"Okay Miss Grace," Danny said as he opened the fridge and scanned the contents inside as he held his seven month old niece in his other arm. "Let's see what you can feed you sweetheart."

It wasn't a surprise when Danny Reagan offered to babysit his baby niece while her parents were off finishing a few last minute details for Grace's christening the next day. The older Reagan's tough exterior had definitely softened over the years and now completely turned to mush anytime Grace was around. He just adored the little girl and was delighted to become her godfather.

"Squash and banana?" Danny said to himself as he picked up one of the many labeled containers of baby food. He turned to Grace. "You actually eat this stuff?"

Grace gave him a confused stare.

"When those teeth grow in, Uncle Danny is going to take you to get the best burger and fries in the city," he promised. "It's way better than this. But for now, this will have to do."

He took out small container and shut the refrigerator door. He grabbed one of the many colorful baby spoons out of the cabinet then walked over and placed Grace in her high chair. The little girl let out an excited squeal, knowing that she was about to get fed. Grace was quite an advanced child for her age, already able to grab the spoon and would attempt to feed herself. As expected, it didn't make it to her mouth every time but it amused her family to no end to watch her try.

Danny dipped the spoon into the mash and handed it over to Grace. "Here you go, honey," he said. "Give that a try."

Grace grabbed the spoon and eyed it for a minute before shoving it to the side of her mouth, getting most of the mash onto her cheek.

Danny chuckled. He took the spoon away from her and scrapped the mash off of her cheek and put it into her mouth. "Nice try, munchkin. Clearly we haven't gotten the hang of this yet. Don't worry, your cousin Sean hasn't either."

He dipped the spoon into the mash again and handed it over to her. She took it with ease and again tried to maneuver the food into her mouth. He gave a small smile. It was times like this with Grace that made him miss these days with his boys and Linda.

"Your aunt Linda would've just loved you," he said with a wavering sigh as he ran a hand over the baby's wispy locks. "Her and your aunt Erin would've bought out all the baby stores in all five boroughs. She loved your daddy too. You know what? Your aunt Linda even said that your dad would have a girl first when he had kids. And what do you know, she was right."

Grace gave a wide toothless smile to her uncle as she chewed on her spoon. She had truly brought so much joy to him and the rest of the family since her birth. They couldn't get enough of her.

He gave her a few more spoonfuls of food before cleaning her up and taking her out of her chair. He took her to the living room and placed her in the middle of the play pen then sat down next to her. She looked up at him for a long moment before rubbing her eyes and crawling into his lap.

"I guess you're sleepy huh?" Danny questioned as he picked up the little girl. Grace yawned and laid her head against his chest for confirmation.

"Uncle Danny is too," he agreed as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Let's take a nap, yeah? I think it's almost that time for you anyways."

He stood up with Grace and stepped out of the play pen. He walked over to her nursery and attempted to lay the little one down in her crib but Grace wasn't having any of it. She held on to the collar of Danny's shirt and shook her head no.

He couldn't help but laugh. "No crib? Okay, we'll stay together then."

He walked over to the glider in the corner of her nursery and sat down. He grabbed one of the many baby blankets in the small basket beside them and laid it over them as he reclined back. Grace laid her head back down on her uncle's chest and closed her eyes to sleep.

"Goodnight sweetheart," he whispered, kissing the top of her head again before closing his eyes to join her in sleep.
