Summary: Kagome, a sweet and caring girl who was destined to fall into the past at the young age of 15, is now a cadet at the Galaxy Garrison. Without warning, she's swept up in a new adventure with a new team. Her docile nature is shed away and is replaced by a trained warrior. Inherently strong and a formidable force to be reckoned with, she's not what her appearance makes her out to be.

Pairing: [Endgame] Kagome x Keith; lots of minor shipping, though.

Chapter Nine

She woke early the next morning. Kagome sighed and draped an arm over her eyes as she felt her senses steadily becoming aware of her surroundings again. She still felt exhausted, but all she could do was bide her time until she was recouped fully.

She felt an extra source of weight shift on the bed, and a second later, she felt Kirara settle down on her chest. Kagome lowered her arm from where it was draped over her eyes, and when she opened them, her gaze met Kirara's wide-eyed stare. She sat watching her, not moving in the slightest. Kagome sighed and slowly sat up as Kirara scampered up onto her shoulder.

"I'm up, I'm up," she told the cat, who mewed happily in response. Kagome yawned and rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she moved to stand up.

She worked on detangling her hair as she combed her fingers through the long, sleep-mussed locks.

"Maybe some meditation would do me some good…" she mused softly to herself. The idea sounded nice, but before she could do anything, Coran's voice traveled over the intercom.

"Pidge, please come join us in the detainment room."

Kagome arched a brow and tilted her head to the side. If the others were gathering down there, then should she go as well? She knew he hadn't summoned her specifically, but she was also curious about what was happening. With a quick shrug, she pushed her plans of meditation to the back of her mind and left her room.

She followed the faint pulse of auras that she could feel down to where the others had gathered, peeking her head in once she got there.

"Hey guys," she called out as she entered the fray with the others. They seemed startled by her presence, and she tilted her head to the side with a faint smile.

"What are you doing down here?" Coran asked, folding his arms over his chest.

Kagome arched a brow. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"You might be out of the cryo-pod, but you're still recovering, Kagome," Shiro turned towards her. She knew she couldn't argue his claim, but she didn't budge where she stood. She cupped her hands together behind her back as she looked up to meet his stare. "Don't go pushing yourself before you're even recovered."

"Mmhmm…" Kagome glanced around him and spotted the reason everyone had gathered at last. She could tell there was something more, even if he didn't say it. "So… This is where you put Sendak after taking him down?" she asked. She mentioned the name, and she felt the faint spike in his aura.

"There it is!" Kagome hissed through her head. He didn't want her near the Galra man. She sighed and shook her head. "What's the plan for him?" she asked, brushing off her prior realization.

"Well," Coran walked over to her and motioned to Sendak in the pod. The devices hooked up to it were unfamiliar to her, and he explained the same way he had done to the others before Kagome showed up. "We're going to try and extract Sendak's memories in order to get information about Zarkon and his troop locations."

Kagome nodded. "So kinda like interrogating him without the middle step of dealing with him talking?"

"I…" Coran paused before nodding. "Well, yes!"

Kagome hummed softly, nodding her head slowly before abruptly looking at Coran. "So what's the problem if I hang out here with you guys? Not like I'm going to be doing anything taxing on my energy."

"Well…" Coran turned back to her, a troubled expression on his face. "Right now Sendak is stable, but for all we know something could change and he could wake up."

"He was pretty intent on you," Shiro said. "Who's to say he won't focus on you again if that does happen?"

An unamused expression fell over her face for the first time since joining them in the detainment room. "That just sounds like needless worry to me," Kagome said. "I could tell you a dozen stories of even worse things that have happened to me," she added on as a reminder.

Anyway… last time she was already injured badly. She knew she could take him in her current state…

"That's beside the point," Shiro said, moving to stand in front of her. "You shouldn't go pushing yourself."

She reached out and patted his arm. "And I promise I'll let you know when that's happening," she said, turning away from him.

Her action ended the conversation abruptly, and Shiro looked at her turned back in surprise. A second later, an exasperated smile formed on his face as he shook his head.

Yup. There's the Kagome he knew.

One by one, the group slowly thinned out. Soon enough, just her and Shiro remained. No matter how long they waited, nothing seemed to change at all.

Kagome combed her fingers through her hair before brushing it back over her shoulder. The thought of meditation returned to her, and she sighed as she lowered both hands back down to her sides.

"Well, I think I've given all I can to this," she said finally. Long ago, Coran had drug Lance off to do some cleaning. Everyone else before that had already gone off to do their own things to pass time, as well. "Call me down if there are any changes," she said, briefly looking up at Shiro. He didn't respond, and she hummed, curious. She reached out to him, gently resting her hand on his arm. She felt him twitch, startled by the touch, and he looked down at her. "You okay, Shiro?" she asked, her voice soft.

He could see the worry in her eyes, and he smiled, forcing a nod. "Y-Yeah," he said, but he could tell she didn't believe his gesture or words. "What were you saying?" Shiro asked, changing the focus of the conversation.

"I said to call me down if there are any changes," she said. Kagome paused for a second, adding on quietly, "... or if you just wanna talk." Something was bothering him, but she didn't want to pressure it out of him. Shiro smiled at her comment, and he nodded. He set a hand on her shoulder, causing her to look back up to meet his gaze.

"Don't worry," he said softly. "Will do."

Kagome returned the smile and rose a hand to rest it on the one of his now on her shoulder. "I'll be in my room doing some meditation," she said after a moment of silence.

That was the plan, at least, but she never knew where she'd be now with everyone else around.

"If not," she spoke up once more, scooping Kirara up into her arms and urging her onto Shiro's shoulder. "Send her to find me. She'll hunt me down like I'm one of Allura's mice."

"Got it," Shiro said, and he lowered his hand from her so she could move away from him. He watched for a moment as she walked down the corridor before his focus swapped back to Sendak. His smile faded and was replaced by a glare as he focused on the Galra.

Kagome rested her back against the door to her room after it closed behind her. She hung her head and focused her attention on her feet as she sighed.

"... meditation, right," Kagome said something finally, shaking her head to clear her thoughts as she went to the center of her room. She dropped down into a seated position as she exhaled, letting go of her concerns and worry as the breath left her lungs.

As she meditated, the world around her faded away. It wasn't the normal feeling she got when she settled down to meditate, and she cautiously resurfaced from the abyss she'd plunged herself into. When she opened her eyes, however, things felt different instantly.

For one, she wasn't even in the same room anymore.

Panicked, she bolted onto her feet, worried eyes sweeping her surroundings for any rhyme or reason for the sudden shift. She felt an odd swell of power, and she turned, nervous to face what it was.

When she got a good look at it, she realized she was in some sort of observatory, overlooking a glowing, bright rift. The power radiating off of it burned. It was a source of great power, and it was probably one of the most powerful auras she'd ever felt before.

Alarmed, she backed up some, nearly stumbling onto her rear end by accident with she misstepped.

"Everything alright?" an unfamiliar voice reached her ears, and Kagome turned. Her gaze landed on an Altean woman she didn't recognize at first. "You look like you got a pretty big scare over something." Her light purple hair was pulled back in a neat bun, her bangs sweeping to the side over her warm-brown skin. There was a glimmer of intrigue in her golden eyes, purple pupils highlighting the golden hue brightly. Noticing her silence, she tilted her head to the side. "Azilu…? Did you hear me"

Kagome was silent for a moment as realization came crashing down like harsh waves. She was in another dreamlike state, one that enabled her to reenter these memories that didn't belong to her.

Kagome shook her head and looked back at the woman standing with her. A name came back to her, and she suddenly knew who this woman was. "I-I'm fine, Honerva," she said finally. "Just got a bit startled is all," she added quietly.

"If you're sure," Honerva responded as she walked past her. She stopped in the same place she'd been in moments ago. "It's magnificent isn't it?" she asked, turning back to her a second later. Kagome was startled by her sudden burst of energy. "Just think of all the knowledge we can get out of this tiny rift. The possibilities are truly endless!"

"I don't think Azilu here mirrors your excitement so much, Honerva," a new voice chimed in, amusement layering the deeper, masculine sound.

Kagome turned, recognizing the voice vaguely from her own subconscious. She knew this figure. There was another figure along with him, one she felt like she'd seen several times over. Upon seeing him, she felt her heart clench painfully in her chest. She was no stranger to this sort of pain, however…

"Well, no, not exactly," Kagome said with a faint laugh. "But it's hard to ignore it when it reflects so much in her aura," she added on as she glanced back at Honerva. "It's nice to feel such a radiant aura, after all."

At her comment, Kagome could swear she saw Honerva's cheeks flush a faint red hue.

She didn't understand how she fell into place so easily. Her soul seemed to tell her what to say, and the words came automatically. She wasn't sure how to feel about all of that...

Without warning, the background around her began to blur together in a horrible mash of undefined swirls of colors. She stifled a groan as she felt like she was transported from that place, squeezing her eyes closed when her surroundings became too much to bear. Those around her didn't seem to notice. They, just like her surroundings, faded away as a memory.

When she finally opened her eyes next, her surroundings had changed entirely.

A field of strange-looking flowers surrounded her seated form. She took the stalk of one between her fingers and carefully plucked it from the patch, lifting the delicate plant up to her nose in order to sniff it.

It carried a sweet aroma. Upon smelling it, the name of these flowers settled in the back of her mind.

Juniberries.

These were juniberry blooms.

"Do you want that one added?"

She jumped some at hearing the voice that came from behind her. She turned a bit, eyes landing on a man with long, black hair tied back in a low ponytail. He, just like everyone else, felt so familiar to her.

Her gaze landed on the wreath of flowers he worked on weaving together, and she understood the reason behind his question. With a faint nod, she held it out to him, and he took it the next second. He set to work, incorporating it into the wreath with the others.

As he worked quietly behind her, she let her focus drift back to her surroundings. So invested in the scenery, she was taken by surprise when the wreath of flowers settled on the top of her head, lying comfortably like a crown made to fit her.

"Done," he said. "Do you wanna see how it looks on you?"

Kagome had nodded before she even realized what she was doing. She heard him chuckle from behind, and soon enough a mirror was held up in front of her face.

The mirror held out in front of her showed her reflection. She didn't look like herself anymore. Not just due to the Altean markings she now bore, but she was also much younger. Staring back at her was a child, no older than eight years old.

A flower crown of blooms now rested on the top of her head. The stalks of the flowers were woven together with practiced expertise. Her dark locks were brushed back into a neat, long braid, exposing the pointed tips of her ears. It was at that point that she noticed a light pink star mark just below her right ear. It peeked out just behind her white-jeweled earrings.

She ignored it and turned from her reflection, tilting her head back just enough to peek at the figure behind her. Her gaze met gentle green as the man behind her caught her stare, shifting his focus to her entirely upon realizing she was looking at him.

Nothing but pure affection lurked in his eyes when he watched her, a loving warmth lighting up his green eyes.

"Is this one to your approval?" he asked finally, his tone playful. It was then that she realized that he, too, had a wreath of flowers on his head. He'd made at least two, then.

"Ciyras…" she spoke the unfamiliar name, and watched as his ears twitched a bit at the chime of her voice. He hummed and nodded towards her, silently urging her to speak. "Thank you," she said finally, and he smiled. The next second, he plucked another flower from the patch.

He set it behind her ear before finally lowering his hand. He rose to his feet, and she felt as he picked her up. She was held carefully to his chest as he walked.

"Alright, Azilu, let's get you home, okay?"

The surroundings began to blur again, and Kagome squeezed her eyes shut as the sights began to hurt her eyes once again.

She was hesitant to open her eyes again, but she urged herself to do so anyway.

When she did, she was looking up at a night sky full of stars.

"Rather radiant night tonight, hm?"

For a moment she was stunned when she heard Alfor's voice. When she turned to face him, she offered him a smile, despite the way her heart squeezed in pain within her chest.

She knew this pain without needing any explanation for the cause. This was heartbreak.

She heard Alfor sigh as she turned away from him.

"Mind if I sit with you?" he asked, watching as she shrugged in response. He settled down beside her, turning his gaze up to watch the sky above as well. After a second, she broke the silence.

"... why'd you come out here?"

"Well, you hadn't come back yet, so I got concerned. I came to check on you," he said.

"I'm fine. You can go now," she said then. "I just… I'm not in a celebratory mood tonight. I'd just bring everyone down if I went to the festival."

"Oh, I doubt that's the case," Alfor said. "It's not a summer berry festival without you."

Kagome turned away from him at the comment. "If there are berries, then sure it is."

Alfor frowned at her sharp retort. "Azilu, what's bothering you?"

"... Nothing," she said. Tears burned in her eyes, and she drew her knees up to her chest, gripping tight with her fingers.

"I don't quite believe you, my friend," he said. "I heard from Honerva about your fight with Ciyras," Alfor added on. He saw her tense up at the comment.

"He's a jerk, moving on," she responded stiffly.

"Azilu… Ciyras cares about you a lot, and he only wants the best for you. You know this."

The held-back tears began to slowly cascade down her cheeks. "Well, when I understand how him telling me the person I love isn't good enough for me, I'll check back in with you."

"He didn't mean it like that," Alfor responded. "Honerva told me what they talked about. I guess you just happened to walk in at the wrong time."

She shook her head and slowly turned back to face him. Alfor frowned and slowly reached a hand out, swiping a thumb along the tear trails running down her cheeks. "What does any of that have to do if we're happy as we are?" she whispered. "Status is a stupid concept that shouldn't be a barrier when it comes to love."

Alfor offered her a sympathetic smile. "I know," he said. "And I know you're hurting right now, but staying out here all alone won't make you feel any better. You and Honerva wanted to go to the festival together, so why don't you go and enjoy yourself? You shouldn't let things like this ruin your plans and your ability to be happy alongside someone you care about."

She felt him clear the rest of her tears from her face. A second later, his hand found her own, and he urged her back onto her feet

"Come on," Alfor said, smiling down at her. "It'd be a shame for my friend to wallow the night away in her own sorrows, you know."

As she was led forward by her hand, once again the world around her faded into a harsh assault of swirls. She closed her eyes and waited until she felt it was a good time to reopen them. Upon doing so, she realized she was at a place she'd been before, but only once.

The pink sky above her head was the exact same sky as the one from the planet she'd gone to at the start of all of this. The planet the White Lion had been hidden away on for the past eons.

When she glanced down at her body, she realized she was dressed in her normal clothes.

Was she here as herself this time?

She went ahead. It didn't take her long before she realized why she walked the direction she did. Something was pulling her forward. She didn't know what to make of it, but she was able to place the faint pulling she felt in the distance.

The path she walked was different from the one she remembered walking with Keith, but before long that same white barrier appeared before her. She came to a halt before it, blue eyes gazing up at the endless wall of white she stood before. A part of her was hesitant on her next move, but she had already reached out before she realized what she was doing.

The barrier gave way to her and allowed her to walk through it. She walked deeper into a forest of lush greenery and rainbows of flowers. After what felt like hours of walking, she came to a different source of water. It wasn't purple like the stream she remembered. This spring of water was a rosy pink color, almost the same hue as the sky overhead.

For a moment, a faint foreboding feeling spread through her chest. The pulling she felt came from the water. Nothing felt dangerous to her but… still.

She pushed herself to move again, taking slow, steady steps over to the spring resting in the middle of odd tranquility. She made it to the edge, but when she looked down into the water, she stumbled back as if she'd just been hit. Her heart hammered in her chest as she tried to figure out, without looking again, if what she'd seen within the water was truly what she'd seen. Eventually, she came to the decision that she had to look once more, and she slowly eased back over to peer into the water.

She crawled over on her hands and knees as she slowly took in the full sight of what lay beneath the water's surface.

Azilu's body rested peacefully at the bottom of the spring, her dark hair fanned out around her motionless body. She bore no wounds, and her expression made her appear as if she was merely sleeping.

She could feel the growing activeness of the Shikon no Tama, just as much as she could see the pink glow emanating off of it growing stronger.

Despite her better judgment, she slowly reached a hand out to the water. The water's surface rippled slowly as her fingers grazed it. An electric-like current raced through her the moment her fingers touched the water, but it didn't hurt any.

"Why…?" Her question died on her lips before she could even say the whole thing.

Why was Azilu here in this water? Was she there when she went to get the White Lion? Was she still there?

She couldn't find an answer to any of them here, not like this, at least. The woman in the water wouldn't be able to answer them.

Her surroundings began to blur once again, and Kagome slowly retracted her hand from the water as she slipped her eyes shut to wait out the nauseating phasing.

Once it all faded away, Kagome reopened her eyes and she was back in her room aboard the Castleship, as if nothing had happened. She could still feel the faint presence of tears on her cheeks, but, by now, the trails had dried uncomfortably against her skin.

She rose to her feet slowly, her mind still scrambled as she tried to piece together everything she'd just gone through. It'd been a whirlwind for her in every sense of the word, and she didn't understand any of it at all. She was quiet as she slowly went over to her door, hoping a walk would help clear her head.

The halls were empty as she left, and after a few minutes, she found herself heading down the hall that'd lead her to where Shiro was. She shook her head, deciding to go and check on how everything was going with Sendak in order to distract herself from her own issues.

An odd aura caught her attention after she'd been walking down that hall for a minute or two. Kagome came to an abrupt halt at the strange aura that brushed along her own. She turned to where it seemed to source from. Far off down the sparingly lit hall, she saw a figure standing and watching her.

For a moment, her fight or flight instincts stirred, but she soon recognized the figure standing down the hall. It was King Alfor, and she instantly figured it must've been his AI somehow standing there.

She was about to turn her back and continue back to regroup with Shiro when she felt some sort of invisible force pull her back. She came to an abrupt halt, glancing over her shoulder and spotting the figure still standing there.

She turned fully and began to head down the hall towards him. However, as she finally started going that way, he faded, but the pull didn't. She continued further down the hall, and, before long, she realized she was heading towards the lions- or more so, her lion.

She came to an eventual halt in front of the White Lion as it sat in a dormant state. Kagome looked up at its face, blue eyes silently taking in the sight of it.

"You might have the answers I want, huh?" she asked softly. She felt it reach out through their connection, and she felt like the answer she got in return was a resolute yes.

It was a good enough answer to her, and she made up her mind to board her lion. Before she could, however, the sound of alarms stole her focus. For a moment, her gaze swapped back to the White Lion, but she turned away the next second, rushing off to where the others are.

Her problems had to wait.

She met back up with the others in the detainment room, but she was keen to notice the absence of Sendak's pod. She spared the place where it had been earlier a curious look and looked at Shiro. "What's going on?"

"The ships going bananas, that's what's going on!" Lance exclaimed. "Haven't you noticed?"

Kagome's expression faltered into a blank look as she thought back to how she spent her morning. She wasn't sure if her issues during meditation were tied to any of this, and she sighed. "I've actually been in my room since I left here," she admitted with a shrug.

"It's good that you're all well and safe," Coran said, and she looked his way. "It seems that the virus from that Galra crystal is worse than we thought."

"Good thing you showed up when you did. We were about to come after you if you didn't," Keith said, folding his arms over his chest.

"Yeah," Pidge nodded. "After how obsessed Sendak got with you, we got worried that somehow this virus would chase you down no matter what."

Kagome smiled. "I'm happy to hear that everyone's worried about me, but there's no need. I can purify tainted energy sources, no matter how bad. I'm sure this is no different. It just takes a long time."

"Good to know!" Coran exclaimed, "because we need to get rid of this little nuisance as quickly as we can."

Kagome was about to reply when a strange beeping was heard. Coran stood straight as a needle as he looked around.

"How's this possible?" he asked out loud, and the rest turned towards him for elaboration. He spared them a quick glance before rushing off. "The Castle is preparing a wormhole jump!" he called out over his shoulder.

They followed after Coran as he ran to the Bridge. Upon arriving they spotted Allura standing at the controls, the AI of King Alfor at her side. They came to a halt a few paces behind them, but neither of them seemed to notice their presence.

"Allura?" Shiro called out to her. "What's going on? What are you doing?"

She turned a fraction, glancing over at the ones who stood behind her with a smile present on her face. "We're going home to Altea," she said softly. "Father is taking us home."

"Princess, that can't be," Coran said. "Altea is gone, we cannot go back to it anymore," he said as he moved to put a supportive hand on her shoulder. The moment he did, King Alfor's AI turned and faced them. A protective, clear wall separated the pair from the rest.

"Stay away from my daughter!" he snarled at the group.

"This is no good," Coran frowned and lowered his hand. "The crystal must have corrupted King Alfor's artificial intelligence. It's taking over everything!"

Kagome looked from Coran and back to the pair. A second later, she stepped up to the barrier and rested a hand on it. "Allura, you need to snap out of it," she said.

King Alfor's AI turned to her next, and she felt the weight of his gaze on her as she tried to ignore it. "Don't you wish to go home, too, Azilu?" he asked softly. Kagome's eyes widened at the comment, blue eyes darting up to glare at his face. "I hoped those memories would urge you along with us."

Had he been the one pushing those memories on her during her meditation? She knew it was possible, due to her mind being in an open state during her meditation.

"You're talking to the wrong person right now," Kagome replied. "I'm not Azilu. I will never be her," she responded, her voice like ice as she spoke.

For a moment, she saw his expression soften. It faded a second later, getting replaced by the hardened one of the corrupted AI.

"We're heading right for a star that's due to explode any second now!" Pidge exclaimed. "We have to go, now!"

"I can see Altea in the distance…" Allura said softly, ignoring Pidge's concern. "It's alright, that's Altea."

"Allura none of what you see is real!" Kagome called out to her. "I know all you want to do is go home, we all do, but remember? We need to fight and defeat Zarkon!"

"I think you'll like the juniberries the most, Kagome," Allura said after a moment. "They're the most exquisite flower of all."

"Allura you have to listen to us!" Coran called out to her, joining Kagome by the barrier.

She glanced back at them, the flower in her hand lowering a bit. A second later, she looked back in front of her. "This is all real… isn't it?"

"Of course it is real, Daughter," King Alfor's AI spoke to her "That flower you hold is real, just as real as the Altea you see before you."

"If it is real, then where is the sweet aroma of the juniberries?" Coran asked her, and after a second, Allura glanced down at the flower she held.

She rose it to her nose and sniffed, only to find it bore no scent of its own. Her eyes widened as the illusion slowly began to fall. Allura turned to face ahead of her, her eyes widening as the illusion of Altea before her shifted into a glowing star about to burst. "That's not Altea," she said.

She was soon forced away from the controls, and Kagome caught her before she could hit the ground.

"When that star finally explodes, the blast is gonna destroy the entire solar system," Pidge said as Kagome helped Allura back onto her own feet. "Allura you need to reset the course so we can get away from it before that happens!"

Allura turned to the barrier she'd been forced out of, rushing to it the next second. "Father, please! You must change the ship's course! If you don't, then all of us will perish!"

"I know." His response was cold. "That is my plan."

"What?" Allura's eyes widened. "Why?!

"Oh, my dear Daughter, don't you see?" King Alfor's AI turned to her. "Zarkon can never be defeated. He's been ruling for ten thousand years. There is no reason to keep fighting against him, not anymore."

"No! We must keep fighting, no matter what!" Allura exclaimed desperately.

"Fight for what?" King Alfor's AI questioned. "You don't need to live a lifetime of war, Allura. You can join me and the rest of your people and be at peace."

"Father, please! I know that the Paladins and I can put an end to Zarkon," Allura pleaded. "I know somewhere inside you, you must want us to succeed for the rest of the cosmos! Even if Altea is gone, Father, we can't give up the fight for all the other innocent lives suffering!"

The AI glitched for a moment, the expression of it softening a bit. "A-Allura, my AI has been corrupted. You must disconnect the power source." The true consciousness of King Alfor resurfaced for a moment. It faded as quickly as it appeared, the corrupted side returning just as suddenly. "We can stroll across the Blossom Canyon just like we used to do every morning. You always loved that. Do you remember it?"

Allura nodded as she backed away from the barrier. "I remember," she said softly. "I'll see you soon, Father," Allura said before turning to face the others. "I have to get into the AI chamber in order to disconnect my father's power source manually. It's the only way to stop all of this."

"That would mean we lose King Alfor forever," Coran said. "Are you sure, Allura?"

Allura glanced at her feet in silence before looking back up at Coran. A second later, she smiled and nodded. "I'm sure," she said finally. "It must be done, Coran." She looked at the other six and nodded. "Right, you all, get to your lions. I need you to slow the Castle's descent into the star until we're able to leave."

With that order, they left to their lions.

When it all came to an end, and they'd gotten away from the death-trap in waiting, they regrouped with Allura in Bridge. She'd managed to stop the corrupted AI of King Alfor, but it came at the cost of his memories.

Kagome sat down next to her and let Allura lean on her shoulder, to which the Altean woman graciously accepted. The silence around them was heavy, but no one could push themselves to break it. Eventually, Shiro was the one to speak first, settling down on Allura's other side and resting a supportive hand on her shoulder as she looked at him.

"I'm so sorry about your father, Princess," he said, his words pulling hums of agreement from the others who couldn't find words to say.

"We all are," Hunk said then, and Allura felt a small smile lift on her expression when their sentiments reached her heart. She slowly pushed herself back up onto her feet and nodded.

"Thank you, but that was not my father," she said, taking a few steps before turning and looking at everyone. "The real King Alfor was a great man and a great father. I know he might not be here with us anymore, but his dreams survive through all of us, and his legacy is Voltron."

"That's a wonderful way to put it," Kagome said as she rose back onto her feet. Allura matched her gaze with a smile.

"Thank you," Allura said softly.

As the others began to leave, Kagome hung back for a moment. She wasn't the only one to, either.

Kagome shook her head, turning to Coran a second later. Now that all was said and done, the corrupted AI even trying to push herself into becoming Azilu, she knew there was no way she could push all of this behind her.

"Coran?" she called his name quietly, and he looked at her with a curious hum.

"What is it Kagome?"

"I want you to tell me who Azilu is," she said decisively, leaving no room for an argument from the orange-haired Altean. Coran's eyes widened for a moment before a faint smile appeared on his face.

"Yes, well I suppose now might be a good time to bring all of this up to you," he said softly. "I… I will tell you all I feel is right to say about your predecessor, Kagome."

It was such a delicate subject, even after so long.

C.R: It's been a while since I got this one updated. No worries, I'm still working on it.

Azilu's early demise was tragic, and definitely left a lot of wounds on many people who cared about her. (Zarkon, and Honverva included.) I know there's been questions about her relation to Coran- the answer will come soon. I'll say that, to Azilu, he was a good friend. And, in saying that, King Alfor might've had the slightest [unrequited] crush on Azilu before he met Allura's mother.

Thanks to the corrupted King Alfor AI Kagome has new memories of Azilu's past. Honestly, it's pretty bittersweet.

Kagome's still struggling to handle them, especially when she's put in the role of Azilu.

Also, a note:

The memories Kagome visited during her meditation will be revisited sometime soon as official flashback-like content. (with much more detailed interactions from Azilu's pov.)

About the pairing:

It's not impossible to have this turn into a Shiro/Kagome/Keith. There will be several shipping hints for Kagome, since the pairing will come into play later, so I won't say it's not possible for the pairing to shift or add another to it, but as of right now, I'm not focused on the pairing. After all, as of now, there are planned moments for Kagome/Allura, Kagome/Lance, Kagome/Lotor, Kagome/Keith, and Kagome/Shiro. (+any other's that might come up later. Heck… maybe even some Kagome/Matt.)
I'll leave it at this: Additions to the pairing aren't off the table, but not my main focus. They're just more options to consider, so I don't mind. Either way, the pair will still include Keith/Kagome.

Feel free to give me your feedback on this, too.

Anyway that's it for now. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
