CHAPTER 4
(LAFAYETTE'S P.O.V)
"I must have drank too much Hennesy," I grumbled as Mario pulled the car aside. "We both know that's a lie," Tara grumbled back. "Bitch we live in Bon Temp. What you see is what you get. Mario why'd you stop?." "Don't you guys want to find out why a rare mystical creature is in Bon Temp?." "At this point." I spoke up, turning to Mario. "Don't nobody care 'bout no mystical creature that happens to walk up in here. Trust me I have seen enough supernatural to last a lifetime." "I think we should check it out." Mario pressed as I sucked my teeth. "What if we don't check it out, and it hurts one of our neighbors and friends. Worse yet a kid. Do you want that on your conscience?."
I reluctantly opened the passage door, knowing that Mario was right. It was better we checked it out now, then leaving it knowing it could be a danger to anyone.
The three of us quietly crossed the road, as we approached Bon Temp's forest."There it is," Tara whispers and points at the unicorn who was a couple of yards from us. The moonlight bathed the unicorn's milky white skin, while it stood with its back to us staring out at the lake. "So how do you think we should approach it?," Mario whispered to me and Tara. "Oh now you ask that question." I sarcastically respond. Suddenly the unicorn turned to face us, as we all froze in fear. "The woman in the middle," the unicorn spoke with a strong male baritone voice addressing Tara. "Are you Tara Thorton?." Mario and I glanced at Tara, who looked like she had forgotten her own name.
"Yes," she finally managed to say. "I'm Tara." The unicorn took a few steps forward, as the three of us took several steps back, not sure if this creature was friend or foe. "How do you know my name?," Tara questioned. "I heard the faes mention you," it casually informed her. "Faes?," Tara echoed in confusion. "You are Sookie Stackhouse's best friend, am I right?," The unicorn asked, shocking Tara. "Since you are Sookie's friend, I need you to take me to her home to see her." "Why?," Tara demanded, her tone of voice becoming instantly aggressive. "I mean no harm," the unicorn informed Tara. "I can assure you that I only want to help Sookie, and if you help me in finding her, I will reward you greatly…" "Then we want some of your healing water from your horn," I spoke up, causing Mario and Tara to exchange surprised glances at me.
"Look," I said to Tara. "I've read up on these motherfuckers," pointing to the unicorn who just blankly stared at us. "They have healing properties to heal any illness. I say after we help the unicorn, we let it give us some of its water to give Aunt Lettie to drink. So she never picks up another bottle of alcohol again." "If we take you to Sookie," Tara said to the unicorn "And no harm comes to her, then you will give me some of your healing water." Tara asserted. "Alright," the unicorn agreed. "Lafayette drive my car," Mario suddenly handed me his car keys. "Why?," I asked puzzled. "'Cause I'm going to ride a unicorn," he informed me. "You need someone to guide you to Sookie without humans seeing you right?." Mario asked the unicorn. "Tara and Lafaquette will follow, but in the car on the road so I'll tell you the shortcuts to take to get to Sookie." Five minutes later Tara and I were heading to Sookie's with Mario riding the unicorn in hiding. As Tara and I drove in silence, I realized I couldn't even trip over the situation. 'Cause this was another casual night in Bon Temp.
