1:30 a.m.

The moonlight was shining through the window as Eddie walked around the sunroom in her father-in-law's house bouncing her whimpering two month old son in her arms. The little one had been feeling under the weather for the past few days and was restless.

"It's okay, honey. It's okay," she whispered as she pressed a kiss onto his plump cheek.

Eddie, Grace, and Conor were staying with Frank and Henry for the weekend while Jamie was away in Boston attending the funeral of a former Harvard classmate. Since Conor was still very dependent on Eddie, they decided that it would be best for her to stay behind with the kids. Staying with Frank and Henry had been Jamie's idea, mainly so Eddie wouldn't have to deal with their energetic three year old and newborn on her own.

The continuous bouncing and cuddles weren't appeasing Conor, who's whimpers were turning into cries. Thankfully, their saving grace came in the form of her father-in-law who walked in from the kitchen.

"Need some help?" he asked.

"Oh Frank, did we wake you up?" she replied.

He shook his head, "Not at all. I wasn't sleeping anyways. I heard you two down here and figured that I'd come help out. Is he still not feeling too good?"

Eddie sighed, "Yeah."

Frank held his arms out, "Let me take him."

"Are you sure?" she asked.

He nodded, "I'm positive. Hand him over."

She carefully gave the baby to Frank. He held him up to his shoulder and rubbed soothing circles on his back.

"You sit," he told Eddie. "I got him."

Eddie smiled gratefully and sat down on the couch.

"Have you heard from Jamie?" Frank continued as he walked around the room with the baby.

"Mhmm," she replied. "I talked to him before we went to bed. He said that he was planning to drive home as soon as he woke up. There is suppose to be a get together with a bunch of his buddies from school at someone's house today. I told him that he should stay for it but he said that he wanted to come home because Conor still isn't feeling well."

Frank gave a small smile, "Always the worrier."

"He is. It's one of the best things about him but also puts more stress on him. And now that we're renovating the house before we move in, he's more stressed than usual. It's getting pricey paying for the apartment and that too. Jamie's doing some of it himself but won't let me help since I just had Conor."

"You know, if you guys need help doing some renovations, I know quite a few guys who will work for pizza and beer."

Eddie chuckled, "Thank you. I'm sure Jamie will be calling you before too long."

"He seems calm now," Frank noted of his grandson, who was now eliciting small coos as he rested on his grandfather's shoulder.

"He is," Eddie agreed as she smiled at the two month old. "If only he could go to sleep now."

"Give it a few more minutes and he'll knocked out," Frank assured.

"I appreciate you and Henry letting us stay here with Jamie being away," Eddie said after a few quiet moments. "It's been great and I know Grace has loved being here. We all have."

"We've loved having you here. It's been a long time since we've had any grandchildren this young. We want to soak up as much time with them as we can."

When it came to looking for a home, Jamie and Eddie decided that there was no better place to settle down than Bay Ridge. It was a wonderful neighborhood for a growing family like theirs. As luck would have it, they were able to purchase a home just a block away from Frank and Henry. Grace and Conor adored them and they knew that it would be a treat to have the two older men close by as they grew up.

"I'm really glad that the kids will have you and Henry around the corner once we move into the neighborhood," she said suddenly. "I didn't have much time with my grandparents as I was growing up so I'm happy they will."

He pressed a kiss to his grandson's cheek, "We're excited for it too. Anytime you need any help, don't hesitate on asking us. We don't mind one bit."

She smiled. Then, she looked over to see Conor finally asleep on Frank's shoulder.

"He's sleeping," she said thankfully.

Frank smiled proudly, "There's never been a baby that I couldn't put to sleep."

All of sudden, they heard the front door open. They both peeked over to see Jamie walking through the doorway.

"Hey," Eddie called out.

"Hey!" he responded in surprise. He dropped the duffel bag that he was carrying and walked over to them. "What are you guys doing up?"

"Conor was having a hard time," she replied as he greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. "Your dad saved the day and got him to sleep."

"What are you doing back so early?" Frank asked as he hugged Jamie with his free arm. "Eddie said that you weren't driving back until you woke up."

"I was ready to come back," he said. He smiled at Conor. "And I was missing these guys too."

"Well, I'm glad you made it back safe," Frank responded. "And you made it back in time. Pop is going to cook a big breakfast per Grace's request."

Jamie laughed, "Of course he is."

"I think I'm going to head back up to bed," Frank announced. He turned to Jamie. "Do you want him?"

Jamie nodded. He carefully took the sleeping baby from his father and settled him in his arms. Conor opened his eyes for a brief moment before closing them again once he saw the familiar face looking down at him.

"Thank you for helping, Frank," Eddie said sincerely as she hugged her father-in-law. "I appreciate it."

"It's no problem," he responded. "You two go get some sleep before Grace wakes us all up."

Jamie and Eddie chuckled. "We will," Jamie answered. "Goodnight."

Frank gave a small nod and walked up the stairs. Then, Jamie turned to Eddie and gave her a proper greeting with a kiss on the lips.

"I'm glad you're back," Eddie said softly as they broke apart. "How'd it go?

"It was sad to have to gather for a funeral but it was nice to get to catch up with a few of my friends. I would've stayed for the brunch but I was missing you guys a lot."

"We did too, especially Grace. She's going to jump all over you when she wakes up. Danny came by and took her out for a few hours yesterday which was helpful. She conned him into taking her to the toy store and buying her something. And your dad let her ride with him to work yesterday too."

"Doesn't surprise me. I'm expecting her to want to stay here now instead of going home with us." Then, he looked down at Conor. He ran a thumb across his sleeping son's cheek and sighed. "James's kids are a few years older than Grace and Conor. It killed me seeing them up there saying goodbye to him. That's why I decided to go ahead and come home. Seeing that made me miss our two even more."

Eddie ran a hand over his messy tousled hair and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "I know honey. Let's go to bed, yeah? You must be exhausted from the drive."

Eddie put a hand on his back and directed her boys up the stairs to get a few more hours of sleep before they had to get up again.
