"I don't think it's a good idea" grimaces the tanned blond who's currently sitting side by side with his raven in the rather luxurious SUV. He couldn't help finding himself wondering why Sasuke chose an SUV over a car, it wasn't like he needed the extra space.
"Come on, you're coming from my house and it's your Birthday, I'm driving you." States the unbending raven breaking the blond from his previous train of thought.
"We can't have people see us together, you know that." Naruto pointed out, he thought Sasuke may have lost his mind over their weekend together.
Looking into his blonds' worried sapphire pools, Sasuke offers him a reassuring smile. "No one is ever there this early, we'll be fine, I promise."
Naruto lets out a defeated sigh, "fine."
"Besides, if you listen I'll give you your gift tonight." Sasuke smirks as he begins backing out of the driveways, Whiskey In the Jar by Metallica playing through his sound system.
Sending Sasuke a glare that could easily compete with any Uchiha, Naruto clicks his tongue, " tch, I thought I said no gifts."
Sasuke shakes his head in amusement, even with his eyes on the road he can feel Narutos piercing glare making the Uchiha smirk with pride before teasing his blond. "Like I'd listen to a dobe."
Naruto let out a deep exaggerated sigh, drawing it out for optimum proof of his irritation, he knew this was going nowhere, the man had already confessed to the gift. What more could he do? Narutos weekend had been peaceful, but he knew it was only a matter of time before the sperm donor beckoned him home. Spending his weekend thinking and replaying everything over Naruto finally pieced everything together. Minatos new girlfriend, the lack of his Friday meetings, him staying away for days on end. He must have known the Akatsuki would find out where he lived and make their move. The man's bizarre behaviour finally made sense. What Naruto couldn't understand was if he wanted him dead so badly what prevented him from offing him all those times? Why bank on the Akatsuki doing his dirty work for him? It was the only thing he couldn't understand.
"What, no witty come back?" snorts the raven. Truthfully he was expecting at least a simple "teme," but was denied even that.
As if reading his mind the blond mumbles "teme, there happy?"
"Hn." Hums the raven, he'd take that response over the sigh.
Knowing Naruto wasn't a fan of his Birthday wasn't going to deter him from spoiling his boyfriend, he'd hold off on all the big fancy crap he knew Naruto wouldn't enjoy though. If he were being honest he was extremely excited about gifting Naruto his present. He couldn't believe the blond never owned his own guitar, or any instrument, it perplexed him. The moment he found out when Naruto Birthday was, was the moment he began his search for not only someone who customised guitars but guitar cases as well. He couldn't wait to see his blond reaction.
Stopping outside the little café Naruto loves, he looks over to the raven with a puzzled look. "Why-"
He's quickly cut off by a proud raven. "They have your favourite bagels right?"
Bowing his brows in confusion, Naruto nods slowly. "Yeah, but how did you know?"
"Because I'm a good boyfriend who pays attention. Now come on, let me treat you to a Birthday breakfast." Sasuke smirks playfully, shutting off his car.
Between the endearing gesture and the promise of his favourite bagel, Naruto's mood noticeably increases causing Sasuke to smile inwardly. Being out in public he couldn't grace anyone else with the possibility of witnessing what was reserved for Narutos eyes only.
The two went inside and ordered, Sasuke even convinced Naruto to let him buy him one of his favourite danishes for later. They waited for their bagels to be made as the barista made their coffees which weren't complicated seeing as they both drank black. Looking down at his cup Sasuke scoffs, rolling his eyes in distaste.
"What's wrong?" Naruto asks, side eyeing the raven before he looks over, presented with the issue. "Oh, they really do try to pick you up everywhere you go, don't they?" Naruto chuckles as he teases his irritated raven.
Sasuke clicks his tongue in annoyance, not at the hot blond that was his boyfriend, but the infuriating female who thought it was okay to hit on a customer. "Tch, you have no idea. Seriously, what if I was a serial killer and she just gave her number away freely? I swear they're all a bunch of imbeciles."
"True, but cheer up, you got me." Naruto smirks mischievously before discreetly pinching the raven's butt cheek and quickly cantering over to grab their bagels.
It took every Uchiha cell in him not blush at Narutos action. He was going to make the blond pay later, and he had nothing but time to figure out how he was going to get the delectable teen back.
Shooting the best glare he can muster given the situation, Sasuke menacingly mutters, "oh, just you wait dobe, just you wait." Naruto knew this was a promise, and it sent a delightful tingle through him, he couldn't wait for his retaliation.
The two teens managed to make it to school without anybody seeing them, opting to eat their breakfast together in class. Sasuke could understand why the bagels were Narutos favourite. He wasn't much of a fan but these were definitely enough to change his mind.
Over the course of the last couple weeks Shikamaru and Choji have been meeting the other two teens in class each morning. It has become a new routine which neither of them minded one bit. So it was no surprise to Sasuke and Naruto when their two companions came casually strolling in.
"Happy Birthday Ruto," yawned the lazy teen, placing down a small box.
"Happy Birthday!" the robust teen next to him softly chimed.
"Thanks you guys, you really didn't have to." Naruto rubs his neck sheepishly. Receiving gifts is such an awkward thing for him, especially given it's also the anniversary of his mothers death.
"What a drag, just open it." the Nara lazily demands. Choji eagerly nodded his head in approval.
Sasuke smirks at his boyfriend, "Yeah dobe, open it."
Trying to plaster an appreciative look on his face Naruto begins to open the box. Inside was nothing but a folded up slip of paper. 'Odd,' he thought.
Unfolding the paper his eyes widened and his previous attempt got overtaken by honest appreciation. "Oh my god! Seriously?! This is fucking awesome, Thanks guys!"
Sasuke looks between the group of three confused, 'why's he excited about a piece of paper?'
Shikamaru offers a smile seeing his usually phlegmatic friend almost bounce with glee. "Don't mention it, we knew you'd been dying for one and now you don't need a parents signature, not that they'd ask you anyways."
"Mhmm, mhmm." Nods a joyful Choji.
Sasuke was more confused than ever, 'what the hell am I missing?'
Naruto reads his mind "teme, it's an appointment for a tattoo."
Feeling grateful to finally be in the loop Sasuke looks over at the blond and raises a curious brow at him. "Ah, you like tattoos?"
'Of course he does you idiot!' Sasuke scolds himself, internally facepalming. How could he forget about mapping out his boyfriends glorious stomach tattoo, it only made sense he liked tattoos.
"Yeah, hopefully one day I'll be covered in them," Naruto sighed dreamily, fantasising about the day his marred skin is covered and replaced with breathtaking art.
Sasuke had never really thought about tattoos, though piercings were something he didn't give too much thought to either until he met Naruto. The thought of Naruto covering his perfect, creamy, tanned skin both intrigued and frustrated him. He knew he would look incredibly hot covered in tattoos but he also loved the looks of his natural skin. As the two teens walk away and take their seats Sasuke internally shakes his head to rid his thoughts.
"What are you going to get?" Sasuke asked, mildly intrigued at what the blond wants to permanently mark his body with.
"A giant fox with a menacing smile." Naruto grinned fondly. No one would know that it was his sketch of how he viewed Kurama when they first met all those years ago. He remembered thinking how beautiful the fox was even though he was terrified at the time. Those gorgeous, glistening, scarlet eyes, the menacing toothy grin, the beautiful vibrant fur, and those tails. It was a view he wanted to permanently embed into his body with.
"A fox?" Questioned the raven with his eyebrow quirked up slightly, using his Uchiha ability to mask his surprise.
"They're my favourite animal." Naruto casually shrugs. That wasn't a lie, he just left out the part about the giant fox spirit humans referred to as a demon being the reason for the tattoo idea.
'No way...How?' Sasuke secretly marveled.
"Actually, I might have a picture, hold on!" Naruto takes his phone out, unlocking it before expeditiously looking through it. Most of the time he uploaded images of his artwork to his drive so that he'd never lose them. "Ah ha! Here," he hands his phone to the raven.
Sasuke actually seemed a bit shocked, "wow...that's beautiful, a little creepy, but beautiful. Where did you find it?"
"Oh, actually I made it." Naruto scratches his head nervously. He's never really shared his artwork with anyone before.
"You made this?" Sasuke can't hide the shock and adoration in his voice.
"Mhm." the blond nods slightly.
"Wow, you can draw too? Is there anything you can't do?" Sasuke mumbles in disbelief. He couldn't believe just how talented his dobe really was, he just kept finding out how talented he really was more and more each passing day.
"I'm sure there's a lot I can't do." Naruto awkwardly chuckles.
"Wait, if you're this good at both music and art, why aren't you taking any arts classes?" Sasuke asks, he couldn't hide his curiosity. All this talent and he wasn't using it, it seemed a waste in Sasukes eyes.
"I figured taking academically structured classes would help me get further in life you know?" Naruto shrugs, he thought it was better, that way he wouldn't be closing any possible doors on himself in the future.
"Hn, I guess that makes sense, it just seems a waste to shelve your talent." Sasuke answers honestly, handing his phone back. He really wanted Naruto to know how incredibly talented he was. He couldn't fathom how aloof he was about his skills.
"Eh, it is what it is. Besides, I'd rather have as many options open to me as possible. I can always enjoy art on my own." Naruto says, sliding his phone back into his pocket.
Next thing they knew the class began to fill with students and the two teens went back to their usual flat selves.
"Better luck next time teme." Naruto teased, sticking his tongue out playfully.
"I swear you're no-" Sasuke began to retort only to be cut off.
"Sasuke, you still in here?" A monotone voice calls out before coming around the corner of the locker room.
Placing his mask of indifference up Sasuke asks, "What's up Neji?"
Looking back and forth between Sasuke and Naruto, the pale-eyed teen sneers, "Sasuke can we have a word?"
"Yeah sure, just give me a minute and I'll be right out." Sasuke discreetly observes the blond from the corner of his eye trying to gauge his reaction, he notices Naruto just turned around to open his locker.
Looking at the blond with abhor before smirking. "Tell me Sasuke, why are you hanging out with this thing?"
"What are you talking about Neji? We literally just finished PE," his response is equanimous, trying to quickly dismiss Neji's claim.
"Oh really? Then why does it seem like whenever you're found, this thing isn't too far off? Please, do tell Sasuke." Neji asks, but the true threat it possessed did not go unnoticed.
Doing his best to halt his uneasiness, Sasuke turns to open his locker. "Give me a break, you can't really be serious?"
"Then tell him." the Hyuga smirks at the now staring blond.
"What do you mean?" Sasuke flatly asks, feigning ignorance. This was going downhill fast, he didn't want this shit around his blond on his Birthday of all days.
"Tell him what he is and I'll leave it be." Neji iterates smugly, never breaking eye contact with Naruto. There was an untold challenge he was burrowing into the blonds gaze.
"He already knows what he is, why not leave it?" The raven asks, getting progressively more irked by the second.
Neji walks slowly over towards the blond, Naruto stands his ground refusing to move an inch. Face to face with him, Neji jabs Naruto in the shoulder, "he's a no good, worthless monster."
Before either teen can logically make out what happened Naruto grabbed Neji's wrist, twisted his arm around behind him, grasping his hair with the other hand and slammed him against the lockers. Sasuke was completely stunned by the speed in which Naruto pinned Neji with. 'How?'
Pressing the side of Neji's face against the locker Naruto leans down and growls in his ear, "don't you ever fucking touch me."
Snapping out of his initial shock and awe, Sasuke shouts, "Naruto!" Earning him a glare from the blond that freezes him, for a moment he thought those beautiful sapphires turned crimson but in a single blink they were cerulean once again.
Sasuke fights the urge to rub his eyes. 'What the fuck was that?'
"Fucking let go you freak! You think I want to touch a sick monster like you? Sasuke get this fucker off of me!" Neji's bellow came out mumbled from his heavily squashed face.
Naruto sneers, pressing the brunette harder against the locker, "stay the fuck away from me Hyuga, I won't tell you so nicely next time."
Neji may have been being a dick, but he was still Sasuke's childhood friend and he didn't really like seeing him slammed and pinned against a locker. Against his better judgement Sasuke steps in. "Naruto, let him go already."
Looking over at Sasukes stoic face, Naruto can't help but feel betrayed. Violently releasing the brunette he clicks his tongue in annoyance, "tch, whatever, have fun."
He grabs his things before storming out, not bothering to wait for a response from either teen. He knew they couldn't be close at school but why did it feel like Sasuke was making it out to be his fault?
Realising what he just did, Sasuke mentally scolds himself, 'fuck I'm an idiot.'
"Thanks Sasuke, that freak's out of control." Neji grimaces trying to soothe his sore wrist.
"You should really keep your hand to yourself, Neji. What the fuck did you want anyways?" Sasuke spits. To say Sasuke was angry right now would be a huge understatement, he was livid. His blonds Birthday and the situation Neji put them in turned him into a jackass.
"Geez calm down Sasuke, he deserves it." Neji says, waving his hand dismissively.
Sasuke pinches the bridge of his nose, sighing heavily, "then you deserve what you get, don't go asking me to step in the next time you start shit Neji. Now what did you need me for? I'd like to get the fuck out of here."
"Oh calm your tits Sasuke, that's the kind of thing friends do for each other. Anyways, We have a council meeting." Neji says as he smooths out his wrinkled clothes, brushing away imaginary dirt.
Sasukes eyebrow twitches with annoyance. He sneers dangerously low through clenched teeth, "what do you mean we have a council meeting? I'm not on the counsel, Neji."
Neji snorts at his friend like his tone couldn't possibly be serious. "We put your name in, come on you're one of us, it's time you act like it."
"What the fuck! You can't just volunteer me for shit!" Sasuke exclaims, slamming his locker. He was doing everything he could to keep his rage at bay.
Neji responds unaffected by the raven's aggravation. "Enough Sasuke, you know as well as I that you're an elite and you need extracurriculars. Now stop your fucking moping and lets get a move on."
Neji begins to walk out once he hears the raven mumble an incoherent response which was surely a string of expletives and insults.
'I hope he's not too mad at me.' Sasuke sighs sulking to himself before following Neji at a distance.
After the locker room altercation Naruto makes the rash decision to go home today. He knew it wasn't Sasukes fault per-say, but it wasn't not his fault either. Relationships were still a foreign concept to him and he didn't feel like fighting with the raven today so he figured he'd go home and risk possibly getting murdered as opposed to possibly dealing with another emotional conflict.
This was going to give him a chance to begin cleaning up the mess that was left behind because he knew damn well that Minato wouldn't do it. He did find it strange that Minato wasn't leaving him messages demanding him home to clean, he briefly wondered if his sperm donor had even bothered to stop by after the break in but quickly dismissed it as he really didn't care.
Naruto was making his way to the Uchiha residence to collect his belongings before heading home. He had to make time to drop by his mothers grave before work too. He may have never known her, but she still sacrificed her life bringing him into this cursed world.
Walking up to the Uchiha gate he's greeted by security. "Afternoon Naruto, where's the young master?"
Naruto snorts, "Really Izumo, young master?"
With a shit eating grin Izumo shrugs nonchalantly. "You should see the look on his face when I call him that to his face. It's priceless."
"I can imagine." Naruto lets out an amused chuckle as he imagines the cute huffy raven. Remembering he's currently angry at said raven he's quick to shake his head. "Anyways he's still at school, I just need to get my stuff if that's alright?"
Seeing as Naruto has gotten quite familiar around the Uchiha residence, Izumo is quick to grant him access. "Sure thing Naruto." The man gives the blond a curt nod and opens the gate for him.
After spending a few days with the raven, Naruto had finally gotten his long awaited tour. Lucky for him it helped him navigate the immense labyrinth that he still could fathom calling a house. He found himself feeling oddly privileged for being granted trust to be in such a place unsupervised. Naruto was sure even most of the light fixtures cost more than his life. Granted he didn't place a high value on his life to begin with, it still made him feel oddly warm inside knowing Itachi and Sasuke trusted him in such a way.
Once he made it to the ravens room he swiftly collected his belongings. Naruto gave Sasukes room a once over, making sure he'd packed everything. He was usually pretty good at keeping his things together but being as it was his first time spending time at someone's house he wanted to double check. With everything packed Naruto sat at Sasukes desk debating on if he should text the raven or not. He knew that Sasuke wanted to give him his gift tonight, but Naruto couldn't be there right now, he needed some space to sort his thoughts and feelings. Surely Sasuke could have worded his statement differently and that look in his eyes, it was the same look everyone else gives him, he couldn't help his soul feeling maimed when it was Sasukes eyes scrutinising him.
'I'm such a loser.' He couldn't help thinking to himself.
Deciding he should text the raven at the very least he pulls out his phone but quickly realises it's dead. 'Fuck.'
Doing the next best thing he reaches over and grabs a pen from Sasukes stationary cup. Opening one of the notebooks on the desk Naruto jots down a quick note just so Sasuke knows why he didn't text him. He may be upset, but he is also mature enough to not ignore someone outright over a minor dispute, or whatever it was that happened between them this afternoon.
Hey Sasuke,
I need to go home tonight, I would have texted you but I forgot to charge my phone and it's dead, sorry. Talk later.
Naruto.
Naruto left the note on Sasukes desk so there was no possible way he could miss it. Shutting the raven door behind him Naruto quickly made his way downstairs and left in a hurry in hopes of avoiding Sasuke for the time being. He didn't know what Neji wanted, didn't really care either, he just didn't feel like seeing the raven in case he displaces his wrath on him. As he walked home, he really wished he'd charged his phone, he could do with some music right about now.
With the lack of music, it seemed to take longer to get home. Walking in the house was a nightmare, though he already knew it would be. Leaving his shoes on so he doesn't impale himself on random shards of glass Naruto puts his belongings back up in his room, quickly placing his phone on charge before setting out on the immense task of fixing his house that's been strewn about.
After two hours the glass is cleaned, the furniture is turned over and put back in its rightful place and the trash is put out. Naruto couldn't do much about the graffitied walls, they would need a coat or two of paint. Noticing he needs to head to work he resolves himself to drop by his mothers grave after work. Besides, his chances of running into Minato there that late would be lower.
Taking his phone off charge he quickly turns it on, he's immediately flooded with a string of apologetic, worry filled texts.
Teme:
Naruto I'm sorry!
Please answer me!
I know I fucked up, just please text me back.
Neji and the others pretty much forced me into joining the school council.
Naruto, are you okay? you're worrying me, I really am sorry.
I just got home and saw your note, please text me when your phone is charged I need to know you're safe.
Naruto snorts, 'so much for his pride.'
Taking pity on the uncharacteristically frantic raven Naruto quickly text him back.
Naruto:
I'm fine, just heading to work.
Grabbing his things, Naruto makes his way downstairs. Revelling in the fact he has his music again he puts his ear buds in and plays the first randomised song, Son of Sam by Elliot Smith then proceeds the journey to work.
Sitting through the ridiculous student council meeting he never wanted to be a part of, Sasuke quickly found out it was essentially a reason for the rich kids of the school to gather around and judge everyone else. Ever since Naruto stormed out of the locker room he'd been sending him texts but they all went unread which made the raven feel useless and uneasy.
Being relieved of his unwanted school duties, Sasuke was finally able to make it home, he was hoping Naruto would be waiting for him. He really needed to make this right, he's not accustomed to feeling guilty, he really didn't like it. Making it to his room he was quick to notice the notes sitting on his desk written in clear neat writing.
'I'm such a fucking idiot!' The raven internally mutters, berating himself after reading the note his blond left him.
Quickly grabbing his phone he sends one last text in hopes of Naruto responding once his phone is charged.
Sasuke:
I just got home and saw your note, please text me when your phone is charged I need to know you're safe.
He felt like absolute garbage, it felt like he had just chased his blond away and that wasn't a thought he enjoyed processing. There was also the issue of Naruto going home where he could possibly be attacked at any moment, the thought made him want to hurl. Normally he would go ask Itachi what he should do, as much as he doesn't want to admit it, his brother always gave him sound advice but he's still at the office.
'Ugh, what am I going to do?' he groans, letting out a frustrated sigh.
Checking his phone once again for an illusive response he frowns realising there's nothing but a string of useless group chat texts going on about Neji's Halloween party.
Neji:
Halloween party is Saturday 29th at 8pm!
'Yeah, like I really want to go to another one of those' Sasuke scoffs
Neji:
I hope everyone can make it. Sasuke that includes you too sour puss.
Kiba:
HA! Sour puss that's good!
Sakura:
Sounds fun, can't wait to dress up!
Ino:
Don't tell me you're going to be a slutty nurse again.
Sakura:
Watch it Ino-pig!
Ino:
Oh I'm so scared billboard brow!
Why don't you just stick a picture to your forehead, you're already a walking costume.
Sasuke:
I'll pass.
Not caring about a response, Sasuke exited the group chat before giving himself a migraine. Sitting with them for an hour during his forced meeting had already hurt his head in more ways than one. Watching the groups females continue to fight each other even while separated was something he could avoid at least. With no response from his blond he needed to distract himself until he figured out how he was going to make it up to Naruto. Digging through his bag he grabs his science books and sets out doing his homework.
Sasuke had managed to underestimate the amount of homework he had. Science was easy enough, but English took him down a rabbit hole. They just switched to a mythology unit where they were required to pick one of the mythical creatures Kakashi-sensei listed for them to research. To Sasuke's delight it was actually quite fascinating, he was intrigued how something like fossils discovered hundreds of years ago could cause people to assume the existence of mythical monsters. Just as he was half way through a paper on dragons his phone went off. Anxious for a reply from Naruto he quickly fumbles for his phone in hopes it was him.
Dobe:
I'm fine, just heading to work.
Relief washed over him. 'Thank god he's not ignoring me.'
Sasuke:
Are you alright? I'm really sorry about earlier!
He waits for a reply but frowns after a couple minutes pass with no response. Staring at his phone like it held the secret to life's mysteries, Sasuke had an epiphany, he would bring Narutos gift to his work and spend his break with him. He knew the blond wouldn't have his break for a couple hours after his shift started so he had plenty of time to set his plan in motion.
Picking up his phone, Sasuke makes a quick call. "Hello, I need to place an order for Uchiha."
It was a slow night with not much stocking to do so Naruto was in the back listening to George, one of the shipping guys who was going on about how they received an order of entirely too much canned corn.
"Naruto Uzumaki to customer service, Naruto Uzumaki to customer service." A ladies voice booms, echoing over the whole store causing the blond to furrow his brow. 'What could they need me for?'
"Guess I better go see what that's about. Hopefully you guys get that sorted though." Naruto waves to his co-worker as he exits the back.
Making his way to the customer service desk he's greeted by something he definitely didn't expect.
"Hey dobe." The raven smirks.
Naruto quirks his brow at the older teen. "Sasuke, what are you doing here?"
A wave of trepidation washes over the raven. "Well, um, I'm sorry about earlier and I wanted to make it up to you. I don't expect you to forgive me for the way I acted earlier but I want you to know that I truly am sorry."
Seeing the honesty and guilt encased gaze of the raven is enough to soften Narutos resolve. "It's alright Sasuke, don't worry about it. We both know how imperative it is to keep us a secret."
Sasuke shakes his head, disgusted with himself. "No Naruto, it's not alright. I should have found a different way to resolve the situation. I'd like to try and make it up to you if you'd allow me to."
Naruto sighs, "yeah you should have, but we can't change that so there's no point in dwelling on it. What exactly did you have in mind?" he asks, mildly intrigued.
Sasuke smirks," when's your break?"
The blond raises an eyebrow at the raven "Soon, why?"
"Because I have a surprise for you." Sasuke answers, his smirk turning into a soft smile that warms Narutos heart.
Naruto returns the smile. "Is that right?"
Sasuke nods his head. "Hn."
Naruto takes a moment to think while studying the raven's flawless face. "Give me five minutes."
Naruto walks off to punch out for his break, informing Konan beforehand. Grabbing his sweater from his locker he walks back out to find his raven waiting patiently for him.
"Alright, lead the way." Naruto says making a gesture with his arm for Sasuke to lead him.
Sasuke is quick to grab the extended hand, intertwining their fingers as he starts pulling the flustered blond behind him. Naruto couldn't see it, but he could feel the smirk on the older teens face.
Wondering what the raven's planning, Naruto asks, "where are we going?"
"My car." Sasuke quickly answers.
Naruto raises an eyebrow, confused as to why they were going to his car, but loyally follows hand in hand regardless. When they reach Sasuke's SUV he unlocks the car, reluctantly releasing his blonds hand so he can open the passenger door for him. When Naruto enters the car his senses are overwhelmed with a marvellous aroma of what Naruto suspects to be Italian food. As his senses are overpowered by such a magnificent smell he almost didn't hear Sasuke get into the driver seat.
Sasuke chuckles as he watches Naruto practically drool over the smell alone. Reaching into the back seat he pulls out a couple of brown paper takeout bags. "This is part of the first part of the surprise."
"You got me Villa Rissi?!" Naruto exclaims, hearts practically beating out his eyeballs.
"I did, I remember you told me how much you loved them." Sasuke answers as he pulls out the container, handing one to his blond.
"Don't tell you got me-" Naruto begins to ask as he bounces in his seat with pure joy.
"Chicken Parmesan and penne alla Vodka." Sasuke finishes with a smile.
"Oh my god Sasuke you're forgiven, you're the best!" Naruto practically squeals as he opens his container, digging in without a second thought.
Sasuke smiles, shaking his head in amusement. He's glad that this small gesture can make his blond happy. He never wanted to see the look Naruto gave him earlier again, it made him feel horrible and worthless. There was also something far more unnerving about it that he couldn't place which made him believe he was better off oblivious to it.
The two ate while engaging in light chatter. The discussed Sasukes detests towards being forced into their schools student council, their upcoming trigonometry test, the new mythology unit which put a strange glint in the blond eyes, Sasuke thought that the look was that of someone who knew things but he quickly brushed it off when they just about finished their meals.
"Naruto, I really am sorry." the raven confesses again absently poking the remainder of his pasta.
Naruto sighs, placing his empty container in the paper bag. "I know you are Sasuke."
Sasuke slowly looks up with hopeful, hesitant eyes. "Do you really forgive me?"
Amused, Naruto lightly chuckles. "The forgiveness I granted you because of the food may have sounded like a joyful joke because of the sustenance you were providing me with but you should know I don't lie. I forgive you, just don't make a habit out of taking sides with the one in the wrong."
"Thank you. I don't think I could handle the look you gave me again." Sasuke chuckles before remembering his deceitful eyes. "You know I was so shocked I thought your eyes were red for a split second?"
That bit of information calls on all of the blonds' composure just to keep his face impassive. Inside his mind was in turmoil. 'Did it happen because I was angry? What would I tell Sasuke if it happens again, or worse stays longer?'
Rubbing the back of his neck, Naruto chuckles nervously, "heh, that's funny, can you imagine red eyes?"
"I know it's silly to think about it now but at the moment there was something about your gaze that, quite frankly, scared the shit out of me." Sasuke grimaces, recalling that intense, cold yet empty stare. "Also, how the fuck are you so fast? Before I knew what happened you had Neji pinned and that's the second time you've pulled that...how?" he asks, deeply furrowing his brows.
Drawing out a deep breath, Naruto lowers his gaze to his lap before closing his eyes. "My body just sort of reacts, I can't really explain it." Raising his head he looks at Sasuke to gauge his reaction before continuing. "I don't like people in my personal space, and I especially don't appreciate being touched. Neji more than knows that but likes to push his luck because I never engage. I don't know if he's pissed I don't acknowledge him, or just trying to swing his dick around, regardless of his reason for constantly pushing me, I've always brushed it off and ignored it because he never actually laid hands on me. When you came along and that dynamic changed, he seems hyper possessive over you and ever since he found out you merely spoke to me something flipped in him that possessed him to up his advances. That being said, if he touches me again I will not show him mercy, it will be worth whatever punishment I earn to stop him from laying hands on me again, your friend or not."
Sasuke bows his head shamefully. "I'm sorry, it was just hard to see him shoved into lockers."
Narutos jaw visibly clenches at the mention of feeling bad for the pale eyed teen. "I get it, you've known the guy for ages, but that doesn't give him the right to touch me then beckon you like some trained dog to do his bidding."
"I don't know why I stepped in, I guess just like you my instincts took over and acted on my behalf." Sasuke remorsefully admits.
Naruto grunts, "is that supposed to make me feel better?"
Feeling like he's losing the battle with his blond he reaches out to cup his cheek. Sasuke stares into the endless sapphires trying to convey his honest feelings. "I'm sorry, I'll say it as many times as it takes. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sor-"
Placing his hand overtop of the ravens Naruto cuts him off with a snort. "Stop apologising, it's very unbecoming of an Uchiha, a little eerie too if I'm being honest." He jokes.
"Hn, whatever dobe." Sasuke smirks, but it was a smirk with relief embedded in it.
Shaking his head Naruto chuckles, "you really are a bastard you know?"
Sasuke snorts, "so I've been told. Anyways, you ready for your next surprise?"
Naruto wasn't able to contain his shock. "There's more?!"
"Hn." Sasuke hums with his everlasting smirk.
Naruto watches as Sasuke gets out of the car, opening the rear passenger door, he grabs another brown takeout bag before shutting the door and disappearing behind the vehicle out of the blond's line of sight. After hearing a muffled "Stupid fucking wind." Sasuke opens Naruto door, "Happy Birthday Naruto." Sasuke held a serving of tiramisu in front of the blond with a lit candle on the top.
"Sasuke I-"
Sasuke cuts him off with a warm heart melting smile stretched across his face, "make a wish to Naruto."
Looking at the utter joy enveloping his boyfriends face, Narutos own face softens before looking down at the fluttering candle.
'I wish to always make your life as bright as you make mine.' Taking a deep breathe he blows out his candle.
"Thank you Sasuke," the blond says softly, a smile ghosting his lips.
"Don't mention it, it's my pleasure. Here," grinning, he offers the blond his dessert after removing the candle.
'I've never had cake for my birthday before.' he wanted to say but instead he smiled and took the tiramisu. "Thanks."
"Hn."
Once Sasuke walked around and sat back in his seat he watched the blond greedily devour his dessert. "Good?" He chuckled.
Naruto nods his head enthusiastically. "Mhmm."
"Man, that was so good! Thank you." Naruto praises upon finishing as he rubs his full stomach.
"Ah, but it's not done yet." Sasuke proudly admits.
"Please, I can't eat anymore!" Naruto pleads, waving his hands.
Sasuke snorted, "don't worry it's not food. Come." Sasuke beckons him out to the trunk of his SUV.
In the trunk there was a large beautifully wrapped present. The wrapping was a beautiful black and white lace pattern, while the bows and ribbons were a deep dark red. It would almost feel sacrilegious to unwrap such a work of art. "Sasuke, you didn't have to do this."
"Hush, just open it." On the outside Sasuke was smiling, but inner Sasuke was bouncing on the heels of his feet, impatiently clapping his hands in anticipation.
Naruto takes a seat in the space beside the gift. Sliding it over he began to slip off the ribbon before meticulously peeling the tape so as to not shred such beautiful wrapping paper. It may be trash after, but it seemed too precious to shred. After a few grunts and a few "Hurry dobe's." Naruto had finally removed all the wrapping paper. He was rather pleased with himself for skillfully removing the paper, giving himself a nod of approval as he stared at a large plain white box.
Quirking his eyebrow at the raven, Sasuke nods, encouraging him to open the box. Gently sliding off the top of the box Naruto is greeted with a blinding white guitar case. The clasps and handle were all equally as white. The case looked to be hand stitched with crimson red stitching along every seam, the initials "N.U." embroidered on the far bottom edge. Naruto was speechless, it was a beautiful case.
'But I don't have a guitar." Naruto pouts slightly at the thought of such a magnificent case going to waste.
Able to see the blond's turmoil, Sasuke speaks up to encourage him, "open it."
Furrowing his brow, he unhooks the clasps and pops the case open. Naruto gasp, his mouth gaped so wide his jaw could be mistaken for being unhinged, his large pools of cerulean glistened wider than Sasuke had ever seen causing the raven to pridefully preen.
The inside of the case was a soft black velvet but what caused Narutos reaction was the pulchritudinous guitar inside. Inside was a hand painted guitar. It was matt grey that had a rough texture to it. The front of the guitar stood out, staring back into his soul was a bounding snow white fox with gold tipped ears and tail and piercing blue eyes. Narutos breath hitched, it was almost as if he was looking into his own eyes. Behind the fox was a gliding raven, one would think that the raven was following the fox. One could ask a million questions regarding the meaning behind the imagery, but being struck with such beauty Naruto could only gasp, "I only told you I liked foxes today, how did you know?"
"I didn't know, the artists ran a few ideas by me and this is the one that called out to me." Sasuke answered honestly. This morning when Naruto told him foxes were his favourite animal he nearly shivered, it was like it was truly meant to be.
"This is, I can't accept this, it's too much Sasuke." Naruto whispers feeling undeserving of such a gift.
"Naruto, nothing is too much for you. Do you not like it? I can always get you another." Sasuke gently offers.
"NO!" Naruto unexpectedly shouts. "It's not that, It's beautiful Sasuke. I love it." he admits, his deep voice sounding small and soft.
"Then?" the raven implores.
"It's way too nice, how can I accept such an extravagant gift?" Naruto solemnly questions.
The raven smiles at him, lifting his chin so their eyes meet. "Nonsense, nothing is too nice for you. Please will you accept it? It would fill me with great pleasure to listen and watch you play music with it."
"I don't know Sasu-"
"Please Naruto?" Sasuke cuts him off begging earnestly.
Naruto sighs, frowning slightly as he thinks. "Okay I'll accept it, on one condition."
"Anything!" Sasuke beams.
"You have to keep it at your house. I would hate to see someone break in again and ruin it." Naruto explains.
Sasuke nods enthusiastically, "done!"
Narutos break was almost done so the two wrapped up Sasukes pop up Birthday date with a small passion filled make out session. Naruto poured all his appreciation into his kiss while Sasuke tried to convey how sorry he was and how lucky he felt to call the blond his boyfriend. One last flick of their tongues and a final lip nip and the two reluctantly pulled apart, their mouth glistening with their combined saliva.
"I'll talk to you later alright? Thanks for everything again." Naruto whispers with his forehead pressed against the ravens.
"It was my pleasure." Sasuke places one last lingering kiss on his blonds soft plump lips before pulling away. "I'll talk to you later, text me when you're home so I know you're safe."
"Yes Mom." the blond teases with an eye roll.
Sasuke smirks lecherously, "I prefer Daddy."
"Kinky bastard." Naruto snorts then smacks the raven's ass earning him a light yelp. Naruto leans in, seductively whispering his final tease of the evening, "but I think you have that backwards, you'd be calling me Daddy baby boy."
With a wink Naruto chuckles, "I'll be sure to text teme." The blond then walked away waving lazily, leaving the flustered, stuttering raven to pick up the pieces of his equilibrium.
