Chapter 27: Aqua's Magic Spell Mishaps 4 (with Kairi)
After the last magic spell fiasco the boys thought it would be over. Aqua had promised them that she wouldn't practice her magic around them until she had more practice on her own. There would be no more testing of spells when they were around. She gave her promise that she wouldn't practice on them or get mad and cast spells on them, not until she knew that what she had would really work.
That was what the guys had assumed at least. It had been months since Aqua had been seen practicing magic. She kept saying that she was really working hard on it but she didn't have anything to show, not yet at least.
Then came the day she invited them over. When they arrived at her house, they saw that Kairi, her fellow witch friend, was there as well.
"Kairi, what are you doing here?" Ventus asked.
"Oh, I was in the area, thought I'd see Aqua and how she was doing. And to talk about spells of course!"
"Oh boy, here we go again," Vanitas groaned. "Don't tell us you got some new crazy spell mastered."
Aqua huffed. "Wasn't that our deal? I would work on my magic without testing it on you."
"Yeah but it'll be still something stupid or crazy. Just don't do it on me whatever you do," Vanitas scowled.
"And who says it had to be cast on people," Kairi asked.
"I dunno," Vanitas shrugged. "Usually ends up happening."
"He is right," Ventus nodded.
"It does tend to happen," Terra added.
Aqua pouted. "Guys…"
"Right. Sorry Aqua," Terra replied. "Tell us what you've been working on."
"Well… it's a spell both Kairi and I have worked on. It's a real fun one."
"It's a youth for a day spell!" Kairi proclaimed.
The three boys looked at each other then back at the girls.
"Youth for a day?" Ventus asked.
"What does that even mean?" Vanitas asked next.
Aqua smiled. "For a day you get to be a child again. The youthfulness of childhood all with a single spell."
Vanitas scoffed. "And you think we'd really want that?"
Ventus nudged him in the side. "Maybe it'll be good for you. You'll stop being rude to everyone."
"I was always rude! Even when I was small!" Vanitas declared.
With a wide grin, Kairi stepped forward. "Shall we test it?"
"No way! We aren't doing this again!" Vanitas shouted.
He was about to march to the door when he felt Terra and Ventus grab him. He started to struggle and flail about as he was dragged back to where the girls were. Terra and Ventus tried their hardest to hold him in place, laughing loudly.
"Aw come on, Vani, I think you could need a day like this. Maybe you'll calm down a little, be less cranky," Ventus laughed.
"No! I'll just be more cranky! Or did you forget how we were as kids!" Vanitas shouted.
"Vani?" a soft voice asked.
The three guys stopped their motions and turned towards the door to the next room. There, standing in the doorway, was Sora… who looked like he was about 4 years old.
Vanitas groaned. "You already used the spell on Sora?"
"And Riku," Kairi smiled. She then turned around and faced Sora. "Hey Sora? Is Riku also awake now? Or did you wake up to see your brother?"
"Brother!" Sora cheered as he ran forward, nearly crashing headfirst into Vantias's legs.
Vanitas caught him and stared at the little version of his brother. "Sora are you really… did you agree to this?"
Sora giggled. "I did! I've been having lots of fun with Kairi and Aqua and Riku. You should play with us too! Pleeeeeease?"
"No way! I said I do not agree with this!" Vanitas huffed.
Aqua held out her wand. "It'll only be for a little while. Come on, you can't say no to Sora can you?"
Vanitas looked down at Sora, seeing his adorable pleading glaze. He knew that was the face that you couldn't say no to… no matter how old Sora was. There was no way to say no to his pleading little face.
"Fine…" Vanitas sighed. "Do the stupid spell."
With a giggle from Aqua she raised her wand. She said the words and cast the spell, causing Vanitas to be covered in a shining light. When it faded, Vanitas was just about the same size as Sora, and looking just as young too.
Sora was happily cheering as he jumped up and down. "Yay! Now Vani can play!"
"Yeah I know," Vanitas pouted with a childish expression.
Sora started to pull Vanitas along, practically dragging him. "Come ooooon Vani! We gotta go play with Riku."
Terra and Ventus laughed as they watched a grumpy child Vanitas be dragged off by his brother to play whatever games he had planned. Though, while they were, they failed to notice Aqua holding her wand up again, chanting the same spell as before. They didn't even have time to process anything before they saw that they had now been transformed into children.
"Aqua!" Ventus shouted, jumping at how squeaky his voice sounded now. "Why did you do that!"
"Because I thought it would be nice if you two could join the others," Aqua replied playfully.
"Yeah it's a big playdate today!" Kairi added.
"But Aquaaaaa," Terra whined.
Aqua sighed happily. "Aww you're too cute Terra. I miss how small you once were."
Reaching forward she placed a hand on Terra's head, ruffling up his hair. He squirmed and stepped back from her, still looking rather pouty. "I didn't wanna be a kid again."
"It's only for a little while okay? Then you can go back to being the big strong man that you are. How's that sound?"
Terra sighed loudly. "Okay I guess…"
"Good!" Aqua said, clapping her hands together. "Now why don't boys go and play with the others. We can come by soon with cookies for all of you."
Ventus's eyes lit up. "Cookies! Yes I want a cookie!"
"Alright then go and have fun boys!"
Terra and Ventus let out loud cheers as they ran off into the next room, leaving Kairi and Aqua to finally have a chance to talk amongst themselves. Kairi let out a laugh before she flopped down in the chair.
"So now we have to manage five little children. Think we can do it?"
"We can do anything," Aqua smiled. "But… let's just hope the spell actually wears off in time. I don't know if I'll be able to do the reverse."
Kairi snickered. "Ready to have to babysit them for days on end then?"
"As long as you don't go out ditching me. You have to help!"
"Of course I would," Kairi grinned. "But let's go see what the little ones are up to for now. We can worry about them returning to normal later."
