The sun was setting over Adventure Bay and everyone was gearing up for what was going to happen.
"Alright everyone gather up!" Chase ordered. "This is it, the plan is we drop Ryder, Katie and Goodway at Farmer Al's and then we head up the mountains and find the place. Once we're inside we find Maverick and take him out." Chase explained.
"Something tells me it's a bit more complicated than that." Zuma said.
"It is, but that's our main priority." Chase reassured.
"What about Marshall and Skye?" Everest asked.
"We find them and get them both out, Maverick is going to be too worried about his plans to focus on Skye and Marshall." Chase answered.
"What about Rocky?" Zuma asked.
"I think...I think we all know the answer to that one." Chase said. "It's something I don't want to do but if he leaves me no other choice then I'll have to do it before he causes more problems." Chase answered to Zuma.
The Labrador couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Rocky's one of our own though, he's like family..." Zuma said.
"I know..." Chase said in a depressed tone.
The pups looked at each other with sorrowful looks.
"Is everyone ready?" Chase asked.
"May I add something? It's just that...if we do this, we'll be going in short-handed." Catherine said.
"You mean because he took Skye, Marshall, and Rocky?" Everest asked rhetorically.
"Well that and is also because he probably has a lot of pups to help him out, pups that have nothing to lose but their lives. I just wanted to make that clear to everyone." Catherine added.
"Got it." Zuma said as the other pups agreed to what Catherine said.
Everyone gathered and headed out to the Paw Patroller together.
The ride to Farmer Al's was a quiet one, everyone knew what was going to happen but no one wanted to speak.
The Paw Patroller eventually stopped at Farmer Al's and the three got out of it.
Ryder went out last and turned to look at the pups.
"Good luck to all of you, be careful and finish the mission." Ryder had tears slowly coming out of his eyes.
The pups gathered up and hugged the boy.
"No job is too big..."
"No pup is too small!"
The pups finished hugging the boy as they wiped the tears from their eyes.
"Don't worry Ryder, we're the Paw Patrol, we're going to finish this." Chase reassured.
The boy hugged the Shepherd for what could be the last time and waved as they went off to the mountains.
It took a while but the pups finally made it to the mountain.
"You remember where it was right Chase?" Zuma asked.
"Yeah, I do. Robo-Dog, once you drop us off, leave this place and head back to the road, we don't want anyone trying to take the Paw Patroller from us." Chase said.
Robo-Dog barked in response and the pups headed to the hideout.
They stopped away from it but they can see it from a distance, the pups got out and started making their way towards the hideout as the Paw Patroller turned around.
"Stick close and to the plan everybody." Chase advised as they all went towards the hideout.
The pups were as sneaky as possible, they noticed that the entrance was empty, no one was guarding it so they went around.
"There was a way I came in through here but I don't think it can support our weight." Chase said to the others.
"We take the front entrance then?" Zuma asked.
"If that's the only choice we have then I guess so." Chase replied.
"What if we split up? Three take the front entrance and the other three go through here?" Catherine suggested.
The pups didn't like the idea of having to split up but that meant they could find Marshall and the others and find Maverick.
"It's up to you, Chase." Everest said.
Chase thought about it and decided it was best if they went in from two directions.
"Ok, Catherine, Tracker and I will take this way. Everest, Zuma and Rubble take the main entrance. If everything goes crazy, try to lose sight and regroup. Everyone got that?" Chase asked.
Everyone agreed and the team split up to their spots.
Chase, Tracker, and Catherine climbed onto the vents and they moved through the ventilation shaft. They took it slow through the vents and called the pups through the pup tags.
"Zuma? What's your position?" Chase whispered.
"Everything's good so far over here, Chase, we're going to get a pup to tell us where Rocky and the rest are." Zuma said through the pup tag.
"Alright, be careful." Chase warned as they kept crawling through.
Chase saw a vent and looked through the slits, not seeing anyone nearby, he pushed the vent cover down with all his strength and exited the ventilation shaft along with Catherine and Tracker.
Chase looked around and made sure the coast was clear, signaling for Catherine and Tracker to follow him.
Zuma, Everest, and Rubble made their way through the front entrance and snuck past multiple pups. They couldn't help but listen to the conversations.
"What do you think that mix is gonna do to that werepup?"
"I don't know, probably feed her to the feral pups we got locked up."
The pups looked at each other and knew that they had to find Skye and Marshall fast.
They turned a corner and saw multiple pups heading toward them, they turned back and got into a room close by, not noticing the pup that was in there.
They slowly turned around as they noticed the pup who just stood there, it took a while but the pup eventually tried making a run for it and ended up getting pinned down by Everest.
"Where is Rocky?" Zuma asked.
"I-I don't know!" The pup said in fear.
"Zuma, we don't have time for this!" Rubble said while frantically looking around.
"I know that but this pup might know where they are!" Zuma said as he looked at the pinned pup. "Where. Is. Rocky."
"I really don't know. Please just—!" The pup was hit with pain in his paw. He tried yelling out but Everest muffled his painful yell.
"Ok! Ok! Make a right past this door and at the end of the hall, he's probably there! Please just stop!" The pup cried out.
"What do we do with him?" Everest asked.
"Knock him out, we don't want him alerting anyone." Zuma ordered.
Everest did as the Labrador ordered and knocked the pup out, hiding his unconscious body close by.
The three pups exited the room and followed the directions the pup gave them. They made it to a room at the end of the hall and went inside. They looked around and saw Skye and Marshall chained up.
"Oh man, Everest help me get them out of those." Zuma ordered as he ran towards Marshall and Skye. "Rubble, keep an eye out."
The two pups tried getting the chains off the pups but couldn't, at that moment the pups heard paws clacking close by.
The three pups looked around but didn't see anything.
"Please...help me..." The pup that crawled out of the darkness was Sweetie, she had cuts and bruises across her body, her once clean and white fur now riddled with blood and scratch marks.
"Sweetie? What happened to you?" Rubble asked as he ran to the injured pup.
"It was Maverick...he found out what I was up to, he found out I recorded that video and sent it to you pups." Sweetie winced at the pain she received. "I should've listened to Rocky but I let my dream of ruling Barkingburg take over. I'm sorry, pups." Sweetie apologized.
"It's okay, we're going to get you and the others out." Rubble assured.
"No, just...get them out, he infected me a couple of hours ago." Sweetie pointed at the Dalmatian and Cockapoo. "Take this, it's the key to unlock the chains, Maverick doesn't know how sneaky I can be." Sweetie smiled. "Hurry, please. I don't know how long I have before I become feral like the others." Sweetie warned.
Rubble took the key from Sweetie and ran to Zuma and Everest, handing them the key to free the pups.
Zuma turned his pup tag on and called Chase. "Chase, we found Marshall,Skye, and Sweetie. No sign of Rocky though, we're getting them out."
"You sure about getting Sweetie out?" Chase asked through the pup tag.
"She helped us out but she's badly injured and infected, she wants us to leave her but we can't do that." Zuma explained.
"Decide quick then! It's not going to be long before they know we're here!" Chase stated.
Everest finished freeing the two pups and decided to give an answer herself.
"If Zuma won't say it then I will! We're going right now, if that's what Sweetie wants, that's what she's gonna get." Everest led the pups out of the room.
Rubble on the other hand didn't want to leave Sweetie.
"Just go Rubble, it's okay." Sweetie had tears come out of her eyes. "At least I did something good for once." Sweetie smiled.
Rubble was met with Everest's paw placed on his back.
"We have to go Rubble..." Everest said solemnly as she guided Rubble out of the room.
As Chase gave Zuma a decision, the trio were in a dangerous place, they looked around and saw feral pups all around them.
"That door." Chase pointed at the end of the hallway. "That could be where Maverick is."
As Chase finished pointing, an alarm echoed through the facility they were in. The pups picked the pace up and ran to the door, as they were running, the intercoms around the building were echoing with Maverick's voice.
"There's no point Chase, just give up like Rocky did!" Maverick tried persuading through the intercoms. "Release the feral pups." Maverick ordered to a pup that was close to him.
"But what about-?" They heard the pup getting cut off.
"Release all of the feral pups NOW!" Maverick finally ordered.
The pups reached the end of the hallway and made it to the door, it was stuck and the pups had to act fast if they wanted to keep going.
"I'll hold off the feral pups, you two get that door open!" Catherine ordered as he held the feral pups back.
It took some time but eventually the two pups got the door open and motioned for Catherine to come through. The Retriever made it to the door and stopped, ignoring the feral pups that were behind her.
"Catherine, what're you doing?! Let's go!" Chase questioned.
"I said I'd make things right, I'll buy you pups some time. Just go, Chase." Catherine said.
"Forget about all of that, we need you!" Chase pleaded for the pup to come with him.
"Chase! Do you trust me?" Catherine asked.
"I do." Chase answered.
"Then you understand why I have to do this, just promise me you'll find a way to save them, nobody else can." Catherine pushed Chase through the doorway and closed it behind her. The feral pups surrounded her as she closed her eyes. "I'm okay with this..." Catherine said one last time.
"Catherine!!" Chase clawed at the door as he was getting dragged away by Zuma, who managed to regroup with them.
"Why'd she do that?" Rubble questioned sadly.
Chase stood in silence and said an answer to the bulldog's question. "She did it so we'd keep going."
The pups looked at Chase with sorrow in their eyes. Everest walked up to the pup and placed her paw on him.
"Chase, we don't have time to mourn, we still have a job to do, let's finish it and go home." Everest advised.
Chase thought about the whole mission, things were barely going to plan and they didn't know how they were going to pull it off.
"No one is going home." Chase states as the pups looked at him with confusion.
