~Time Skip~
It has been 6 months since the last chapter.
"Alright boys, you ready?" Jennifer Knight said as she pulled into the school parking lot. Kendall and James were sitting in the backseat, dressed up for the special occasion. Katie turned around from the passenger seat. "So, Kendall, when you move off to college, I am throwing away all your stuff and turning your room into my new office!"
Kendall rolled his eyes and smiled, "Office for what Katie? To organize all your pretty ponies." He said in a mocking tone. James giggled, "Come on Kendall, let the girl dream!" He said gesturing towards Katie.
"Yeah, Kendall listen to your boyfriend! Let me dream!" Katie said smiling.
Kendall looked over at James and leaned over to kiss him. He loved when people called James his boyfriend. He was madly in love with James and so proud of how far the boy has come since all that has happened.
James was essentially an orphan since his dad died and his mom was in prison. He lived with Jo until he turned 18 last month. Kendall just happened to turn 18 three months ago, and with long talk with Mrs. Taylor and Mama Knight. Both women agree to let the now adults move in together. They rather they do stuff under their roofs than sneaking out somewhere.
So, for the last two month, James and Kendall have been sharing his room until they move off to college.
They both applied to UCLA and were accepted. They applied for all financial aid available and just waiting for approval. They both knew they would be approved; their academic status was excellent, and both come from poor income homes. The only issue was the book situation at least it was in James's case. Mama Knight could only afford for Kendall's and Mrs. Taylor had Jo to worry about.
Once their summer starts both boys are planning on getting jobs to save up money for James. They just hoped it would be enough.
"Boys, we need to go. You guys need to be lined up, ready and in your cap and gown before the ceremony. Let's go." Mama Knight said as she started to get out of the parked car. The kids followed after her and started walking towards the school. They parted ways as the boys met with fellow students.
Welcome to the Graduation Ceremony of the Seniors
of Palm Woods High School
The auditorium was crowded with family members and friends of the soon to be graduates. The room was flooded with sounds of people talking and laughing as they waited for the ceremony to begin. After 10 minutes or so, The curtain on the stage opened as the principal, Kelly Wainwright made her way to the podium on the front. Behind her, all the graduates sat in their caps and gowns facing the crowd.
"Um excuse me…. Hi. Hi Everyone! Please be seated and thank you all for joining us! I would like to welcome you all to this year's graduation ceremony!" She said smiling as she and the rest of the crowd began clapping.
"We are so proud of our students, and we are so excited to see them all continue on in this journey of life. Before I begin the procession of students, I have a few scholarships to announce, and when I do-." She turned towards the graduates and holding up three envelopes.
"- I ask that the lucky recipients to please step forward."
She opened the first one and smiled as she read it aloud.
"For achieving the highest GPA in his class and competing in all academic competitions, we would like to present Most Academic Scholarship of $5,000 to any school of their choosing, I present this to this year's valedictorian Logan Mitchell!" She began clapping and gestured for Logan to come to the stage.
Logan stood up and waved as he heard he family and friends cheering his name. He shook Kelly's hand and posed for a photo holding the envelope. He turned and faced his peers immediately locking eyes with Carlos who was beaming with joy. Carlos mouthed, 'I love you, Logie Bear' as Logan walked back to his seat. Logan blushed as he sat down, and he looked past the people to look at Carlos. 'I love you too' He mouthed back causing the Latino to blush and giggle.
"Congratulations Logan, now for the next lucky student." She said as she opened the second envelope.
"For a $2000 scholarship from our theatre department, Camille Roberts! for the Julliard School of performing arts for her years as the Drama President."
Camille stepped forward and posed as claimed her award quickly returning to her seat.
"The final award will be awarded anonymously. The person responsible for this request us to present this award to a student who is in desperate need of financial help. They said this student's story has affected them in many ways. So, we wish to award the Dream of Success scholarship of $5,000 to...
James Diamond."
James looked stunted. He could barely hear the clapping that erupted from the crowd as she called his name because his mind remained out of focus as his thoughts were racing. He never won anything in his life. His face turned bright red as the whole audience and his peers all had their eyes fixed on him. He felt anxiety creep into his soul at the thought of walking up alone.
"Psst... Psst… James…Jamie…...Baby."
James soon turned and looked at Kendall who was whispering to him. Kendall bent down as he walked carefully past the people in his row over to James.
"Hey Jamie, you're okay…. Come on baby..." Kendall whispered as he stood and pulled James to his feet and guided him towards the podium. When they got close, Kendall let James go and returned to his seat.
"You deserve this, Mrs. Diamond. I'm so proud of you." Kelly whispered as she grabbed James's hand and turned him to get his picture taken with the award. James smiled sheepishly and quietly thanked her and turned to quickly returned to his seat.
"Alright folks! Let's get this started. Logan would you please come up and give your speech as our valedictorian." Kelly said as she turned toward Logan. He soon came up and delivered his speech, afterwards, Kelly soon began calling the student one by one alphabetically to accept their diplomas.
Once the ceremony was over, the crowd dispersed and met with their graduate for pictures.
Mama Knight, Katie, and Mrs. Taylor waited for Jo, Kendall, and James.
"James! Oh honey! We are so proud of you! Congratulations! Proud of all of you" Mrs. Taylor said as she hugged him and soon hugged the others.
"Thanks, thanks everyone." James said sheepishly as he was still in shock for the whole ordeal and hugged everyone.
"Jo, we should get going before the traffic gets crazy." Mrs. Taylor said as she was finishing her goodbye with Mama Knight. Jo nodded her head and quickly hugged Kendall and held James in a longer hug.
"James, you will always be my best friend, and my brother. I love you and so happy for you. For you both. Promise to call me tomorrow so we can all hang out before I fly out to Paris for the summer." Jo said looking at James with tears in her eyes.
"Of course.. love ya sis." James said with a smile.
Jo nodded and said bye to Katie and Mama Knight. The Knight family and James walked out to the parking lot as it was clearing as families were leaving.
"KENDALL! JAMES!" Carlos yelled as he left his parents and Logan standing on the sidewalk as he ran towards his friends immediately throwing his arms around the both of them almost knocking them over.
"Oh sorry…BUT GUESS WHAT" He said excitedly.
"What Los?" the boys said in unison. Carlos then held up his left hand and pointed to the ring that was now on his finger. "Logan proposed!" He said jumping up and down. Kendall and James both let out a gasp and smiled as they both went to hug the Latino. They soon looked towards Logan who was still talking with not only his parents but Officer Garcia and Carlos's mom. Logan waved and smiled at the boys as he continued to talk. Kendall and James threw him a thumbs up.
"I should get back to them, but we'll come by tomorrow to celebrate! Wanna go to the pizza shop?!" The Latino asked with a huge smile on his face. Kendall and James agreed as they hugged Carlos again and soon walked to the car to join Mama Knight and Katie.
"What was that about?" Mama Knight asked as the boys got in.
"Logan proposed to Carlos." Kendall said as he grabbed James hand.
"Oh, how exciting! I love going to weddings... Hint Hint" She said as she pulled out of the parking lot while looking at Kendall raising her eyebrows.
Kendall smiled and rolled his eyes. "one day mom." He said looking at James and leaned in to kiss him.

10 years later…
It was December 24
"Kendall! Logan and Carlos are here!" Mama Knight yelled from front door as she opened it. "Merry Christmas guys!" Logan and Carlos stepped in and hugged Mama Knight wishing her a Merry Christmas.
Kendall walked into the living room from the kitchen wiping his hands on the apron around his waist.
"Well. Well, if it isn't the Mitchell's!" He said smiling as he walked forward hugging both of them.
"How was the trip? Any good news?" Kendall asked as he gestured for them to sit on the couch.
"Well… we right now we are waiting for the surrogate agency to send their representative to the hospital to examine her and the doctors to give an all-clear, but tomorrow we will be able to pick up our daughter. Our little Leora Joanna Mitchell" Logan said proudly as he looked over at Carlos who was smiling from ear to ear.
"OH! Kendall, you should see her. LOOK!" Carlos said as he pulled out the phone to show Kendall the pictures from the birth. Some of Logan and Carlos standing over her, some of Carlos and Logan doing skin to skin therapy, and some of them feeding her. She had some dark hair like her fathers and a light brown skin tone that seemed to match a blend of Logan and Carlos's. If it was possible, you would think that she was fully theirs. They been trying for a kid since Logan graduated Med school and Carlos complete his police training at the academy 2 years ago. Logan tried to donate but his wasn't capable to produce a child much to his disappointment. But either way, he was thrilled because this time they used Carlos and were successful.
"Wow, guys… she's beautiful. I hope that we-"Kendall began to say as he was cut off by James who walked into the living room.
"-we all can have a playdate now" James finished as he smiled at Kendall before leaning in for a kiss before turning to hug the boys.
"James, look! Isn't she great?" Carlos said as he showed him the pictures. James and Carlos began talking over the photos as Kendall and Loga began talking about bringing Leora over.
Soon the patter of little footsteps came running down the hall.
"Daddy! Daddy! My list for Santa!" shouted the blonde toddler as we ran straight to Kendall, who immediately scooped up the 3 soon to be 4-year-old. "Wow! Good job buddy! Go show daddy" Kendall said reading the paper and hugging the boy before setting him back down on the ground so he can run over to James. James smiled as he picked up his son. "Let me see! Oh my gosh, you even spelled your name! I'm so proud. Can you read it to me?" James said pointing to the child's name.
"R-Ryan Joseph Knight" The 3-year-old slowly said.
"Very good! Go show grandma and aunt Katie" James said kissing the boy on the forehead and letting him jump out of his lap.
Kendall and James were lucky, they didn't exactly use a surrogate. After they got married after college, Jo volunteered to be that for them. She knew how bad they wanted children, and thankful her and Kendall both share blonde hair and green eyes so the baby would have the same features as his dads.
In honor of her, they named him Joseph.
For Ryan, Kendall chose to name him after James's dad. He knew that would mean a lot to James being his dad was the only person in the world who meant something to him. James cried for days when Kendall told him, he was so moved by it.
After college, Kendall graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and was part time Athletic Director for a LA Kings Hockey League and part time PE teacher at Palm Springs High School. He enjoyed not only participating in his love of hockey but being able to be around kids and helping them find joy in being physical and exercising.
He also loved he got to work with his husband.
James Knight went on to obtain his degree in Social Work and became a social worker with the school system to help kids in need. He took his own personal journey and now uses his experience to look for cries of help for those in need.
James Knight promised to himself that he would make the kids feel like they were
