Wednesday, Bedroom, Morning
Today was the day, and Michael was waltzing around his apartment whilst running a brush through his golden locks as Kyu watched him.
"Why would you ask her out on a date without even coming up with a plan first?" She asked him as if he was supposed to know the answer.
" I don't know, I wasn't expecting her to say yes..! I told you yesterday that we would see what happens so I wasn't banking on asking her out on a date." He spoke as he pulled the brush through a knot in his hair with a small whine, wincing his eyes at the harsh pull.
"And you didn't even bother asking her what she likes to do in her free time. That's a self-earned kick in the balls." Kyu crossed one leg over the other and leaned her elbow onto her knee as her eyes watched Michael mill about his dwelling.
"Don't remind me. We were too busy talking and flirting so the question didn't pop up..!" He was starting to worry; this was his first date in two years and he didn't want to blow it, but the fear of failure was starting to cloud his judgement.
"Dude, you're stressin' out wayyyy more than you need to be." Kyu snapped him out of his anxious state, making him turn his attention towards her.
"Then could you please give me a hand here? I'm freaking out if you couldn't tellt." That couldn't be any more obvious as he was smacking his palm with his hair brush whilst attempting to devise a plan for he and Aiko's date.
Kyu couldn't help but giggle at the man's unneeded stress. Although it was enjoyable to see a man like him stressing about something like this, he clearly needed help.
"Alright alright man don't get your testes in a twist. Here's a tip that's helped many a client of mine; take her somewhere that you like to go to." She advised. Her advice wasn't like she was guiding him to take her somewhere specific; she wanted him to go with his own judgement and make his own decision.
Michael went to his closet as he let Kyu's advice sit in his mind as food for thought; he still had more than plenty of time to figure something out. What he did plan out was that he didn't want to take Aiko out to somewhere like a fancy restaurant right away; just somewhere casual so that they can learn a little more about each other that wasn't their turn-ons or cup size.
Michael's wardrobe was vast, but the shirts he had were feeling old; he needed something new to breathe a bit of life into his style. He had his shoes and pants locked down; since he planned for this to be a bit of a casual date he only needed a pair of form-fitting jeans and his trusty black chelsea boots, but he needed a shirt and that's where he had trouble. None of what he had hanging in his closet suited what he wanted.
"You're not gonna meet the Goddess of Love dude." Kyu joked. "It's a date; your first date. You don't have to get all fancy with it." She repeated what was blasting in his mind on repeat for the past fifteen minutes.
"I know that but none of my shirts fit what I want to wear for tonight…" He spoke.
"Then get a few new ones." She said simply. Michael couldn't argue with that; if he didn't have anything that fit what he planned to wear then he should get what he needed.
"I suppose we're going to the mall then." It was quickly settled where he wanted to go; the majority of his wardrobe was forged with products from the mall and a few tips from Haric.
"Nice; maybe we can get a few more chick's numbers while we're there. Hit on some girls at the salon." She jokingly nudged his shoulder as he threw on a pair of jeans, his walking shoes and a simple t-shirt. He was going clothes shipping so he didn't need to dress immaculately.
"I doubt I'd be getting a girl's number today Kyu if I want to be honest with you." Michael said as he tossed his locks off of his shoulders.
"I wouldn't say that; you've been on a roll for the past few days. Who knows,
maybe you'll start getting nudes by next week." She mused. The thought of receiving naked photos from someone like Jessie or Aiko slipped into his mind, making his cheeks slowly turn red.
"You're thinking about it right now aren't you, ya perv." She giggled, making Michael quickly turn his face away from Kyu, solidifying her call-out in stone.
"No I'm not..!" He hissed quickly, the red on his face becoming more prominent as he marched out of the room in a huff. The laughs from the love-fairy could still be heard as he grabbed his keys. Just as he was about to grab the doorknob he felt his stomach growl.
"Haaaa...Haric's gonna kill me for this probably." Michael sighed as he stepped out of his apartment. Kyu popped up next to him in the hallway, floating beside the man.
"What's Haric gonna kill you for?" She asked.
"He wants me to be constantly eating stuff like oatmeal and eggs with toast; stuff that people on diets eat." Michael explained. "But today's an exception; I'm gonna swing by the cafe and get something there."
"I never understood why humans diet so much. If they wanna lose weight, just stop eating what makes you fat. And didn't that blue-haired recluse girl say she worked there?" Kyu reminded him.
"If only it were that simple Kyu, if only it were that simple… And yes, she does." Michael affirmed as their walk led them outside. His body was hungering for something to eat, anything! And the cafe was a little ways away, so it was going to be worth the walk at the end of it all.
Wednesday, Nutmeg Cafe, Morning
The Cafe was in view as Michael and his fairy companion strolled up the street. He could practically feel his stomach wrinkling up as it let out another cry for sustenance. They were across the street from where the building sat as they saw Nikki slip out the door with a sigh of relief, pushing some strands of hair out of her face as she walked away from the building in a hurry.
"Hey there's that girl..!" Kyu pointed as if Michael couldn't see that blue head of hair from across the street.
"I can see her, Kyu. My eyes may not be that good, but I'm not blind." Michael said. His response to Kyu was picked up by the woman, making her turn around and notice the man walking towards her workplace.
"Morning Nikki..!" Michael waved, the woman stopping her walk for him to approach her.
"Morning…" Her voice was gruff and rumbly, her eyes revealing small dark spots underneath them as she yawned softly. "What're you doing here..?" She asked.
"I was planning on going to the mall today, but my stomach needs to be filled." Michael explained it as simply as he could, garnering a tired nod from Nikki, followed by another yawn. "You okay..? It looks like you're gonna pass out." Michael tilted his head, watching as Nikki's eyes blinked in an attempt to stay awake.
"Hm..? Oh, I was up all night last night playing games. The next thing I knew I only had three hours before I needed to come here." She explained sleepily, rubbing her eyes as she stretched herself out. "Thank God I got my break though. If you need something, my coworkers in there…" She pointed to the caffeine-holstering establishment.
"Where are you gonna be going..? Not many places are open for lunch right now." Michael asked.
"Just to the park; I need to relax my feet…" She answered.
Michael didn't want to keep the sleepy Nikki for too long so he hummed out, satisfied with her response. "Okay Nik, I'll let you go; don't forget to set an alarm if you plan to sleep." Michael smiled, Nikki letting out a tired huff as they parted ways.
The smell of coffee flooded Michael's senses as soon as he entered that building. He could never get used to how overpowering that scent was. The cafe was not as busy as he had thought; looking at the time he saw that it was just about ten o'clock so he unknowingly missed the morning rush of caffeine junkies. At least he thought so.
Standing at the empty counter was a woman with dark skin scrutinizing the area with a mild look of annoyance on her face.
"Ugh, unbelievable…" She huffed out, tapping her white-gloves index finger against the countertop as she waited for service of any kind to show up.
"Mmmmh~ I taste some dark chocolate~. I'll take a tall glass of whatever she's serving; know what I'm sayin?" Kyu hummed as she checked the woman out, making Michael shake his head at her comment. He should expect this kind of language from the love-fairy by now, but something new constantly comes out of that lewd pink head of her's.
"I get the feeling you're gonna want me to talk to her." Michael guessed right as he was also checking her out, but not in the sense that Kyu was. He was looking at how she was acting and seeing her face revealed that she was rather angry.
"You got that right. Now let's see…" Kyu observed the woman furthermore and gave Michael the rundown. "Since that Nikki-girl said she just went on break, I'm guessing that she left this woman's panties out to dry." Her explanation was met with a look from Michael reading 'did you really just say that'.
"Try to get on her good side; open up with something that she'll probably want to hear." She guided as Michael started his walk up to the woman. The aforementioned coworker that Nikki spoke about had yet to rear their head and serve the lady.
"This place closed? I don't see anyone here." Michael asked as he peaked around to try and find someone to help him and the woman out.
"No, this place stays open pretty late; it's just one of the only workers here went on break and now nobody's here." She explained, her voice growing more annoyed.
"Yeesh, customer service these days…" Michael huffed with an accompanying shake of his head.
The lady couldn't agree more. "I know right, it's ridiculous..! I mean really, is a cup of coffee too much to ask for nowadays? Soooo sorry to inconvenience you, ma'am." She said with a sarcastic wave of her hand. Taking a moment to recollect herself, she returned her gaze to Michael. "How long have you been waiting here..?" She asked.
"Well…" Now it was time for Michael to work his stuff and do a little bit of morning flirting. "I don't think I remember. When I saw you time just stood still." That was probably the cheesiest thing he could think of, but it did the trick as a smile formed on her face.
"Did you really just say that..? I don't think I've heard that one before." She commented, crossing her arms underneath her generous bust with a small pop of her hip. "I do have to give you credit though; that's pretty brave of you to just walk up and say that." She commented.
"Well what can I say?" Michael shrugged before leaning an arm onto the counter with a sly grin. "I'm a man who loves taking risks."
"That's a load of shit Mr. Sedentary." Kyu called out. If they were alone Michael would've attempted to strangle the fairy, but they were in public and she'd probably get turned on by it.
"Oh really now? So that's what you do; hit on girls at the coffee shop?" She arched an eyebrow and rested her butt on the counter to take some weight off her feet.
"Probably. Or it may be that I'm just doing what the magic fairy that follows me around tells me." Michael continued.
The woman laughed a little harder this time at his comment, "Okay, now I know I've never heard that once before." She inhaled. "Tell you what big shot, you've caught me in a good mood. I don't give in so easily on a normal day, so you should consider yourself lucky." She held her hand out. "My name's Lola, pleasure."
"I think I'd be unlucky in this case; I love it when a woman gives me a challenge." He took her hand and leaned down to give her middle knuckle a kiss. "My name's Michael."
Lola giggled with a small blush on her cheeks as he kissed her hand, "Oh look at you, acting like an actual gentleman. You've got the accent too, so I'm starting to think you're a prince now." She commented, making Michael smirk.
"Aww that's sweet to hear, especially from a beauty like yourself." He cooed jokingly.
Lola slid her hand out of his grip and fixxed her gloves. Thankfully their conversation continued even as Lola had finally gotten the coffee that she had come for. Michael got a breakfast sandwich and a bottle of water to fill his empty stomach. The two had grabbed a nearby empty table, and their talk continued.
"So you're working as a stewardess?" Michael asked.
"Mhmm, I've been working for the airline for about four years now." Lola answered. "And I find it rather enjoyable." She added.
"Oh..? How so?" Michael asked again, curiosity reflected in his hues.
"Traveling has always been something I've enjoyed." She responded.
"People always tell me that they like staying at home all day, but not this woman." She lifted up a thumb and pointed to herself.
"And working for the airline also gives me multiple opportunities to do some research; I have some goals that I'm working towards."
"And what would those be if you don't mind me asking?" He questioned.
"I haven't narrowed it down yet, but I want to start taking some steps into entrepreneurship." Michael perked out his lower lip to her response, nodding his head.
"That's a pretty nice goal to have." He commented, surprised that this woman was as driven as she was.
"I don't think I'm an outlier in saying this, but I think everyone should have goals to be constantly working towards." She stated before sipping on her cup and refueling her empty caffeine tank. "What about you? What goals do you have?"
"Oof what goals do I have…" Michael tapped his chin as he set his half-eaten sandwich down for a moment. "Hm...I suppose my current goal is to grow my skill set in drawing."
"Drawing? So you're an artist then?" She deduced.
"Yep." He nodded. "Freelance."
"Oh that's...interesting." She sounded surprised herself upon hearing his answer.
Michael shrugged, leaning to rest some of his weight on one of his elbows. "I know that it isn't as interesting as wanting to be an entrepreneur, but it's-" He was cut off by Lola before he could continue.
"Not at all..!" She placed her cup down and sat up straight, a look of determination on her face as she spoke. "Broadening your scope is a great goal to have. You've found something that you're passionate about and now you're wanting to reach out for new things; I think that's a fine goal."
Her compliment was taken with a soft grin as Michael scratched the back of his head. "Thanks Lola. It's like everyone in this city's so accepting of what I do, despite how 'feast or famine' being freelance is." He spoke.
"You only need yourself for support, Michael. Don't let anybody else tell you differently. You've already made this a career for you and if someone questions it then prove them wrong!" Her smile radiated drive and confidence, urging Michael to smile fully, his cheeks even growing red.
"Heh...thanks for that." That was all he could say since Lola was completely right; he didn't need anyone to tell him what he can and can't do with his career.
"You should see yourself right now; you look so sweet." She cooed.
"Well I'm glad that you find my face amusing." Michael playfully huffed.
"It's not just your face that's amusing, Michael." She started. "I find your voice to be rather sweet as well." She flirted, sending a playful wink his way. The two of them continued to talk for the next half-hour, or until Lola's phone went off.
"Wow, it's that time already." Lola's eyes slightly widened at how fast the time had flown. Her checking of the time reminded Michael of what he needed to do as well.
"I have a tendency of doing that; making time fly by." Michael joked, ushering Lola to let out a humorous scoff.
"Then I should be careful around you; I don't want all my time to be stolen by you, Mr. Thief." She replied as Michael crushed the wrapping his breakfast sandwich had come in.
"If there's one thing that my friend has taught me, it's that some things are enjoyable in moderation." He said.
"Are you saying that I should enjoy you in moderation then?" She arched an eyebrow.
"Possibly; I could also be hinting that if you want some of your time to be sucked up then you should shoot me a text." Michael smiled. Lola laughed at his request, holding out her hand.
"Okay Hotshot you have me sold. Give it here." Michael handed her his phone, to which she swiftly typed in her number and returned it to him.
"Until next time, Michael." She shook his hand once he had gotten his phone back, Michael responding in kind before Lola turned and made her way out the door.
The man and love fairy were back on the road with a full belly and attitude to take on the rest of the day.
"I thought you said you weren't planning on getting someone's number today." Kyu reminded him.
Michael shrugged his shoulders, "I did. But I feel like you'd never let me hear the end of it if I didn't get it." He responded.
"I think I'm starting to rub off on you man. You got her number so easy!" Kyu expressed her surprise at Michael's time with Lola and him being able to get the woman's number as easily as he did. Come to think of it, Michael's been getting women's numbers more often than any of her other clients.
"That could be the case, Kyu. You do give some good tips when I need them." Michael gave her an appreciative grin as they walked through the plaza towards the mall, approaching the giant building.
Author's Note: Hey hey! I apologize for the short chapter this time around; I recently quit my old job and am starting a new one the day after this chapter gets posted. I'd want to let you all know that the next chapters might come out a little slower than normal due to work but I'll do my best to get them to you! Peace!
