Laney was doing an exercise in the Simulator.

J.D., Varie, and Lisa were in the control room.

The Simulator activated, and Laney found herself in a beautiful Tropical Rainforest.

Laney looked around and realized immediately where she was. "I know this rainforest. I'm in FernGully. This was one of my favorite movies."

She was walking around the forest when she noticed a blue light approaching her. It was a small blue light about the size of her pointer finger.

She held out her hand, and it landed; the light was indeed a fairy. "Wow. A fairy." She looked at the fairy in her hands and thought she recognized her. "Crysta?"

Crysta blinked, surprised that she recognized her. "Yes, how did you know my name?"

Laney shrugged. "I guessed."

"Are you really a human?" Crysta asked, excited because she had only heard of them and had never seen one.

Laney smiled and nodded. "I sure am. But I also have powers."

"What kind of powers?" Crysta inquired.

"Plant powers." Laney extended her hand, and some tiny blades of grass grew into full-grown trees.

Crysta looked at what Laney did in awe. "That's amazing!"

"Yeah," Laney said dismissively.

"Do you have a name?" Crysta inquired.

"My name is Laney," Laney replied.

Crysta gave her a huge smile. "It's a pleasure. Have you ever been in FernGully?"

Laney shook her head. "No, this is my first time."

"I was going to see what it was like above the canopy," Crysta explained.

"Let's go together," Laney suggested.

Laney and Crysta flew above the rainforest canopy when they noticed a magnificent sight. The forest stretched for miles, and both saw smoke near a mountain.

Laney recognized the mountain where the smoke was coming from. "I know that mountain. That's Mount Warning. FernGully is in Australia."

Crysta cocked her head confused. "What's Australia?"

"It's where we are right now," Laney said, narrowing her eyes in suspicion. "But that smoke isn't supposed to be there."

"What's smoke?" Crysta asked, having never heard of it.

'It's bad air that comes from different things," Laney explained.

"Like what?" Crysta asked.

"We've built a lot of stuff, Crysta," Laney explained. "However, that could be a fire."

"Fire?" Crystal wondered.

Laney nodded. "Yeah. We might as well check out where that smoke is coming from."

Crysta nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

Laney and Crysta then flew into a grassland on the outskirts of the forest. They saw the smoke ahead and went into a grove of trees with red X's on them.

Laney swiped her finger across one of them and realized what it was. "It's red paint."

"What is paint?" Crysta inquired.

"It's what we use to make good pictures," Laney explained.

Laney and Crysta noticed red X's on most of the trees and realized what was happening.

"Oh no," Laney exclaimed, her mouth agape in shock and horror.

"What is it?" Crysta asked, noticing her expression.

"This is a clear cutting zone," Laney grimly stated.

"What is clear cutting?" Crysta inquired.

"It's where we cut down an entire area of trees," Laney explained.

Crysta exclaimed, "That's terrible."

Laney gave a nod. "Yeah. It's one of the world's worst environmental disasters."

"What can we do?" Crysta asked.

Laney shook her head. "These trees have been here for quite some time."

She placed her hand on a tree, which glowed a bright neon red. "They're all in a lot of pain. Not just from pollution, but also from the dust of time."

"Can't you do something?" Crysta inquired, concerned.

Laney paused for a moment, thinking. "I could grow new ones in their place. But I don't think I've ever tried that before."

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

Laney noticed a tall man with blond hair, a blue shirt, and blue jeans walking towards them.

Crysta hid in Laney's scarf, terrified.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Laney apologized. "I saw smoke coming from here and thought there was a fire."

He shook his head. "No, there isn't any fire here. My name is Zak, by the way."

Laney smiled at him. "Laney. It's a pleasure to meet you. What are you guys cutting down these trees for?"

Zak shrugged. "It's just for a logging company. I came up here for a summer job."

Laney nodded in understanding. "Oh, I see. I was only concerned. I thought there was a fire going on."

"Not a problem," Zak replied.

Laney then noticed that a tree was about to fall on Zak. "Zak, look out!"

Crysta had to act quickly, so she shrinks Zak to her size, and Laney leaps out of the way, grabbing Zak and Crysta and flies back to FernGully.

"Crysta, are you okay?" Laney asked, concerned.

"Yes," Crysta said, grateful that she asked.

They return to FernGully, and Zak awakens.

"What happened?" moaned Zak.

"Zak, Crysta here accidentally shrank you," Laney said, motioning to Crysta, who was sitting on her shoulder.

"Shrank," Zack said, confused. When he looked at Laney, he realized she was right.

Zak screamed. "What happened to me? I'm only three inches tall!"

Laney rolled her eyes. "Like I said. She shrank you."

Crysta nodded. "Yeah."

Laney defended her, saying, "This was totally unintentional, but a tree was about to crush you and she had to think fast."

Zak considered what he had been told and realized they were attempting to save him. "I see. Thank you for saving me, both of you."

Crysta nodded. "Yes. But Magi Lune will fix you."

"Good idea," Laney agreed.

Laney, Crysta, and Zak set out to find Magi. But she was away from her tree, so they had to wait. They don't realize that the machine that brought down the tree, The Leveler, also knocked down the tree that had been imprisoning Hexxus, the Spirit of Pollution and Destruction, and freed him. Hexxus has taken command of the Leveler and is heading for Fern Gully.

The next day, Laney felt a major disturbance. "Crysta, Zak, I sense an evil force coming our way."

"What is it?" Crysta inquired, concerned.

Laney shook her head. "I don't know."

Zak noticed a tree losing its leaves, and the water was turning brown.

Laney noticed it as well.

Laney realized what was causing the water to turn brown. "Oil. That machine is on its way."

"It's the Leveler," Zak explained.

"I can feel it," Laney said frowning. "We have to warn everyone."

Laney, Crysta, and Zak went to the heart of FernGully and told everyone about what was happening.

Then the Magi appeared. "The humans have freed Hexxus."

Laney's eyes widened in horror. "Hexxus? Oh, no! Let me help you all, Magi, "she pleaded with her.

Magi nodded. "Of course. Gather everyone in the circle."

Laney, Crysta, Zak, and the fairies went to Magi's tree.

"Laney, sit in the center of the tree and meditate," Magi instructed.

Laney nodded. "Okay." Laney made her way to the center of the tree, where Magi delivered a speech.

"Since the beginning of time, we have been the guardians and the healers of the forest. We have too long forgotten the Magic Powers of Nature. The time has come to call on them again."

Magi picks up a seed from a fig pod. "All the magic of creation exists within a single tiny seed."

The seed glowed, and there was a choir singing and a rumble of thunder. All of the trees glowed, and green energy from the entire forest poured into the tree and flow into Magi, and the tree twisted around and closed.

As all of nature's life energy flowed into Magi, Laney was in a state of complete concentration.

Crysta flew towards Magi.

"Crysta, look for the hero within yourself. Look for the good and loving heart in yourself and others. Because, just as every seed carries the power and magic of creation, so do you and every other creature in this world. Laney, please protect Crysta and the rest of my family with your life."

"Magi, don't leave me," Crysta begged, her eyes welling up with tears.

Magi gave her a sad but loving smile. "I love you, and I'll always be with you."

Magi turned into blue energy sparkles. "We all have power, and when we share it, it grows. Remember what you've learned, Crysta."

Magi dispersed, and all of her power touched everyone. A blue sparkle landed on Laney's forehead, and a green leaf appeared in the middle.

Laney was wiping away her tears. "I... I understand Magi, and I will protect everyone."

Zak realized that life is far too valuable to everything, plant, animal, or human. He decided to stop destroying the environment and help protect, conserve, and grow it to last forever.

The tree began to unravel.

"Oh Magi," Crysta sighed, her face solemn.

Laney stood up, and the sound of machinery whirring could be heard.

"It's here!" yelled Laney.

Everyone noticed a ghostly smoke creature on top of the Leveler. It was HEXXUS!

Hexxus laughs evilly. "I'm back!"

Crysta was glaring at him. "Hexxus!"

Laney took a step forward and faced the Leveler.

"Hey Tone. What's that little girl doing?" Ralph asked.

Tony shook his head. "I don't know."

Laney placed her hands against the ground, and a massive tree lifted the Leveler off the ground, immobilizing it.

"My powers have grown stronger," Laney realized.

Tony and Ralph were unaware that they were not moving.

Hexxus spoke to them through the windshield, and they exited the Leveler, where vines formed and safely lowered them to the ground.

Laney then felt a pain in her back and noticed flower-petal wings sprouting from her back.

"I have wings now? H... How?" She shook her head and returned her focus to the task at hand. "I'll have to find out later."

She flew up to the Leveler door, opened it, and went for the ignition key. "Sorry, Hexxus. But your spree of destruction is over."

Laney turns off the leveler and walks away.

Hexxus was becoming weaker by the second. "What happened to the energy?"

Laney stepped back onto the ground, and Hexxus disintegrated.

There was an earthquake, and the Leveler roof caught fire, and Hexxus in his true form arose from the flames.

He was a massive skeleton creature made of sludge and oil that burned with fire. He was becoming stronger because of the pollution.

Laney was glaring at the skeleton. "So this is his true form. Hexxus just doesn't know how to quit."

Crysta knew exactly what she needed to do. She took a seed and went into Hexxus's mouth, and plants started to grow out of him.

Laney remarked, "Now I see what Crysta is up to."

Laney flew up to Hexxus and used the Magical Powers of Nature to grow plants out of him, and with the help of all the fairies, Hexxus was transformed into a tree, and he was sealed away. This time for good.

They were all convinced that Crysta had died. But then a flower bloomed, and it turned out Crysta was fine.

Crysta and Zak exchanged a hug. "We did it, Zak. Hexxus will never be able to harm FernGully again."

"But humans could still do it," Zak pointed out. "That's why I have to go back. There's a part of me that wants to stay."

"There's a part of you that will always stay." Crysta handed Zak a seed, which glowed in his hand. "Remember Zak. Remember, everything."

Crysta flew up to Laney, who extended her hands and she landed.

"Laney, you were incredible," Crysta said, smiling.

"I couldn't have done it without all of you," Laney said, smiling. "We all did it together."

Zak left, and Crysta undid his shrinkage, and he planted the seed.

"You should grow this one, Laney," Crysta suggested.

"Thank you," Laney replied.

Laney's hand glowed neon blue as she touched the ground, and the seed began to grow, and the tree in which Hexxus was sealed began to sprout new life, and the trees that had been cut down all grew back, and the forest was completely restored.

Zak, Tony, and Ralph left the forest, and Zak decided to change his ways.

Laney looked at Crysta and decided to ask her to come back with her. "Crysta, would it be okay if you came with me to where I live? I know this is your home, and I would never take it away from you. But you are my friend, and you have a special place in my heart."

Crysta thought about it for a moment. "I've decided to go with you, Laney."

All of the fairies were confused.

"Why Crysta?" Pips inquired.

"Laney and I are very close. I want to learn more about humans and their world," Crysta explained.

"You are all like family to me. I hold a special place in my heart for each of you. I love you all. But I belong in Royal Woods, Michigan. It's my home, and I have family there. I love you all "Laney explained.

Pips nodded in understanding. "We love you too Laney. We will miss you both."

"I will miss you too. Bug brain," Crysta teased, smiling sadly.

"We will miss you all," Laney said, smiling.

Laney and Crysta entered a dimension vortex, and the exercise ended.

"Laney, you were awesome," J.D. said with a huge smile, proud of her.
