Chapter 1: Summer Vacation!
'Shh! Keep quiet!' Scolded Raven through the mental link she shared with her sister, who was once again giggling with excitement. She moved along the shadows, blending in completely with little work on her part. Her red silk shirt was so dark that the only reason it didn't appear black was due to the black leather trench coat, pants and boots she wore. All of which were so well worn that they no longer made noise as she moved through the shadows, and instead flowed with her movements as if they were simply another layer of skin on her body. Her waist-length hair, nearly the same shade of red as her shirt, was pulled back into a tight braid and settled right down the middle of her black feathered wings.
'I'm not a child, you know.' Her sister Hawk shot back at her through their link. Raven turned her burgundy-wine eyes to stare at her sister's silver ones. Though they were sisters, Hawk was almost exactly the opposite of her sister. Whereas Raven was all dark colors, Hawk was light. The only thing they shared was the peachy-tan color of their skin. Hawk's hair was just as long as Raven's though it was platinum blonde with golden highlights and nearly glowed. Her wings were no different with their silvery sheen barely balanced by the hints of gold on the edges of each feather. Even her clothes were light and flowy, they swirled around her body like a morning breeze and never seemed to trip her up or get in her way. Currently though, she wore a dark cloak over her body to help her blend into the shadows as her sister did.
'Well then, maybe you shouldn't act like one with all that giggling.' Raven chided again, fingering the daggers at her waist. She always had several blades on her, including a sword in a custom sheath designed to go between her wings and down her back. It took ages for her to learn how to successfully wield it without cutting anything in the process. Hawk on the other hand preferred the distance of a bow, though she did wear the dagger and throwing knives that Raven had gifted her with years ago. "You're going to get us caught!"
'I can't help it!' Hawk argued back. 'This is all so exciting! I can't wait to sneak through the portal to Ningenkai! A whole summer somewhere completely new!'
'We're never going to make it if you blow our cover!' Raven growled and wondered for the hundredth time why she agreed to the idea of a summer in the human world. Especially when it meant sneaking through a demon lord's keep and praying they didn't get caught. Hawk was rambling through their mental link and slowly getting louder with each moment until Raven could feel a twitch starting in her left eye and the threat of a headache from the volume of the younger girl.
'I mean, this is so definitely against the rules of the three worlds and if we got caught then who knows what Prince Koenma would do…or worse! King Enma! Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is…'
'Shut up for a minute or you are going to get us caught! I can't concentrate on what's going on around us!' Raven finally snapped at the girl, instantly feeling guilty as the younger demon flinched, both mentally and physically. Raven sighed to herself and focused on calming down again. She was the big sister after all, it was her job to protect her younger sibling, not take her anger out on the girl.
Splitting her attention to their surroundings, she turned and placed a hand on Hawk's shoulder. 'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you. We just need to get through here as quickly as possible and it's taking nearly all my concentration to do so. We can chat as much as you want once we make it through the portal.'
Hawk glared at her and shrugged the hand away. 'Yeah sure, whatever…' She muttered in reply and turned her gaze to the side. It was rare for Raven to snap at her. On the rare occasion that it happened, Hawk would end up feeling extremely angry, hurt and guilty all at the same time. Raven sighed, knowing she did what she could for damage control at the moment before turning back to scout the area in front of them.
Raven had taken over the care of Hawk early on and it had caused a rift between the sisters. Hawk wanted her fun and loving sister back all the time and Raven was focused completely on the care and well-being of her sister. Lately things had been getting more strained between them as Raven grew more and more distant in her attempts to keep her younger sister safe, not seeing how unhappy the girl was becoming. Upon noticing, she had proposed a trip to the human world. It was the only place she could think of to take the girl that wouldn't require them to be on guard twenty-four/seven. Hawk had jumped at the idea of a vacation with her sister. Therefore, Raven had spent the last month planning every step taken to give her sister this gift, even if it meant risking getting caught and being punished by Spirit World's protectors.
Raven and Hawk were just a hallway's width away from the portal room when a noise caught the older girl's attention. She flung an arm out and gently pinned Hawk against the wall, out of sight of the boys who ran past them. It was a near miss when the shortest of them halted for a moment and seemed to glance right in their direction. Raven was preparing herself to launch into battle when he turned at the urging of one of the other boys and moved so fast, he seemed to disappear from sight.
Raven made her sister wait a few more moments, and a group of guards followed behind the group. Holding her breath, she grabbed her sister's hand, launched them across the hallway and entered the portal room. She pondered at the strange looking guards, not recognizing their uniforms, and what could possibly be going on. Just as quickly, she brushed it off and jumped through the portal with her hand clutching her sister's hand tightly. She wasn't going to allow them to be separated now.
*Human World*
"Yes! We made it!" Hawk yelled excitedly as they landed in a cave somewhere in a remote forest. Her joy echoed throughout the cave and Raven wondered if it could be heard on the other side of the portal, if that was even possible. Glancing around, Raven determined that this had been a good place for the portal to be connected to. Even if someone did find the cave, the entrance was so far ahead that it was unlikely for a normal human to want to wander this far in. Still, Raven remained on guard for any potential dangers. They weren't the only demons able to travel through the portals, nor was this the only portal available.
There were many random portals around Makai, some of which were near impossible to find while others only opened for a short time before disappearing again. Most of which were barely strong enough to let even low D level demons through and even that wasn't a guarantee. On occasion, one could be found to allow C rank demons through. Anything above an upper C rank were required to go through the protocols in order to traverse between worlds. Reikai was adamant about keeping track of which high ranking demons were in which world in case something happened between a demon and the humans. It took some serious searching, but Raven had finally found one, guarded by a high B rank demon lord, that suited their purposes. From the look of joy on Hawk's face, it was worth the risk and the trouble to get them here.
"So what shall we do first?" Hawk chirped and seemed to be barely able to keep her feet on the ground. "Hey, Rae! Are you even listening to me?"
Raven was keeping a steady pace as they wandered down what appeared to be a forgotten trail. It was nearly overgrown except for a small portion that the wildlife seemed to keep down, turning it into a deer path. All her attention was on scouting the surroundings, fingers twitching against the dagger on her right hip. She was unfamiliar with this territory, and it was making her feel very insecure about their safety. Apparantly, so much so that she didn't even notice her sister speaking to her until the girl landed in front of her.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" She asked remorsefully. "Something about what to do first?"
Hawk huffed but blushed a little, which amused Raven a bit. "I actually don't know…I didn't do any research on the human world." The blush turned into a pair of puppy dog eyes that could surpass even a wolf demon's abilities.
Raven pinched the bridge of her nose. "You've known about this for nearly a month and you have no clue what we are to do?"
"Well…" Hawk muttered, "Except for a handful of rumors there wasn't much to find. Granted, I didn't put a ton of effort into it but still…"
Raven cursed to herself silently, counted backwards and then let out a sigh. "Alright, let's just explore for a bit. Maybe something will catch our interest."
Hawk's smile was as bright as the sun at Raven's forgiveness. She never did learn how to stay mad at the younger girl. The amount of innocence Hawk projected was just astounding and encouraged the protective streak Raven had for the younger girl. There were a few times that she knew of where Hawk had taken advantage of that trait, but they were few and far between.
Hawk opened her mouth to thank Raven when a ball rolled at their feet. The sudden break from forest to park was nearly dizzying for the girls. It went from complete solitude to suddenly being the center of attention from a handful of children, their parents and some random adults at the park. Several young children were stopped in front of the girls, unsure of their safety. One of the older boys stepped forward. "Can we have our ball back please?"
Hawk took the necessary step forward and bent to pick up the ball. As she stood back up, the edge of her cloak fell back to reveal the edge of one of her wings. The children were in awe at the glimpse until Raven stepped forward and out of the shadows. The boy who had spoken to them now had the ball in his hands. At the sight of Raven's clearly exposed wings, he went pale as a sheet and all the kids followed him back to the adults in fear.
Raven chuckled as the kids fled, crying about the forest being possessed by demons. Hawk reached over and smacked her shoulder. "Raven, you idiot. We need to mask our energy. I forgot that some humans could see our demon forms, especially children. Humans don't know that demons still exist and are afraid of them."
Raven sighed and absorbed her energy into herself until she looked like a human, except for the wings. Focusing her energy a little more, she was able to absorb her wings into her body. Hawk followed suite and both of them were left with some perspiration on their foreheads. It was very uncomfortable for them to walk around without their wings and claws as they had only done it rarely for very short times previously.
"Alright, I forgot about the human aspect." Raven admitted to her sister once they each caught their breath. The distant image of children playing and parents watching over them told them that no one else had noticed anything unusual. "I don't get it though; we are stronger than they are. It's not like they could really do anything to us."
Hawk glared at her. "Because we don't need to attract the attention of the Spirit Realm, remember? I plan to enjoy this trip."
"Fine," Raven sighed dramatically, then grinned with barely contained laughter. "But it was fun giving those kids a scare, I think one of them actually shit himself. I think I'm gonna enjoy this more than I originally thought."
Raven noticed that her sister's appearance, while very similar to before, had a slightly more dulled appearance to it. Her hair now had a slightly yellow tint to it and her eyes were more of a greyish blue. Not drastically changed but enough for her to notice. She guessed that her change in appearance may have had a similar effect but didn't care to find out.
"Alright!" Hawk said happily as they slipped completely out of the forest and onto a walking path like they had been there all along. "I'm starving! Let's find something to eat!"
Raven chuckled and let her sister lead them to an man pushing an ice cream cart through the park. Hawk readily ordered a triple scoop vanilla cone and Raven got a single scoop of a mint chocolate chip. Not familiar with human currency Raven gave the man a Makai coin as payment, one that would have bought several more of his treats across the border. Raven figured it was better to overpay, even if it was well more that what the item was worth. As the girls started to walk away, the guy grabbed Raven's arm and held the coin in front of her. "What is this? Foreign currency? I want local money and I want it now! I don't have time to stand around getting this exchanged!"
Raven gave the hand on her arm a cool look before turning her gaze onto the man. "There's nothing wrong with my coin. You can take it or leave it, I don't' care. But we are leaving."
Something in her gaze caused the vendor to back down and clench his fist around the coin hard enough to turn his knuckles white. He released Raven, muttering about the rate exchange of the coin versus the time it took to do it. With her back turned to the man, raven sent the smallest fire orb that she could at the vendor's cart, taking out one of the wheels.
Hawk glared at her sister. Raven smirked at her, enjoying the small prank she played on the guy. At least until Hawk's glare increased and a dribble of melting ice cream touched the girl's fingers. Irritated, Raven shot out at her "What?!" She wasn't going to admit that she did anything wrong. At least she held back quite a bit.
"You very well know what!" Hawk hissed back. "You can't do things like that here! It's not Makai where we could kick the guy's ass if he challenged us! Demons are not to harm humans anymore remember? I don't want to call attention to Reikai over stupid stuff like this. I will be really upset with you if we get thrown into Spirit World Prison for attacking humans."
Raven muttered an apology to her sister and let the younger demon take the lead on where to go next. Obviously, there was an issue with the money they had here so the first thing they really needed to do was convert it to the local currency. I wonder if they have someone here that can do that or if we will just have to work a few days for the local money. I can do that while Hawk goes and explores, I guess…ugh why didn't I think about that while planning this trip? Raven growled at herself.
Having never been to Ningenkai before she didn't know what to expect and had hoped on Hawk finding some of this information out for her. She knew trusting the girl to do so was asking a bit much and blamed herself for not being ready for this trip. As Raven finished berating herself, as well as eating her frozen treat, she noticed an itch right between her shoulder blades. One that warned her that they were being watched. She sent a mental warning to Hawk and went on full alert mode.
Raven followed Hawk as she ducked down an alleyway that seemed to be unused at the moment with a clear exit on the other side for a quick escape. Or so she thought. As they entered the alley, two males stood at the other end. Several more followed the girls and blocked the other side. From a quick assessment, Raven determined that they were younger men who recently hit adulthood. The leader of the group stepped forward and ran the back of his hand down Raven's cheek.
"What do we have here boys?" He asked the group rhetorically "a couple of young women that must be lost to be traveling these areas alone, with no escort to keep them safe? It would be such a shame for something to happen to them, wouldn't it boys? Perhaps we should escort them…home."
Disgusted, Raven refused to jerk away from his touch. Instead, she glared at him. Before she could respond in any way, Hawk voice reminded her to not kill or mortally wound them. Raven sent back reassurances to her sister before taking a step closer to the man. Her nose burned at his stench and the greasy hair that was hastily slicked back was enough to make her gag. Even his clothes were dirty and carried the heavy scents of smoke, alcohol and old sweat. She swallowed it down the urge to vomit and smiled sweetly to the guy.
"Yes, it would be a shame if something were to happen." Her voice dripping with poisoned honey "You should probably get these boys home where it's safe. We wouldn't want something to happen to them, would we?"
Raven watched as the man's confidence melted away and turned into an unsure frown. He obviously didn't know what to do with someone that didn't bow down to him and his group of wannabe gang members. Raven's tactics unnerved him enough for him to take a step back before he could stop himself. Realizing what he had done, his temper flared, and he took the step back until he and Raven were inches away from each other. One of the men behind him egged him on, obviously not hearing the threat in Raven's words. Angered at his weakness in front of his men, the leader backhanded Raven.
"Listen here bitch!" He grabbed the front of her shirt and brought her close to his face, unnerved even more by the fact that she didn't react as he expected her to. "You and your friend there are going to come and serve my boys for as long as we see fit. I won't tolerate any crap from either of you. Got it."
'Hawk?' Raven questioned her sister before making her move. There was only one way this was going to go down and that was with these men on the ground.
She heard Hawk sigh in irritation. 'Alright fine! Just don't go overboard. Make it look like someone just got the upper hand. I'll be over here if you need me.'
A slow grin appeared on Raven's face as she tore the man's grip from her shirt. Hawk moved against the wall and out of the way, keeping an eye out to be sure that they didn't overwhelm her sister with their numbers. Hawk may be trained to defend but she did not happily fight, she was more of a healer. Magic and healing were her forte.
Raven, not worried about her sister too much, played a little cat and mouse with the man. Even so it only took a few moments before he called in for back up. Raven took out a couple men before she heard Hawk call out to her. One of the men from the other end of the alley had grabbed her and was now holding a gun vaguely in her direction. Several more had already pulled weapons as well and were pointing them at Raven. This is going nowhere good fast.
Despite their speed and abilities, there was always the chance of one of the idiots shooting Hawk if they weren't careful. Raven's mind raced for ways to get them out of this as she was surrounded by her own group of men. Where did they all come from? She wondered as the half dozen men they started at seemed to have at least doubled, if not more.
'Wait for an opening and then get out of here.' Raven ordered her sister, knowing that the girl could get herself out of this situation as long as there was a distraction. Raven would be that distraction and Hawk knew it. Still, Raven was relieved when her sister simply agreed without protest. Raven launched herself at the nearest man and knocked him out with one hit, eliminating one of the gunmen in the fight. Another got brave and sliced at her left side with a knife, he managed to nick the skin a bit before Raven spun and kicked him in the head. He was effectively knocked out as well.
With all the restrictions to her fighting and the number of humans attacking, it wasn't surprising that several of them were able to get quick hits with close range weapons. Most of which wouldn't leave more behind that some bruises that would heal quickly. Still, Raven found them to be annoying.
During this, the guy holding Hawk was in shock that an unknown woman would fight back while one of them was held at gunpoint. Hawk was easily able to break his hold and take his gun from him, knocking him out with the butt of it. She slid into a shadowed section of the alley, cloak wrapped tightly around her and waited for Raven to finish the others off.
Raven seeing that Hawk was out of danger, picked up the pace and took each of the gang members out one after the other until only the leader was left. None of them had fired off their guns because of how fast she had moved, they couldn't safely fire without a high chance of hitting their own men, so it was easy for Raven to disarm them and leave them out cold on the ground. It only took a couple of minutes for her to dispatch the group, leader included.
Seeing the men on the ground, Hawk came out and started to check them over. Her nature did not allow for them to leave without making sure the humans were going to be alright. Raven stood off to the side and watched her sister work. Movement caught her eye as Hawk was bent over one of the men who was bleeding. One of the men had already recovered enough to hold up a gun and point it in Hawk's direction. Raven lunged to protect Hawk as the sound of the shot chilled Raven's heart. She made it just in time to push Hawk out of the way and onto the ground. Pain shot through Raven's arm, followed by an intense burning sensation in her chest and back. The bullet had entered Raven's left shoulder, well above her heart, and she was pissed.
Rolling onto her feet, Raven turned her gaze to the man who shot her. "Burn." She said quietly and sent a ball of fire at the man. He flew into the air and rolled, landing with his back to them. Raven dropped to one knee and held her injured shoulder, it wouldn't move much without serious pain when she tried. Hawk rushed over, sending some healing energy into the wound to stop the bleeding. She also took off the cloak and gave it to Raven so that the older demon could hide the bloody area from sight. "Thanks Hawk."
Hawk nodded and checked on the human that Raven had burned. She used some healing energy on the man as well to counteract some of the damage Raven had done. She returned to her sister who was now sitting with her back to the concrete wall of the alley. "He'll live, but there will be a scar from the hit. We should find some shelter and properly tend to your wound."
Deciding that they didn't need another incident like they just had, the sisters made their way towards a more crowded area. They turned the corner and bumped into a group doing the same. Raven had been so alert in watching behind them, expecting an ambush or some other retaliation from the idiots, that she didn't notice someone coming around the corner.
"Ouch!" Said a small brunette as her backside hit the ground. Raven flinched as the contact sent another wave of fiery pain through her, currently useless, arm.
'What? No warning?' Raven grumbled to her sister. The younger girl was usually the better of the two at sensing weak or human energy signals that Raven was normally. In her current state, she had been relying on that to avoid an incident such as this one. Hawk sent her a mental shrug and an apology for being distracted.
'Sorry, all these energy signals have me distracted and I'm having trouble pinpointing different ones.' Hawk explained. 'Who knew there were so many humans here. Their energies just seem to mix together unless you are right next to them. I need time to adapt.'
Raven didn't like this new complication but reassured her sister before turning to the group that they ran into. At her silent request, Hawk came up and took over the conversations. "Oh my, are you alright? I'm sorry we bumped into you." She told the brunette sweetly as she helped the girl to stand back up.
"Hey, are you two new around here?" Asked a blue haired girl with pink eyes. "You have that confused, I don't know where I'm going look. You must be new!"
Raven was going to brush off the girl's unusual coloring until she sensed the energy coming off of her. 'She's one of Prince Koenma's Ferry girls!' Raven informed her sister. 'Be very careful what you say. We need to get out of here asap.'
Raven then looked the group over. They were all girls. There was the ferry girl, the human they knocked down, another tall brunette that was with them, and an ice maiden. What an odd group…Raven thought to herself and noticed the tall brunette giving them an odd but curious look.
She relayed the information to Hawk who seemed to pale a little. 'The only ice maiden I've heard of living outside of their island is the one who stays with the spirit detectives…we need to get out of here…' Hawk replied, she had heard the rumors that the girl was living in Ningenkai but didn't expect to ever run into her.
"Yeah, sorry about that, we're kind of new around here and got a little turned around." Hawk replied sweetly, acting like a stupid human girl. "I recognize that building over there so we're good now. Our new apartment isn't too much farther now. Thank you though."
The ferry girl squealed loud enough to pierce Raven's ears and make her flinch. "Oh, are you settled in yet? Do you have all your furniture? We'd be happy to take you shopping! There are some wonderful places just in that direction, we were going to head there next! Please say you'll join us!"
"We should get going." Hawk said hesitantly, not sure how to get out of this. "We still have a lot of unpacking to do…"
"Nonsense! We just met, we should get to know each other!" The ferry girl continued, ignoring Hawk's attempt at a polite retreat. "It'll be so much fun! I just love meeting new friends!"
"Botan," Said the tall brunette. "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves first before you declare friendship and shopping? These young women might have other obligations as well."
The ferry girl seemed to droop at the reprimand, but it didn't last long. "I'm Botan, the tall girl there is Shizuru, this is Keiko, and our friend here is Yukina. What are your names?"
Hawk could see that the girl was barely containing her excitement and Raven was having trouble hiding her injury. She needed to hurry this up. "I'm Hawk and this is my big sister Raven. Don't mind her, she doesn't like to talk much. It was nice to meet you, but we have taken enough of your time."
Hawk tried to politely continue their trek to the other corner of the street when Botan grabbed her's and Raven's hands, dragging them towards a store. Hawk was relieved it was Raven's uninjured side but worried about the irritation flaring up in her sister's eyes. Hawk tried to get her sister's attention through their link. Raven sighed, relaxed a little and told Hawk to just go with it. It would be more likely to raise suspicions if they insisted on leaving at this point. She didn't sense any negative intentions in the girl, just excitement.
As they were dragged along into a small shopping center, Raven felt something watching them. It felt eerily like that of a demon, but she couldn't pinpoint the energy signal for long enough to determine anything about it. Instead, she took it to be a threat towards the girls and was determined to keep them safe. They were well known enough at this point in Makai that it would put them at risk in the human's world as well should a demon decide to ignore the new laws of the lands. Besides, listening to the girls chatter with Hawk encouraged her to start liking the girls, even if the ferry girl's voice was a bit obnoxious to her ears.
They spent a little time exploring a couple of stores with nothing really peaking anyone's interest. Raven was glad that Hawk was enjoying herself, but she wanted to just find somewhere to hole up and heal for a few days, all this shopping was draining on her energy and testing her patience. They were just about to give up and look somewhere else when Keiko pulled out a royal blue dress that had gold designs all over it. It was interesting enough that it caught Raven's attention. Keiko expertly looked the group over and handed it to Raven. "This would look great on you; it'll bring out the color of your eyes."
Raven tried to turn it down but Keiko shoved it into her hands. Stumbling in an attempt to not stain the garment with her bloody clothes she shoved the item back to Keiko with an apology. The action caused the cloak to slip and Keiko gasped as the wound became visible. The girls instantly hurried to her side flooding her with questions. Finally one of them mentioned getting her to a hospital and Raven finally lost her temper, not thinking about where she was. "I don't need a stupid human hospital!" She growled at them and instantly regretted what she said, her skin paled even more as she hoped they didn't catch everything in her outburst.
She regretted it even more when Yukina looked at her with worry. This hit Raven hard because she didn't want to scare the young ice koorime. The girl's innocent nature rivaled that of her own sister's. Keiko's gaze was a mix of concern and betrayal. Shizuru seemed calm and took it in stride. Botan was shocked, probably at not noticing the different energies the girls gave off, and grabbed Raven by her good arm. Of course, Hawk followed behind her sister and the other girls were not far behind. She led the girls out of the building, down a quiet alley before releasing Raven and pulling out a compact mirror.
What an odd time to be checking her make-up. Raven though everything around her swayed a bit. She leaned against the wall and closed her eyes to conserve her strength. She didn't think these girls were much of a threat and trusted Hawk to keep everyone safe.
"Lord Koenma," Botan said and Raven felt her blood run cold and then hot with irritation. Too many times in one day for things to go haywire on them. Now they were being reported to the Spirit Realm. Raven contemplated on whether she could at least get Hawk free to escape. With her injury she would just slow her sister down. "I found those two demons that you detected earlier. One is injured and in need of medical care. They don't appear to be much of a threat to us at least."
Raven couldn't hear the voice on the other end, but Botan replied to it before closing the compact. "Good news! The boys were not too far away. They should be here in a few minutes. Don't worry, I'm sure that Lord Koenma will go easy on you. Breaking into a demon lord's keep though was pretty reckless. There had been some threats going around towards the humans and he thought that might have been what you were doing. That's why the boys had been sent to the Demon Lord's keep, the threat was supposed to be using that portal to get through to the human realm."
Raven took this all in as her vision began to get fuzzy. She didn't get the chance to reply as three boys came jogging around the corner. One, a tall carrot top, knelt at Yukina's feet. "Yukina my love, are you alright?"
"She's fine Kuwabara!" Said a second boy with slicked back, black hair. "Botan said these girls weren't the ones we were after over in demon world."
The third one, a tall red head with green eyes, smiled at Hawk and came straight to Raven. "I am Kurama, please allow me to look over your wound."
Raven nodded, feeling no ill intent form this man but his energy felt odd to her. He pushed the cloak away from her body and Raven felt her vision going as he touched the wound that seemed to be bleeding again. A surprised cry from Hawk had her eyes flying open and her drawing her sword. She moved to stand in front of her sister as a fire demon appeared in the group. It must have been a sudden appearance to surprise Hawk enough to cry out. Raven scouted the location of the other girls, saw that the boys were protecting them and adjusted her stance to place herself between the demon in front of her and the others.
The new demon drew his sword, and they flew at each other, crossing blades. He was just an inch or two taller than Raven and moved much faster than she could at the moment. Right now though, her only thought was to protect the girls in their group from this intruder. She didn't hear the others even call out for them to stop.
It didn't take more than a few moments before the demon had shoved her attack out of the way and got behind her. He hit her perfectly in the back of the head with the pommel of his sword, knocking her out almost instantly. As she landed, she muttered Hawk's name and dropped her sword on the ground. The last thing she remembered was Hawk telling someone not to touch her sword. That's my girl… She thought to herself and then the world went black.
