If there was anyone in Jellystone that was the bravest of them all, it was the town hero El Kabong. He would put everything on the line to make sure the children of this town had good education and for the adults to sleep peacefully at night.
And boy, would that statement become literal.
It had rained that particular day, the sad residents were at city hall. Mayor Huckleberry had just revealed a new statue in town and now he was offering a speech.
"The mark that El Kabong left on this town shall not be forgotten," Huckleberry said on the podium. "He lived a hero and he died a hero. And what town would we be if we didn't honor his name"
About 2 weeks ago, at Jellystone elementary, the students were out in the yard for recess. Yakky, Shag, and Augie were playing ball. Shag kicks the ball so hard, it bounces over the fence.
"Shag!" Yakky said.
"Now one of us is gonna have to go over and get it," Augie said.
"Well it's not gonna be me!" Shag said.
"It's not gonna be me either," Yakky said. The three of them decided to do rock paper scissors. Augie ended up winning so she climbed over the fence and went to retrieve the ball. However the ball rolled into the street so she ran into traffic to get the ball. As she picked it up, a truck came speeding into frame.
Yakky and Shag get over the fence just in time to see the truck come into frame, the town suddenly becomes a slow motion montage.
"Augie, look out!" Shag said. Augie picks up the ball and turns to see the truck approaching her. Wally Gator, who was driving, was desperately trying to slam the brakes in time but to no avail.
Augie closed her eyes as she prepared to get hit by the truck.
Until Suddenly:
KABONG!
Augie is sent flying across the street, landing safely on the sidewalk. As she opens her eyes, she sees a person on the floor, a black cape covers their top half.
Is the person who save them Mr-
"OH MY GOD SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!"
That was the voice of Squiddly Diddly, who ran out of her store to see the commotion. Soon, other residents came onto the scene, screaming and panicking.
Approaching Augie from behind was her father Doggie Daddy, who tackled her into a hug.
"Oh Augie sweetie, are you okay?" Doggie Daddy said giving her 50 kisses.
"I'm okay Dad but what about-" Augie began.
"Don't worry, the ambulances are on their way," Doggie Daddy said, steering her away from the mess that was her teacher's corpse. "Your teacher is gonna be fine"
But he was not fine, as Mr Kabong was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Cindy announced it to the town one day in city hall.
"We did all we could to save him," Cindy said. "But unfortunately his injuries were too severe for us to do anything"
Everyone gasped and put their heads down in respect, a few sobs can be heard from the crowd.
Doggie Daddy holds his daughter close to him. El Kabong's death made him realize that if he hadn't stepped him, Augie would be gone. And he is feeling very thankful that his daughter was still here. Without her, he would have nothing left of his late wife Carol.
Now we're back to the present day, Huckleberry has just unveiled a new statue and school has been out for 2 weeks due to the school no longer having a teacher. While most of the town had moved on, there were a few individuals who couldn't move on. Some that were very close to El Kabong: His students, Jabberjaw, and love of his life Bobbie Louie.
How would they ever move on without their hero?
