Obi-Wan opened his eyes as he felt something akin to plastic rub against him. A faint beeping noise could be heard. Obi-Wan looked up to see R2D2 trying to get his attention.

"R2," Obi-Wan asked stretching his back. "What are you doing here?"

The astromech droid gave a few slow beeps of concern. Obi-Wan gave a faint smile.

"Like I got can over by a podracer, but I've been through worse. "Anakin really asked you to stay with the ship?"

R2 gave a beep of conformation before pulling out a canister of fresh water from his inner storage systems and giving it to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan took it willingly.

"Thank you my friend."

Obi-Wan let out a sigh as he guzzled the water down. Perhaps it was just the heat and smog covered air, but for whatever reason the water tasted like something straight from the stars above. He slowly got to his feet and looked around the area. There was no sign of Anakin, Padme or Darth Sidious. Obi-Wan let out a sigh.

"Where did it all go wrong?" He asked himself.

Truthfully that was the million credit question he had been asking himself over the past couple of days. Just one month ago, he had Anakin were having drinks at Dex's Diner laughing, joking, and talking about their hopes and fears for the future. Now, that friendship had all gone in flames. Maybe he had been too hard on Anakin in some areas. Maybe he had not shown enough support.

Obi-Wan thought back of the time when Anakin had dreams of his mother. Whenever he would talk about it Obi-Wan would just dismiss it. "Dreams pass in time." He would say. Except in these weren't mere dreams. They were potential visions of the future. While visions were often inaccurate as to quote Master Yoda "always in motion the future is," Anakin's visions regarding his were unfortunately very accurate and the woman died shortly after he came to Tatooine. Looking back, it was pretty obvious that Anakin's path towards the dark side started there. Maybe if obi-wan had tried to prevent that, this whole situation could have been nipped in the bud, but hindsight is always twenty-twenty.

Obi-Wan let out another sigh. "I have failed you Anakin. I really have failed you."

"Remember Obi-Wan, focus on the moment."

Obi-Wan looked around startled. He could have sworn he just heard the voice of Qui-Gon, but looking around there was no one but himself and R2.

"Am I going crazy?" Obi-wan shook his head and thought about the words spoken to him. Obi-Wan looked to R2.

"Focus on the moment huh, Well, at the moment We need to find a way to get off of this inferno of a planet. R2, is Anakin's ship still on the landing platform?"

R2 gave a beep of affirmation.

"Then that is where we need to go. Come on."

The duo sprinted through the remains of the mining facility only for Obi-Wan to stop in his tracks and signal R2 to be quiet when he saw a squad of clone troops on the floor directly below them.

"Search the perimeter." The clone commander barked. "If a Jedi Starfighter is here, then a Jedi can't be too far away."

"Well, they aren't wrong." Obi-Wan said to R2 . R2 gave a series of buzzes that was the equivalent of a chuckle. The clones below suddenly looked up hearing the noise. Obi-Wan gritted his teeth. "Way to go Kenobi." He said to himself. "So much for the element of surprise."

Drawing his lightsaber Kenobi landed dead center in the room, the clones slowly drew their blasters.

"Hello there." Obi-Wan said cheekily.

"Blast him!"

Obi-Wan felt himself immediately falling into his standard Form II motions. Compared to Anakin taking down mere clones was a walk in the park, one by one the clones fell, some fell to deflected blaster bolts, while others fell to Kenobi's quick decapitating strikes.

"That was easy enough." Obi-Wan thought to himself, though his thoughts quickly changed as he looked up to see a V-Wing attempted to bomb the platform.

"Oh this just keeps getting better and better!" Kenobi cursed.

As the V-wing began to close the gap, Obi-Wan looked to see a Anti-Aircraft turrent rise from the floor and blast the V-Wing out of the sky. The ship landed in the lava river and sunk with a mighty groan. Obi-Wan breathed a sigh of relief. He looked over to see R2 exit out of a door. Letting out a couple of beeps.

"Did you hack that turret?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Beep Boop"

"Now I know why Anakin refused to have any other droid and never memory wiped you. You really are special. I owe you one."

"Beep Beep"

"Wait. What do you mean you'll keep a tab for me?!"

The two had feelings of relief seeing Anakin's ship still on the platform. Feelings of bitter sweetness came over Obi-Wan. On one hand it was a sort of comfort seeing the ship again, on the other hand, he couldin't help but think of what had just recently occurred.

"Beep Beep?"

"We get off the planet and see if we can get in contact with Senator Organa from there we…ahh!"

Obi-Wan cupped his hand around his forehead as sharp headache overwhelmed him. He felt a great a deep disturbance in the force. It's as if the very life force of two powerful beings were getting chocked out in darkness before being snuffed out completely. Obi-Wan's eyes widened, Anakin's Children…they were gone.

"Oh Anakin…I'm so sorry."

"Beep?"

"Something….Something terrible has happened. Come on."

R2 hopped into his part of the starfighter and the ship soon flew into star studded space. Obi-Wan locked into Bail Organa's shuttle.

"Senator Organa. This is general Obi-Wan Kenobi, repeat this is general Obi-Wan Kenobi. A holographic image showing both Senator Organa and Jedi Master Yoda appeared before Kenobi. The Jedi Master couldn't help but smile. These were the friendliest faces he'd seen all day.

"Obi-Wan Thank the stars you're alright." Organa said.

"Afraid we lost you we were." Yoda added.

"I…had a brief run in with the emperor, but I live to fight another day."

"We'll send you the coordinates to our Rendezvous Point."

Obi-Wan all but wanted to kiss the durasteel floor upon setting foot on the Tantive IV, considering the foulness of Mustafar, something as clean and quaint as the shuttle felt like heaven. Tears started to flow down his face as he saw the slow hobbling figure of Master Yoda walking towards him. The two master's happily embraced.

"Good to see you it is." Yoda said with a small laugh.

"You have no idea."

"Come much to talk about we do."

Obi-Wan told Bail and Yoda about what happened from the discovery of Padme's marriage to Anakin as well as her pregnancy. To his duel with Anakin and his brief encounter with Sidious, to escaping the planet with R2 on Anakin's ship .

"I found no sign of Anakin or Senator Amidala. I can only guess that they have been "rescued" for lack of a better term by Sidious. While I sense Senator Amidala is still alive, I regret to say that I sensed the death of the children in the force. "

Yoda let out a defeated sigh. "Our last hope those children would have been. Now, lost all is. The end of the Jedi this is."

Obi-Wan put his finger to his chin. Everything they had feared in the deepest depths of their nightmares had come to past. Both the Republic and the jedi were now gone.

"I believe I will leave you too alone." Bail said, giving a bow and leaving the conference room/

"What do we do now?" Obi-man asked.

"mmmm…to Dagobah, into exile I go. Disappear I will."

Obi-Wan nodded. "I believe I will settle on Tatooine. Even controlled by the sith, the empire would not insane enough to go into a full blown war so early in their inception. I'm sure I can find work somewhere. It wouldn't be the first time I played the role of a bounty hunter. "

"Before you go Master Kenobi, have something for you I do." Obi-Wan looked in shock as Yoda pulled Qui-Gon's lightsaber from his robe.

"Found this in the Jedi temple I did. Have it I believe you should. A source of light in a time of darkness it will be. Also In your solitude on Tatooine, training I have for you."

"Training?" Obi-Wan asked.

"An old friend has learned the path to immortality. Returned from the netherworld of the Force to train me he did."

Obi-Wan's eyes widened. "Qui-Gon?!
