A/N: There isn't enough smut for these two. It's time I fix that even though I'm extremely new to writing stuff like this. I quite like writing anxious Sherry though. I think I should write more.

The nighttime chirping of bats and cicadas echoed through Sherry's apartment. Every thirty seconds, a shuddering drop of water fell from the sink spout and into the basin, leaving behind an echo as it went down the drain. The television was off but its surface was warm to the touch. The dishrack's solitary tenant, a blue plate, had been left to dry perhaps an hour ago. Sherry surveyed her apartment, looking for anything that was out of place before retiring for the night.

She slipped under her duvet and passed out as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Sherry stirred awake to the feeling of something heavy on the mattress next to her. She opened her eyes and couldn't make out the person laying beside her with the dim moonlight coming through her bedroom window. But that familiar floral scent was all Sherry needed to know it was Aki. The shadow that concealed Aki melted away and Sherry shut her eyes, hoping this would go away. She shouldn't indulge herself like this. After all, Aki was her friend.

Those slender hands cupped Sherry's face, thumbs resting on her cheekbones. Aki leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead. Sherry cracked her eyes open and found herself uncomfortably close to Aki's face. She looked so beautiful with her dark fuchsia hair framing her face and her eyes seemed to hold all the kindness and understanding in the world. "I love you, Aki," Sherry blurted out, taken aback by how quickly she let out her thoughts. Aki's blank expression didn't change and she brushed a strand of hair away from Sherry's eyes, her fingertips ghosting the blonde's forehead. "I'm sorry I can't say this to you while we're both awake." Aki kissed the corner of her mouth and Sherry became flustered.

"E-even though th-this is a d… dream," Sherry stuttered, unable to look Aki in the eye. "I still feel nervous around you." Aki remained silent as one of her hands traveled down Sherry's neck, past her muscular shoulders, and stopped at her hip. "Do you remember when we first met and I winked at you? I was only teasing at the time, I didn't feel anything towards you. But as I got to know you, dueled you, and became closer with you, I realized that I feel something more." Sherry looked Aki in the eye. "Something that keeps manifesting like this in my dreams and makes me freeze up every time I see you."

Aki let out a short hum and hugged Sherry. The blonde gave in and hugged Aki back. "I'm scared to tell you how I feel," Sherry admitted, her voice muffled against Aki's shoulder. She couldn't help squeezing the redhead. Aki felt soft and warm. "I'm scared of how you'll react. You've only ever been interested in Yusei so I always figured I didn't have a chance."

Sherry wanted Aki to respond but knew she wouldn't. After all, this was just a dream. It's just a dream. Aki let go of Sherry and straddled her hips, keeping her pinned to the bed. The blonde's heart rate quickened, unable to tear her eyes away from Aki's naked form (how hadn't Sherry noticed she was naked earlier?). She looked beautiful in the dim moonlight. Every part of her body from her neck to her shoulders to her hips to her thighs looked beautiful. The faded Crimson Dragon claw on her arm was the only mark on Aki's flawless skin. Sherry lifted a shaky hand and Aki laced her fingers with Sherry's.

Aki leaned forward until her body was flush against Sherry, a small smile on her previously blank face. Her eyes shone with happiness but even someone as inexperienced as Sherry could see desire underneath it all. Sherry shuddered, cramming her eyes shut again. This didn't feel right. This wasn't right at all. The hot breath against her neck and the kisses that trailed down to her stomach didn't belong there. God, why did Aki's mouth have to feel so warm? Sherry cursed her attraction to Aki, her fingers squeezing onto Aki's hand for dear life. Their hands disconnected and Sherry opened her eyes in time to watch Aki's hands travel over her body, sliding them up her stomach and resting on her chest.

Sherry averted her gaze, feeling ashamed. "We shouldn't be doing this, Aki," Sherry stammered. The familiar cold blooming sensation in her chest made her wince. "I have to see you tomorrow for a physical. This is going to make it really awkward. I don't even know what you look like naked so whatever it is I'm seeing isn't accurate to real life and-" Aki cut her off with a kiss that melted away her thoughts. Is this what a kiss was supposed to be like? Her lips were so soft and warm and made Sherry's head feel fuzzy.

Her anxieties quieted. The looming worry of having to face the doctor in the morning was in the backburner of Sherry's mind as Aki kissed her collar while a hand massaged one of her breasts. Sherry couldn't help but feel embarrassed as Aki touched her scar riddled body, caressing her abs and tracing the tiny blemishes dotting her skin. "Aki, I wish you could touch me like this outside of this dream," Sherry mumbled. "My body's not attractive. It's all damaged from years of training and running from Yliaster." Aki scooted down towards the end of the bed and rested her head on Sherry's thigh. Sherry felt her face go hot.

Aki looked up at her while kissing Sherry's inner thighs, getting closer to her crotch. Every few kisses, Aki pressed her face against Sherry's muscular thigh, her brown eyes hungrily eating up the naked form before her. Sherry couldn't see too well in the darkness but she felt Aki's tongue grazing her and fingers dipping in and out of her folds. The blonde bit down on her hand to stifle her voice when Aki kissed her clit. Her crotch felt like mush as Aki licked vigorously, the details of whether or not any of this was a good idea flying over Sherry's head. Aki paused and pulled herself back up until she was face to face with Sherry, one arm keeping her propped up. Aki licked her pointer and middle finger and trailed her wet fingers down Sherry's stomach, past her mound, and towards her entrance.

"This is happening way too fast," Sherry thought, feeling the pressure from Aki's hand. "I'd have liked to take her this a little more slowly." Aki kissed Sherry and pushed her fingers in. Sherry made a strained noise as Aki continued to push her fingers deeper. Aki's fingers were skinnier than hers and also shorter but they felt better than her own with how flexible they were and slipped in easier with each thrust of her hand.

Sherry's head was going foggy as Aki nibbled on her neck, on her ear, wherever she could reach with her mouth. "Aki, this feels really good and all but…" Aki's hand paused and she stopped to listen. "... is this right? Am I making the right decision in letting this dream happen? I… I have to see you tomorrow. I probably won't be able to get this out of my head." Sherry trailed off, unable to look Aki in the eye. Aki pulled her fingers out of Sherry and rubbed around her clit. Sherry shuddered and reached up, pulling Aki into a tight hug. "Aki, that's enough. I need to be able to see you tomorrow and function like a human being. This is going to my head."

Aki turned her nose to nuzzle Sherry's hair and whispered, "I love you too, Sherry."

The blaring alarm clock violently woke Sherry up from her slumber. She was sticky with sweat and her blanket had been thrown onto the floor. Tears ran down her face and she chuckled wryly, her chuckling becoming soft sobs. Her dream was becoming more and more vague with each second that passed but she couldn't forget the last words Aki said before she woke up. "That's too cruel," she thought, wiping her eyes with her shirt. "She's not going to say something like that to me." With that drilled into her head for the day, Sherry took a cold shower and got ready to leave.

She glanced at her bed on her way out of the apartment and the image of Aki's naked body flush against her own flashed in her eyes and she had to look away. She was already stressed enough. Sherry nearly broke the local speed limit getting to the clinic that Aki worked at, impatient to get this visit over with. She just wanted to get her physical and stay in bed for the rest of the day, preferably crying while doing so. The waiting room was empty and the receptionist waved her in. Inside of the office, on her ergonomic office chair sat Aki. Her hair was tied back in a bun with two bangs framing her face. She wasn't doing anything in particular, just waiting for Sherry as usual.

"Good morning, Sherry," Aki greeted, with that blinding smile. Sherry forced her eyes to stay to the left of Aki's face. She couldn't face her without noise erupting in her brain.

"Morning, Doctor." Sherry took her seat next to the desk. "I'm here today for my physical examination." She felt her heart banging against her ribcage as Aki took her blood pressure to start. That dream… was really making this stupidly difficult for no reason. The blood pressure brace was taken off and Aki motioned for Sherry to unbutton her shirt so Aki could put her stethoscope on her skin.

"Your heart is beating quite fast today. Did you run to get here?" Aki joked. Sherry almost blurted out, "No, it's because I'm incredibly attracted to you and I don't know what to do about it." Aki smelled like lilies this morning and Sherry swore she felt Aki's body against her own even though they were at least a foot apart. A wave of shame washed over her.

"No. I'm just nervous." The stethoscope moved to the right.

"You? Nervous? You're one of the most confident people I know." The stethoscope moved lower.

"You'd be surprised. There's something that's been on my mind for a while but I think I'm going to give up on resolving it." The stethoscope moved back up. "It's stupid, don't worry."

"It can't be that stupid if you worried about it for a while. Why don't you tell me about it?" The stethoscope moved to the left.

"I…" Sherry paused and then proceeded carefully. "I love someone." Aki froze for a second before continuing her examination of Sherry's lungs. "But I don't think they love me back. I had a dream about them last night and they said they loved me but I think it's pointless."

"I'm sorry, Sherry. Perhaps you should tell them about your feelings anyway." The stethoscope moved further left. "Better to let it out than to keep it in." The stethoscope was removed and Aki hugged Sherry, breaking her doctor persona for a moment to be the friend that Sherry needed. "I'm sure they'll appreciate your feelings, Sherry, even if they don't fully reciprocate them." There was a tinge of pain to Aki's words, as if it hurt for her to say them. She pulled away to update Sherry's medical records.

Sherry took Aki's advice into consideration. Maybe she could try. And if she felt too hurt over it, she could always find another physician. But she knew she couldn't replace Aki as a friend. "I…" Sherry began, unable to push the rest of the words out of her mouth. "I um…" Aki waited patiently, though she was focused on typing. "I love you." The confession came out as a whisper but in the quiet little office, it may as well have been a shout. Sherry felt tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. This was dumb, risky, and stupid and there was no way Aki was going to feel the same way and-

"I love you too, Sherry," Aki replied in a similar hushed tone that stopped Sherry's train of thought, her eyes still trained on the screen of her computer. The typing continued. Then the sound of keys being smashed made Sherry flinch in surprise. Aki's face burned bright red and her ears tinted pink. "Th-that wasn't supposed to… I… I'm very sorry. You were obviously practicing for when you were confessing to your crush. I should not have replied like that."

Sherry averted her gaze, wiping away a stray tear from the corner of her eye. "I'm sorry too. That must've surprised you. But I do love you. I don't remember when it started but I…" She noticed that Aki was covering her face with her hands. "Aki?"

Her fingers parted to show her eyes. "I love you too, Sherry," she stammered, her rich brown eyes looking directly into Sherry's emerald eyes. The duelist, very momentarily, was out of it, Aki's words swirling around in her head. Aki closed her eyes and made a noise of frustration. "I have to refer you to another doctor now…"
