Jasmine's POV

Once we got to the infirmary, we laid Grover and the boy on their own beds, and Annabeth and I got them both some ambrosia and nectar.

Chiron came by a couple minutes later and helped us. After a little while, Grover woke up and, after drinking a little more nectar, he told us what happened, starting at the beginning.

The boy's name was Percy Jackson. He was attacked by a fury at his school, he and his mom went on a trip to Montauk, where Grover went to find them, and then the Minotaur found them.

"The Minotaur?" Annabeth asked in disbelief.

Grover nodded. "Yes."

He continued the story. Percy, his mother, and Grover drove off toward Camp Half-Blood. There, the Minotaur, Asterion (I like to call him by his real name rather than his monster name), crashed their car and that's when Grover was knocked unconscious and woke up here in the infirmary.

"So you don't know what happened after that?" I asked.

He shook his head. "No. Did any of you see the Minotaur?"

We shook our heads.

"No," Annabeth said. "We didn't see Percy's mother either."

"But he got away from the Minotaur," Chiron said. "For now, that's all that matters."

"It's all my fault," Grover sniffled.

"No, it's not, Grover." I gave him a hug. "You did the best you could."

"But it wasn't enough."

It really pained me to see him like this. But there was nothing I could say that would make him feel better. Especially since this wasn't the first time that this had happened to him before.

"Grover," Chiron said. "I'd like to speak to you about this in the Big House."

"Yes, sir," he replied. "Annabeth and Jasmine, will you two take care of Percy?"

"Of course, Chiron," Annabeth replied.

"He's in good hands," Jasmine said.

Chiron nodded.

After he and Grover left the infirmary, I sat down on a seat right next to Percy's bed and Annabeth was sitting on his other side, spoon-feeding him ambrosia.

"Poor Grover," I said. "It happened to him again."

"I know," Annabeth agreed. "But there wasn't really much that he could do."

"No. You don't blame him for what happened to Thalia, do you?"

Annabeth shook his head. "No. Thalia sacrificed herself to save us. That wasn't Grover's fault."

"No, it wasn't."

Thinking about Thalia was painful. But we couldn't keep dwelling on that every time we think we think of her. It's been five years, for God's sake. What happened, happened. And the best thing we can do was move on, but never let go.

"Jasmine?" Annabeth called.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"About the fight we had before Toothless interrupted, about your parents having you at the age of sixteen and me saying that it was a mistake, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you."

"You didn't just offend me, you offended them as well, the ones you call Mom and Dad too."

"I know, and I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were so sensitive about it."

"Well, now you do. And I hope that from now on, you'll be careful what you say about that. At least to me."

"I will."

"Good. And thank you for apologizing."

"You're welcome."

I smiled and held my arm with my bracelet out to her. She bumped it with her bracelet.

"I'm actually surprised you brought it up," I said. "Considering how mad I was at you."

"Yeah," Annabeth replied. "When Toothless interrupted your rant, I thought of it as a 'saved by the bell' moment."

I laughed. "Yeah. I probably would've too."

"But, Jasmine, before that, you were saying something about your parents, and how they're at least . . . what, unlike me and everyone else here?"

Uh-oh.

I hesitated. "Umm, how my parents are still together, as strong as ever, and none of yours are anymore." I avoided Annabeth's gaze. "I know it's not fair, but—"

"But it's true," Annabeth finished.

I looked at her and she gave me a smile of understanding. "I don't care."

"I didn't think you would," I replied.

"Do you really think that I'm a lonely, prideful bitch?"

"A prideful bitch? Yeah. But definitely not a lonely one, and never will be."

"You'll make sure of that."

"Damn right, I will."

We both laughed.

I sighed. "So, we've got a new demigod."

"Yeah," Annabeth agreed. "Does he look familiar to you?"

I looked over Percy lying down on the bed closely, but shook my head. "No. Does he to you?"

"Yeah, but I don't know where from."

"Does his name sound familiar?"

Annabeth shook her head. "No. But he must've killed the Minotaur. I can't believe it."

"And I think Asterion also killed his mother," I said. "Are you jealous?"

"That he lost his mother?"

"No. That he killed Asterion."

"Of course I am. I've been wanting to do something like that for years, but I'm too well protected to be attacked by something that big."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"To me it is."

"Whatever."

"But I think he knows about what's happening with the gods," Annabeth said.

"You always think that with every new demigod that's come to camp since the winter solstice," I said. "And you're always wrong."

"I have to be right this time."

"You say that every time too."

"Jasmine."

"All right. Maybe you're right this time, or maybe you're not. We'll find out eventually."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. Now I'm done with him here, so you just give him a few more bites of ambrosia and let him rest, and I'm going to go hang out with Luke. Do you want to come?"

Annabeth shook her head. "No, you go ahead. I'll watch him."

"Really?" I asked, surprised. "You don't want to be with Luke?"

"Just shut up and go, Jasmine."

"Alright. I'll be back in a little while."

"Ok."

"Bye."

I went outside to Toothless, climbed onto his back, and we flew off, leaving Annabeth alone with Percy Jackson lying unconscious in the infirmary.

Well, ok, it's not this chapter, it's the next one I can't wait for. That's what happens when you go on a long hiatus from writing your story. And sorry about the long updates, guys. I have a few book series I would like to read, and that mixed with work makes it a lot longer than it would've been, say, a little more than a year ago, and then I had some chaos go down in my life a couple weeks ago that made me need to take a serious reality check. But it's all good now, and I will continue posting once a month for now.

Merry Christmas, and I'll see you all again next year!
