"What? What're you talking about?" Zuma asked.

"At the rate we're going, there's no chance we get out of this alive." Chase stated.

"So you're saying we should give up?" Everest questioned.

"No, I'm saying we level this place, destroy whatever we can. Maverick won't be able to keep going for long." Chase suggested the new plan.

"But what about Maverick?" Skye asked.

Chase sighed at the question. "You pups go out there and do as much damage as possible, I'll stay and take care of Maverick."

"What? No that's insane, you can't take out Maverick and escape, there's no time!" Skye protested.

"Skye, I've made my decision." Chase declared.

"Chase, please! We lost you once, we're not going to lose you again." Skye had tears in her eyes.

The pups didn't say a word between the two pups.

"Skye, It's my fault why this is happening, why all of this is happening. I have to stop it, it's a promise I made to Catherine." Chase said.

"Make a promise to us then!" Skye yelled out.

"What?" Chase questioned.

"Promise us you'll get out in time, we still need you...I still need you." Skye was pulled into a hug as Chase stood silent, not accepting the promise. As they hugged, Chase looked at his teammates who were also in tears knowing that this could be the last time they would see their police friend.

"We'll do it Chase, you have our word." Zuma assured as he wiped the tears from his muzzle.

"Thank you. Once you pups get out, head back to the Paw Patroller and get to Farmer Al's, if all goes well I'll call you pups on my pup tag." The pups got into a group hug.

"Good luck, brother." Marshall said while still hugging the pup.

The pups separated from the hug.

"If you run into Rocky, try to convince him to leave and if you can't...then do what you have to do." Chase went to the door and stopped. "Thanks for everything pups." Chase smiled as the pups looked at him one last time before leaving the room.

Chase went through another door with determination on his face, as he walked through he heard Maverick's voice through the intercom.

"Keep going Chase, I'm straight ahead, no one else is here besides me."

"I underestimated you, I really did, I knew it was a mistake leaving you alive."

"I made Rocky go after the other pups, I know this is something you've been waiting for since you failed last time."

Chase continued walking straight and noticed another door, he went through it and saw Maverick there, looking at him with a smile on his face.

"Let's end this, once and for all." Chase said with a serious look on his face.

"Yeah, let's see who's the last one standing." Maverick said as he got into a defensive position.

"Come on! This way!" Zuma shouted as he led the pups through the hallways.

The pups did some damage to the place, some rooms were already on fire as the pups left them. They made it to another room following Zuma but was soon stopped by the Labrador.

As the pups questioned to why he stopped, they looked ahead and saw Rocky looking at them.

"Rocky?" Zuma called out.

The Labrador was about to hug the pup but was held back by the pups, who were shaking their heads.

"What? Afraid I'll fight back?" Rocky asked.

The pups looked at the mix with concerned faces.

"What did he do to you?" Zuma asked.

"He tortured me! He almost killed me and Chase let it happen, he didn't do anything about it!" Rocky yelled out.

"You're wrong, he tried his best, we all did!" Marshall said at the mix.

"Just let us get you out of here and help you!" Skye added.

"Like Chase helped Aurora right?" Rocky didn't want to show it but tears were slowly coming out of his eyes. "He's selfish to the end, you pups don't see that but I do!"

"Ryder was hurt and we had a job to do! That was to protect the people of Adventure Bay! That's not his fault! He told you it was a trap but you didn't listen! Marshall got captured because of your actions and now look at him!" Zuma yelled out. "You let your stubbornness get the better of you and now look what happened, you hurt Skye because of some blood feud that doesn't matter anymore! We're not fighting you Rocky, come with us, we'll help you." Zuma truthfully said to the mix.

Rocky hesitated on attacking the pups, who were ready for what was going to happen, but instead the mix broke down in tears.

"I'm——I'm sorry pups! I'm so sorry!" Rocky cried through his breaking voice.

Zuma went up to the mix and hugged him.

"It's ok...look Rocky, we need to do more damage to this place, help us and we'll get out. We can be done with this, everything can go back to normal." Zuma explained as he hugged the pup tightly.

"This...this place should do some damage but I know where he made some samples, we can go there and destroy whatever's in there." Rocky explained as he cleared his throat.

"Alright, let's destroy this room then move on, lead the way when we're done Rocky." Zuma said to everyone.

The pups finished destroying whatever was in the room and followed Rocky.

"Chase, do you copy? We're almost done here! How's the situation on your end?" Zuma asked through the pup tag.

Chase was thrown a few feet across the room, as he got up, he heard his pup tag ring. He quickly answered it and heard Zuma's question.

"Don't worry about me, just keep going!" Chase said through breaths.

"What's wrong, tired?" Maverick asked.

"No, just angry..." Chase said as he rushed the Shepherd.

The pups fought for a while, Chase managed to get Maverick dizzy and jumped on top of the pup, biting most of his ear off in the process. Chase hopped off and the two gave each other some space for some time.

"Chase, we're done, samples are destroyed! We're heading back to the Paw Patroller, get out of there, the place is catching fire fast!" Chase heard through his pup tag.

Maverick looked at his pup tag and then at Chase. Within an instant, he rushed Chase, pinning the pup down in the process.

"You're gonna die alone, Chase!" Maverick said with a devious smile.

Chase was having trouble breathing due to the fact the Shepherd was choking him, pressing on the pup tag in the process. The Shepherd realized that one of his paws were free and stuck his claws on Maverick's side. Causing the pup to get off him.

Maverick held his side and realized he was bleeding pretty bad.

The pup leaned against a wall and noticed Chase looking at him with a guilty look on his face.

There was silence between the two for some time.

"You know, even after all this. After everything you've done to me and the pups, the people of Adventure Bay, I still would've tried to save you...maybe change you for the better." Chase stated, still holding on to that look of guilt.

Chase saw something he'd never seen before on Maverick.

Genuine sadness.

"It's...it's too late for me anyway, I guess you can't change who you truly are...even if it's a monster." Maverick looked at Chase. "That applies to both of us." The Shepherd started to chuckle.

"You know what's crazy? I think I finally figured it out. The whole 'cure' thing." Maverick said to Chase.

"What is it?" Chase asked sincerely.

"The funniest thing is that I'm looking right at it..." Maverick said.

Chase was shocked when he heard that sentence.

"What?" Chase stepped back a bit.

"Yeah...you were never cured. It was only when you killed Tundra is when you were really cured. I put two and two together and lo and behold, it makes sense. You die and everything goes back to normal. That's how it was written and that's how it ends." Maverick explained while still holding his side.

Chase stood silent, taking everything in.

"The exit is right over there, take it and go." Maverick pointed.

Chase decided against it.

"The last time that happened, you somehow survived. Not this time." Chase said with a stern look.

"Then make it quick already." Maverick pleaded.

Chase got close to the pup and put his claws up to his neck.

"I wish there was another way." Chase said with sorrow.

"Yeah...me too!" Maverick stabbed the Shepherd in his chest in a last ditch effort.

The Shepherd had a smile on his face. "You...you fell for the oldest trick in the book. I wasn't going down without taking you with me." Maverick removed his claws from the pups chest and left him to bleed out.

The Shepherd leaned against the wall and noticed fire creeping in the room and looked at the exit.

"It doesn't matter." Maverick said to himself as the flames slowly crawled towards him and Chase.

The pups stood in silence as they heard everything. They all had tears in their eyes and the worst part was that they had to explain everything to Ryder and the rest.

The silence was interrupted when they heard the faint voice of Chase through the pup tag.

"Chase?" Skye called out.

"Hey...looks like I'm not gonna make it...but that's okay...you pups are safe now...that's...that's all...that matters..." Chase said weakly through the pup tag. "...I'm sorry I couldn't—————."

The pup tag stopped responding and the pups were left alone.

They lost their best friend again, they thought it wouldn't happen, they thought things couldn't get worse but they did.

They realized that Chase was never coming back.
