Third Person's POV:

~Time Skip~

"Kendall Donald Knight!" yelled Jennifer Knight as she walked into the police station and over to the holding cell where her son sat holding a bag of ice to his lip. "What were you thinking! Picking fights in public! You are lucky those witnesses saw that other boy start it otherwise you would be in much deeper trouble." She said crossing her arms. James looked over from the waiting area where he was sitting and quickly stood to walk over to them.

"Um H-hi I'm James. I can explain. Kendall he was just-" James started to say shyly when he was cut off by a sudden hug from Mama Knight.

"So, you must be the James that Kendall was telling me about!" She said smiling. James blushed and nodded his head.

A police officer walked over hold release papers, "Ma'am, I need you to fill these out so we can release your son." Mama Knight nodded her head and looked over at Kendall.

"We will have a talk later." She said sternly as she turned to follow him to his desk. James turned around looked at Kendall. Kendall soon met his gaze and smiled. "You think you still want to kiss me after this, Jamie?" Kendall said moving the bag of ice away from his busted lip. James let out a little giggle and shook his head 'no' playfully.

"Uh, I rather not taste blood when I kiss my boyfriend" James said with a smile. Kendall soon lit up when he heard James call him his boyfriend. The police officer and Mama Knight walked over to the cell. He unlocked it and gestured for Kendall to walk out.

"Alright let's go boys. James, I'll need to call your parents and tell them I'm dropping you off." Mama Knight said looking back at him as the group walked out of the police station towards the parking lot. James hung his head low. He hasn't spoken to his mother in days, and he knew he wasn't welcome at the house. "James?" He looked up and saw Mama Knight standing there with her cell phone in hand.

"Um. No there's no need to call her. I-I…um… actually been staying at a friend house. So, I can give you her mom's number." James said nervously.

Mama Knight had a look of concern on her face and looked over at Kendall. He hung his head down. He knew the truth of why James didn't want his mother called, and he could tell Mama Knight was looking at him for answers. But it wasn't his truth to tell. It was James's.

"James, I'm sure your mother would like to know your okay." Mama knight said.

"Mom, please. Let's just take him to his friends." Kendall said as he looked at James noting the uncomfortable look in James's eyes.

"Oh okay… James, what's their number?" She asked. You could see Mama Knight knew there was something strange going on, but she didn't want to push. James gave her the number and she called Jo's mom. When she answered, she explained what happened and that she would be dropping James off soon. Jo's mom thanked Jennifer and they both hung up. The three got in the car, Kendall and James shared the backseat together. Kendall interlaced their hands together and smiled at James. James leaned over and pecked him on the cheek and whispered, "Thanks for being my knight in shining armor."

Kendall's POV:

I sunk down into the couch right as soon as we got him. I let out a sigh of relief as I started to relax after the day I had. A smile crept across my face when I thought about James calling me his boyfriend.

"Kendall, start explaining." My mom said as she stood in front of me with her arms crossed.

"Okay so you remember the guy I was telling you about that was going to spread rumors about James if I didn't break up with him?" Mom nodded her head and I continued, "Well, I did what you said and explained everything to James, and we were on our date at the pizza place where Jett, that's the guy, showed up. We all were leaving peacefully when Jett threw something at me, and suddenly I just snapped and fought him. I would do it again if it meant protecting James." Tears started forming in my eyes. I quickly wiped them away. "Mom, James as already been through enough. His home life is a mess. His mom beats him. That's why he is staying with Jo. I couldn't let someone else make his life m-miserable." I finished saying as I started sobbing into my hands.

I soon felt hands on my back and weight on the cough beside me. My mom pulled me close into a hug. You could hear her starting to cry. "Since when did I raise such a sweet boy." She said proudly. We sat there for a few minutes. I soon wiped away my tears and sat up.

"Kendall, I think I should have a word with his mother." Mom said standing up walking over to her purse grabbing her phone.

"W-what, mom no! James wouldn't want that. That could cause more issues." I said standing and walking towards her. She held up her finger as she put the phone to her ear.

I faintly heard a voice on the other side of the line. "Child Protective Services, this is Amanda. How may I direct your call?"

"Hi, yes this is Jennifer Knight. I would like to report suspected child abuse." She said in a flat tone. My mom started giving information that she knew, even giving them Jo's mom number to use as a witness. Mom hung up the phone and quickly dialed another number.

"Mrs. Taylor. This is Jennifer Knight again. Listen, you should be getting a call from CPS soon, it's about James. We need to protect him and see that his mom finds justice. No mother should hit their child"

A/N: What will happened between James and his mother now that CPS is involved? Mama Knight is going mama bear mode. Just wait for the next chapter when an even bigger confrontation occurs. Please review and leave you thoughts!
