Chase heard Maverick, he looked around frantically, the Shepherd was never so scared in his life.
"Aw, is the wittle wolfy scared?" Maverick asked as he started approaching Chase.
"No, no, no. I'm just hearing things." Chase whimpered as he was laying down, his paws covering his eyes. "You're not real." The Shepherd assured.
"Why don't you look and see for yourself?" Maverick asked.
Chase looked up and saw Maverick, fear overwhelming the pup.
"You were always afraid and weak. You thought you stopped me? Ha! You're not even close!" Maverick laughed.
"I'm not weak, and I'm not scared of you!" Chase yelled out as he pounced on Maverick and brought his claws to his neck. "What do you want from me?!" Chase asked, digging his claws deeper.
All Maverick did was just laugh.
"Go ahead, kill me Chase, watch what happens." Maverick said, smiling deviously.
"Chase, what're you doing?!" Skye asked in a shocked tone.
Chase looked at Skye and looked back to see that Maverick wasn't there, only Marshall.
"Chase?" Skye asked in a worried tone.
Chase got off Marshall, and realized that it was all in his head.
"Pups, I-I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me, I-."Chase apologized with frantic stutters.
"Chase, calm down, let's just get out of here, we'll talk about it back at the Lookout." Marshall assured as he comforted the paranoid police pup.
The pups were back, Marshall and Skye decided to go with the rest of the pups inside the Lookout, leaving the Shepherd alone.
Chase walked to the woods not far from the Lookout, needed some time away for a while.
"I knew I shouldn't have brought them with me, I mean, I nearly killed Marshall...again!" Chase shouted at himself.
Chase walked deeper into the woods and saw something odd,he saw a pup in the distance.
"Uh, hello?" The pup called from a distance.
No response.
Chase got closer and closer to the pup, he ended up right behind it, he noticed something familiar to the pup, before Chase even had a chance to talk, the pup spoke.
"Why did you do it Chase?"
"Wh-what? How do you-" Chase stopped and realized that it was Aurora.
"Why did you kill me?"
"I-I didn't have a choice!" Chase yelled as he tried backing away from the pup.
"I want you to look, LOOK at what you did!" Aurora yelled out, urging Chase to look.
"You knew I couldn't do anything, you were trying to kill me! What was I supposed to do?!" Chase asked trying not to look.
"Think of what you did, the consequences will soon come for you...how long will it be before you kill again?" Aurora asked as she forced Chase to look at her.
Chase was scarred from what he saw, dark soulless eyes staring right back at him. "No, leave me alone, please!" Chase cried out.
"Chase..."
"Chase.."
"Chase!"
The Shepherd woke up in his pup house, hitting his head as he stood up, he heard Skye, who was outside calling him.
"Chase, are you ok?" Chase heard the aviator pup ask.
Chase opened the door from his pup house and stumbled out, falling to the ground.
"Chase, I heard you talking to yourself in your sleep, are you...are you ok?" Skye asked with a concerned tone.
"No, not really." Chase replied as he stood back up.
"Chase, you can tell me." Skye assured, placing her paw on him, attempting to comfort the Shepherd.
"I don't know Skye,I mean, I want to tell you but-."
"But you don't trust me?" Skye asked as she got her paw off of Chase.
"No, it's not that." Chase replied quickly.
"Then what is it?" Skye asked with a slight raise in her voice.
"Look, Skye, now isn't the time." Chase tried getting the cockapoo to leave him alone.
"Is it...about her?" Skye finally asked.
Chase didn't say anything, he just lowered his ears and turned away from Skye.
"Chase, look, don't blame yourself for it. You knew you couldn't do anything." Skye said as she placed her paw back on him, she knew it wasn't Chase's fault.
"Of course I can blame myself, she's dead because of me!" Chase yelled as he walked towards Skye.
Skye started backing up, becoming scared of Chase.
"Chase, you're scaring me, I just want to help you." Skye said whimpering.
Chase stopped and turned around facing away from Skye.
"Go..."Chase finally said.
"Wh-what?" Skye stammered.
"I said go, Skye." Chase ordered.
"Chase, if you let me, I can help you." Skye tried to assist the pup.
"Oh, and what're you going to do, Skye? Nothing is going to help me, you don't know what I've been through, now GO!" Chase yelled.
Chase sighed and lowered his ears.
"Skye, just go, I need to get my mind off things." Chase calmly stated as he glanced away from the Cockapoo.
"Chase, you know I love and care about you, I don't like seeing you like this." Skye assured as she got closer to the Shepherd.
"I know, but it's just...back at the warehouse, you saw what happened, I almost killed Marshall again and what happened with Aurora is putting pressure on me." Chase briefly explained.
"Chase, why did you do that? Almost kill Marshall? What happened?" Skye asked as she leaned in on the pup, showing her concern.
"I...I can't say it." Chase sighed.
"Chase, please tell me." Skye faced the pup.
All Chase did was sigh.
"There's nothing to stop you, huh?" Chase asked before continuing.
"I...I saw Maverick, I heard his voice and I thought I was hearing things but when I looked up, he was right in front of me, I couldn't take it anymore, I just lost it and pounced on him, if you weren't there, Marshall would probably be...dead, it didn't take me long to realize that it was all in my head." Chase explained.
Skye was shocked when she heard that, she hugged Chase and teared up.
"Chase, we need to find out what's going on." Skye said.
"I know but I think I need to find this out by myself.
"But Chase-" Skye was cut off.
"Skye I don't want to put you or the other pups in danger, I'm going back." Chase assured as he hugged Skye back.
"Chase, just don't go now, go another day, take some time to get your mind off it." Skye suggested.
"Ok, you know, let's just get out of here, play some Pup Pup Boogie and spend some time with the pups. Act like a normal family again." Chase took her suggestion.
"We've never been a normal family?" Skye asked with some hurt in her voice.
"We haven't been a normal family ever since...you know...and then Maverick came along...and now this." Chase replied.
"Yeah...you're right." Skye sadly agreed.
"Hey, just forget about it, come on, let's go." Chase said leading Skye behind him.
"Maybe one day, we'll be a normal family again." Chase thought.
