Night fell in Adventure Bay as the small town was still overrun with feral pups, Ryder wasn't sure how they would fix this but one thing was certain, their time was running out.

"Ryder?" Zuma called out to his leader.

"Yes? What is it Zuma?" Ryder asked.

"Has Chase called in yet?" Zuma asked.

"No, it's been a couple of hours, it's night and I'm getting worried. I might go and try to find him." Ryder suggested.

"Ryder, I don't think that's a good idea, you'll get hurt or worse." Zuma assured.

"I don't see that I have a choice Zuma." Ryder stated.

"No...no, you do have a choice Ryder. You can either stay with us or you can go out there and risk life and limb for Chase, he's fine, I know he is." Zuma said sternly.

Ryder pondered at the idea of leaving the pups and heading into town but in the end, he went against it until he heard an explosion.

"You can't save them."

"You never could, in the end you're just a weak shepherd with a monster inside him, soon they will be also."

The wolfified pup woke up, panting from the voices he heard, he soon realized where he was. He was at City Hall and near him was Skye who was close to being wolfified. He walked up to her and realized she was still unconscious from earlier. Chase managed to pick her up on his back and began to make his way to the Lookout, it wasn't going to be easy though, he had to walk to the Lookout with Skye on his back while the whole town was infested with feral pups, one wrong move and it's over.

Chase walked down the road, avoiding anyone he saw, he noticed Marshall's rig which was on its side he looked around and examined the damage done to it, he noticed that it was leaking and realized what was going to happen.

Marshall's rig was going to explode.

Chase tried running back but was tackled against the rig by a feral pup, knocking him and Skye down. Chase quickly got up and pinned the pup down, biting down on the pup's neck. He realized he was wasting more time attacking the pup so he quickly shoved it aside and put Skye on his back and tried getting away but he wasn't far enough, the explosion sent him and Skye flying back onto the windshield of a car, the force of the landing caused the shepherd to black out.

"The plan worked, we even have Marshall with us..." Rocky woke up upon hearing his friend's name. The pup heard paws clacking closer to him and as he looked as the door in front of him opened, he saw a bloodied Marshall next to Maverick and Sweetie.

"Marshall!" Rocky called out the Dalmatian's name but didn't get a respond from him rather he got one from Maverick.

"Don't bother, he's been out for a while, pup actually gave himself up for his friends, guess he wasn't as dumb as I thought." Rocky charged at the pup but couldn't. "Aww, did I hit a nerve?" Maverick said as he threw the pup to the ground. "I got a surprise for you Rocky." Maverick approached the pup with a collar on his paw, Rocky backed away from the pup upon looking at the collar. It was a modified shock collar. Maverick put the collar on the pup and began to explain. "Since you don't want to help me and change your ways, I'll just force you to." Maverick said smiling at the pup. "You didn't want to help me before I went to Adventure Bay this morning so I figured I would have to change my ways of forcing you because asking nicely clearly didn't do a damn thing." Maverick said as Sweetie brought a tub filled with water into the room.

"Trust me Rocky, you're going to wish you never said no to me."

Chase slowly began to wake up and as he did, he noticed a pup looking over him and Skye, it was a golden retriever, he struggled getting up as the pup spoke.

"Expecting someone else?" The pup asked. "Hey woah relax, I'm not going to hurt you."

Chase didn't believe the pup for a second. "Yeah I've heard that one before." The shepherd got up but stumbled due to the pain.

The pup approached Chase. "Look, I'm not going to hurt you, I just helped you and your friend there." The pup said as she helped Chase get up.

Chase kept silent as he glared at Skye he began to move his paw on her fur, showing guilt on his face.

"Don't worry, she's fine, you should worry about yourself, that explosion really did a number on you." The pup said as she examined Chase's back.

"I'm a fast healer." Chase regretted that word as he immediately felt a sharp pain on his side.

The pup help set Chase back down, lying him down next to Skye. "Just rest okay? Those wounds aren't going to heal faster if you're constantly moving."

Chase looked at the pup. "What's your name anyway?"

"It's Catherine, just call me Cathy. Rest up okay?" Catherine smiled at the wolfified pup and kept watch.

Rocky has genuine fear in his eyes, he knew what Maverick was going to do to him.

"Don't bother struggling Rocky, it's useless. I'll be right back, watch Marshall, make sure he doesn't try anything once he wakes up." Maverick said as he left the room.

Sweetie gave a nod to the pup as Rocky kept struggling.

"Did you not just hear him, there's no point in struggling, luv." Sweetie smiled at the pup.

Rocky stopped and looked at the pup.

"I knew you were a bad pup but I never thought you'd stoop this low." Rocky said to the terrier.

"You think about me? That's sweet of you, but after you and the rest of the Paw Patrol foiled my plans to rule Barkingburg, what other choice did I have?" Sweetie asked to the pup.

"Sweetie, we only wanted what was best for you, Rubble even saved you once. You have to trust me on this, Maverick is lying to you." The mix got as close as he could've to the Terrier. "Once he gets what he wants, he'll leave you for dead." Rocky explained to Sweetie.

She looked down at the floor and thought it over. "Even...even if he is lying, I'll be able to handle myself and I'm taking that chance."

At that moment Maverick walked in, luckily to Sweetie, he didn't hear what she or Rocky said.

"So, Rocky, are you ready to help me?" Maverick asked the pup.

Rocky kept quiet and spat in Maverick's face. He wiped the spit of his muzzle and showed a syringe to Rocky.

"Now that really isn't a good idea, Rocky...unless you want to be infected, I'm still keeping my word, but that might change." Maverick said to the pup as he got closer.

"We'll leave the shock session for later, but for now...how's your fear of water?" Maverick grabbed the back of Rocky's head and forced it down the tub full of water, drowning the pup.

Sweetie looked in shock as Maverick was drowning the pup, she didn't notice Marshall was slowly waking up, about to see what was happening.

"Ro-Rocky? Rocky!" Marshall got up but was soon pinned down by Sweetie. "Let go! Let me go!" Marshall yelled out as he saw Maverick continue to drown the poor pup.

"Ah, the guest of honor has finally woken up, you're just in time to see this mix finally kick the bucket." Maverick said as he finally let Rocky get some air. "Unless he has a sudden change of heart."

Rocky coughed and gasped for air as Maverick spoke to the two. "So, are you going to help me or not?"

Rocky looked at Sweetie and Marshall who were both in shock, seeing what the pup was going through. "I'd rather die than help you."

"No...please stop!" Marshall cried out. "Please don't do this..."

Maverick realized that the pup finally made his choice. "Have it your way then." The pup forced Rocky's head back down into the tub as his vision was getting blurrier by the second.

"No!!" Marshall cried out as tears formed in his eyes, Sweetie took note of this and how crazy Maverick really was, she couldn't bear it anymore so she called out to the pup.

"Maverick, stop, he isn't going to be much use if he's dead." Sweetie stated.

Maverick pulled the poor pup's head out of the water and released his grasp on him, letting him hit the ground and letting him catch his breath again. "I know that, I wasn't going to kill him, I'm just letting the pup know what's going to happen to him from now on." Maverick looked at pup then at Marshall who was still sobbing. "Don't cry now Marshall, it's just a taste of things to come, and you should consider yourself lucky you're not going through all that pain he's going through. Don't chain him up, by the time we're back, the infection should begin to slowly kick in." Maverick smiled at the pup and walked away with Sweetie, who was starting to rethink her whole affiliation with the insane Shepherd.

The two pups were alone, Rocky finally caught his breath and got up. "Marshall, it's ok...I'm ok." Rocky assured the pup who had tears stained on his muzzle. "I...I almost lost you...and I couldn't do anything about it...Rocky I'm——." Marshall was cut off.

"Marshall...look at me, I'm ok." Rocky assured the Dalmatian that he was fine but in reality he wasn't, that was too close and he knows it. "So...you're infected. When did it happen?" Rocky asked the pup while clearing his throat. Marshall tried to avoid eye contact with the mix. "It...it happened when you decided to go after Skye when we told you not to." Marshall said with an attitude. He didn't mean it, he was just worried for Rocky, the thought of losing someone you care about isn't a very good one.

"Yeah, I'm...I'm sorry about that..." Rocky mumbled out.

"You-you're sorry? Your sorry doesn't mean anything, we're both captured, I'm infected and you're going to get tortured until you finally give in." Marshall yelled at the mix who now felt even worse for what he did.

"What did you want me to do?! I didn't want to lose Skye, it wouldn't matter anyway, if it wasn't me then it would've been Chase if his paws weren't messed up!" Rocky yelled back, the two were now furious with each other. "Trust me, Chase would've done the same thing, he's done it before, what makes you think he won't do it again? It doesn't matter, as long as Skye's in trouble, he won't care about us." Rocky stated.

Marshall couldn't believe the stubborn mix, even after what's been happening, he still thinks Chase is out for himself. "If you didn't become so stubborn you would've realized that Chase isn't like that, for pup's sake, he injected himself with that syringe just to save us. Stop looking at him like he's the bad pup when he's not, the bad pup is the one that has us here in the first place!" Marshall yelled at the mix who he was finally getting through with. "Why are you still mad at him, because he killed Aurora? Why can't you get it through your thick head that he didn't have another choice, if he didn't kill her most of us would probably be infected, Chase did the right thing!"

Rocky stood there in silence, he knew that Marshall was right, but after all that's happened, he just couldn't forgive Chase. He looked away from Marshall.

"Look, I'm sorry for lashing out like that but it's true, and I was just...scared for you and Skye, I thought we lost the both of you. But please for the love of pup forget about what Chase did and focus on the bigger problem. You're the only one who can, I don't know how much time I have before I go feral." Marshall said approaching the mix and placing a paw on him.

Rocky sighed and finally answered.

"I'll try but first we got to find a way out of here." The mix said as he looked for a way out.

Minutes passed by the trio to what seemed like hours to them. Catherine kept a watchful eye in case anything happened, she was tired but she had to keep watch, everything was quiet until the two heard the sound of a vehicle engine close by.

Chase ears perked up at the sound and he glanced at Catherine, wondering why there was a sound of a vehicle engine close by. The Retriever decided to take a look at the street and saw an ATV with its lights still on in the distance, precisely where the explosion happened.

"What do you see?" Chase asked the Retriever.

"I see an ATV, where I dragged you and Skye from." Catherine answered while still looking at the ATV. "There's someone there, I think it's a kid?" Chase immediately got up and looked at what the Retriever was looking at and to his suspicion it was who he thought it was.

It was Ryder.

"Oh no, what's he doing here by himself?" Chase asked to himself. "He's going to get himself hurt. I gotta help him." Chase stood up and was about to leave.

"Woah, are you crazy, you'll get killed out there, you can't even run on account of your injuries." Catherine stated to the Shepherd.

"So what? You want me to leave him? That's not happening!" Chase quietly yelled to the Retriever.

"I'm not saying that we leave him, you stay here, and I'll find a way to him and bring him back here, ok?" Catherine looked at the pup, hoping for an agreement.

"Fine, but I won't wait long. Just make sure Ryder's safe." Chase said.

"Don't worry I will, I'll be back as soon as possible." Catherine said as she hopped over a fence and went towards where Ryder was. The Golden Retriever was a sneaky pup, she barely made a sound passing the feral pups on her way to Ryder. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally saw Ryder in the distance. She saw the boy with what looked like a flashlight and a tranquilizer gun in his hands, she made her way through the alleyways and finally caught up to the boy.

"Ryder! Hey!" Catherine whispered to the boy who immediately raised his flashlight and tranquilizer gun to the pup. "Hey! Put that down, I'm not going to hurt you, I'm here to help!" Catherine stated to the boy.

"Where's Chase and Skye?" Ryder asked, still aiming the tranquilizer at the pup.

"They're fine, they are safe but we're not going to be if we stay here, come on, we got to go!" Catherine motioned for the boy to follow him.

"How do I know I can trust you?" Ryder asked.

"Look, you just have to—watch out!" Catherine yelled out as a feral pup was about to pounce on Ryder, luckily he managed dodge it, making it hit a car and causing the alarm to go off.

"Oh no, Ryder we got to go, we don't have time, follow me!" Catherine yelled out as she motioned the boy to follow her. They soon heard howling come closer and closer to them.

The two ran into the alleyway and to the other side of the street with feral pups right on their trail. They continued to run down the road and realized they were trapped, Ryder in a last ditch effort, grabbed Catherine and jumped through the window of a building that was next to them, the two landed inside and Ryder got up, quickly dragging something to cover up the window, it didn't do much but it bought the two some time.

"Where's Chase and Skye?" Ryder asked frantically while keeping an eye on the now barricaded window.

"They aren't that far from here, we just have to go down the street and we'll meet up with them but we have to find another way around." Catherine planned.

"Ok, any idea on how we can get out of here?" Ryder looked around for anything that can help.

"Come on, let's check upstairs, maybe there something we can use." Ryder stated as he slowly went up the stairs with Catherine right behind him. He pushed up to the doors and slowly opened the nearest one, he shined his flashlight in the room but there was nothing, as he exited the room, he quickly moved on to the next one as he heard a noise come from there. Ryder motioned for Catherine to stay back as he prepared to kick the door. The boy kicked the door opened with all of his force and aimed his tranquilizer.

"Oh my goodness..." Ryder kept his tranquilizer aimed but he was met with a depressing sight, a dead couple holding hands and a feral pup eating them. The feral pup turned around and charged at the boy, it was too quick for him to shoot in time and pounced on him, making him stumble and fall out of the room. Catherine jumped at the sight but noticed Ryder's tranquilizer in front of her, she slid it to the boy and he shot a dart into the pup and knocked it back into the room.

"Ryder, are you ok?" Catherine asked as she peered into the room that the pup came from.

"Yeah I'm fine, thanks for that." Ryder stood up and went into the room where the pup was and just stood there with sorrow on his face. "I can't believe it came to this, these people didn't deserve this, they didn't do anything."

Catherine stood there feeling sorry for the boy. "Ryder, Chase is waiting for us, we have to keep moving." The retriever stated while putting a paw on his shoulder. "There should be a way out through the back, those feral pups most likely lost interest."

Catherine left the room as Ryder put the knocked out pup outside the room and shut the door. He soon caught up with Catherine.

"Ok, let's try to be as quiet as possible, follow me." Catherine said as she left the building with Ryder.

Chase lied down trying not to fall asleep, he had too many things on his mind and he had to keep watch.

He was worrying about Ryder and Catherine, how he was going to save Rocky and Marshall, how was he going to protect all of them?

"I'm just one pup..." Chase said to himself.

"One pup with a special gift."

"Not a special gift, it's a horrible curse."

Chase was losing his mind, he heard the voices before but they were never this often. Now, they were coming back, most likely due to him being a wolfified pup again.

The pup was close to falling asleep until he heard noises near him, he was alert and in a defensive position. He looked toward the direction the noises were coming from and was ready.

But, to his surprise, it was Catherine and Ryder who finally came back.

"Ryder! Oh thank goodness you're okay!" Chase said as he went up to the boy. "Why did you even come down here, I told you and the pups to just head back to the Lookout."

"Yeah I know, Zuma and I kind of had a argument about that, I was going to stay with the pups until I heard that explosion at City Hall, what'd you want me to do? Just stay at the Lookout and worry that my pup is probably dead?" Ryder questioned the pup.

"Hey, now is not the time to talk about that, we've all had a rough day, let's just call it a night, ok? Chase, you need more rest then all of us." Catherine said.

Chase stood silent for a bit.

"She's right, once morning hits we have to head back to the Lookout and get everyone out of Adventure Bay." Ryder advised.

"But where are they going to go? Farmer Yumi's? That isn't a well secured place if you ask me and it's near the town." Chase said.

"Well, what do you think we should do?" Catherine asked.

"Get them on the Paw Patroller and get out of Adventure Bay, head to the jungle where Carlos is, head to the mountain, head anywhere that's far away from Adventure Bay!" Chase said. "Once we are sure everyone is safe, then we go after Maverick. He's somewhere in Adventure Bay, I just haven't figured where yet." Chase rubbed his head, thinking about it.

"What about the warehouse where you first saw him again?" Ryder asked.

"Can't be, I've been there recently." Chase replied.

"Yeah, but think about it rationally, he's always around when we least expect it so that means he has to be somewhere very close." Ryder said.

"If it's one thing he's good at, it's hiding in plain sight." Chase stated.

"Ok, we have a lot to do in the morning, let's just hope we can get through all of it, goodnight pups." Ryder said before lying down and shutting his eyes.
