Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Chapter 2: The Contest of the Golden Ticket Begins

Meanwhile, at the Buckets' house, Mrs. Bucket was preparing dinner.

"Charlie and Robyn are late tonight.", Mrs. Bucket spoke.

"They work too hard for kids their age. They need more time to play.", an old man named Grandpa Joe spoke.

"Not enough hours in the day. With none of you out of bed in 20 years, it takes a lot of work to keep us all going.", Mrs. Bucket spoke.

"If only their father were alive.", Grandma Josephine commented.

"Well, one day, I'm gonna get out of this bed and help them.", Grandpa Joe spoke.

"Oh, Dad, you've been saying that for years.", Mrs. Bucket responded.

"Well..., maybe if the floor wasn't so cold.", Grandpa Joe spoke before both Charlie and Robyn entered.

"Hi, Mom.", Charlie and Robyn greeted.

"Wake up, everyone; Charlie and Robyn are home!", Grandpa Joe spoke.

"Grandpa George.", Charlie spoke before he kissed him.

"Grandma Georgina. Grandma Josephine.", Robyn adder before she kissed then both.

"Grandpa Joe.", Charlie added before he kissed him and noticed Joe's bowl of cabbage water.

"Cabbage Soup. Is that your supper, Grandpa?", Charlie asked.

"Well, it's everyone's supper, Charlie.", Joe responded.

"We're tired of cabbage water. It's not enough!", Robyn responded.

"Charlie!", Georgina scolded.

"It's all we have.", Josephine added.

"What are you saying?", Joe asked.

"How about this for a real banquet?", Robyn responded, producing a loaf of bread.

"Charlie, Robyn where'd you two get that?", Mrs. Bucket asked.

"What difference does it make where they got it? Point is: they got it.", Grandpa Joe spoke.

"It's our first payday.", Charlie responded.

"We bought it with our salary. We had two of them, but we gave one to some new friends.", Robyn responded.

"That was very generous of you two.", Mrs. Bucket grinned.

"I just hope these new friends of yours appreciate it.", Grandpa Joe responded.

Meanwhile, Tom and Jerry were doing a gig as Tom played the accordion while Jerry danced along before Tom got out a sign that said, "Help buy a couple of Wonka Bars for two deserving children" while Jerry got out a hat.

"A couple of Wonka Bars for two deserving children?", one of the citizens spoke before he and the others left with not much payment in the hat at all.

Just then, Bill's Candy Shop closed before a sort of delivery truck arrived to restock the candy bars with Tom and Jerry noticing this before the former smirked and looked toward Jerry, who turned to him just as Spike, the bulldog in charge of deliveries, brought a box of candy bars inside the store with Tom and Jerry going to the back of the truck only to find that there were no more boxes. With that, they had to go with the next best option: infiltration. But when they got to the door, Tom and Jerry noticed that it was locked. Soon after, the latter found another way where they can get in: through the window. Of course, it wasn't easy as later, when Tom got in-between the rooftop and the window, he lost his balance and hung upside down, quickly looking down and getting scared up to a point that he covered his eyes and turned to Jerry, who pointed to the window before Tom then made himself a bridge for Jerry, who walked on Tom and saw through the window.

"Last one.", Spike spoke before he set the box down with Jerry then pulling Tom along, that is, until the window closed on Tom, making him scream until Jerry shushed him with a nearby plant.

Thankfully, Spike didn't turn his attention to the sound of Tom's screaming, though. Then, Tom spat out the plant with Jerry then pulling him along again before Tom got stuck, prompting Jerry to pull harder, causing Tom's feet to be flattened when he was pulled in completely before Tom noticed how long his legs were, flared at Jerry, and tried to stand up only to bang his head against the ceiling. After that, the cat lowered and grabbed Jerry, who gave him the idea on how to make use of his long legs.

"And that makes 5,000 boxes of Wonka Bars delivered early. I bet there's a big bonus in that for me.", Spike said as Tom lowered his long legs enough to grab the box and lift it up.

"Now, was that just Wonka Bars? Or were there Scrumdidilyumptious, too?", Spike puzzled before Tom lifted up, completely.

"Huh?! What gives? I knows I delivered that box.", Spike puzzled as Tom snuck away before Tom winked happily to Jerry, who gave a thumbs up to him.

"Hohoho. Musta left it on the truck.", Spike guessed before he walked out and started jiggling the doorknob just as Tom set the box down and gasped upon noticing the door opening.

Soon after, the door opened with the doorway now in-between Tom's long legs before Spike walked out and then saw that the truck was empty.

"I don't get it. It's got to be somewhere.", Spike pondered before he walked away from the truck and grew shocked upon noticing Tom with long legs and Jerry with him before the two disappeared behind the truck, further stupefying the bulldog.

Later that night, Tom and Jerry Carter the Wonka Bar box over to the Bucket's house where a Grandpa Joe, Charlie, and Robyn were talking.

"After we finished our paper route, we were in front of Wonka's. There was this strange man there. I think he was a tinker. He was standing right behind us and looking up at the factory. Just before he left he said, 'Nobody ever goes in, and nobody ever comes out.'", Robyn explained.

"And right he was, Robyn. Especially not since the tragic day that Willy Wonka locked it.", Grandpa Joe responded.

"Why'd he lock it?", Charlie asked.

"Because all the other chocolate makers in the world were sending in spies-dressed as workers!-to steal Mr. Wonka's secret recipes. Especially Slugworth... Oh, that Slugworth, he was the worst! Finally, Mr. Wonka shouted, 'I shall be ruined! Close the factory!' And that's just what he did. He locked the gates and vanished completely. And then suddenly, about three years later, the most amazing thing happened. The factory started working again, full blast! And more delicious candies were coming out than ever before. But the gates stayed locked so that no one, not even Mr. Slugworth, could steal them.

"But Grandpa, someone must be helping Mr. Wonka work the factory.", Robyn spoke.

"Thousands must be helping him.", Grandpa Joe spoke.

"But who? Who are they?", Charlie asked.

"That is the biggest mystery of them all.", Grandpa Joe responded before Tom knocked on the door.

"Who could that be?", Robyn puzzled.

"I got it.", Charlie said as he got out of bed and opened the door to show Tom out at the door.

"Tom?", Charlie and Robyn puzzled.

"Hey, Grandpa. This is Tom and... Where's Jerry?", Charlie puzzled.

Then, Tom stepped in, saluted, made some room, and snapped his fingers before in walked Jerry, who carried the whole box of Wonka Bars only for Jerry to get flattened before Robyn shushed him with Tom then lifting up the box and getting Jerry out from underneath before Charlie grinned while Robyn giggled a bit as Tom then got Jerry back to normal and slammed him to the ground.

"Uh, what's in the box?", Robyn asked before Tom and Jerry opened the box, showing several Wonka Bars.

"What...?", Robyn spoke in surprise.

"What are we waiting for? Let's eat!", Grandpa Joe grinned.

"Grandpa, did you ever see so many?", Charlie asked.

"But how did you...? I mean, how did you guys buy so many of those?", Robyn asked before she and Charlie noticed Tom and Jerry giving puzzled looks.

"Wait a minute. You guys didn't buy any of those, did you?", Robyn asked before Tom and Jerry grinned nervously.

"I don't think they did buy them, Robyn.", Grandpa Joe spoke.

"Guys, look. We appreciate the effort, but this isn't right.", Robyn spoke.

"Sorry, guys, but those don't belong to us. They have to go back.", Charlie spoke before Tom and Jerry glared to each other.

"I'll come along if only to help you guys return all those bars.", Robyn assured to Tom and Jerry.

That's just what she did. The next morning, Tom, Jerry, and Robyn arrived at the candy shop.

"Okay. We still have some time before the shop opens. So, how do we get it in without anyone noticing?", Robyn asked.

Then, Jerry got an idea as he looked up at the Candy Shop sign and grinned.

Later, Jerry lifted Tom up as he held onto the box. Of course, it was difficult to maneuver as Tom wound up hitting the wall.

"Guys, hurry! We gotta return that box back to the store and fast.", Robyn whispered before Spike popped up and grabbed Jerry.

"Oh, I gotcha, ya rotten candy thief.", Spike smirked.

"Wait. It's not what you think. We were just going to return the box back to the store.", Robyn assured before Jerry pointed up to the box, which then fell down, along with Tom, right on top of Spike.

"But not like that.", Robyn added before Spike roared, lifting both Tom and the box off him.

"I'll get you!", Spike shouted as he grabbed onto the box that was then lifted up via Tom with Jerry struggling to keep it balanced.

"Nobody gives Spike the slip!", Spike exclaimed before he and Tom were tossed toward the window, breaking it as they went inside.

"We have to go help him.", Robyn before she and Jerry entered and saw Tom in trouble as he was trying to get away from Spike, who got up and was about to get him when Jerry whistled.

"Huh?", Spike puzzled before turning to see Jerry waving to him and stepping on the chocolate frosting bag, splattering him with said frosting and blinding him.

"Who put out the lights?", Spike asked before tripping on the balls and landing with Jerry then tying him up with a licorice rope and both cat and mouse shaking the soda bottles and placing them on his back with the bottles spewing out soda from the bottom and sending him flying through the window.

"I'll get you, you lousy candy thieves!", Spike shouted.

"We're just trying to return what was stolen!", Robyn shouted before the trio overheard Bill singing.

"Oh, no. It's Bill!", Robyn whispered in surprise before they turned to the box.

"We better put it somewhere and fast.", Robyn spoke before she, Tom, and Jerry pushed the box into the closet and snuck out, knowing that the box is in the closet.

Later, Charlie and Robyn were now at school.

"Charlie and Robyn Bucket.", the teacher called.

"Yes, Mr. Turkentine?", Charlie asked.

"What is it?", Robyn asked.

"I shall need assistants. Come up here.", Mr. Turkentine said before Charlie and Robyn joined him at the front just as Tom and Jerry peeped out the window.

"Now, we have here nitric acid, glycerin, and a special mixture of my own. Together, it's horrible, dangerous stuff; blows you up. But mixed together in the right way, as only I know how, what do you think it makes?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"I don't know, sir.", Charlie asked.

"Of course you don't know. You don't know because only I know. If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you. And for a student to teach his teacher is presumptuous and rude. Do I make myself clear?", Mr. Tarkentine asked.

"Yes, sir.", Charlie replied before the students laughed.

"Good. Now, mixed together in the right way only I know how, these three highly dangerous ingredients make the finest wart remover in the world. The trick is to pour them in equal amounts. Now, Charlie, you take the nitric acid and Robyn, you take the glycerin, and I'll take my own special mixture. You ready?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"Ready.", Robyn replied.

"Good. Pour 'em in, you two.", Mr. Turkentine spoke before they poured only for the mixture to emit a small boom and a large puff of smoke, making the kids cheer.

Tom and Jerry, however, did not like the smoke and waft it away as they coughed.

"Did we do it wrong?", Robyn asked.

"No, certainly not; this is for very big warts.", Mr. Turkentine assured before he overheard a commotion in the hall.

"Now what's going on out there?", Mr. Turkentine asked before he opened the door to see Winkelmann.

"You, Winkelmann, come here. What's happening?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"Willy Wonka's opening his factory; he's gonna let people in.", Winkelmann responded.

"Are you sure?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"We just heard. He's giving away tons of free chocolate!", Winkelmann responded.

"Free chocolate?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"But it's only for five people. He's hidden five Golden Tickets, and whoever finds them wins a lifetime supply of chocolate.", Winkelmann responded, surprising both Charlie and Robyn.

"Really?", Robyn grinned.

"Golden Tickets, eh? Where's he hidden them?", Mr. Turkentine asked.

"Inside five Wonka Bars! You gotta buy Wonka Bars to find the tickets!", Winkelmann responded as Tom and Jerry overheard the news and got excited.

"Class dismissed!", Mr. Turkentine shouted before he took off with the other kids racing for the candy shop as well.

But for Charlie and Robyn, it wasn't exactly an easy task considering their circumstances as they sadly grabbed their stuff and were on their way out when Tom and Jerry knocked on the window, surprising the two.

"Jerry. Tom!", Robyn grinned before she and Charlie went over to them.

"Did you hear that? Boy. If only we had some Wonka Bars.", Charlie spoke before Jerry drew on a chalkboard, writing a W and a square around it.

"Wait. That's a Wonka Box.", Robyn grinned.

"There must be a hundred Wonka boxes in there. Good work, guys.", Charlie grinned.

"Yeah, but there's only one small problem. We don't steal.", Robyn spoke with Charlie understanding her point.

"Sorry, guys, but those Wonka Bars don't belong to us.", Charlie spoke as he left.

"There is still a way to get one of them. But if we're going to do that, we'll need to do that the honest way.", Robyn spoke to Tom and Jerry before catching up to a Charlie.

"I hope we find that golden ticket.", Robyn said as she left before Tom then erased the box marked with a W from the chalkboard.

Later, Tom and Jerry were now at the Buckets' house as they saw the Wonka event going on.

"And now, details on the sudden announcement that has captured the attention of entire world. Hidden among the countless billions of Wonka Bars are five Golden Tickets. And to the five people who find them will come the most fabulous prize one could wish for: a lifetime supply of chocolate. And as if this were not enough, each winner before he receives his prize will be personally escorted through the top secret chocolate factory by the mythical Willy Wonka himself. The amount of chocolate involved in this competition has relighted*** the imagination to incite*** candy eaters and all citizens around the world.", the tv newsman spoke as Tom, Jerry, and the Buckets watched.

"They're all crazy!", Grandma Josephine commented.

"Sssshhh! The man's a genius! He'll sell a million bars.", Grandpa Joe shushed.

"Grandpa, do you think we've got a chance to find one?", Robyn asked.

"One? I'll bet you two'd find all five!", Grandpa Joe smirked.

"One's enough for us.", Robyn replied as Jerry drew a detailed drawing of the Wonka Box from earlier before he and Tom walked over to Robyn and Charlie before showing the former's drawing.

"No, guys. This isn't right.", Robyn spoke before Tom and Jerry repeatedly banged their heads against the wall.

"We began with five Golden Tickets like five lucky bolts of lightning ready to strike without notice at any point on the map. No one knew where, no one knew when the first one would hit. But as you all know, last night we got our answer. While we in America slept, the first golden ticket was found in the small town of Duselheim, Germany. We've been waiting several hours for the follow-up story, and we're finally ready with a live report.", the TV Newsman spoke before ur went to the German Broadcaster, who then turned to a sort of fat boy named Augustus Gloop.

"Proud we are, for the attention of the entire world focuses today right here in Duselheim, a community suddenly thrust into prominence by the unexpected discovery of the first Wonka Golden Ticket. Its lucky finder is the son of our most prominent parve butcher. The boy's name? Augustus Gloop. Augustus Gloop, the pride of Duselheim, the fame of Western Germany, an example for the whole world. Augustus, how does it make you feel to be the first Golden Ticket finder?", the German Broadcaster asked.

"Hungry.", Augustus replied.

"Any other feelings?", the broadcaster asked.

"Feel sorry for Wonka. It's gonna cost him a fortune in fudge.", Augustus responded.

"Mr. Gloop, would you mind saying...?", the broadcaster asked before Augustus bit off the end of the microphone.

"Mrs. Gloop, would you care to say a few words to the television audience?", the German Broadcaster asked.

"I just knew Augustus would find a Golden Ticket. Eating is his hobby, you know. We encourage him. He wouldn't do it unless he needed the nourishment, would he? Anyway, it's all vitamins.", Mrs, Gloop spoke as a strange man then whispered into Augustus' ear, earning Robyn's suspicious glare toward the strange man before Tom and Jerry got out of bed while Grandpa Joe turned off the TV.

"One down, four to go.", Charlie spoke.

"Don't worry, Charlie. You'll find that Golden Ticket.", Grandpa Joe assured before Jerry then tore up the picture into pieces and then got in bed with Tom joining in, much to Grandpa Joe's discomfort.

Meanwhile, at a different factory, women were already on the factory floor unwrapping Wonka Bars while the Salts were upstairs in an office.

"I wanted to be the first to find a Golden Ticket, Daddy.", a brat named Veruca demanded.

"I know, Angel. We're doing the best we can. I've got every girl on the bleeding staff hunting for you.", Mr. Salt assured.

"All right, where is it? Why haven't they found it?", Veruca asked angrily.

"Veruca, sweetheart, I'm not a magician! Give me time!", Mr. Salt requested.

But for Veruca, time is something she has.

"I want it now! What's the matter with those twerps down there?", Veruca demanded.

"For five days now, the entire flipping factory's been on the job. They haven't shelled a peanut in there since Monday. They've been shelling flaming chocolate bars from dawn to dusk.", Mr. Salt responded.

"Then, make 'em work nights.", Veruca demanded before Mr. Salt then shouted down the stairs.

"Come along, come along, you girls, put a jack in it or you'll be out on your ears, every one of you! And listen to this: the first girl that finds a Golden Ticket gets a one pound bonus in her pay bucket! What do you think of that?", Mr. Salt spoke before the women then screamed and began unwrapping more furiously.

And no sooner did one of them find the next golden ticket.

"Mr. Salt, I found it! I got it!", the worker shouted before the Salts rushed over to the door just as Slugworth lead the worker up the stairs to Veruca.

"Give me that ticket! I want it! I did it! I've found it! I've found a Golden Ticket!", Veruca spoke before Slugworth whispered in Veruca's ear.

Several days later, Tom, Jerry, Robyn, and Charlie noticed the TV and saw the news report.

"Anxiety rubs high as the world enters its 43rd day in the hunt for Golden Tickets. But today, the small town of Miles City, Montana had reason to cheer. I'm here with the winner of the 3rd Golden Ticket, Ms. Violet Beauregarde, who...", the Montana Reporter spoke before Mr. Beauregarde grabbed the microphone.

"Hi, folks, Sam Beauregarde here, Square Deal Sam to you, with all of today's great giveaway bargains. The finest values you'll get anywhere in the entire country. Now this little number right here's a four door sedan...", Sam began before Violet interrupted.

"Come on, Dad, they don't want you!", Violet interrupted rudely.

"Thank you, sir. Violet, would you care to say a few words to the nation.", the reporter asked.

"Sure I will. Here it is, Golden Ticket Number Three, and it's all mine.", Violet grinned.

"Tell us how it happened, Violet.", the reporter spoke.

"Well, I'm a gum-chewer, normally, but when I heard about these ticket things of Wonka's I laid off the gum and switched to candy bars instead. Now, of course, I'm right back on gum. I chew it all day except at meal times when I stick it behind my ear.", Violet explained as Charlie and Robyn turned to Tom and Jerry, who both blinked.

"Violet...", Mrs. Beauregarde began as she walked in.

"Cool it, Mother. Now this piece of gum here is one that I've been chewing on for three months solid, and that's a world record! It's beaten the record held by my best friend Miss Cornelia Prinzmetel, and was she mad! Hi, Cornelia, how are you sweetie?", Violet asked before her father butted in again.

"If I could just jump in here, these deals are goin' fast, folks, so come on down while they last.", Mr. Beauregarde spoke as the strange man whispered into her ear before Charlie, Tom, and Jerry left like everyone else, although only Robyn showed suspicion.

"That guy again... What is going on here?", Robyn pondered.

Several days later, another Golden Ticket was found, this time in a sort of home and by a boy with a cowboy hat and red scarf to go with it.

"While the rest of the world goes on searching, here in the Southwest it has actually happened. That's what I said, friends. There's only one Golden Ticket left in the entire world because right here in our own community of Marble Falls, Arizona, is lucky winner number four. Now, the name soon to be heard around the universe is Mr. Mike Teevee. Hey, Mike, do you think we might shut that thing off?", the Arizona reporter asked.

"No, are you crazy?", Mike asked.

"He won't answer 'til the station break.", Mrs. Teevee explained.

"Mike, the country wants to hear from you; the world is waiting...", the reporter began.

"Can't you shut up? I'm busy. Boy, what a great show.", Mike spoke.

"Mike loves TV. I serve all his TV dinners right here. He's never even been to the table.", Mrs. Teevee explained.

"You love to watch TV, Mike?", the 2nd reporter asked.

"You bet.", Mike replied.

"What about that Golden Ticket, Mike? That's what we all came to hear...", the 3rd reporter began before Mike shot his cap gun.

"Gotcha. Relax. It's just a cap gun. Wait 'til I get a real one. Colt .45. Pop won't let me have one yet, will you, Pop?", Mike asked.

"Not 'til you're twelve, son.", Mr. Teevee responded before Slugworth whispered into Mike's ear.

Back at the Buckets' house, Grandpa Joe turned off the TV.

"That guy again? This can't be a coincidence.", Robyn spoke.

"Wait, Robyn. You don't think that...", Charlie began.

"Maybe. But we'll know for sure. That is, if we find the last Golden Ticket.", Robyn responded.

"Don't worry, Robyn. You two got as much chance of finding the Golden Ticket as anyone.", a Grandpa Joe spoke.

"It's okay. We're happy with the scarves you gave us.", Charlie grinned, gesturing to what Tom and Jerry were wearing as Robyn started wearing her own.

"There's one more present for the both of you, Charlie.", Grandpa Joe spoke before he handed the bar to Charlie and Robyn.

"A Wonka Bar?", Robyn asked in surprise.

"Where did you get it?", Charlie asked.

"I've been saving up. When I had enough, Tom and Jerry went to the store so I wouldn't have to get out of bed. They bought the last Wonka Bar in town.", Grandpa Joe spoke as said cat and mouse held their chests high, clapped, and bowed, banging their heads against each other.

"Seriously?!", Robyn spoke, her eyes widened.

"Well, open 'er up, you two. Show us that Golden Ticket.", Grandpa Joe offered as Tom and Jerry looked in anxiously.

"No, you do it. We can't.", Robyn offered.

"Yeah, we're too nervous.", Charlie added.

"Something tells me we're gonna be lucky this time. I've got a funny feeling inside. Which end shall I open first?", Joe asked.

"That end. Just a tiny bit.", Charlie spoke, pointing to the top.

"Like this?", Grandpa Joe asked before Robyn nodded as Grandpa Joe opened the wrap a bit more.

"Now a bit more.", Charlie spoke before Joe hesitated.

"You finish it; I can't.", Joe spoke.

"No, Grandpa, you do it.", Robyn urged before Tom anxiously bit into his claws, drilling out bits of his claws like a nail biter.

"All right, here goes.", Grandpa Joe spoke before he opened the wrapper only to see only a single candy bar and no golden ticket, much to their disappointment, especially Tom and Jerry's.

"You know... I bet those Golden Tickets make the chocolate taste terrible.", Charlie guessed before he and Grandpa Joe, as well as Robyn, hugged each other with Tom and Jerry giving sad smiles.

"And on the bright side, we have a feast to look forward to.", Robyn grinned.
