— No asking him questions.
— OK!
— And without commenting on his past either.
— All right!
— Nor do dangerous things!
— It's ok...
— And most importantly, no powers around Damian — This time, Clark Kent said in a much more serious tone as he straightened his tie — You're a simple boy, who came from the countryside, and you made friends with Damian because I and I Bruce we are friends.
— I know all this, Dad. You and Mom made me memorize all the rules since yesterday — Jonathan grumbled impatiently.
Seeing that he had no choice but to hope that his son would respect all the rules, as he usually does, Clark finally rang the Wayne Manor doorbell. He had time to straighten his tie and glasses better.
— Punctual as always, Mr. Kent! — Alfred opened the front doors — I'm afraid they'll have to wait a few minutes before... — A sound of crockery being broken echoed from the hall — Master Bruce and Damian are... — Again crockery being broken, now with laughter all around background — ... Dear God! Looks like someone wants to stay up late cleaning the salon again! — The butler said angrily. With the silence established once more, he cleared his throat and continued — As I was saying: Master Bruce and young Master Damian are in the hall and still...
This time, the sound of something heavy hitting the floor and several dishes was what interrupted him. The old man sighed and followed the direction of the sound. The two guests, enjoying their familiarity with that house, also entered, followed him.
— The china! — Alfred noticed in an irritated tone as soon as he arrived at the hall. It was not even necessary to ask who that had done, the four "children" who lived there pointed at each other, laughing. — Master Bruce, I believe that the fall of the china cabinet is not only of my interest! — He looked at the man sitting at the head of the table, who despite everything continued drinking coffee as if nothing had happened.
— I was, Alfred... I knocked it down with the power of the mind. — Patriarch Wayne replied without even looking at the butler or the children. He was at his worst: disheveled, unshaven, crooked—buttoned pajamas, dark circles under his eyes and, to top it all off, he had a black eye. — Please, punish me locked in the room — He drank some more coffee, he was shaking — I need it.
Alfred was worried, the Kents were surprised and the boys, lined up, began to laugh and slowly walked towards their father. Damian sat on his lap and hugged him trying to hide his face, hide that he was laughing; Dick hugged him and ruffled his hair even more; Tim leaned on the table and put one hand on his shoulder, the other he tried to stifle his laughter; Jason took the cup from his hands and finished drinking his coffee, dropping the innocent piece of china on the floor soon after:
— Damn, we missed you, old man! — And he laughed.
— It's not even eight in the morning and I can't stand you anymore — Bruce verified.
— Who even begged the children to stay here? — Tim grinned, this time with no intention of hiding it.
— He talks like that, but he doesn't live without us! — Dick crossed his arms over his father's head.
— Yeah, maybe not... — Finally surrendering, Bruce let out a small smile as he straightened Damian in his lap and hugged him a little more.
Superman used x—ray vision and a few other gimmicks to make sure these were really the Wayne family. Like Clark, he just frowned a little as he stared at the strangely welcoming scene. Even Jonathan found the whole thing strange.
— As you can see: a week is enough time for everyone to make peace. Unfortunately, Master Bruce's stress remains high, as it was discovered that acting this way also makes him somewhat irritated. He will have more details in the interview.
— Right... — The other responsible adult in the room nodded slowly — About the interview: the agreed time would be now. Want me to come back later?
— It will not be necessary, the boys are already leaving.
All it took was the phrase spoken at a slightly louder volume and Alfred's serious look for the Wayne "children" to stop irritating their father and leave the room in a bunch. Except for Damian, he was still on Bruce's lap hiding his face and didn't seem willing to get out of there.
Jonathan watched his friend from afar, still from the entrance to the vast room, hoping that at some point Damian would recognize him. Noticing young Kent's willingness, Alfred encouraged him to go there:
— Damian will be happy to meet his best friend once again.
The child hero needed more courage to walk to his friend than to face villains. It's not like Damian has seen him for the first time since he's woken up, but it would be the first time without resulting in a crisis soon after. They would be able to talk, maybe even have fun like old times playing video games!
Bruce was about to call his son's attention to Jonathan, but he didn't have to: Damian glared at his friend when there were only a few steps between them. He looked at him with her beautiful green eyes, smiled, got up and left, pulling Jon by the hand:
— I was waiting for you, I want to show you several things! — He spoke as if they had just spent a weekend away from each other — I learned to play video games again!
Everyone was surprised by that reaction, especially young Kent.
