I grow closer to the end of this series! I know I can do it!

Chapter 28: Ghost at the Clock Tower

They say that there is a ghost that haunted the clock tower in Twilight Town. They say that the ghost is almost never heard or seen, but people have claimed to sense it's presence. The only supposed sighting ever heard for the ghost is said to happen on Friday the 13th. Just a bit before midnight, if you stand up at the top of the Clock Tower, there may be a chance you will see this special ghost.

"So, are you going to do it?" Hayner asked.

"Why should I? It's just a rumor," Roxas replied.

"Yeah, but dude! Think of the fame and stuff if we get a picture of this!" Hayner declared. He held up a camera and grinned widely. "If we are the first to get actual photographic proof of the ghost then we could be famous!"

Roxas sighed. "But why does it have to be me? Why not you?"

"Cause man! Someone has to keep a lookout."

"Then ask Pence or Olette to do it."

"They're out of town that night, so it has to be you Roxas. Come on, do it for me. Do it for the viewers."

Roxas sighed. "What am I going to get out of this besides views?"

"My undying friendship with how awesome you are?" Hayner asked with a laugh.

Roxas sighed deeply. "Alright fine, I'll do it."

"Great! Let's get ready then! We got a lot to prepare for it. Cameras and all the set up," Hayner said.

Roxas let out another sigh as he let Hayner drag him around, telling him about the plans that he had for the clock tower visit. Hayner had a plan to set Roxas up with a lot of cameras and recorders, just in case one device didn't pick something up, maybe the other would.

Roxas just went along with it, knowing that Hayner would handle everything else. He would just end up doing whatever he was told in the end, and attempt to catch a supposed ghost. Roxas honestly didn't know if there was one or not, but he wouldn't deny that it had piqued his interest.

But the night came where the two headed to the clock tower. They walked closer and Roxas looked up at the top before facing his friend.

"Are you sure it's midnight on the 12th? Not the 13th?"

"Dude, if it's the 13th and midnight happens it's not the 13th anymore. We need it to be the 13th at midnight," Hayner replied.

"Alright, whatever you say. You sure the staircase is unlocked?"

Hayner nodded. "Made sure earlier today. We just gotta sneak in and get you up there."

Carefully, Roxas opened the door to the staircase, it was unlocked just as Hayner had said. He turned around once last time and stared at Hayner who gave him a nod, motioning for him to keep going.

He sighed, and then started marching his way up the stairs. He only hoped this wouldn't take too long, he was not ready to stay up the entire night looking for a fable ghost.

When he got to the top of the clock tower he adjusted the radio earpiece he had and placed earmuffs over both ears. When that bell chimed it was going to be extremely loud and Roxas really wasn't looking to go deaf by the clock tower.

"You in position?" Hayner said through the radio.

"Yeah. Of course I am."

"Good. We just have a few minutes until midnight so get ready!"

Roxas waited, walking back and forth along the walkway around the top of the clock tower. He kept glancing at his watch every few seconds, watching how it was drawing nearer and nearer to midnight.

With it soon only being seconds away, Roxas felt a chill of air brush down his neck. He shivered and then the clock finally struck 12. Roxas froze up at the sound, it was just as loud as he expected, but it was still freaking out. Even the earmuffs only stifled a small bit of the sound.

But he kept his eyes open, and the camera in his hands up and filming. He looked around during each chime, trying to see if anything was going to appear. At first, it didn't look like there was anything, but at the 10th chime, he swore he saw something in the corner of his eye. Something while was over at the far edge of the clock tower.

He blinked a few times, trying to make sure he wasn't just imagining it. "Hello?" he asked out of habit.

The bit of white seemed to flicker, fading slightly. Roxas started to move closer to the spot, but the white was fading fast. "Hey! Is something…"

"Dude! You see something!?"

"Shh! Be quiet!" Roxas hushed him before turning off the radio.

He took another step and saw the flicker of white again. "Hey… are you something? Or someone?"

"Who's there?" a soft voice asked.

"I, uh, I'm Roxas," he said, feeling a twinge of nervousness in his gut.

"Roxas? That's nice. Why are you here?" the voice asked.

"I wanted to see who was up here. My friend and I heard rumors that someone or something shows up on this night," Roxas answered.

"You wanted… to see me?"

Roxas tilted his head. "I guess? I mean, that's why I am up here. Can you tell me who you are?"

The white image flickered, seemingly looking more in focus than before. Slowly, an image of a person was before him, looking rather ghostly. It was a girl who looked around his age and she was wearing a short white dress.

"I'm Namine."

"And your the ghost of the clock tower?"

She hummed slightly, placing her hands behind her back. "I suppose I am, but not usually."

Roxas tilted his head. "Not usually?"

"Usually I reside in the old mansion, but on this night, I come out here."

"Wait! You're that ghost in the old mansion?!" Roxas gasped. "Man, when Hayner hears that, he'll flip."

"Hayner?"

"He's my friend that wanted me to check out the clock tower tonight," Roxas said. "But uh, now I don't know what to do."

Namine laughed. "Well we could talk. It's been a while since I had a nice talk with someone."

"Talking… that's not so bad. And good for the footage," Roxas said.

"Footage?"

"Oh, uh… guess I should let you know. Hayner wanted to get footage of the ghost at the clock tower."

"Like an interview?" Namine asked.

"Uh, sure! It could be like that."

Namine clapped her hands together. "That sounds fun! I would like to do that."

Roxas sat down and nodded at Namine. "Okay, well let's begin."
