happening.

"You sensed this energy within Aurora? With your Psychic abilities I assume?" Said the Professor, in which William instantly began to nod in ascent.

The Professor continued in a calm voice "What I believe you sensed is a new typing of Pokemon William, one that has not been announced yet, but is already being studied in Kalos by Professor Sycamore. It is his theory that there is a typing not yet discovered and documented. He believes this as he found many Dragon type Pokemon shy away from certain other Pokemon who all were able to manipulate Pinkish-Purplish attacks or energies, similar to what your Ralts unleased earlier."

William listened raptly to the Professors tale. The more he heard, the more his excitement began to show and he started to fidget in place. A new typing and Aurora might have that duel-typing! How exciting was that! Having a Pokemon strong against Dragon types would also for sure prove invaluable against Lance in the future. But did the typing have a name yet? Also, what was its weaknesses and strengths he wondered.

"What is the name of the typing Professor? Also do you know anything about its place in the type-chart?" asked William

The Professor paused slightly contemplating if he was allowed to tell his young student. It was after all ongoing research.

Deciding to answer some of the question the Professor responded

"Fairy type is the name Professor Sycamore has called it in his messages to me. William it is important you do not mention this to anyone yet. It is still ongoing research after all."

William agreed seriously knowing how significantly disrupted research could become if the wrong people were given the information before-hand.

The Professor seeing the earnest and serious attitude from his pupil continued

"I am very interested that you were able to sense this typing energy within Aurora. A typing I might add that you did not even know existed. I will, therefore, write to Professor Sycamore first thing about the possibility of you entering research with him as well. I am quite confident that your abilities will be invaluable in proving his theories. But I will tell you more about the specifics once I have talked to Professor Sycamore. For now, I think it is time for you to go to sleep."

Almost like a spell did William begin to feel tired, and he yawned quite loudly, which was followed by Aurora mimicking him. Smiling tiredly at his Pokemon he said his goodnights to the Professor and went to bed in his room. Aurora sleeping contently on top of his head to protect her trainer from bad dreams.

-Scene Break-

The gardens surrounding Professor Oaks lab early May 1 month before journey starts

The weather was pleasantly warm and the sun was out. School had ended early since it was a Friday. Professor Oak had online meetings all day with the other Professors of the different regions, leaving William to have the day off from work.

As such he had used his first time off in a while to play with Ash and Gary, who while vastly different personality wise, William still considered to be his friends. This of course was only William's opinion, as the other two boys still very much hated each other.

This left William to do a lot of mediating between his two friends as they would often end up budding heads when left together. One such moment was now. The three boys had gotten together to play on their Pokemon battle simulators. Their journey would after all begin soon and they wanted to be ready!

"No Ash you cannot use electric type moves against ground Pokemon, they are immune! Seriously do you never pay attention in school? On second thought do you pay attention ever?" came the exasperated voice of Gary Oak.

Ash lifted his eyes from the Gameboy in his hand and looked at his nemesis with a slight frown on his face. He made to reply with a firm, but annoyed tone to his voice

"Why not? It does not make any sense why electricity would not affect ground types! I bet I could train an Electric type Pokemon to be super effective against ground."

William sensing the upcoming argument both from his friend's emotions, but also just from knowing the two.

He therefore quickly tried to explain to Ash why Ground types are nearly all immune to Electric attacks, without sounding condescending that was, as Ash did tend to get very easily offended when others thought him stupid.

"Actually Ash, Gary is correct Ground types are immune to Electric type attacks."

Seeing Ash's face sour instantly upon hearing Gary was right about anything, William quickly made to continue,

"Imagine this, have you ever seen the lightning rods that are in public buildings such as the cinema, police stations or Pokemon centers?"

Upon which William saw Ash quietly nod his head in understanding and continued,

"Well the principle is actually very similar to that. If you shock the ground it has very little to no visible effect on the earth. That is why Lightning rods are placed on roofs to guide and channel the electricity into the underground where no one gets hurt. The electricity is therefore grounded. Hence Ground is immune to Electric attacks. Or at least that is what the textbook said."

Ash got a thoughtful frown upon his face, but before he could voice his thoughts Gary Oak voiced his,

"Is that why Water types are weak to Electric types? Because water conducts electricity?" who after seeing William was nodding in confirmation continued with his next question,

"But then why are Flying types weak to Electric type attacks?"

William looked thoughtful for a moment and gathered his thought before he answered,

"Well flying types are usually birds, I believe the logic is that since birds are usually in high altitude, they are more likely to be hit by lightning, which is an electric attack. Of course, that is a guess, my sister used to say every typing is based on their energies within the body and that is how the type-chart was created."

Both Ash and Gary seemed to be lost when William mentioned energies within the body and both asked the same question at the same time

"Energies?"

Which upon hearing they said the same thing, the rivals glared at each other with the same thought 'I said that first'.

Rolling his eyes at his friends' antics William answered the question

"Yes energies. The theory is that every typing attack is made of energy that resembles that type. Thus, some energies interact with each other while others do not. Ghost type energies for example cannot interact with Normal type energies. While Fire type energies harshly interacts with Grass type energies."

The two boys did not feel like that explanation really explained anything, but William continued

"These energies are within the body of both humans and Pokemon. However, some Pokemon have a lot of one or two types of energy. These Pokemon are therefore classified into those types. I know it sounds confusing, but as I said it is only a theory."

A voice from behind the boys broke into their conversation, startling the boys "Yes I believe the theory is referred to as the 'Vital Principle' and was put forth quite a while ago by monks living in modern day Rota."

Turning around as a unit, all three boys looked to see Professor Oak was standing with a document in his hands. The man looked no worse for wear after sitting in meeting for several hours, if anything he actually looked quite excited.

"Sorry about startling you three." The Professor began and gave a short chuckle as the boys instantly began to deny being scared. Taking pity on the kids Professor Oak continued.

"I came out here as I just finished my meeting with Professor Birch and Professor Sycamore and I have exciting news for a certain hopeful Pokemon researcher here."

William instantly perked up at those names as he knew Professor Sycamore was involved with Professor Oak to get William's research license officiated. As such William was very curious what they had talked about and asked as such.

The Professor now beginning to look even more excited carried on,

"Or not so hopeful anymore, as it finally happened. Congratulation William, when you begin your journey next month it will also be as an official field researcher. You will of course get quite the leeway in what you choose to research, however, Professor Sycamore was very interested in the event regarding Aurora. So, any other Pokemon you discover on your way that may be similar would be a huge boon to his own research."

William flew up from the ground and began to yuuuubii and dance around. This of course made the other two boys just as excited and began to congratulate their friend upon his success.

The Professor let the boy be happy and enjoy the moment for a little while, before turning serious once again

"Yes, of course you are also working under me William so your work will also have to focus on Pokemon-Human relations. Your work in both studies wont be anything major. Simple observations, notes, or even theories based on what you discover in the field are all we ask. Now as you know, as a field researcher you represent both Professor Sycamore and I, as such we expect you to behave yourself on your journey."

Settling down William nodded while still gracing a huge smile upon his face. The boy was close to shedding a tear in pure joy. This was one step closer to his goals after all. However, there was one thing he was still confused about

"Sir, why did you talk to Professor Birch as well? Does he not specialize in Pokemon habitats and distribution? I think we read his book on the History of Hoenn Region in class actually."

The Professor getting a mischievous glint in his eyes began to smirk smugly

"Ahh, you know of Professor Birch? Yes, you are correct he specializes with the ecosystem of Pokemon, with special focus on Pokemon from Hoenn. He won't be a sponsor in your research William. However, Professor Sycamore and I agreed upon your starter for your Pokemon journey as we know you specify with Psychic Pokemon. We, therefore, contacted Professor Birch as the Pokemon is natively from the Hoenn region."

William basically got stars in eyes and moved faster than the speed of light into Professor Oaks personal space.

"Really! What Pokemon? You said Psychic Pokemon right? What Pokemon? Hoenn hmmm there are a lot of Psychic Pokemon from there. Also, wouldn't Aurora be considered my starter? Did I ask what Pokemon it is? I am so excited"

William said all of this within a few seconds and with no breaks to breath. The Professor being used to Williams excited and cheery attitude simply grabbed the smaller boys' arms, picked him up, and moved him out of the Professors personal space.

William in return looked quite sheepish, but none the less still cheery and excited.

"Yes, your starter will be a Psychic Pokemon William. No, I will not tell you what Pokemon it is before you start your journey. Aurora will not be considered your starter officially as while you caught her first, you did catch her. Hence, she cannot be your starter as it was not provided for you. It is simply semantics, the regulations set forth by the League say starter Pokemon has to be provided to trainers, not caught."

Upon hearing this, William instantly dropped to the ground, his eyes took on a pleading expression and in an overly exaggerated motion and with no shame he began to beg the Professor for more information regarding his Pokemon

"Please sir! Can you not you tell me now? Please! Have I not been a good aid in the laboratory? Have William not been good, did he not serve well? Did he not bring coffee? Did he not cook dinner nearly every day?"

Ash and Gary upon seeing their friends' antics began to chuckle as they struggled to keep their laughter hidden, but were terribly as the sight was quite amusing. William really could be so immature when he wanted to be.

Professor Oak, however, being used to William at this point simply rolled his eyes and said

"William get up and quit being an idiot. You will know next month and that is that. Now if you continue you will have to cook dinner for every day until you leave."

With that said the Professor turned around and made for the Oak house.

William could not believe what he had just heard. His face took on an incredulous expression and not a moment later did he run after the Professor while shouting

"I cook every day anyway! None of you in the house can cook!"

Ash and Gary could not stop themselves anymore and began to laugh quite openly. Ash had to cross his arms over his stomach to stop it from cramping as he laughed so much. Resulting in him falling to the ground.

Gary was a bit more composed, as while he was laughing in honest, he at least did not fall to the ground.

Yes, thought the Professor, it would be quite inconvenient when William began his journey, as he truly was the only one who could cook in the house.

Hmm well maybe he could visit Delia Ketchum more often after Gary, Ash, and William would be out and about. They were after all both widowed…..

Pallet Town, The Oak Residence, a summer day in June

The sun was shining bright through the window of the smallest bedroom in the Oak household. Laying on a bed was a mess of disheveled shoulder-long platinum blonde hair belonging to none other than William Spellman. It was just about to reach 7 AM and William still laid sleeping quite peacefully.

The meeting with the Professor where he and the others would get their starter was at 9 AM and as he lived in the Professors house it would take no time to get there.

'Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing-Riiiiiiiiing' it was the alarm clock ringing as the time reached 7 AM.

With a start William woke up and groggily turned off the alarm clock yet he remained in bed. He enjoyed the warmth of the sun hitting his face for the moment.

He had nothing to do today or so he thought, as it was just another Monday in June. But then it hit him what day today really was.

Opening his eyes wide he pushed himself up from his bed all feelings of exhaustion forgotten. Today was when his Pokemon Journey would finally begin.

He ran out of bed, put on his clothes, and looked through his camp bag that he had prepared the day before.

Cloth? check, notebook? check, electronic writing pad? check, phone? check, second pair of hiking shoes? check, a bit of Pokedollars left to him by Sabrina and Professor Oak check?, rope? check, tent? check, water bottle? check, sleeping bag? check, bathing cloths? check, and finally his cooking gear to make Poke Curry? check.

Smiling William noticed it was getting closer to 9 AM than he thought. As a result he had to rush to the kitchen to eat a quick bite and then walk over to the laboratory part of the Oak house.

Upon entering the large room filled with expensive equipment and various research tools William noticed he was not the first to arrive.

This became obvious as three other kids were already there and the Professor looked to be patiently waiting for everyone to arrive. As the Professor noticed William he said

"Ahh William, good, Gary was beginning to suggest that if you did not show soon, that he would be forced to go upstairs and wake you with a bucket of water. Something I of course did not encourage, in any shape or form."

William rolled his eyes knowing how much of a lie that last part was.

"Are you sure you did not reverse the roles Professor? That you suggested Gary should do it and he discouraged the idea?"

Smiling slightly with a twinkle in his eye the professor responded

"Perhaps, perhaps not. Well, we are still missing young Ash Ketchum, but as everyone else is here I am sure we can start."

Gary looked surprised Ash had passed high enough on the test to be rewarded a Pokemon from Professor Oak and if William was honest to himself… he was as well.

The Professor continued "Yes so you four all passed the requirements to get a sponsorship from me through the Pallet Town Laboratory. Congratulations on ranking in the top 1 percentile of the latest Kanto region Pokemon theoretical and practical knowledge exam provided by the League."

The Professor paused for a moment as he let the kids glow in the praise given to them.

"Moving on, three of you will select from the Kanto starters and we will go by the scores from the test, so the student with the highest score selects first. That will be you Gary, followed by Leaf, and lastly is Ember. You have between the choices of Charmander the Fire type, Bulbasaur the Grass and Poison type, and Squirtle the Water type."

Gary nodded and chose Squirtle with no hesitation. He had planned for this day for quite a while. The Professor nodded at the choice and provided Gary with the standard Pokedex. Smiling slightly, Gary asked

"What about William? You did not mention him in the line-up and I know for a fact he did perfect on the test, the same as me of course."

Nodding along to the question from his nephew the Professor responded

"Yes, William also did exceptionally well on his test. He, however, also earned a research license as you well know. It was, therefore, decided from both of his sponsors to reward this brilliance with a Pokemon that would maybe aid in his research. He will therefore be assigned his starter last."

Gary moved to stand behind William and remained there as he was curious what starter he would receive.

Leaf chose Bulbasaur and Ember chose Charmander, no surprise there. They were basically named to take those starters. They were given their standard Pokedex as well and left on their journeys.

William moved forward and the Professor got an excited air about him as he had waited a long time to give William his Pokemon.

"So William, I know you have waited patiently for a long time now. But no more. Professor Birch send over your Pokemon only yesterday to make sure you would not sneak a peak while working in the laboratory. With no further ado here it is"

The Professor handed the red standard Pokeball to William. Weird he did not mention what Pokemon it was.

Looking at the Professor to ask permission to release his starter, he received a nod in ascent, and with no further ado released his Pokemon.

In a flash of light that congregated into a grayish Pokemon that had a long cylindered body and a round circular face. A set of claws was sticking out of the end of its body and a large red eye adorned the center of its spherical head.

William recognizing the Pokemon in an instant stammered out in amazement

"That is a Beldum!"

Overflowing with glee the Professor nodded in agreement. Looking much more like a child with a new toy rather than a renowned Professor he said

"Yes! Professor Birch had to make use of quite some connections, but Professor Sycamore, Birch, and I all agreed it would be an ideal fit for you. The newly discovered Steel type is still being researched, as such this Pokemon will be part of your study William."

William basically had stars in his eyes with anticipation, but still managed to gently move closer to the Beldum. Seeing the Pokemon had its focus on William he began to introduce himself with a great tone of passion entering his voice the more he spoke

"Hey Beldum! My name is William, I am a fellow Psychic! My goal is to become the greatest Psychic Pokemon type trainer in the world and use my gifts to study and research Pokemon. I would feel honored if a glorious Pokemon like you would join me and my fellow Pokemon on my journey. I will train you to be the best that you can possible be, but as partners, I expect all my Pokemon to work with me, not for me. There is after all no I in teamwork!"

The Beldum was silent for only a moment before its red began to glow with a blueish hue.

'I shall join you trainer William."

William flinched slightly at the male sounding voice that spoke telepathically to him. The words sounded broken and were quite harsh to hear. Furthermore, it was also quite hard to understand what the Beldum had tried to say, this probably meant that the Pokemon had only recently learned to communicate telepathically.

William gave an encouraging smile and began speaking once more

"Wow there buddy, that was a little too much power I think. We will have to practice your telepathy in the future. It needs to be gentler, much gentler, us humans cannot handle as much strain as you Pokemon can. Aurora, that is my Ralts cannot yet use telepathy at all, so we can combine your teachings together. However, for now, Beldum do you wish for a nickname? Oh, also are you male? Female?"

The Beldums eye began to glow once at the word male, but not at the word female. William believed that translated into meaning it was male.

"Ahh William let me help you there" said Professor Oak before handing him his own Pokedex and 10 standard Pokeballs as he had the others. "Use this to gain information about your Beldum."

William smiled and nodded gratefully to the Professor. He turned on the Pokedex and instantly it began talking in a robotic mechanical sounding voice

"I am Dexter, a Pokedex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokemon trainer and field researcher William Spellman of Saffron City. My function is to provide William with information and advice regarding Pokemon and their training. I also Act as an ID for the trainer and can be used to make calls. If lost or stolen I cannot be replaced."

William looked surprised as the Pokedex he had used previously was never tailor made for anyone. It made him feel special to know that the Professor had programmed one specifically for him.

He scanned his Pokemon and only after a slight pause did Dexter's light bulb glow blue.

"Beldum, the Iron Ball Pokemon. Beldum is the first Pokemon in the Beldum-evolutionary line and evolves into Metang. Beldum floats by emitting magnetic waves from its body to repel the Earth's magnetic field. They launch their claws into cliffs when they sleep. Beldum are known to be of the duel typing Steel and Psychic. The gender of Beldums are as of yet unknown and need to be established."

Frowning slightly William made to ask for more in-depth information about his Pokemon but was interrupted once again by the Professor.

"You can learn more about your Pokemon on your journey William. For now, you need to pick up Aurora and get a move on if you want to reach Viridian City by evening. I already made the transfer this morning, so she is officially registered now as your Pokemon."

William smiled sheepishly and moved his hand to scratch the back of his head. He had forgotten that most trainers from Pallet rushed to Viridian to stay the night there.

William picked up Auroras Pokeball from the Professor and moved out the house with his Beldum floating with him.

He would introduce them on the road and scan both his Pokemon again to make sure he knew their natures, abilities, and attacks. He could plan their training accordingly after knowing those.

Looking up at the clear sun William smiled and took his first steps on the cobblestoned road that made the way to Viridian City. His Pokemon Journey had finally begun.

Hey once more guys! Another chapter is over and I hope you guys enjoyed it! I am honestly insanely awful at naming things so if you guys have any good ideas about the names of upcoming Pokemon please let me know in a review!

I am leaving the nature and ability of Beldum for next chapter to see if any of you guys have a preference it might influence the decision!

Aurora's special ability will also be revealed next chapter where the Pokemon journey for real starts.

As mentioned earlier this is a full Psychic team story.

If you liked the story or simply wanna follow along then I would appreciate a follow or favorite! Constructive reviews are always welcome as well! But remember some things I may have altered, remade, or down right removed from Pokemon as this is a fanfiction.
