The mission to root out the Separatists on Dathomir was coming to a close, and Crosshair was grouchy. Not that Crosshair being disagreeable was unexpected, but even Hunter noted that this level of irritability was unusual. So when he growled about making a perimeter and climbed the highest available tree everyone was relieved.

Crosshair's absence also gave them a few minutes to discuss the matter with Cody taking the lead, "What's wrong with him?"

Hunter shook his shaggy head interfering with the view of the red skull tattoo on one side of his face, "Nothing that will interfere with the mission."

Kenobi, as willing to help as ever, spoke up, "Is there something we can do to help?"

Wreckers' booming laugh broke out, "No sir!"

As everyone looked to Hunter he explained, "Crosshair has a wife." That was shocking but also shocking, "She was raised here, and has told him a lot of stories about what it was like."

"So," Corric said as if trying to understand, "his wife has PTSD about this place and he wants to burn it down."

A nod with Hunters, "Basically."

Rex shrugged, "Not the craziest thing I've heard." And then they went back to work.

Later they learned it was not just the PTSD that was a problem. Swirls of green smoke solidified into a figure who spoke to them across the empty battlefield riddled with bodies, "Crosshair," bowing her head, "my daughters mate."

A growl from the tall silver-white haired man, "She is no connection of yours."

"So you wish to believe." Laughing, "But as long as I live, there is a connection to her and the unborn child." Smiling at Crosshair, "I can call them whenever I wish, and they will come to me."

Moving faster than anyone thought possible Crosshair raised his rifle and emptied the clip into the woman dressed head to toe in red. Her dead body hit the ground with a smile still on its face but eyes were empty of the triumph that once lit them. "Then it's a good thing you're dead," with that Crosshair got the last word.

No one discussed what he had done. But when Crosshair returned to base they saw a gray skinned young woman with markings similar to the Witch woman who taunted Crosshair run up to him. He took off his helmet and kissed her before pulling her into a hug. She clung to him as if relieved he was safe. And the fact her stomach was starting to bulge with pregnancy was another thing no one commented on.
