...

There was little time to alert Orion to what was happening. He hadn't even changed into out of his vigilante gear when he laid down. Izuku called upon the Spirits of the Wind the moment he arrived outside.

It was faster than traveling on foot or by train. The only issue was how much energy it took up. He could take the drain, however. Hawks would not have used his emergency beacon unless it was absolutely necessary.

No matter how hard he pushed his control over the Spirits of the Wind it still took him an hour to reach the location. Too long for his peace of mind. When he arrived he found a dark alley far from what Hawks would normally patrol. Even further from any potential backup if he got into trouble.

What idiot decided this was where Hawks would patrol? When he found them they would regret ever being born. Looking around he was decidedly pissed off. There were only a handful of police officers and one hero.

The hero he recognized was Kage an undergrounder. He was young only in his mid-twenties if Izuku had to guess. Shaggy brown hair fell into his eyes that were covered by a small mask. His quirk was Shadow Manipulation and the range was fairly decent. Like Izuku he could travel quickly over short distances. Anything over 15 meters was too much for the hero though.

Izuku couldn't see Hawks from his position and the emergency beacon had been disabled. Had they already taken him to the hospital? Or... no he couldn't think like that.

After a moment of watching he landed just outside of the alley. He hid his presence within the wind so that they wouldn't pick up that someone was listening in. He moved just close enough to see what happened. The alley was covered with red feathers. Hawks' red feathers to be precise. A metallic scent lay heavy in the air. Many of the feathers were covered in dark splotches of blood.

Whoever had attacked Hawks had done an excellent job. They were prepared to fight off both his physical attacks and using his feathers. A better look at the end of the walls of the alley showed deep gouges. Gouges that could only be made from a blade.

Stain. Stain had gone after one of the few people he had cared about. Was Hawks even still alive?

Kage asked as if he could read Izuku's mind, "Any word yet on Hawks?"

One of the officers replied, "Not yet. But he was taken to the nearest hospital. Recovery Girl is said to be there for personal reasons."

The nearest hospital? Using his wrist computer he searched for it. A few miles away was a hospital. It wasn't in the best sales of town but it wasn't Musutafu bad. The only other one was on completely another side of town.

Closest first. If Hawks wasn't there he would double-check the registry at the other hospital. Hacking into their registry wouldn't be much of an issue. While he could have done that before leaving the ally his magic was already taking him away. Both heroes and police brought hands up against the wind when it picked up. No one however noticed the person in the wind.

When he arrived he briefly considered entering the hospital. Then he remembered what exactly he was wearing. There was no way he would be allowed anywhere near the Hero Ward. He very much doubted they would allow him in out of his gear either. Which meant he would need to hack their servers and find out what room he was in.

Sighing he accessed the information on his wrist computer. A few moments later and he had the room number. He was fresh out of healing and would be held for a few days. However, the Hawks would suffer no permanent damage. Hawks should already be in his room. That meant Izuku could check on him before slipping out again. A quick check that was all he needed.

Pushing back his hood as he landed on the window sill he looked in. Hawks was wearing light pants and his chest was bandaged. Izuku could not see his wings and hoped to any God listening that they weren't under the bandages. That would break out any winged person.

To his surprise, the window wasn't locked. Then again... Izuku glanced down at the street below. This was the seventh floor. Not many would have the guts to go in through the window on the seventh floor. Anyone who ever said he was normal was either an idiot or a liar.

Silently he dropped into the room releasing the Spirits that had encased him. With the window open cold air found its way inside. In his current state Hawks shivered with the cold. With the shifting Izuku was able to see the man's wings. While it wouldn't be comfortable for him to be laying on them they were at least uncovered.

Izuku went to the closest and grabbed a blanket to lay over Hawks. He didn't like many people but this one he did like. No matter what happened Hawks had always treated him well. It was his turn to repay the favor.

As he laid the blanket over the young hero the spirit whispered a warning. People were heading their way. It was time to leave.

...

He was relieved to see Keigo asleep when he entered the younger's hospital room. It was a miracle that the other had survived his encounter with Stain at all. Very few had lived through an encounter since Stain became the Hero Killer instead of a vigilante. If it wasn't for the emergency beacon they would have been too late.

It had also been good luck that Kage was out that night. The underground hero typically kept his patrols to Musutafu but like many were reassigned for unknown reasons. The entire community knew something was happening but so far no one knew exactly what it was. That made them nervous.

What confused him was that the window was open. Who would leave a window open in a hospital? At night? During winter?!

Then he saw the blanket and remembered who made the emergency beacon. Kaze wouldn't come all this way to check on Hawks. Would he? Carefully Tsunagu closed the window now questioning how much he actually knew about the vigilante.
