"Hello ladies and gentlemen of the Commonwealth, this is none other than Travis Lonely Miles. We have a special guest today here with us. As you all are aware, the Minutemen have been reformed into a new fighting force, known as the New Commonwealth Army. Which has led to controversial changes to their infrastructure. Some changes some would call unnecessary, but you don't take my word for it, we have a former Minuteman here with us to explain these new changes. Preston Garvey, the mic is yours."
"Thank you Travis, first off I'm enjoying the new you." Preston added.
"Oh don't mind me, all it took was a few good friends and a broken heart. Anyway, tell us about the NCA." Travis pushed the story forward.
"It all started in Concord, the vault dweller, Nate saved us from a group of raiders and then later on an actual Deathclaw. Though he may have saved us, and we're never going to forget that for as long as we live, but he wasn't the one who brought us to where we are today. A prewar ghoul, he was a former army staff sergeant before the great war. He pulled us out of the hole we dug, and reformed us into the fighting force you see today. Now I'll admit, we have much more to say, but I only have time to make this one statement."
"By all means, go on Preston." Travis resumed Preston's place behind the microphone.
"This message goes to all across the commonwealth. The minutemen may not be here anymore, but know that we're armed and ready to retake the Castle, and we ask for not just your support, but your prayers in our mission. This is no statement everyone, it's a promise. We're going to take back the Castle and we will ensure freedom to all in the commonwealth is not dead. Our General taught me these words, and I couldn't agree more with every word, 'This we will defend'." Preston finished, and nodded to Travis as he took his leave.
"Wow, even I got goosebumps. Things might just be turning out for the better here in the Commonwealth, but now here's a song a mentor of mine gave me. It's never too late to fight the good fight, and let this song show you all that. Here's the Ink Spots, This is Worth Fighting For."
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
I saw a peaceful old valley
With a carpet of corn for a floor
And I heard a voice within me whisper
This is worth fighting for,
I saw a little old cabin
and the river that flowed by the door
And I heard a voice within me whisper,
This is worth fighting for.
Didn't I build that cabin?
Didn't I plant that corn?
Didn't my folks before me
Fight for this country before I was born?
I gathered my loved ones around me
And I gazed at each face I adore
And I heard that voice within me thunder,
This is worth fighting for
The other day
We passed through a little old valley
And a carpet of corn for a floor
And it seemed there was somethin'
Way down inside of me kept sayin'
Son, that's worth fightin' for
Little further long
We passed along a dilapidated cabin
One of them kind
Was old man river
Flowin' right by the door
Seemed like this thing
Down inside of me
Kept on sayin'
Son. that's worth fightin' for
So, I got to thinkin'
Didn't I help to build that cabin?
And didn't I help to plant that corn?
And didn't my folks
Way yonder before me
Fight for this country
Way before I was born?
I gathered my loved ones around me
And I gazed at each face I adore
And I heard that voice within me thunder,
This is worth fighting for!

Nate's radio sparked on to that song, and for a moment a glimmer of home came back to him. The old life before the bombs, and memories of who he was. Deep down he understood why this country looked at him as a war-hero, but when the chips were down in Alaska every soldier beside him were in need of him as much as he was in need of them. They were all heroes the same as the Lieutenant.
"Hey, Blue." Piper shook the brotherhood initiate back to reality, "You dozing off on us?"
"Sorry, Piper, that song… It took me back."
Preston made his way back outside Diamond City while Piper was waking up Nate from his daydream.
"You did good Preston." Daly popped his mechanical knuckles to that response.
"Seriously you guys? You're gonna retake the castle?" Piper chimed in with excitement.
"Yeah, Preston suggested it, but right now we're going to need to put that plan on hold, saving your son is our priority."
"Mayday Mayday!" A raspy voice was heard on Preston's radio. Removing it from his hip he tried to listen on the signal, "This is Joel Bennet of the Commonwealth Responders. If you are hearing this, please help us! We are trapped inside of an apartment building at Lexington. The raiders are almost through the door. So please hurry we won't be able to hold them off much longer." The signal went silent and Preston carried a look of disbelief to the nature of the message.
"Preston?" Nate asked.
"General, I'm sorry, but I need to see to this signal."
"And you know what I taught you."
"I do, and I respect it, but this is personal. The Responders, they helped me and my group get out of Lexington, and they were the reason we were able to get to Concord. I need to help them."
Daly remained silent, "Well you're not going alone, take the APC and bring back-up. That new recruit could use some field training. Bring those people home, and make sure those Responders compensate us for saving their ass's."
"Thank you, General." Preston rushed his way back to the APC.
"Guess retaking the Castle will have to wait a little longer." Daly added.
"Don't worry, you help us, Sergeant Daly, we'll help you."
Nate and Piper nodded in response.
"Alright, let's go. Take us to bad guy baby boy!." Sally cooed at Dogmeat.
Bark! Bark!
Dogmeat chased over the scent further southwest.

Codsworth and Nick Valentine went searching for Protectron parts at the Cambridge Wattz Consumer electronics.
"So Takahashi needs a fission battery and a few spare circuit boards. Once we get those, we can finally get our ramen chef to speak more than one request." Nick explained as he held out the list.
"Yes, though Robco is no General Atomics, still not many people know that Robert House was the real founder of General Atomics."
"I'm sorry what?" Nick asked in complete shock.
"Well of course, Mr. Valentine. At the age of 17 Mr. House pulled some strings to have his brother put together the General Atomics company. Then of course, he founded Robco Industries at age 22. The man was a savant when it came to business. I can only imagine what he'd think of the world now."
"You're telling me a regular mister Handy can convince me he figured all of this out in just a few words?" Nick asked in disbelief as he began picking the lock to the electronic store.
"Well of course not, detective, I have been running every possibility and outcome in the past 210 years in Sanctuary Hills." Codsworth explained.
"Well… I can't say that doesn't make sense. I mean I've been around for about as long as you said yourself." Nick said while picking the lock open, "Alright let's go get those parts."
Inside the electronics store, Codsworth and Nick found a few spare circuit boards, not enough to what the ramen chef needs but it's a start. A few defective Protectrons had some good pieces as well.
"Hey Codsworth, take a look at this." Nick shouted.
"What did you find detective?" Codsworth shouted as he was catching up with a fully charged fission battery.
"Its an old poster, the Black Devil." Nick pointed.
"Ah yes, master Nate always enjoyed that hero when he was in a patriotic mood. Oh what's this radio doing here? Mister Valentine, do you mind?"
Nick Valentine switched on to listen to an old tune, the Battle Hymm of the Republic, "Hmm, this song… I'm getting a signal location at the Boston Mass pike tunnel."
"We should investigate later, for now we need to get these parts sent over to Takahashi."

Lexington hasn't changed, Ghouls still lingering in the alleys crept into Preston's spine. Luckily the dangerous raiders playing with bug guns on the rooftops were killed during their clean-up in the Corvega plant. Luckily the one raider in power armor was taken care of too, along with another power frame for the NCA's armory. Sadly the power armor's scrap plates will need to be melded into proper steel.
Preston brought the new recruit, Jake Finch, along with Hawthorne, and Sturges. Took some digging but the group was able to piece all the incident together, the Responders managed to break off from Lexington after helping Preston and his group escape. They fled between Mystic Pines, and found remnants of a Responder, Jake Finch and was taken back to Corvega by raiders. Luckily the raiders were clean in Corvega so finding evidence was easy, and now his last known location was north of Lexington.
Following the power lines as he recorded in his holotape, Preston and his group found a lone Responder, Jake Campbell, has been rescued.
"Jake Campell?" Preston asked.
"Preston?" Jake rushed over to the familiar face, "You magnificent mother fucker! You're the last person I expected to see… And you're in a different uniform…"
"The Minutemen had to convert into a new fighting force. It wasn't easy but the results were worth it. C'mon we'll get you to safety, and we'll find the rest of your Responders."
"I have a way we can reach the Responders. We had a radio transmitter at the electrical hobbyist club. It's been decommissioned but the transmission codes should still be there. There's even a deactivated assaultron there, could be worth taking a look for at least."
"We could use the extra ordinance for sure. Preston?" Sturges pondered.
"Alright, the radio codes wont be useful yet, but the assaultron can be a good boon for certain. Let's go get the codes'' Preston concluded.
"Thanks Preston, how's Jun and Marcy?" Jake asked.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Charlie and Kat were enjoying the ramen bowls Jun and Marcy were able to put together. The salty spice they made from scratch had a hefty amount of love put in its mixture.
"I wish Kyle was here to see this." Jun had a smile on his face. Not for grief, but for relief, the memories of his son brought a sense of peace to his mind.
Marcy was still silent during the whole ordeal, but she acknowledged his response with a nod.
"I think we should have a bowl, I'm hungry." Marcy smiled.
Preston's APC was seen parking just outside the bridge.
Preston arrived with everyone along with a new member from the Responders. Sturges and Jake hauled over the bridge the deactivated assaultron.
"We could use this guy when we retake the castle." Sturges said as he hauled the bot over to his makeshift workshop at the main house with the power armor station.
"Hey Preston, can I see your radio for the codes?" Jake asked.
"Sure, go ahead." Preston assured, going to file out his report.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Dogmeat guided the group to the old Fort Hagen base. A rigged mannequin and a mutilated assaultron brought the three pre-war veterans to the one mercenary's hideout.
"Fort Hagen?" Nate asked.
"Well, Blue looks like it's just you and me, Dogmeat needs a break." Piper added, to which he responded with a whine.
"Oh you know I didn't mean it like that, you big puppy." Piper scratched the back of his ears.
"It's ok, Elliot, Sally, I need you and Dogmeat providing overwatch, there's a door on the roof, make your way up there so no one can leave from there. if Kellog is here then I won't have him leaving this place alive. Daly, you and Piper will be with me. Now let's get my son back from this son of a bitch."
