The house of the boy and girl wasn't all that and not something to be proud of. It gave shelter and that was about it. During the summers and winters, it's either too hot or too cold which wasn't all good for children like them to be growing up.
The only advantage about them was the fact that apart from the father, everyone was able to use magic which help their situation.
Currently, the little girl was looking at her reflection on the surface of a clean pot.
"Hello, my name is Mikoto Uchiha, but… my situation caused me to be called Mikoto Snape." She was around the age of 7 and doing her chores including cleaning the house while thinking to herself, unlike most children her age should be doing. Her clothing otherwise shows the poor state of their family finance.
She was using an old scrub and some questionable soap that did little to help her clean the house. Sometimes the girl grimes her family's poor state to even maintain the house.
"*huff* Mom and Nii-san might use magic but only this way can you feel the accomplishment hehe…" After cleaning a section, the girl glances at her work which she was proud of with how little strength she had.
Normally, such a large task was not left for such a young child, especially such a thin girl but things weren't always what it seems because she volunteers on her own due to many issues in their family.
"Yep, Mikoto Snape. Hehe…. It doesn't roll off the tongue, does it?"
"Girl quit dawdling and continue cleaning!"
*!*
Out of nowhere, a glass bottle flew towards the preoccupied little girl.
The world and its people have their specialties. Muggles and wizards live in this current world with their strengths and weakness as well as some rather unique traits. But things were a little different for this particular girl, she was the exception.
*grab*
Without even turning toward the direction where the bottle came from, the girl caught it with one movement of her single hand before putting it safely down on the floor.
"Yes, father." Her eyes showed a red color with black, comma-like patterns before she blinks once for them to turn back to normal as fast as they came.
"…"
"…."
Her father was surprised at her actions as he deliberately tried to smash the bottle at her. The moment she turned to him with a normal expression as usual as if his action wasn't something she consider to be important freaked him out.
Her demeanor, her presence, her everything pissed him off.
The man stomps toward the girl. He knew she was like his wife and son. A person with magic and it won't be a problem for him to hit her, though these thoughts were his drunk thoughts.
*!* The man stretched out his arm quickly towards her. But his hand never caught her. She took one single step to the side and evaded his hand as if she knew what he was about to do.
"Father?" Her usual expression again, and up close as she never steps back in fear of his action. It was clear from day one she was not afraid of him.
He wasn't stopping with just one action. He was pissed at her as he quickly started to grab the girl with multiple hand grabs but as expected they were all evaded by the girl who calmly made small body movements.
*huff*
*huff*
The man was not physically fit but against a child, he was still supposed to be better in terms of stamina.
"Father, I think you should stop." The little girl was worried for the man since he was very far from a healthy man in her eyes.
"Don't order me around in my own house, witch!"
The man didn't listen and made for a lunge this time. It was unbecoming of a full-grown man to lunge at a little girl but he knew she was far beyond a normal human being.
Mikoto pities the man as he ran at her. She had seen him struggle to try to stay sane, especially with her mother who wasn't making anything better with all the secrets that she kept from him and the consequences they carried.
"…" With the drunk man about to lunge at her from such a close distance, she had about one second to react. But this was not a problem, she blinks once and once more held an overwhelming advantage to easily won this little bout by simply adjusting her body to react in time in the most minimal movement.
*!*
The man was used against his strength and crashed into the kitchen where he ended up falling unconscious.
The little girl signs at her father and also the new mess she now needed to clean, pulling up her sleeves, and once more the girl started cleaning while ignoring the unconscious man. It was morning, her mother and brother were off to the market so she planned to clean everything up before they came back.
"Urgh…" Moaning in pain, the man finally woke up from his short unconscious state. He felt sore all over his body but had no injuries. He remembered what happened as he finds himself back in his chair and now facing the little girl sitting across from him on the couch with a cup of tea in her hand.
Looking at the girl calmly seeping on the tea made it seem like she was just any other little girl with her feet not even reaching the floor from her seat made it more obvious. The man knew the moment she was brought to the house, she was not what she seemed to be and when she started to read the newspaper made his sweat dropped.
"Here."
"…" Too tired to even speak anything on his mind, the man accepted the tea from the little girl.
"…" Strangely, the aroma of the tea was much better than the ones his wife made for him. He kept staring at the teacup in his hand.
"I didn't put anything weird in it, father."
The girl who was reading the paper answered when she didn't hear the man sipping on the tea.
"Don't call me that."
"I'm sorry?" The girl tilts her head, not understanding the sudden man's word.
"I've told you time and time again, I am not your father." The man didn't bother looking at her like the many times he usually acted around her as he just drink his tea.
"I know." The girl answers back with her nonsensical tone as she already knew that the man was not her biological father.
She might share the same mother with his son but not him. Others would also point it out since both parents weren't at all handsome or pretty to birth a girl like her who was no doubt going to be very beautiful when she grew up.
"I see… then." The man always gets the same answer for everything he said those words to her. But this time he had expected something a little more words from her.
"Father, you might not have given birth to me. But…" The girl then gets up from the couch and turns toward the door, "…you did your best working hard for the roof we're living under. I think that's enough reason enough for me."
"…"
Yes, the man had issues and with the love between him and his wife fleeting through the years, the words said by the girl were sinking him when it was true. He might get drunk at times but he never skipped working for the people living in this house. It was his responsibility after all and the strangely wise girl got him one there.
"Argh!"
The painful cry of a kid could hear around the corner of some field near a town. A young boy was being picked on by a bunch of kids his age and they were mocking him as they bullied him.
"Nii-san!"
A little girl who was younger than the bunch of boys cried and rushed to the down boy who was trying to get up while glaring at the other boys with intense anger.
The situation escalated to such a point when said boy and girl were heading toward the other side of town where a carnival was being held with lots of entertainment and many intrusting events were happening. The boy wasn't enthusiastic about said carnival saying this like 'Muggles would do anything to chur their boring life' but since the girl his little sister wanted to go, he decided to head there too for her sake.
Unfortunately, they were blocked in their path by a couple of kids their age who weren't keen on seeing them who were part of the more run part of the town. Yes, there was discrimination between dirt-poor kids and the more well-off kids.
"Get back to your side of the town, I hate seeing rags walking around in my town!" One of the bullies spoke out with a smirk as he felt really good to call out to them with such a tone he learned from his parents.
"These Muggles…" The boy, Severus was now really angry and decided to even use his magical abilities which weren't all that much but held a firm belief he was only holding back after hearing from his mother to hide those powers which might get him into trouble with the ministry of magic.
"Nii-san, maybe we should go back. I don't want to get you into trouble because of me." The girl, his little sister plead to him seeing the bruise on his cheek that the bullies did on him. She didn't want things to escalate into something worse than the bruise on his cheek.
"Don't worry, we're going to the carnival. I'll show them wh-!?" Before Severus could step forward to confront the kids with the little magic he could manifest, he was stopped by his little sister who held a firm grip on his arm by hugging it tightly to stop him.
"You can't!" The girl shouted.
"…" Usually, Severus Snape was a rather vengeful kid as he hated people especially muggles who think they were better than him and now his sister. He would do everything a way to get back at them, but then he now had a sister who could get warp into his scuffles and might even get hurt. He didn't want that.
"…."
"Fine…" The boy struggles but calms down his intention as he felt his sister tighten her embrace on him.
"Let's just go home."
The girl sighs, relieved that her brother wasn't going to act rashly and get himself in trouble. She believes he could take them but she knew it was only because him having manifested his powers.
The girl and boy turned around to head back to the other side of town while the bunch of bullies laugh at and called out names.
"…" The little girl glance back but turn back and held her brother's hand tight to show she was fine. Honestly, she could beat them up without using any magical powers she can.
She was Mikoto Uchiha, the wife of a powerful clan head in her previous life and not to mention she was an active shinobi before she settled down. If this had gone a bad turn, she would've easily overpowered them without much effort as still trained like how a shinobi was trained as kids.
She promised herself that in this life, she would protect her family with her dying breath.
Her grip tightened on her brother's hand. Her brother might think she was scared but she was reminding herself to not make the same mistake and resolve to be more than a simple little girl.
*!*
She sensed it, the same feeling when her father had thrown a glass bottle at her a few days ago. Her eyes once again showed a different red shade and pattern, ready to once again evade another flying projectile aimed at her and her brother.
*!*
Fortunately, for the little girl, the rock that was aimed at her was caught by another girl. A girl that seems to be the same age as the little girl's brother.
"I can't believe you are still at this. Timmy Woodoak."
A girl with a pair of lush light jade eyes glares at the leader of the bunch of bullies with anger. She saw what was happening from afar and quickly rush over with her older sister. She might have used her magical powers to slow down the rock that was thrown before she quickly caught it and now stood with her back toward the little girl and her brother. Thankfully no one saw her little trick apart from the siblings that she was standing up.
"Evans! Don't go butting your head on other's business. Unless you want us to ruin that pretty hair of yours." The boy who was older than anyone currently around smirked at them seeing his side could win if they were fighting, he didn't care if they were girls.
"Why should I? I won't let you do what you like. Especially after what you did to my sister." The girl glared at the older kid while standing firm and not hesitant in her words.
"You little-!?"
The older kid Tim was one of those kids in town that others the same age as him or younger would not mess with. But right now, there was someone who irritated him and it was a girl that even dares to glare back.
"Lily, Petunia, where are you two?"
"!?" Upon hearing a couple of adults coming to their exact position the bullies were hesitant before one by one running off. Not wanting an adult to them off to their parents. Especially, the leader of the bullies who had a couple of strict parents himself.
"Lily! Why did you do that?!" Petunia was hiding from afar finally came out and shout worried at her little sister who was again doing something unnecessary in her eyes.
"…" The parents who came too were confused at first before learning the situation and started to lecture their children but not too harshly.
"Nii-san, you're staring."
"Ah! Sorry…."
"What's wrong? Shouldn't we go and thank them?"
"Mikoto did you see what she just did?"
"Yes, yes, I did. But shouldn't we…"
The two siblings were still there and now watching the family with whatever they were doing. Mikoto wanted to say something but her older brother Severus wanted to do something else.
"Um… Excuse me." Mikoto decided to come up to them while pulling her hesitant older brother to say how grateful they were to the couple's daughter for standing up to them.
After another explanation, the adults were quite happy at what their daughter did for them and said to the two they should also be wary of kids like the bullies from earlier as if this was normal for kids.
"Dad, mom psst!" Lily quietly calls for her parents to lend her their ears. She whispered something into their ears and after debating to themselves, the adults then asked Mikoto and Severus if they would like to join them on their way to the carnival.
"Would the two of you like to come with us? I promise to tell your parents so that you won't get in trouble."
"We'd love to!" Before Severus could decline, his little sister quickly answers in excitement. Seeing his sister's expression, the boy went along with her.
So, it was decided that the two would follow them and enjoy the carnival with them. Only Severus and Petunia felt uncomfortable as they all continued heading toward the carnival.
"Um… are you sure this is necessary?" Mikoto was now holding hands with the red hair older girl. She also felt that she was being held surprisingly close.
"Yes, I never had a little sister before. So, it's ABSOLUTELY necessary to hold hands. There's no telling what could happen again, so you need to stick close to me." The girl had a satisfying expression as she held the little girl who was younger than her along the way.
"Little sister?"
"Yes, little sister."
Mikoto wonder if it was a good idea now that the older girl who acting strange around her.
"I never had a little sister before; I have a great older sister, but I've always wondered what it would feel like protecting your own little sister from bad people, combing her soft lock of dark hair, and even playing dress up every day."
Mikoto lean back and could only sweat dropped as she see the red hair older girl's desires oozing out of her.
"So, can you tell me your name?"
"Oh, It's Mikoto Snape and my Nii-san here is Severus Snape."
Lily smiles and introduced herself along with her sister who was still wary of the two. Severus upon getting her recognition felt a little hot on his head and nods confirming what his little sister said was true.
Lily was a very curious girl and when she heard the foreign word she had never of. She asked and Mikoto happy rely on that that meant the word 'Nii-san' meant 'Older brother'. Her parents also had meetings with foreigners and were surprised but realized they had one before who used the exact one before.
"Could you say that again?"
"Lily-nee."
"Once more, please?"
"Lily-nee?"
"O-One more time!"
"L-Lily-nee!"
Lily had asked her to call her older sister too in the same way she did to her brother and upon hearing her version of the name. The girl was feeling her heart thump in euphoria because for Lily, the moment her eyes had landed on the little dark hair girl she felt as if she was talking to a life-size adorable doll that she could now call her little sister, not officially of course.
"Lily, your nose!" Petunia who also holding onto Lily's hand saw the small amount of blood coming out of her nose and quickly used her handkerchief to clean it. The red-haired girl was getting a nosebleed from the cute tone and words coming out of Mikoto's mouth.
"…" Severus who was still quiet all this time, watching the interaction between the new people he and his sister just met. The red hair girl piqued his interest but the way they were interacting with his little sister made him feel a little left out and wondered if he was doing things right.
"huh?"
"Nii-san, don't let go, okay."
Severus felt his sister pulling his hand and dragging him with her to the carnival that was easily in sight. His gloomy thoughts from earlier were now back to reality where his little sister was the bright light that comfort him.
The Evans couple saw how cute their children were now holding hands with new friends making them 'aw' at the scene. Mikoto and Lily are in the middle while Severus and Petunia holding from the sides.
…
"Huh? What am I doing here?" Timmy Woodoak, the very same kid who bullies almost every kid in town found himself in the very same place where he met the Snape siblings.
"Isn't this…" He also figured out right away where he was after some seconds of thought to himself.
His current position was strange to him. He was supposed to be in bed after all he clearly remembered just finishing dinner and it was also supposed to be night.
"…" There was a weird feeling in the air too. It was too quiet, especially with how bright the day was going.
"I don't like this." He was still a child and was easily scared at the current situation his common sense couldn't comprehend.
"Hello." A female child's voice came from behind, and the boy quickly turned with a surprised expression, frighten.
"You." After seeing a familiar face, the boy's fear and nervousness about his situation turned to anger. It was the Snape girl from earlier today and again she looks at him without a hint of fear or any kind of emotion the kids in town looked at him and this made him annoyed.
"Where is everyone? You know something, don't you!? Tell me!" The boy strode in anger towards the silent girl who still wore the same blank expression looking at him.
*grab* Hearing no answer, the boy grabbed the hem of her blouse and pull her up as she was very light even for a kid like him.
"You street rat, you and you ugly brother did something didn't you?!" The boy quickly jumps to a conclusion and made stupid remarks that was not even remotely true.
"Children…" The girl now placed her hand tightly on the arm that was pulling her up from the ground with strength that made him wince.
*!*
"Should be playing nicely with others." Somehow, the girl had enough strength to throw the taller and stronger-looking boy with ease without a hint of struggle on her expression.
Mikoto always remember who she was, a girl that had grown up in the Elemental Nation. A girl that turned into a woman, surviving the harsh training of her clan to live another day. A girl that stood beside the head of a powerful clan. And lastly, a girl that became the mother of two immensely powerful shinobis that impacted the Elemental Nation and its last war.
"…" She had lost in her thought as she look away for a few seconds only to find the boy running off towards the direction he felt he was safe. Anywhere the girl would not be able to find him.
"…" Something was strange, as he kept on running. He couldn't find anyone around. It was as if the weird feeling from before told him he was alone in the town with the little girl.
"We're the only ones in town."
"!" He could hear her, even though she was not in his sight.
"You can't hide either too."
"!" He reached his destination, his house. Most children would rush home when they experience bad things; this boy was no exception.
"Mom, Dad!" The child cried, searching every nook and cranny of his house. Yet, his house was dead silent and he could only hear his heartbeat in a panic.
"I told you, we're the only ones in town."
Yet again, she was standing behind, freaking him out as he stumbled backward to fall on the floor in fear.
"Hii!" After experience hands down the strength of the little girl, not to mention the strange situation he was in. The stronger and taller boy who had fallen on the ground shrieked in fear, especially the calm scary expression she was giving him.
A glare he will never forget, as her eyes change into dark red with two black Tomoe spinning inside her eyes. He would've screamed monster by now, but he was struck with fear.
"D-Don't hurt me." The boy in fear spoke out, still too afraid to do anything but stare. The situation didn't help since he was alone with the girl.
"…" The girl's eyes still staring down at the boy with intense pressure as ever, spins slowly to show the unrealistic manner of such eyes.
"No." She smile and quickly everything around them started to turn dark and both suddenly started falling into nothingness as there was no sight of the ground or anything. They just kept on falling.
"!" Timmy Woodoak suddenly woke up from a hellish nightmare screaming so loud, it woke up his parents who came in rushing to find their son screaming and crying in fear.
After said parents were able to calm their son down, explaining that it was just a nightmare. The now calm child still remembered the sentence of words before he woke up.
This is a warning, don't ever think of bothering us again, that includes the Evans. Or otherwise, I'll come back every night.
He kept telling himself 'I won't' until he falls asleep in his parent's bed.
Outside the house and sitting on a tree branch was a little girl with a pair of eyes that should not exist in this world. The Sharingan, eyes that can cause great chaos.
"Now, then. Where is the next target's house?"
The next day a few numbers of kids had the same nightmare and coincidently they were all the kids that tried to mess with the Snape siblings. Their parents could only wonder as all these kids apologize to them and admit their wrongdoings as they all swear to be good from now on.
While on the other side of town, two children. A boy and his little sister were currently eating their breakfast happily without many worries in their life, especially the little girl.
And done….
