Wait For You
Olivia
It's been a week since Olivia left Fitz in the wee hours of the morning after having yet again spellbinding sex. She would love nothing more than to wake up next to that beautiful specimen, but she's a realist. She is sleeping with a married man. She has to stick to and play her role which is a mistress, and mistresses don't wake up next to married men. They stay in the shadows unseen and unheard.
Fitz however have a way of muddling things. He's been blowing Olivia up nonstop with calls and texts. Each text more threatening than the last. She is a fool to think the man is falling for her. Their connection lies nothing beyond a physical one. Fitz will eventually move on. He has to for the sake of them both.
Hearing a knock at her front door, Olivia climbed out of bed to answer it. Amelia has been with Michael since they've returned from Six Flags. The girls haven't made up yet and Olivia misses her person terribly. She knows she has to do better when it comes to sharing Amelia. But for so long Olivia has become dependent on Amelia and sharing her is something Olivia isn't ready for.
Thinking it was their neighbor Kelis who always locks herself out, Olivia snatched open the door only to find Fitz standing there.
"Fitz –"
Olivia was cut off by Fitz picking her up. She locked her legs around his waist and he kicked the door shut with his foot.
"Which one?" He asked his eyes never leaving hers.
"Straight to the back."
Fitz carried Olivia to her bedroom and tossed her onto her bed.
"This turns you on yeah? All you had to say was that you liked to be chase." Fitz crawled between Olivia's legs.
Olivia ignored his question and stripped out of her clothes. Fitz too came out of his and they gave each other what they are learning they cannot function without, no matter how hard they both resist. When they were done, Olivia's body felt anew reborn if you will.
Seeing Fitz redress threw her for a loop, she couldn't help but ask him, "where are you going?" She at least thought he would stay a little longer and keep her company in case she wanted another round.
"Home Olivia, why?" He was curt and barely looking at her.
"To your wife?" Jealousy was laced in her tone.
"Why? This is just sex right?" He glanced at her before walking out of her bedroom.
"Fitz please stay," Olivia begged. She couldn't go another night alone in this apartment. She hates being alone. It makes her feel exposed and unprotected. What Fitz doesn't know is that she feels safest when sleeping next to him. That is the reason she leaves before he wakes, she wants neither one of them to get used to something that just isn't possible right now. At the end of the day, the man is married.
"When I want some more pussy I'll hit you up." He said over his shoulder leaving her in her bed stunned at the way he just spoke to her.
Olivia has never felt so cheap in her life. She felt like a two-dollar whore, all he forgot to do was leave the money on the dresser.
"Big girls don't cry." Olivia told herself as she fought off her tears.
X
Amelia
"Babe do you have to go?" Michael asked Amelia as he watched her pack her bag. She's been camped out at his place for a week. Not only does she miss Olivia, but she also miss her space as well. She likes Michael a lot, but Olivia is right he is smothering her.
"I need to check on Liv, it's been a week." This is the longest the girls have gone without speaking and it's killing Amelia. She misses her person.
"Babe that girl obviously needs therapy. I wish you stop coddling her, what good is that doing her? She's clearly off her rocker. I honestly don't know how the two of you have been friends this long. It seems all she does is take, take , take, aren't you tired of that?" Michael and Olivia has never hit it off and their dislike for one another only intensified after their argument at the hotel.
Amelia cut her eyes at Michael, "no you don't get to do that Michael you don't Olivia. I know you two have your differences and that's fine. But you don't get to speak on her as if you know her because you don't you don't know what she's been through." Amelia hates when people speak negatively about Olivia. No one knows all Olivia has gone through except Amelia and if it's one thing Amelia doesn't play about it's Olivia's mental health.
"I'm sorry, I'm just –"
"I'm gonna go, I'll call you later," Amelia kissed Michael on the lips and left his place.
Amelia was relieved to find that Olivia was home. Before going into Olivia's bedroom, Amelia grabbed Olivia's favorite bottle of Stella Rose wine, with two wine glasses as a peace offering.
"Hieeeee can I come in?" Amelia softly knocked on Olivia's locked bedroom door.
There was silence, then some shuffling, and finally, Olivia's door slightly came open. Amelia walked inside shutting the door behind her. Olivia was sitting Indian-style on her bed surfing through her phone.
"I have wine." Amelia held up the bottle and the glasses with a cheesy grin.
That caused Olivia to look up from her phone. Amelia knew that would win Olivia over. Her best friend is a wineaholic. Olivia locked her phone patting the spot next to her on her bed. Amelia took that cue and hopped into Olivia's bed. She poured them a healthy glass and sat the bottle on Olivia's nightstand. They both finished their first glass in silence. Amelia grabbed the bottle and poured them another healthier glass of wine.
Amelia turned to Olivia, "I'm sorry I have been a shitty best friend. You didn't deserve any of what I said back at the hotel Liv. I don't mind being your momma, best friend, therapist, counselor, or whatever you need me to be. I don't care if you smother me to death. I hate that I left you alone here for a week knowing how detrimental to your mental health that could be," Amelia placed a comforting hand on Olivia's thigh giving it a squeeze. "I will never let another man come between us Liv, besides Michael isn't all of that anyway." Amelia embellished that last part. She's scared to tell Olivia that she's falling hard for Michael.
Olivia twisted her lips as she looked at Amelia, "you like that man don't front and Ami I want you to because you deserve it seriously. You've always been a hopeless romantic with your simp ass and I love that about you because you give me hope. I don't want you to stop seeing Michael even if he smothers you too," Olivia laughed. "I promise to back off and learn how to share you."
"Hug." Amelia held out her arms.
"Hug." Olivia hugged Amelia and just like that they were back to being best friends.
"So what's been going on with you and Garrett? He's so smitten with you. What did you do to him?" Amelia has been dying to get the tea on Olivia and Garrett.
"Honestly Ami, Garrett, and I only hooked up once while we were at Six Flags. Girl that man can use his tongue." Olivia answered.
"Well girl he is a goner for you, all he does is talk about you to Michael." Amelia informed Olivia.
"Ami I have to tell you something, please don't judge me."
Amelia could see the doubt on Olivia's face which had Amelia concerned for what Olivia was about to say.
"That night we went to Plight I hooked up with Fitzgerald Grant and two more times after that most recent being yesterday," Olivia confessed.
"Quarterback of the New Orleans Saints! Biittcchhh you are lying! Tell me you're lying! You were obsessed with him! Oh my God!" Amelia freaked out. She was waiting for Olivia to tell her that she was joking.
"I wish I was lying Ami."
"Wait is the dick trash?" Amelia was curious.
"Ami it's the best I've ever had," Olivia fell back onto the bed. "I thought no one would top Benny and he exceeded in all areas."
Olivia went on to fill Amelia in on how everything went down between her and Fitz. By the time Olivia was finished the girls were on their third bottle of wine and tipsy.
"So when's the wedding?" Amelia teased.
"Ami don't tease…I think I fucked things up…but he's married…I thought I was doing what was right."
"Liv he doesn't care about his marriage, why should you?"
"I don't want that karma."
"A little late for that Liv. Ya'll both have caught feelings for each other and are too deep in." Amelia cannot believe her best friend is involved with America's favorite athlete.
"It's purely physical a sexual connection that's it."
"Because you made it that way, I bet if you called that man right now and told him you wanted to be with him, he wouldn't hesitate to make you his woman."
"Yeah, his mistress. The world loves him and his wife. Hypothetically speaking if I was to break up that home, I would be ruined and most importantly my business would suffer. I'm also too damaged, trust me once he would have saw past the lust he would've figured it out and jetted out of my life just as quickly as he entered it."
"Olivia you are not damaged, what happened to you was out of your control. It wasn't your fault and you know that. Stop letting that hold you back from finding love because you deserve it too. Stop letting him have control of you, remember what your therapist said, you have to continue to take back that control and never let up."
"Ami it will never work. He and I have too much baggage. We're a disaster waiting to happen."
"You don't know that Olivia. Give it a try, like he said he isn't asking you to marry him. I promise if you let him get to know you, he'll fall even harder."
"Pour me some more wine."
Amelia poured Olivia another glass of wine and the girls caught each other up on what's been happening in their lives during the 2 weeks they weren't speaking.
Fitz
One Month Later…
Training camp for the 2014/15 season has started and it couldn't have come at a better time. Being back on the field will give Fitz a chance to forget about Olivia and her games even if it's only temporary.
The first quarterback practice of the season went smoothly, Fitz fell right back into the swing of things. He's 14 years in, his craft is already perfected. Each year he just makes minor tweaks, due to the ever-changing style of play in the league.
Full team practice was a completely different story. Guys' egos are still bruised from the way the season ended last year. They also lost a bunch of beloved vets and gained some prominent rookies in the draft that are firecrackers. Fitz likes the grit of the young men and sees promise in a few of them.
"Fitz, what do you think of Shaun? You know we can't keep 'em all." Coach Tom Hollis asked in his Texas drawl.
Fitz watched the rookie Shaun Berks get an extra set of reps in on the field with backup quarterback Marcus Walker. He's one of the rookies Fitz sees promise in.
"I like 'em, coach. The kid is a young Devon." Fitz replied referring to one of the best receivers the saints had in the past 10 years.
"You think he got the potential Fitz? It's only been one practice." Hollis skeptically replied eyeing Shaun.
"Coach we both saw his college tapes, the kid has it. We also got a deal he should've been drafted higher." Fitz advocated for the young receiver.
"Alright Fitz, we'll see. I hope you're right about this one."
"I know I am, see you later coach."
Fitz left the field heading to the cafeteria to grab dinner. He ran into his favorite tight end and friend Brent Drake. Brent has been with the team for 7 years. He and Fitz clicked almost immediately and their chemistry on the field is partly the reason they have won the number of super bowls. The duo has been a bully to defenders having their way.
"Dude your wife is on a rampage. She's talking to the other wives and you know how fast word travels." Brent said to Fitz once practice was over. Brent's wife Ashley and Mellie are close friends. Ashley has been known to be a gossiper. The girl can't hold water. Fitz used to hate when Mellie confided in her because somehow their business always made it to the blogs. Cyrus of course would shut it down before it blew out of proportion keeping Fitz image up to par.
"Brent I am filing for divorce. I am giving up on my marriage. I gave it all I could. The only things I've ever asked of that woman was for her to give me kids and to support my career. She couldn't give me either. I've been patient. I waited until she was done with medical school. She's a fucking attending now. I probably played in over a hundred games and she's been to what 10 at the most. Brent I am tired."
"Wow I had no fucking idea it was that rough bro. Listen man I am here for you if you need anything."
"Thanks, man."
Fitz grabbed his dinner and took it up to his room. Being a vet has its perks. He doesn't have to share his room with anyone. Tomorrow the team had an off day and Fitz planned on hanging with the rookies to get to know them better. He's been doing this every season. In his 3rd year, he was appointed captain and he takes that role very seriously. He's America's favorite athlete for a reason.
Bzzst. Bzzst. Bzzst. Fitz grabbed his personal cell from the bed and screened the call. Olivia was calling. He hasn't spoken to her in a month. The day he left her bedroom he left her with some harsh words. Talking to her that way made him sick to his stomach, but he was done with her games. She had him by the balls and he was losing himself. Not to mention he's about to embark on divorce from his scorned wife. The last thing he needs is stress from a 20-year-old emotionally unavailable woman.
"Hello," he wanted to ignore the call. He couldn't bring himself to do it. For the past month his only source of contact with her was through her social media which she haven't been too active on aside from her business pages.
"Can you sneak out?" Olivia asked.
"What?"
"Can you sneak out?" She repeated.
"I told you that I would call you when I wanted some more pussy." He tried keeping up this indifferent bravado, but she had him curious.
"I just drove 8 hours to come see my favorite quarterback, now come out here and fuck me."
"Olivia you're not outside."
"I'm in a white Nissan Altima."
Fitz hung up and slipped on his Nike slides and a hoodie and left his hotel room. The hallway was clear except for security canvasing the perimeters. True to her word, Olivia was parked in a secluded part of the parking lot and her windows were tinted. The traffic was light outside of the hotel. Fitz slipped on his hoodie and into Olivia's car without being spotted.
"What kinda game are you playing with me, Olivia?" Fitz frustratingly sighed looking over at her. As always she looked amazing. She was casually dressed in Nike compression shorts and a tank to match. Her face was bare and she was wearing braids.
"Is that the best greeting you have for me?" Olivia squeezed his thigh.
Fitz ran a hand over his face, "you are wearing me the fuck out Olivia. You are the most complex woman I have ever come across and I love it. I would love to figure you out and break down those walls, but you give me nothing. Usually, I am good at reading people. I pride myself on that, yet I can't seem to figure you out. And you know what I may be coming on too strong and that's pulling you back from me. So I give up." Fitz turned to get out of her car.
"Fitz wait," Olivia grabbed his arm.
Fitz turned back into the seat and looked straight ahead out of the windshield. He couldn't look at her without losing all sense of logic. He needed to think with his big head right now and not his little one.
"Fitz you make me nervous. I lose control of my thoughts and emotions in your presence. I can't breathe when I am around you. You control me and I hate it. I told myself I would never allow another man to have that much control over me and that's why I run. Fitz, you make me feel things that I don't want to feel. You made me start to picture a life with you. I hate the way you look at me as if I am the only girl in the world. I hate that you make love to me as if you're making love to your wife for the first time. This thing was supposed to be for a night, I was prepared to just add you to my list. Yet I watch for you. Fitz I burn for you. So yeah I've caught feelings and I hate it. Or maybe it's the sex that has my mind warped into thinking I actually have feelings for you. I don't know. What I do know is that this will never work, you're married and I am too damaged." She finally opened up to him and if he didn't know it then, Fitz has fallen for this complex woman that drives him crazy.
"Olivia you control me. I watch for you. I wait for you. I am yours, Olivia. I asked my wife for a divorce. My marriage has been over for a while now. I lied to you. I never wanted one night with you. I wanted you. I want you to be mine. I want you to wait for me."
"Fitz I can't I am damaged you'll see."
"Then let me fix what you think is broken. Say you'll wait for me, I promise to make you the happiest woman in the world if you'll just wait for me." It was Fitz turn to beg.
"What if it's just a sexual connection? What happens when the lust fades?" He could see she was fighting an internal battle.
"We'll take it slow as slow as you want…tell me you'll wait for me."
"Fitz I'll wait for you."
Fitz placed a hand around the back of Olivia's neck and pulled her in for a kiss. "Thank you." He smiled against her lips before kissing her again.
"I'm scared…" Olivia broke the kiss.
"I got you. I'll protect you. I'll take care of you. Do you trust me?"
Her eyes answered before she spoke a word.
"Yes." She confirmed.
"Say it."
"I trust you." She whispered against his lips.
"Spend the night with me," he wasn't asking.
"What if we get caught?"
"I'll go in first and you come in 5 minutes later. No one should, but if you're stopped say that you're Shaun Berks girlfriend. I'll be waiting by the elevators. Put this on." Fitz handed Olivia his hoodie.
"Who is Shaun Berks?"
"A rookie they always make the mistake of inviting their girlfriends during training camp."
Olivia laughed, "okay."
Fitz got out of the car and walked back into the hotel. The lobby was empty except for the hotel staff moving about. Five minutes later, Olivia joined him at the elevator. They rode up to the floor his room was on. He kept a healthy distance and pulled Olivia into his room hoping no one spotted them.
"So what now?" Olivia asked eyeing Fitz's junk. He has a freak on his hand. Too bad he has other plans for them tonight.
"We talk…no sex…tell me everything you want me to know about you." Fitz caught her off guard with his answer.
"I need some alcohol."
Fitz nodded his head and pulled out a bottle of wine from the mini bar.
For the remainder of the night, they continued to open up to each other. The more she talked, the more he realized that at 20, this young woman has faced some battles. Battles that have made her feel unworthy of loving healthy relationship. A sudden protectiveness came about and Fitz vowed to Olivia that he will never let another soul hurt or take advantage of her. She ended up passing out before him, and looking down at her, Fitz has never been more satisfied with a risk.
Babes, as always leave your thoughts good.
