A/N: I have some family coming over for the last week of the year so it may be a couple of weeks before I can get in the next chapter. In the meantime, here is a little bonus in-between I've been trying to find a place for. This chapter is canon to the story (and any other stories in this series but that is for another time) and in theory this chapter acknowledges every Marvel Comics story that has and could be made, AND every Star Wars story that has existed and could ever exist. The original scripts, Parodies Fanfics, Lego, Robot chicken, video games with alternate endings, ect. whether it's in your official Star Wars headcanon or not I will leave at your discretion. Personally, it exists in mine.
The Watcher gazed at the screen as he observed everything that had occurred in this alternate Galaxy thus far. He was both sadden and yet intrigued as well. The death of that universe's Luke and Leia was a heartbreaking tragedy. Seeing them die or come to a tragic fate, was not something that was new to him, but for them to die as a result of a miscarriage was particularly hard. With their deaths, and both Vader AND Padme taking more of active role it was very unlikely that anybody would effectively oppose the Empire.
This Galaxy's version of Padme and Vader intrigued him though. Despite Padme's dark side being unleashed thanks to Palpatine's influence both directly and indirectly. She was still very much a good person. Even if she was a bit Hutt like in some respects, she was still very much an honorable person who was very much still fighting for peace and stability, something that couldn't be said about tarken especially in the main prominent universe.
The Darth Vader of this universe was especially interesting, In the main universe Vader was a hollow shadow of a man who gave into malice and cruelty and severed himself from Anakin Skywalker to save his son and destroy the empire. In this universe however Vader and Anakin were one in the same, a warrior that walked between the light and dark as true balance demanded. Something that no doubt occurred due to this Padme still being alive and by his side.
The watcher couldn't help but wonder if this version of Darth Vader would become stronger than his mainstream counterpart thanks to coming to terms with his past regrets and if so, to what degree. Would this universe's fate be just as good if not better than its mainstream counterparts even if Luke and Leia were dead and the republic was never reforged? With an honorable Vader and Padme leading the Empire the possibility was there. Perhaps this Empire could become a force of good for its galaxy.
That of course was even assuming this Empire would not meet a similar fate to its mainstream counterpart. The empire's fall in the mainstream universe was as much in part due to its own evils and fatal flaws as much if not more so than simply fate or the "Will of the Force." And, if the watcher's observations in the vast multiverse both in the Milky Way and this galaxy were anything to go by, if evil oppressed the innocent, good would rise up and defeat it even if the road was long and hard.
The Watcher jerked as he heard the blast doors of the hall open. It was Jedi Lord and Maestro of the New Jedi order Luke Skywalker with a tray of coffee.
"Thought you could use a little pick me up." Luke said with a smile. The Watcher smiled back and gladly took a cup.
"I didn't know how much cream and sugar you wanted so I just did three of each."
"Oh no, your hospitality has been wonderful. I am forever grateful to you Lord Skywalker." the Watcher gave a bow.
"Please, call me Luke, Lord only means I own property and I've been around the bin more times than others. Anyway, I should be the one thanking you. I didn't know how to make heads or tails of this place when Ahsoka showed it to me."
"it's really not as daunting as it appears. It's mainly a place to watch and observe. It can be a place of entertainment, inspiration or wisdom. All of which are valid things to have. It just depends on what you are looking for."
"Are all of these lights really windows into alternate universes?"
"Indeed, as I said to you before when we first met. Time. Space. Reality. It's more than a linear path. It's a prism of endless possibility."
"How many alternate universes do you think there are?" the Luke asked.
"More than there are stars in the sky of our own universe. More and more universe's a born every day. Some are whimsical, some are disturbing, some are bizarre beyond words."
"Any more bizarre than being married to a woman that was once a Dianoga that tried to drown, I mean "Baptize you."
Luke smirked as he was thinking of his wife Omi. She was once a Dianoga on the Death Star, but when said death star blew up, her mind was subconsciously transferred to the body of a dying pirate captain that was only a few years older than Luke. Apparently, this subconscious use of "essence transfer" as the sith called it was so common among Dianoga that were force sensitive that it became a prominent part of the species' culture, though they believed it to be reincarnation. a term not inaccurate from a certain point of view.
Omi actually became one of Luke's first students, the two would marry and have several children together. It was an interesting "How I met your mother" story to say the least. Imagine your mother once being an alien that your father thought was trying to eat you.
"There are galaxies with stories that make even that seem normal and mundane by comparison. So long as there is imagine and the question of "What if?" there will always be a multiverse of endless stories to tell."
"Wow." the Maestro whispered in awe. Al of his thirty plus years of knowledge with two generations of Jedi under his belt including his own grandchildren who just started training, and suddenly the greatest Jedi of all time was feeling like a mere apprentice all over again.
"When compared to a full-fledged multiverse, our own universe seems sort of...small."
The Watcher chuckled. "I'm sure our infinite number of counterparts are probably saying the same thing.
"I really need to show Ahsoka this place when she finally decides to take a vacation. She and my wife both."
"Last I checked Lord Skywalker You've taken exactly as many vacations as both the Mrs and Lord Tano. That is to say none."
"Ok so Skywalkers are workaholics. Sue us. Anyway, what has happened in this universe you've been observing so far?"
"Hmm well for starters, a little bit of set up. There is a main universe in which all other universes seem to mainly pull from. It's not the original one though in fact there are four other universe's that came before it. I call the original universe Galaxy-0 and the main Universe Galaxy-5 there is parallel Universe that is very similar to Galaxy-5 I dub Galaxy-6 but much to my own disappointment that Universe is in a state of stasis right now. I can go back and watch the stories that have already happened, but no new stories have unfolded from that universe. I personally dub your Universe Galaxy-316 this other universe that I am currently observing, I dub Galaxy-707. As for what's happened, Galaxy-707's timeline follows yours and Galaxy-5's up until the Aftermath of the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan on Mustafar. This is when things start to break away and alter. Galaxy-707's version of Darth Sidious arrived just a tad bit earlier than your own. He decided to spare Obi-Wan Kenobi, he saved Padme from dying and he seems to be grooming Vader and Padme to be legitimate successors as opposed to simply pawns. The reason why has yet to be revealed though I have my suspicions that he is likely dying, probably as a result of Dark Side Corruption."
"Wouldn't Suprise me." Luke said. "The Palpatine of my universe didn't know the meaning of the word balance. It only makes since other versions of him probably didn't know the meaning of balance either and let themselves be completely engulfed by it."
"Fortunately, the same does not appear to be the case for this Galaxy's version of Anakin Skywalker. He still takes the title of Darth Vader, but he still has the vigor and personality of Anakin. Even, better he's come to terms with his past mistakes and seeks to move forward to do better. The Shadow of evil does not haunt him like it did your father."
Luke smiled at that. "Good for him. What do you think is going to happen to my counterpart or Leia's counterpart?"
The Watcher sighed. "For good or for ill they rest in the Netherworld of The Force. Sidious could save Padme, but you and Leia died a from a resulting miscarriage."
"If Leia and I are dead that means no rebel alliance. Which also means no New Republic. Ben and Yoda don't have a Skywalker they can look to for hope."
"And they are taking it about as well as you can expect. I have a feeling Yoda's part in this story is over. His last lesson was to train Obi-Wan how to live on after death. From here it is likely he will spend the rest of his days in exile. Don't forget he's old. Even your own Yoda died not too long after you returned to him and he told you to confront Vader and Palpatine. Some Versions of Yoda are still healthy and active even at nine hundred. others like yours are in their twilight years."
"Perhaps, but it will still be sort of sad if this Yoda spends the rest of his days in exile. Especially if it's in Dagobah."
"It's not all sorrow. With Padme and Anakin more dedicated to each other more than ever, it's entirely possible they will have even more children than in your timeline or the mainstream timeline Because he no longer considers himself a Jedi, Obi-Wan seems more opening to settling down. He's actually met a dancer at Jabba's palace and the two seem to really be taking with each other. It looks like Qui-Gon Jinn is going to reach out to Obi-Wan and try to reconcile with Anakin and Padme. I'd say the odds are good the Obi-Wan may end up settling down with this woman and both the Kenobi dynasty and the Skywalker dynasty will become close possibly to the point of interconnecting. I cannot say for sure as everything has just started.
"Good for him, I always thought it would have been nice for Ben to have little Kenobi's running around. Mind if I stay and watch with you."
"Not at all, I appreciate company actually."
"I'll grab some popcorn. Let's see how interesting things get."
A/N 2: Quick key. Note this is my personal mapping and nothing official from Disney or Lucasfilm so take it how you will
Galaxy's 0-4: our Universe The Star Wars's universe, and the other 3 drafts leading up to a New Hope. Our Universe is the Galaxy-0 and the prime universe for obvious reasons. we our knowlege of Star Wars becomes lost, no new stories official or fan made can be told.
Galaxy-5: Home to The Universe in which the films and the Disney Canon take place.
Galaxy-6: Legends canon the universe near and dear to my heart that sadly will most likely stay in stasis unless Disney decides to do somthing unexpected.
Galaxy-316: The universe where this chapter takes place. This Universe's Watcher has found himself in the company of this Universe's Luke Skywalker A jedi Lord and Headmaster of the New Jedi Order (the New Jedi Order is different in this universe, but they ARE NOT Sith like. They are still very much like the legends Jedi order in terms of philosphy. Also, Jedi Lord is a gender nuetral term like Sith Lord is. Ahsoka is still very much a female.)
This is the universe where all of my Star wars strories (Present Future and possibly) past will be observed from. So we are essentially watching stories unfold with the Watcher, Luke and whomever comes and goes inside the Hall of Stories.
Galaxy-707: The universe where this story takes place. Don't need to go into detail about that.
Anyway, I hope this satisfies for a time. Happy Holiday and see you in 2022 God Willing.
