Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the next chapter of this Smashin' story! I'm glad to hear that everyone loves the story by far, but this is just the beginning, and we're moving on next with the first member of the DK crew, Donkey Kong!

Anyways, originally, I was going to write a portion taken from the classic Donkey Kong Country game on the SNES, but later I remembered Donkey Kong 64, and that's when I decided what this chapter will be about! Kris will travel to that game's world and he'll hang out with DK with a jungle adventure of fun!

It's possible that Diddy Kong will show up as well, but read and find out about his appearance! He'll have his own chapter too, but that'll be for later, and...it's a unique game with a special cameo appearance featuring a certain bear.

Anyways, for now, enjoy this chapter with a monkey adventure Kris can't forget this time! Also, one more thing, just for clarification, Kris is a character based on me, not like the character from Deltarune, or the gen 2 Pokemon character. He's all original and similar to the character who I created for Life of Ash and Serena. The bio for this character will show up on the profile page, so please look out for it if you're interested. The character himself is different as well from the counterpart in Life of Ash and Serena.

With all of that out of the way, let's begin on the next chapter! Enjoy!

Chapter 2: King of the Jungle

December 16, 2018

It's been a little over a week since Kris got Smash Ultimate and he's been playing it a lot. He did happen to have some exams within the past week for college, but he's been taking his time to study and finished them as well, so he could have all the time with the game. By doing so, he's able to make his accomplishments by passing all of his classes at As and Bs. But now, it's winter break from his college semester, and he's ready to play some games!

We see the young adult in his room like usual playing the game as he finishes up playing Classic Mode on Captain Falcon's route.

"Yes! 9.9 intensity reached!" Kris said excitedly, raising his fist up in the air. "Seems a little easy for an F-Zero fighter, even though this route doesn't make a lot of references to the series, just close ranged fighters like Falcon."

After playing through the credits minigame, Kris is awaiting which fighter he unlocks next. Upon hearing that alarm sound, Kris notices the familiar shadow on his TV Screen.

"Falco...my favorite character from Star Fox." Kris said as he proceeded to challenge him.

The fight was a little difficult, but he managed to unlock the cocky pilot from space. "Nice! I got him!"

Kris takes a look at the roster screen and notices how many characters have been unlocked. It's quite a large amount to him so far.

"Man...I unlocked a lot of fighters around since I got the game. Not all of them have been unlocked just yet, but soon, they'll all be here." Kris said in amazement.

He puts his controller down on the desk near him, next to his laptop and proceeds to lay down for a bit. "Man, I could use a break from this. I've been playing for 3 hours already."

"How about traveling to a new world?" A deep voice called.

Kris opens his eyes up in surprise from laying down on his Pokemon bed, in shock to see Master Hand in his room. "AH! MAster Hand, you're here!"

"Yes, it's been a week since you've traveled to Mario's world, so how about you take the time to travel to the next fighter's world?" MAster Hand asked.

"Hmmm...that would be exciting, although I was going to rest for a bit." Kris answered.

"So, go on and get out into the video game world. A little adventure with another fighter wouldn't hurt. I'm still here being called on by you." Master Hand advised.

"You're right, I am up for an adventure. So who's next on the roster?" Kris asks before he turns to his TV screen and notices Donkey Kong is after Mario. "Donkey Kong is next…send me to a world of Donkey Kong!"

"Sure! Please insert a game onto the machine and we'll send you to that game's world!" Master Hand said. "Also…" The hand snaps his fingers together as Kris notices some changes made to the machine next to his desk.

"What's this?" Kris notices the weird hole openings on the machine.

"The machine is enhanced with different slots of cartridges or CDs that you can slide in. From retro to modern, slots are all around for you to slide a game in! Just insert a game into the correct slot and a portal opens up to that game world!" Master Hand explained the various slots on the machine.

"Oh, cool! Now, let me see what game fits best…" Kris said as he looked over his shelf of various games. "Hmm...Donkey Kong Country, could go with that one...Wait!" Kris looks over to the Nintendo 64 collection of games. "Ah, here we go! Donkey Kong 64! That's a better game! I remember that my dad gave me this from his original N64 that he had as a teenager."

Kris opens the game box and takes out the cartridge inside. "Nice, and still in good condition after all these years." He walks over to the machine and inserts the game into the correct slot in the machine which is the N64 slot.

After that, a portal opens up in front of Kris' eyes as the game is inserted inside.

"GAME: DONKEY KONG 64. LOCATION: DONKEY KONG ISLAND." Said the robotic voice coming from the machine.

"Oh, and before you leave, check your iSmash." Master Hand said.

Kris takes out his new phone from his pocket and notices a new update applied into the phone.

"We updated your phone last night to add in a translator app. Many of our fighters speak in their own language, like DK. Many Pokemon as well have their own language, except Lucario as well, so please keep that in mind." Master Hand explained.

"Oh, thanks! Well, I'll be off with an adventure with Donkey Kong! See ya!" Kris said farewell to the hand as he walked straight into the portal and ended up at Donkey Kong's world.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time - Time Hole (To Past)

Sending Kris to...Donkey Kong Island (Donkey Kong 64)

Destination Complete!

Within 10 seconds, Kris is able to safely travel to Donkey Kong's world. He's in the game, "Donkey Kong 64."

As he's released from the portal, he walks out carefully and closes the portal with the touch of a button from his iSmash. "Okay, here I am! The second video game world in Smash, the DK Universe!"

Kris gazes upon the world around him, lush tall trees, orange sunset, a large flowing river across the land. It's surely a jungle that he landed in. One con for being in DK's world though is the humidity. Kris's body is feeling a bit warm for being in a jungle, of course.

"Whew, it's a bit hot here, that's for sure." Kris said as he wiped his head. "Now, if I were to find DK, I bet he would be in his house.

Kris walks for a few minutes looking around DK Island as he goes, and to describe it in his own words, all he can say is that it's certainly a change from being in a large city, and now in a wild jungle filled with some heat and some animals around the island. At least it'll be a nice change whenever he travels to the kingdom of Hyrule after this experience with DK.

After a bit of time walking down through the jungle, Kris finally found what he's looking for: DK's home. A large hut supported by tall feet in the middle of the island with the entrance open and clear as if anyone can walk in easily and rob the place.

"There it is. I wonder if he's home?" Kris walks closer to the hut and hears a song playing from the hut.

Disclaimer: I don't own this song! All rights go to the respective owners!

Donkey Kong 64 - DK Rap

"Here, Here, Here we go! So, they're finally here, performing for you! If you know the words, you can join in too!"

"I know this song!" Kris said, with the tune inserted inside of his head for its catchy rhythm. "This is the game's main theme! I love this song!"

"Put your hands together, if you want to clap! As we take you through this monkey rap! Huh! DK! Donkey Kong!"

"Man, me and dad love this song. I used to dance to it when I was younger and he would sing it." Kris chuckled. "If I remember, this song also got remixed in Melee as well. That was surely a good enough song to get a smash remix, for sure."

"He's the leader of the bunch, you know him well. He's finally back to kick some tail! His coconut gun can fire in spurts! If he shoots ya, it's gonna hurt! He's bigger, faster, and stronger too! He's the first member of the DK Crew! Huh! DK! Donkey Kong! DK! Donkey Kong is here!"

Kris sings and dances to the song for the next few minutes until it finishes up. He's not a good dancer, so he dances in strange ways, and likes to keep it to himself so that his friends from high school wouldn't embarrass him. Even for the likes if he dates someone. Luckily, he's alone out in the wild jungle, and there's not very many animals around the area, so this is definitely one of his moments in his last year as a teenager.

"Alright, that was fun, honestly. Now, time to meet DK." Kris said as he approached some ladders leading up to the entrance of DK's hut.

Kris finally climbs up to DK's hut and from the entrance, he can see the big, brown ape resting in his home with the radio continuing to play the DK Rap. The young adult steps to the side and pulls out his iSmash to scan Donkey Kong in order to gain info to fill onto the SmashDex.

After scanning, the information on his phone reads this:

Fighter #2: Donkey Kong

Debut: Donkey Kong (Arcade, 1981)

Modern Appearance Debut: Donkey Kong Country (SNES, 1994)

Species: Kong (Male)

Origin of Home: Donkey Kong Island

Fighter Spirit Image #124, Sourced from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U, 2014)

"Donkey Kong, the King of the Jungle, and the second fighter to join the Super Smash Bros. series. Donkey Kong is the leader of his known species, the Kong family. Donkey Kong is known to be a heavyweight, and can carry various objects with ease. He later joined the Smash roster after Mario joined in as the first fighter."

"I know that's the modern DK. The classic one has to be his grandfather, but I'm sure he's probably on good terms with Mario with all the spin-off games he's shown in." Kris whispered to himself.

A minute later, Kris walks in and knocks softly on the wood inside of his home. "Hello? Is anybody home?"

That question woke DK from his sleep, and he looked around his surroundings of what's going on. Front and center, he sees Kris standing right in front of him.

Donkey Kong makes a bunch of monkey noises which Kris couldn't understand a word of what he's saying. This is where the translator app in his iSmash comes in handy.

"Ah! Who are you?! I was just napping in here earlier!"

"Hey, sorry to wake up and bother you, but are you Donkey Kong?" Kris asked the gorilla.

Donkey Kong answers with a bunch of grunts and grumbles which the iSmash picks up the monkey language. "That depends. You're not one of K. Rool's allies, are you?"

"Uh, no, sir. I'm from another world, I actually hail from Mario's world. My name is Kris, and I traveled here from New Donk City over at the Mushroom Kingdom."

Donkey Kong gets a little surprised hearing Mario's name and utters more in his monkey language with Kris' phone picking up the words. "Mario?! You're one of Mario's friends?"

"Um, Now that depends! Are you going to punch me in the sky?" Kris asked, with a bit of scareness inside of him. Kris' phone picks up more of the language DK is speaking out towards. To his surprise though, DK didn't sound too angry, rather somewhat happy.

"Punch you? No, I'm surprised that someone mentioned my good old buddy Mario! How's he doing?"

Kris felt relieved that he wouldn't have to be punched by a giant monkey like DK. He knows very well that he's not only King of the Jungle, but apparently, King of Meteor Smashes whenever he jumps into the fighting scene. "Oh, well, Mario's doing fine! He's actually becoming excited though. His wedding with Peach is happening very soon!"

DK lets out cheers of excitement which the iSmash picks up while Kris laughs shyly at the monkey's excitement. "Woah! Happy for him! I might attend the wedding, although I haven't received an invitation yet. Kong Island is quite far from the Mushroom Kingdom, so it'll take time for us to arrive for the wedding."

"So, wait, you're not mad at Mario?" Kris asked.

"Not really, he and I are good buddies. The person who hates him the most is my grandfather, Cranky Kong. That old koot is always bugging him, stealing his ex-girlfriend. Nowadays, he's just at the top of his hut listening to his old radio." The iSmash translated.

'I'm guessing he has some sort of weird problem with Pauline…' Kris wondered.

Just as the conversation is still being active between the two, an interruption occurs. A large squawking noise is being heard flying into DK's window. Kris turns his head around to notice a green parrot flying inside of the hut. The young adult continues to turn on the translator app to witness the conversation between the parrot and DK.

"DK! DK! Come quickly! They're gone! Everyone's gone! Squawk!"

"What?! My family?! Even Diddy?!"

DK runs and hops out of the hut with Kris following him about what's going on.

Outside, the green parrot named Squwaks awaits DK and KRis to tell the news. "Bweek! DK! Your precious banana hoard and the other Kongs have gone missing! Squawk! I can't find them anywhere on the island! DK, you must find them and rescue them! Tell Cranky the bad news!"

"Oh no! My family needs me! Even Diddy! He's my best buddy!"

Kris speaks up knowing this is the best opportunity to hang out with DK. Another adventure, like how he hung out with MArio at New Donk City. "Hey! If you don't mind, I would like to go with you."

Upon hearing that, DK and Squawks give out a laugh of their own time. "No offense, kid, but this is monkey business. I don't even think you're normal enough to even use any items I'll bring into this adventure."

"But, come on! I may not be a Kong, but I do anything to help out around here! That includes saving your friends! Can't I go on an adventure with you?" Kris begged the gorilla.

DK thought about it for a moment until he made a decision which the iSmash translates the language being spoken. "Well...I do need a partner at my side, and with Diddy missing, there's nobody else except for you. Diddy always helps me out on our adventures together and takes down King K. Rool. But I guess help won't hurt as much as anyone."

"Yes!" Kris cheered hearing the agreement from DK.

"But you need to stand behind me in case anything happens, and listen to what I say! If we're going to find Diddy, you must help me out as much as he does knowing he's my best partner!"

"Got it!" Kris said, raising his fist up.

Both DK and Kris leave the hut with the monkey jumping off into the ground, and the young adult climbing down the ladder. The two walk over nearby Cranky's lab being a giant barrel but only some feet away from DK's hut.

Cranky's Lab

It was dark inside the lab, which Kris can somewhat see, but the electrical lights flashing around does help a bit with Kris' vision inside of the lab and notices a monkey similar looking to DK, but much older and wears contacts on his face.

"Well, well, if it isn't my slothy, good-for-nothing son. Lost your precious golden banana hoard again? And I see you brought company with you. Who's this young man?"

DK turns around and introduces Kris to his Cranky. "This is Kris. He hails from the Mushroom Kingdom, apparently, and is friends with Mario."

Cranky's eyes widened, he never thought he would hear that name again since his younger years. "MARIO?! That plumber who's always trying to catch that Pauline! I wanted my hands on her for years, and he always thwarts my plans!"

"Um, excuse me, sir, but I don't even know if you still want to be with Pauline now. I mean, Mario and her had a good few years dating each other before breaking up. He's with Peach now. Their wedding is coming up soon." Kris explained a few things to the old Kong.

"You shut your old mouth up, you simpleton! I don't trust any good friends with Mario! I never even trusted you that much, son! I've always said that Mario's evil, and he is!" Cranky said in anger.

"Wow, you're a mean, old monkey, aren't you?" Kris asked. Given seeing the old Kong in the games, Kris would have figured that he would have his ass kicked by the Kong. Better yet, he dared himself for some sort of punishment to happen upon asking that question.

The next thing happening is that Cranky pulls out his dentures and tosses them straight at Kris, which he had a groaning reaction to it. "Ew! That hurts! That's really gross, Cranky!"

Cranky goes over and grabs his dentures and puts them back in his mouth. "That'll teach you a lesson just for calling me that, son!" Cranky goes back to his desk continuing to talk to DK. "Now, as I was saying, you don't even know where all your friends are at, do you? I would have thought you would be able to smell the work of a big, fat, and oversized reptile by now! Lucky for you, Cranky's batch of homemade potions are in store for use! They will give you all the skills needed for a silly 3D quest. But you can't have any until you've completed my training barrels. Now buzz off and don't come back here until you've completed them all!"

Both Kris and DK walk out of the lab and notice right in front of them, 4 spinning barrels circling a tree. "What did Cranky mean about training? Monkey all confused…"

Kris looks at the barrels and remembers what he had to do within the game, which he explains to DK about this portion of the game. "Hmmm…maybe try hitting those barrels. They'll probably do something."

DK went ahead and shrugged his shoulders at the young adult and went ahead to proceed to jump into a barrel, with Kris following so.

Inside the first barrel all the way to the left, DK and Kris were sent to the first obstacle course which is filled with a ton of water. Kris also hears of a countdown timer somewhere near their presence which he remembers of how long this course would take. "DK! We need to move fast throughout all of these obstacle courses! Cranky only gave us a minute to complete each of them!"

"What?! That old coot…always so strict." DK grumbled. "I'm still confused about what's going on, though."

"Just follow me, ok? I think I know what's happening here." Kris said as he began to breathe underwater, which made his clothes wet. In addition, his iSmash is covered by the wetness, but it really doesn't matter all that much since a convenient feature of the phone is how waterproof it is, so no damage is harmed within the device.

With the two underwater, Kris couldn't speak well but instead points a finger at a single coin underwater for DK to collect, which he thinks in his head that it's too simple of a task for Cranky to assign him to. The monkey collects the coin within the span of 15 seconds. Once that happens, he and Kris are transported out of the barrel and they move onto the next one.

The next challenge inside of the barrel has the two transported to an area with a single lonely tree being surrounded by a bunch of oranges around. "Ah, the portion of tasty oranges. DK, we have to collect those oranges and must learn how to toss them!"

DK gives a thumbs up to the college gamer as they proceed to grab all of the oranges together. After collecting them, they throw the oranges right at the tree as the orange splatters all around the bark and gets covered by orange juice. DK proceeds to lick the orange juice off the bark. "Tasty!"

Once that portion of training is completed, Kris and DK move onto the next barrel. The next barrel transports them to an area just the same as the previous one, but instead, has barrels around the tree instead of oranges.

Kris didn't even need to explain this part with DK given that he has done this before during his adventure in Donkey Kong Country. DK turns over to Kris and asks him about this portion. "Let me guess, pick up the barrels and throw them? I think I've done this before…"

Kris nods his head as his answer, and the two go ahead to pick up the barrels and toss them at the tree. "Wow, these barrels are a little heavy to pick up, and they don't even have anything inside of them."

"I remember freeing my friend Diddy from those barrels, and we teamed up together throughout the island to take down K. Rool since he stole my bananas, but with him missing, I oughta give my big punches to that fatass crocodile!" DK said, clenching his fists.

"Maybe use that anger on those barrels to practice? We got 40 seconds left in this area." Kris warned.

"Oh, right." DK goes ahead and picks up each of the barrels around which doesn't give him anything new to learn since he has done this before. Kris groaned and was barely able to toss a single barrel, and it was a weak throw as well. It didn't make a big impact on the tree. DK does this easier given his class being a heavyweight.

With only 30 seconds left within the clock, both Kris and DK managed to complete the 3rd training area, with only 1 more left to cover.

Heading towards the final barrel, both DK and Kris notice it sparkling purple. "You know, I'm not really sure why this one is sparkling purple. Maybe because it's a special one?"

DK shrugged his shoulders together and the two proceeded into the final barrel of training. In this area, a large coin which has the symbol of "DK" shown there, is located high up in the sky along with some ropes on propellers leading to the coin. DK was about to climb up, but Kris stopped him. "No, hold on, let me try this. I'm proving to become an unofficial Kong myself."

Kris hops onto the tree bark and climbs up to the top. His next step was the ropes, so he jumps up and grabs a hold of the rope. Kris looks down below to see how high he is from the ground. He gives out quite a gulp. His parents wouldn't want to know the danger he's in, especially if they find out he can travel to all the game worlds. But then, he decides to move that scary bit off of himself, given that he remembered he used Mario's cape flying all around New Donk City, so maybe this would give him some courage, even if he's not using a power-up.

Kris takes a leap of faith to grab onto the next rope, barely able to grab. He swings back and forth on this rope until he gets the timing right, and right so, as he was able to grab the final rope. All that's left is the coin right in front of him. Can Kris do it, and prove himself worthy of acting like a Kong?

"Here goes nothing…" Kris closes his eyes, swings the rope back and forth as best as he could, and just like that with a large grunt noise…did he make it?

THUMP!

"OW! My head…" Kris groaned, as he got up off the ground and rubs his head with his hand. He almost was in reach of it, turns out his hand was a few inches off from the DK coin. Sometimes now, he just needs to think about his own hitbox within each game he's in.

The young adult then hears the ticking noise still active and sees that there's 30 seconds left on the clock with the tutorial area. He looks over and notices DK climbing up the tree and grabbing onto each of the ropes with accurate swings to make, like any monkey would. With only 5 seconds left, DK was able to grab the last coin.

"Ah! Thanks, DK! Guess there's still more to go on an adventure with you." Kris shyly laughed while still rubbing the sore spot on his head.

DK gives Kris a pat on the back for some effort at the least for helping out. The two were then transported out of the barrel, now with success of completing all 4 barrels. Squawks appear in front of the two with some words. "Hurry! Grab that potion from Cranky and get going on your journey!"

The two walk back over to Cranky's lab to greet him again. "Hmph. You took your sweet time, did you, DK? I bet your partner there did such a miserable job of collecting those coins there. Here, drink this."

DK drinks the potion which is called "Simian Slam" and drinks about half of it before giving it to Kris.

"Oh, thanks, DK. I wonder how this tastes." Kris drinks down the remaining liquid left in the potion as it drops into empty. Once he drinks it all, Kris gives a shudder as a response to how the potion tasted. It was a bitter taste that he never tasted before, and he might not want to taste it again. Video Game drinks may be some of the weirdest things he'll shove down his throat.

"Man, that is quite a potion." Kris then suddenly feels a surge of power heading straight inside of him. Seems to be like as he gains a new power-up of his.

"Right. So you and your missing buddies will have the ability to slam the ground while up in the air. That should help out of this area and into adventure." Cranky explaining the effects of the potion.

"Ah, just like MArio since the early days of his 3D adventures." Kris said. What Kris should have remembered is to keep his mouth shut when mentioning the plumber's name in front of Cranky, because the old Kong throws his dentures again straight at the young adult.

"OW! That's still gross…" Kris groaned as he wiped the wetness of the dentures off of his face.

"What did I say about that damn plumber?!" Cranky asked angrily.

"That he's mean and evil…" Kris grumbled.

"Remember that! And don't mention his name in front of me again, you hear me?!"

"Got it…"

"Oh, and one more thing. This is a real treat to help out, but I can only give it to you if you and your lazy partner can grab me 15 banana medals. They're medals that look similar to the DK coins, however, it's a ring with a banana symbol in the middle. Keep your eyes peeled for them and bring them back to me, and I'll even consider your partner lucky, if he can do a respectable job this time." Cranky explained.

"Hey! I can be worthy enough! I may have failed to get that last coin, but I can be sure of myself to grab those medals!" KRis said, triggered by how unfaithful he is to Cranky.

"Then you and DK grab each of those medals! If you can at least grab 5 medals, I'll consider you worthy of helping DK during this adventure. Got it?" Cranky instructed.

"Yes, sir!"

"Good, now get outta here. And don't come back until you have every medal!"

KRis and DK walk out of the lab and think of an idea to find the medals. "Hm…I'm not sure if they can be found easily within this area. Honestly, this just seems small, so I wouldn't find much here."

Kris and DK walk around and see if there's anything around that they missed. Kris searched high and low for a hidden spot, but luck came to him as he found something high up near the waterfall.

"DK! Look, up there!" Kris points to a hidden area near the waterfall. The waterfall also seems like it's hiding something behind there, likely a cave, but before that, another small obstacle awaits the two.

"DK, you go first, I'll follow." DK grabs a hold onto the palm tree and climbs up to the top where he can easily see the waterfall, and the cave behind there. Kris follows suit with the monkey and climbs up the tree with a bit of difficulty shown given that it's a big tree.

Once the two were up, they needed to decide who goes first, noticing the cave in front of them, but behind the waterfall. "Hmmm….you know, I need to make a redemption on that last tutorial area. I'll go first and swing through the cave."

Kris makes a leap onto the first flower swing and swings himself over to the next one. After that, he timed himself to jump onto the next one with some success, but of course there's the last one. Again, Kris makes the jump to the last flower swing, but now he has to make the jump into the cave.

Kris looks below him and notices how high he's from while holding onto the swing, and it's a similar high drop compared to the tutorial area. But the young adult knows he has to do this. It's his chance to make sure he has skills like any Kong would. But without any more stalling, Kris swings back and forth to make the perfect timing to land into the cave. 10 seconds later, he makes the leap, and did he do it?

"Yaah!"

A sound was made with both his shoes and the ground making contact with each other. Kris has achieved reaching into the cave without making too much trouble for himself. "Yes! I did it! I made it! I didn't think this would be more tougher than having to fly into New Donk City with MArio's cape."

DK makes it forward to the cave with no problem on the swings while being an experienced Kong for many years. Once he makes it into the cave with Kris, he makes an applauded noise to congratulate him, but now the cave is what lies in front of them now they are inside. The cave looks to be dark, but torches around help make the cave light up for some people to see inside.

"Woah. This looks darker than I expected. It's like a tunnel here, and I'm a little amazed by it." Kris said taking some careful steps into the cave.

Both Kris and DK walk in together with the adult asking him a question in mind. "So, DK, have you ever heard of the Tournament, 'Super Smash Bros.'?

DK looks toward the adult and answers his question with his language. Kris' phone picks up the language through the translator as he checks his response. "Oh, that! I've heard of it for a long time. The 64 tournament was my very first one and I even faced Mario, actually. Despite our times together where he faced me and also Cranky, he's still a good friend of mine."

"Well, what about your best buddy, Diddy Kong? Didn't he join you in the Brawl tournament?" Kris asked.

"Well, yes, I'm actually happy seeing him participating, though I feel bad for Dixie not coming along. Diddy said he was bringing her along, but apparently some Smash officials said it was illegal to bring her along since we told them about their team tag switch, yet they brought along Ice Climbers for the fight."

"Huh. I thought they banned them during the 4th tournament since they were doing illegal fighting, but apparently they're bringing them back for the Ultimate tournament." Kris said.

"Questionable. I just hope they don't bring in my arch nemesis, K. Rool. If they do so, that crocodile's getting bruised by every single one of my punches!"

"Um…well, funny you should say that, but…" Kris leans down and whispers to DK's ear.

"WHAT?! He's coming into the tournament?! Since when did they give him the letter?"

"Yeah, he might even come by your house and defeat you, or at least a self-made penguin king making the shadows of him." Kris said.

"Grrrr…K. Rool, prepare for your ass to get whooped on the battlefield. Maybe you're the one who took my friends! You're just the worst."

After that conversation of the tournament ended, DK and Kris walk upon an empty room that's filled with peeled bananas around the ground along with some brown thing in the middle of the room.

The two question themselves for a moment until DK lights up an idea in his mind. "Oh! I know! Let me try this. Simple enough like how Mario does it in his adventures." DK walks over to the brown spot in the middle of the room and ground pounds against it. Unfortunately, nothing happens to the brown spot. "Well, that didn't work."

Kris looks around the room to take anything of notice but it doesn't seem to be anything to catch his interest to progress through. "Let's come back here later. This room might be useful at a later time."

DK nodded and followed Kris as they headed out of the cave and jumped back into normal ground. "Well, I did that all for nothing." Kris grumbled in his head.

DK and Kris walked around through the land to see what else there was. Nearby, the two find another cave, this time not on higher grounds, but on the lower level instead.

"DK, I found another cave here. From the looks of it, it's very spooky." Kris pointed.

DK looks at the cave in wonder, but it did seem reminiscent of his grandfather's lab knowing how dark it is. He decided to proceed on through inside if it helps for his quest. Kris follows the ape inside, but by lord from the looks that he's seeing inside, it was surely dark for him to traverse through. There are some torches inside emitting blue lights hollowed throughout. The two walk through the cave inside, and as they walk by, Kris notices some spider webs on the side. His eyes widen and his body lets out a sign of nervousness hoping that he wouldn't see a skeleton near the end of this dark path.

But his fears were let down, as he and DK reached towards the end of the cave to see a big button on the ground along with a blocked cage with a bright light seeming to indicate the outside world. DK proceeds to ground pound the button and once that happens, the gate opens up and an entrance has been unlocked for both DK and Kris.

"Awesome! Now we can proceed!" Kris cheered.

"Wait, hold on. There's something to do first before moving on." DK said as he walked out of the cave. Kris follows the monkey without any questioning of DK's intentions.

Once they were out of the cave, DK walks nearby to another cave which holds to be just as dark like the previous cave they were in a minute ago, and while Kris followed him into the next cave, he still felt some nervousness inside of his body seeing how dark it looks, like the previous cave.

Inside, the cave has less spider webs around but it was still as dark as the other cave which frightens Kris, but it didn't take as long to see that at the end of the road inside, the two find some medals to collect which DK holds onto for Cranky. Kris smiles knowing that one part of their beginning mission has been working out so far. His smile didn't last for long however, as some bats from above were attempting to hit the two.

"Ah! Bats! Really?!" Kris yelled, getting annoyed by the bats' presence.

"Let's just run out of here! They'll leave us alone!"

"Agreed! Right behind you!" Kris said as he and DK ran out of the cave fleeing away from the annoying bats inside.

Once they were out of the cave, Kris asked DK's leadership, "So, now, what's next?"

DK leads Kris back into the cave from earlier with all the spider webs where they accomplished by bringing up the locked gate. "So, we're ready to go into the outside world to save your friend, Diddy?"

DK nods, gives a happy look on his face, and a thumbs-up to the college gamer. "Alright, then, let's-a-go!"

Both Kris and DK walk into the bright light which leads them into the outside world looking like a beach as the first level. Once they walked onto the sand, the two were greeted by Squawks again with a bit of information to share.

"Squawk! He's back, DK! King K. Rool is back to cause terror once more! His island is just over there across the sea where his lair resides. He must be the one who stole your banana hoard and kidnapped your friends! I've taken a look around the area, but the only part that isn't blocked off is the island with a cave on it over there! Bawrk!"

After that piece of information, the parrot leaves it to both DK and Kris looking around. They saw nearby the cave as Squawks mentioned, filled with a very green layer all around and an open entrance to walk through inside.

"So you're ready to begin this adventure?" Kris asked the ape.

"Oh, yeah! I figured that K. Rool has something to do with this! First he steals my bananas, then he takes my family, and now he gets invited to the next Smash tournament! I'll make sure he'll never join in the fight!"

"Um…well…"

"What are we waiting for? Let's get my friend back!" DK jumps into the water and swims to the island with the cave.

"Oh, man, he's so eager to rescue Diddy. I have some time for myself until it's his turn to meet him from this wish of mine." Kris sighed as he jumped into the water as well and followed DK to the island.

Both of them arrive at the island while Kris' clothes end up becoming wet again, and they head inside noticing how dark it is like the previous caves from before. Once inside, out of nowhere, the two walk in and slip sliding down to the main floor of the cave. From there, they meet a gigantic crocodile which Kris notices looking similar to King K. Rool, except it's being locked up in a cage with a lock numbered 6.

"Boo Hoo Hoo." The crocodile whimpers. He then notices both DK and Kris in front of his cage. "Oh, hi. My name's K. Lumsy. I've been locked up in here because I'm not able to blow up one single stupid island! But how could I? It's such a silly island filled with cute monkeys! You know, like you here."

K. Lumsy sniffs talking about his own failure. "So I said no to him, my brother. He cussed at me, and screamed loud at my face. He said that I'm too soft to even be a part of his army." K. Lumsy sniffs another time with his eyes getting a little teary. "K. Rool locked me in here until he's sure enough to know that I'm tough to battle enemies of his. I'll do anything to be free on my own."

K. Lumsy was feeling desperate to have freedom, especially from the way K. Rool was speaking to him before the takeover was made.

"Man, I remember this part. I feel bad for this crocodile. Way more softer than K. Rool, guess that's why he's not in Smash." Kris thought.

K. Lumsy looks over to the two and continues speaking to them. "Hey, Little Monkey and a human? Perhaps maybe you can help poor old K. Lumsy escape from this rusty cage? Oh, please, I'll be your bestest friend!"

DK thinks for a moment knowing that this crocodile is related to K. Rool. He never met this crocodile throughout the past adventures with Diddy, so he's unsure whether to trust him or not, given his desperate need for freedom. All he could think was that it would end badly in a betrayal, and his island would be blown up. All of his friends were captured…forever.

"Hey, DK. Maybe we should help this guy out. He does need help for attention, and he actually cares about people like you. I mean, he's caged up here for a reason. The only person in K. Rool's army who has a heart with your family. Let's help him out." Kris spoke up for the giant crocodile.

DK thinks about it for another moment until he speaks up on his decision. "Yes, Donkey will help you out!"

K. Lumsy reacts with wide eyes on his face and starts to get excited all around his cage with a few large rumbles acting up around the cave. Kris notices the pebbles falling down the roof of the cave and protects himself from getting bruised by one of the pebbles landing on his face.

Outside of the cave, nearby, another cave reacts to the rumbling noises of K. Lumsy, and eventually, a part of it blows up revealing a portion of it showing a banana inside.

Back inside, K. Lumsy stops his stomps of excitement and shows gratitude to both Kris and DK. "Oh, K. Lumsy is so happy now! But one thing…my brother has taken the keys of this cage and given them to the biggest and most feared soldiers in his army. If you grab a hold for my keys, please bring them back here to open the locks. Don't tell my brother, though. We're gonna have to keep this a secret, or else, he'll kill me on your island!"

Both Kris and DK look at each other and nod, agreeing on doing the quest together to save K. Lumsy for his freedom. They head out of the cave and step on the "1" platform sending them back to the main island that the two were at before.

DK runs to the left and notices an area that seems to be recently blown up showing a single banana inside. He walks inside and notices it leads to an area. Kris also follows and counts the number in his head of how many dark caves he walks into so far during the Kong adventure.

Inside of the cave, there are doors with a question mark around lighting up the area. DK and Kris walk around the area until a talking door calls upon the both of them. "Hey, over here! You dumbass monkey and fool of a human! I'm the mighty B. Locker and don't even think for a minute to come in here without showing me some of your stupid ass golden bananas. If I disobey my job that King K. Rool assigned me, it's the big sawmill in the sky for me, so pay up pronto, and I can get my wooden ass outta here!"

"Wow, that's the most aggressive talking door I've ever heard in my life. I'm no joke, just because I'm some sort of nerd who happens to play much of his time with games outside of college courses and annoying high school classes in the past." Kris thought, feeling a bit annoyed by the words Locker said to him.

"Kris, look out!" DK exclaimed, pushing Kris out of the way as an enemy approached him. DK punches a blue looking mouse to death as it vanishes upon death. Upon killing it, the mouse leaves something on the ground for DK to pick up.

"Whew, thanks DK. Didn't want that thing to bite me, or rip my head off." Kris said, wiping his forehead.

DK gives a thumbs up to Kris in response as the two move on looking around the area. The two walk over to a door that has a monkey's face with a gray appearance. When the two open the door, a spiritual monkey pops out of the door, which surprises Kris in shock as he falls down to the ground and sits there scared seeing a…ghost?

"Young ones, it's only me, Wrinkly Kong. My body may have passed away since 'Donkey Kong Country 3, Super Nintendo classic'. But I'm here in spirit to help you defeat those naughty crocodiles that are pestering you! I can use my supernatural powers to show you and your friends where that rogue K. Rool has hidden some of your precious golden bananas. You can come and see me wherever you see my wrinkly face. Don't be shy now, dearies." Wrinkly Kong then closes the door, leaving Kris a bit terrified of himself.

"Woah, I've never seen such a ghost in person in my life. I think she looks terrifying!" Kris exclaimed.

"Eh, don't worry about her. That's just Wrinkly. She's still a kind and helpful Kong in the family. But she will be missed from the previous adventure with Diddy with her long life passed away." DK assured the young adult.

"At least she's still kind as you said. Not the worst member of the entire Kong family." Kris said.

DK laughed at that little remark of Kris. The two then walk over to the aggressive talking door, with DK holding an item for the door. "Come on, I don't got all day! Show me the frickin' bananas and I'm outta of this shit hole!"

DK proceeds giving the door the banana and it fades away turning into a portal of some sort which both DK and Kris hop in with wonders where they would take them next.

Meanwhile…

Over at Crocodile Isle, there lies the king of all crocodiles sitting at his throne, now thinking of wonder with what DK's been up to. This crocodile's known as King K. Rool, DK's longtime arch nemesis, and hoarder of many of DK's precious bananas. "Heh. Let's check and see what that stupid ass fool of a monkey, DK has been up to lately, now that I captured his closest friends."

K. Rool taps a button on his remote and the screen in front of him shows the progression of the heroic Kong, alongside a human beside him. "Huh? Who the hell is that? I don't recognize that person. Well, if that person is beside DK, then he shall be ready to taste death with my laser! HA HA HA!"

The screen then shows DK reaching for the banana, but was unable to do so. "Ha ha ha! That's right, my scary friend. The stupid ass ape hasn't even got his first banana yet. Get a shit load of this!"

But then, afterwards, the screen reveals DK acquiring the banana on his own while Kris cheered for him. K. Rool gives a surprised look on his face upon seeing that. "W-WHAT?! HOW IN THE HELL DID HE MANAGE TO DO THAT?!" The heavyweight crocodile repeatedly opens and closes his claws together while calming himself down still with thought of his plan going in motion like usual. "Very good, Donkey. But you'll need more brute strength to stop me this time!"

K. Rool then takes out something of his own inventory and in his claw hands, holds what looks to be an envelope with a red stamp marked on it. "And I can beat your ass on the battlefield soon as well…HA HA HA!"

Jungle Japes

From stepping on the portal, both DK and Kris were summoned to the level known as Jungle Japes. Of course, in Kris' mind, he recognizes this level himself.

"Jungle Japes. This was in Melee, that stage with the cabin and the annoying flowing river below." Kris thought.

Just a moment later, Squawks flies below to both Kris and DK. "DK and Kris, gather as many bananas as you can before going through one of these portals. I'm counting on you both!" The parrot flies away with hope for both of the heroes.

The two look upon ahead of them seeing as what they would be up against. One big, huge obstacle course is what Kris has in mind.

Squawks flies down to the two, for something else. "Oh! One more thing! Collect 75 or more bananas, DK, and you'll get a banana medal!" Squawks flies away once more leaving the journey up to Kris and DK.

Only a moment has passed until Kris speaks up to DK. "So…the adventure truly begins here, doesn't it? Very first level, and I feel a bit nervous and excited for this."

DK gives a pat on the back to Kris, and gives him a thumbs up to let down his worries. Kris then looks at the monkey, and gives a warming smile to ensure that he's ready to go through this jungle and train himself as a Kong. "You're right. Let's do this, DK! Let's save your buddy!"

DK gets pumped up as he bangs his chest with his hands and the two begin their adventure, on their way to save Diddy.

10 minutes later…

It has been some time since Kris and DK started roaming around Jungle Japes collecting all of the bananas, but once they reached the goal of 75 or more bananas, they received the medal. Very rewarding for Kris, as he said.

But throughout this time of their adventure, they also beat up enemies, went swimming underwater, climbed up trees, and even entered a battle arena as they pretty much tag teamed against K. Rool's minions and Kris was surely feeling he definitely has the abilities of being a Kong.

But of course, the true test (at least for now for Kris) is that they found DK's buddy, Diddy Kong trapped behind bars. Together, the two must free him by making some incredible shots to the targets above his jail cell, and the two reach upon new heights making those shots. DK already took care with the first two, but it was up to Kris for the last one to give him a chance to prove himself worthy of venturing through the Kong world.

"Ok, Kris, getting this last shot is simple enough. This button is on top of the gate at the river, and you must climb up to reach it. Got it? Here's my coconut gun. Be careful up there!" DK said, lending Kris his primary usual weapon.

"Got it! Don't worry, DK! Your friend shall be freed!"

Kris runs and jumps into the water swimming to another part of the area. As he got out, he felt a little chill from the river water temperature. Next, with a little bothered by the river, he climbs up the tree nice and steady, but what's keeping him a little delayed is with the minor cuts on his hand as he climbs up the tall tree reaching to the top part of the land.

From there, Kris looks ahead and notices the target above the river cage. He walks closer to get a good shot of the target, but also makes sure that he doesn't get too close, otherwise he falls down to the river. He looks through the Coconut Gun Bazooka, and aims the shot precisely at the target with close range, kinda like with Snake's missiles. Shooting the gun, the coconut missile aims perfectly straight to the target, with all three lights above Diddy's cell becoming green, which effectively frees him from his prison as the bars were lifted up.

"Yeehaw! I'm free now! Thanks DK, and a human? Who are you?" Diddy asked.

Both DK and Kris run over to Diddy as he was shown to be unharmed from any damage that K. Rool may have been caused to make. "Diddy! You're okay!"

"Yes! I'm free, like any monkey or Kong should!" Diddy claps his hands together in happiness.

"Oh, buddy, there's someone that I would like for you to meet, this is Kris. He's a partner of mine on our way to rescue you! Apparently, he knows Mario as well. Remember the times we played Soccer and Go-Karting?" DK said, introducing the college gamer.

"Oh, yes! Mario's a really good friend of ours, and you've met him?" Diddy asked.

"Yep! Fighting against him sure seems fun enough too, is that right?" Kris asked.

"Yep! He sure has some good moves in hand, yet I've thrown countless peanuts at his face. I'm pretty sure he doesn't like them." Diddy answered.

"I'm sure he doesn't." Kris laughed, by the thought of how many fights there were when Diddy threw a lot of peanuts to the heroic plumber. From the Brawl tournament, to the upcoming Ultimate tournament. "Well, I think it's my decision to leave this place and let the monkey heroism go to y'all for now to beat up K. Rool. Thank you, everyone."

"Hey, thanks for saving me! It took guts for you to climb up and save me!" Diddy said.

"Yeah! Kris, as of this point, for saving my friend, I would like for you to take the honor of being named, a Kong." DK said, shaking Kris' hand as thanks for the adventure they have been through.

"Really? Thanks, DK! You know, if you want, I could lend a hand out though whenever you face up against K. Rool. Could be the advisory help needed." Kris said.

"That would be great! You faced some sorts of danger well enough to go up against my arch nemesis later. Me and Diddy would be grateful for your presence to help out." DK cheered.

"Wonderful. Well, bye guys! I'll see you later!" Kris waved goodbye to the monkey duo. The pair went ahead and left Kris behind with him enough time to open up the portal back home after a long adventure that he shared with DK.

"Man, it's nice hanging out with DK and saving his buddy, but now, I'm officially a Kong within this world. But it's time for me to be a regular human again in my world." Kris walks through the portal bringing him back to his house.

Time Hole (To Present) - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Kris' home

Back home, Kris steps out of the portal and notices the hands awaiting for his arrival after some time of being in DK's world.

"Oh! Master and Crazy Hand! Were you waiting for me this entire time?" Kris asked, with a bit of a surprised look on his face.

"Um…well, kinda. It was all Crazy's idea!" Master Hand pointed to his fellow hand partner. Crazy Hand gives in a shocked expression, though without a doubt, true to be said, while Master doesn't often assign blame to others.

"Well, that's actually…crazy." Kris shyly laughed at that statement.

"So, how was DK's world?" Master Hand asked.

"Oh, it was so much fun. I got to use his Coconut Gun, and even officially became a Kong within his world, after we saved Diddy." Kris said, showing some excitement to the hands, after all that time being spent with DK. "Though I do have to say though, it was getting warm over there. I've never been to a jungle before, and now I know that they can be quite warm due to its humidity."

Kris proceeds to take out the cartridge from the machine, effectively closing the portal, and puts the game back into its game box, with Kris closing his game cabinet. "Man, I'm really thirsty after one hell of an adventure."

Master Hand snaps his fingers upon hearing Kris' needs of hydration and on his hand appears to be a water bottle, with a smash logo on the plastic tag. "Smashfied Liquid?" Kris reads the name of the water bottle on it.

"Our own water-based business, for any of the fighters who feel tired out after battle. What we say, hydrate while you smash." Master Hand, explains the water bottle.

"Hmmm…I guess that makes sense. You can call fighting a sport, all of the fighters feel all kinds of sweat while throwing fire, or pointing swords at each other. Plus, this is really tasty!" Kris said, as he manages to drink all of the water bottle within the matter of 2 minutes.

"Water never tasted this good." Kris tosses the bottle into the trash. Afterwards, the boy jumps into bed and gets covered by his blankets.

"Hey, what are you doing? It's still daytime." Master Hand pointed out.

"Sleep. Leave me alone for the next several hours, and then I get back onto my game. M'kay? I had a hell of an adventure with the Kongs, so let me go to Kirby's Dreamland. Later!" Kris quickly closes his eyes, and soon after, he's out like a light.

Both Master and Crazy Hand just question Kris' sleepy presence during the time of day, but instead, they decided to snap themselves out just to give the college gamer some rest after spending time with the King of the Jungle himself.

Whenever Kris wakes up, he'll think everything's a dream, but fortunately for him, it's no mere dream at all, and he's still very happy and excited about his next adventure, that is, wherever he goes next…

To be continued…

And after a few months, your patience has finally been long awaited with the next chapter of this story! While I've known DK as a kid, I don't often play his classic trilogy of games on the Super Nintendo, or even DK64 as well. Sometimes, they can be difficult to 100% all the way through. But I took in research with DK64 for this chapter, and it's somewhat comical you can say. Some characters were given an attitude though. And while Diddy and K. Rool did make appearances in this chapter, this won't be the last that we'll see them, of course getting their own chapters in the future, but as of now, DK's is finished! I hope you enjoyed this style of DK64 written.

But next time, our main character heads to the land of Hyrule and meets up with the Hero of the Wild, and tests himself to become a legendary hero. Can Kris wield the Master Sword? Wait until then!

But for now, thanks for everyone reading! Please make sure to follow and favorite if you enjoyed this story by far, and review to let me know what you think!

Until then, keep on smashing and be sure to drink some Smashified Liquid!

Next, Chapter 3: Champion of Hyrule
