Unbeaten by the rain…

Many believed that everything happened for a reason, that one thing led to another regardless of human will or interference. In one world, Izuku Midoriya was meant to attend UA high, meet many friends, create bonds like none other. Gradually he'd learn to control the awesome power of One for all after breaking his body time and time again. After mastering his full power, he'd go on to become the world's greatest hero, a beacon, a paragon, a symbol.

But… What if One for all was activated… Differently?

Izuku was laughing when he felt it, at first he thought it was his stomach rumbling but he quickly remembered that All might had just bought him breakfast. A thrumming sensation began, the One for all wielder stopped walking and began to sweat. His mentor quickly noticed, asking him if he ate too fast. The green eyed boy shook his head, the air began to thrum with power slowly but surely.

"My boy… Are you feeling One for all this quick?" A sharp gasp, a lick of green electricity. Winds kicked around the two as several bystanders watched with worried and fearful faces, Izuku nodded with a painful expression and fell to his knees. What else could it be? The winds picked up as the green electricity transformed, cackling blue energy taking its place. Sparkling apparitions funneled around his keeled over body, his hair shooting up and burning like a blue flame. The side-walk below cracked, and with it his skin burned with a thrumming, infinite energy. A sphere of green appeared around his body, the only thing visible was his silhouette…

Toshinori was frantically yelling, "Young Midoriya! You're using too much! Your body won't be able to handle the strain, let go of it!" His heels dug into the ground, bracing against the fierce winds as cars continued to drive by. Finally, the One for all wielder was consumed by a brilliant flash of light, one that blinded.

For a second or two, it seemed like a second sun appeared in the street. The ephemeral energy could be felt throughout each soul in his vicinity, the outline of the One for all inheritor revealing himself once more as the light dimmed. Finally, standing tall, Izuku was revealed in all his glory. Panting as blue energy escaped from his now covered eyes, his pupil no longer visible.

Toshinori finally let himself open his eyes, coming face to face with his student once again. He brought down his guard and felt the air leave his lungs, the gaunt man widened his sunken eyes at the sight. He took one step towards the panting teen, his mind at a lack for words.

Izuku on the other hand, his mind was racing at a million miles an hour. Each thrum of his newfound strength, each whir of his electric aura, the sound of his cackling energy… He felt invincible, unstoppable…

Like All might…

The pain ceased for him, and he finally stood tall. Slightly more angular in his jaw, an inch taller, the tiniest bit more muscular. The epitome of this strength, this irrefutable strength flowing through his every vein… Izuku forgot ever being weak, ever needing to be saved, his body thrummed with a strength incomprehensible to man. Charged eyes observed his surroundings, he could see with one hundred times the clarity, smell with one hundred times his ability, time slowed… He watched terrified faces morph into confusion, eyes reflecting his form in the early morning light. He watched a small child running along the sidewalk, he saw a man riding his bicycle, he saw a diner filled with attendees…

Then he saw his mentor.

"Midoriya! Can you hear me?" The wind was a gentle breeze now, but the thrumming sound of electricity and raw power still permeated around him like a coat.

"Y-yes All might, I… Can hear a lot more, I can hear your heartbeat…" Toshinori laughed, a pure joyful laugh. His long skeletal fingers combing through his golden locks of hair in disbelief.

'I'm strong, I have One for all now!' Izuku was grinning ear to ear as Toshinori approached him, his mentor saddling him with praise after praise.

"My boy, this is spectacular! You're using One for all so seamlessly! It's almost like you were born to wield it!" Izuku smiled softly, his total ease at this stand still continuing. The OFA holder could feel the dopamine in his brain churning and pumping throughout, he clenched his fist open once and then closed. The mere action resulted in a small wave of wind flushing over his mentor.

You might think after easily controlling OFA, life would be easy from now on. No need to train it, no need to control it right? But, in this world, Izuku has the exact opposite issue in a matter of control. You think this is convenient?

Aha.

No.

"You need to relinquish your hold on it, you haven't even tested it yet and we can't have you firing it off in the city now can we?" Izuku tried to relax, to release his newly found quirk. He tried to relax his mind, relax his body, muscles…

Nothing worked.

"I can't turn it off, All might!" The gaunt hero took notice of his distressed look, damnit. He couldn't deny he expected this to happen but, he expected it to happen during the entrance exams…

This was bad.

"Damnit, okay listen to me young man! You're operating at 100% right now, be careful!" Izuku nodded, the sweat appearing on his face vaporizing immediately. He couldn't do anything like fire a punch, that was obviously not ideal.

The gaunt hero pulled out his mobile device, waving off any inquiries by the small set of bystanders expertly. All the while Izuku vibrated in place, it was almost like this power was begging to escape from underneath his skin, like it was alive. It took all his will to hold back the proverbial tidal wave of power at his fingertips, he had to stay put.

Breathe, 'Let go of it, it's power is awesome but you can't control it yet…'

Izuku closed his eyes and concentrated, his breath quickened. What if he couldn't stop this power? They were in an urban city, with bystanders around stopping to watch. He felt it below his skin begging to be released, slithering sensations. The tension in his body was reaching extreme levels, his heart thumping at speeds inhumane.

"Damnit! S-stop! You're my power now aren't you?" Izuku crouched over and continued his efforts, Toshinori dialed a number on his device. Sweating heavily, the number one hero ran his free hand over his temples.

Toshinori was freaking out, Izuku obviously accessed 100% off the bat like he did, a mere clench of his fist was enough to send out a strong gust of wind… This was bad, he needed to call someone who could cancel his quirk before it got out of hand.

'I can't use my muscle form here with everyone watching…' He looked back at his prodigy, the flaming blue haired teen was muttering to himself anxiously, he wasn't prepared to control or to use his awesome power…

"D-Damnit! Please stop!" His eyes began to water, it was becoming unbearable. The tears coming from his eyes fell away into steam as the raw energy from his body vaporized them in an instant, a bystander tried to get closer but felt the insane pressure coming off his body. A man with a hairy face scowled and dialed a number on his phone, these two were obstructing his way to work.

"Aki!" A frillish scream, Toshinori and Izuku both looked to the source. A mother yelling and reaching out for her child, the little girl was busy watching the commotion and got distracted in the middle of the street.

Izuku saw it all in vivid detail, a truck driver was distracted by him also. It was a simple conclusion, Izuku watched as the man's expressions shifted minutely, millisecond after millisecond passing. Transforming into a shocked visage, slamming on the brakes as he realized the girl was in his way.

It wouldn't be enough.

Foolish, maybe. But when Izuku Midoriya saw someone in trouble, especially when it was HIS fault… He could not sit still, and at this moment, his legs moved on their own…

Biting down on his teeth, his muscles contracted in a split second. And in that split second… He felt another presence, another sensation. But his instincts roared at him to save her, this girl distracted by the power he let out. Izuku knew that he was fast enough, strong enough now.

He could be a hero.

In less than a millisecond, he crossed the distance. In his adrenaline the world slowed even more, the One for all inheritor could see everything. The little girl a few feet away from him, her innocent green eyes and amused smile directed right at him. Her shimmering brown hair reflected his energy, he could see himself in the reflection of her eyes. He saw…

A monster.

Red, red everywhere. The One for all wielder watched as pulp and bone matter vaporized instantly under his touch, the energy from his leapt was too much. Trying to grab her and move her out of the way, it was not what his power would allow. His strength was far greater than it should be, Izuku felt the skin fall away and burn at his touch. The little girl, was not recognizable.

Izuku was screaming internally, his mind was too fast… TOO FAST.

'MOVE, GO! PLEASE!' His mind was turning delirious, finally his body caught up. His face turned to horror, his hands had pulverized the girl where she stood, her blood was on his hands. He screamed in his mind, screamed for the girl to move out of the way, to heal herself, to live. But he knew deep inside…

He'd killed her.

And then the rest of the world caught up, the millisecond next… The ground cracking from his leap from what felt like hours ago, Izuku didn't have time to possibly comprehend what he had just done. The magnitude of his action, of his mistake.

'I…'

He disappeared from sight, and the explosion of energy and winds followed his trajectory. Finally, the world resumed as normal…

For a razed city block, maybe.

Sirens, yelling, crying, mothers wailing, fires burning…

His ears rang, the green haired teen got up from his position, buried deep in the innards of a building, his clothes in tatters. He could hear his heart thumping, slowly… Izuku dusted himself off with little accuracy, his hands near limp. His face was marred and covered in dirt and dust, a blank visage that leisurely looked around. His muted green eyes scanned his surroundings for a small second, before he lost his balance. His reaction time slowed to a halt, and he let himself fall further down into the debris.

Barely conscious, Izuku stood once again and brushed the rubble off of himself. Standing shakily, he still couldn't hear anything but the ringing of his own ears. Izuku looked at his right hand, clenching his blood stained palm slowly and without focus. Light filtered in from behind suddenly, Izuku felt the warmth of the sun finally arrive. Standing atop the pile of debris, the wind blew his tattered clothing around as the sun beheld destruction of a magnitude he'd never seen. A hole large enough to fit a tank through was visible, the sun shot through the punctured skyscraper and beheld the star, the shadow of the building casting over the destruction.

He looked further, smoke raised to block out the sun as fires roared across the vector of his leap. Dozens of buildings toppled over, it looked like a hell scape from here. But Izuku was not phased.

Izuku scampered down unevenly, his hands missing the piece of steel as he climbed down. The One for all inheritor decided to fall down instead, releasing the steel beams entirely. His knees buckled under his fall, and he finally made it to ground level. His expression still mute, covered with dirt and dust. He blankly processed the news helicopters training a light on his position, Izuku stepped over a corpse maimed by a falling piece of debris, almost tripping. It was still quiet, for all he could hear was the sound of his own heart beat.

Izuku walked through the debris, an uneven step to his walk. Leisurely, his dream-like environment was hard to decipher… Everything was a haze, voices fell on deaf ears. Crying fathers trying to tear kids out from the debris, arms sticking from underneath, Izuku mutely registered it...

'I...'

Rubbing his forehead, Izuku felt the vibration of yelling in his face. His muted eyes locked with a man, a man, Toshinori. But his face was locked, he watched as civilians from all over carried each other, some with missing legs, some in body bags, some with entire parts of their face missing. Two large hands took him by the shoulder and dragged him, sitting him down on a stretcher. The One for all wielder looked around at his hazy dream like surroundings, continually rubbing his forehead. Lazily. He watched as two figures spoke in front of him, and as heroes of all types began their rescue operations... Normally, he would be frothing at the mouth with this many heroes but...

'I…'

'I'm so tired.'

'Am I… dreaming?'

"Acute stress reaction. Your young man here displays all the symptoms, off the bat I recommend TFCBT based on my basic diagnoses but we'll be running a few more tests once we get him to the hospital." The paramedic waved his hand up and down in front of him, no response.

Toshinori sighed, his eyes moisturizing. Placing his face into his palms. "How could things go so wrong… master?" He looked up to the sky, as if asking a question to the heavens above.

Nothing.

Sighing again, the man turned to his successor… His eyes were blank, the dust and dirt on his face made him look far older than he was. Like he'd seen what no man ever should, a mere 15 year old child sat in the stretcher before him. This 15 year old child who he leisurely handed his quirk to, not thinking that it would lead to anything more.

At first he thought that Izuku would be a prodigy, like how he was. Instantly able to master One for all and use it's full strength, but… Then it hit.

Back then, his One for all was less than half the strength of the current One for all… The realization hit him like a truck.

"What have I done?" The paramedic gave him a raised brow, he forced Izuku to lay down on the stretcher for transport and shook his head.

Toshinori grabbed onto the stretcher, taking Izuku's hand in his own and looking him straight in the eye.

"I'm so sorry my boy, I shouldn't have given you this power without gently cushioning you to use it properly. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you from this, you entrusted me to be the greatest hero and I let you down, I..." The gaunt hero felt a single teardrop, falling onto the shocked teen's face.

"I'm sorry, I'm going to make this right Young Midoriya, I promise."

"Japan was never the same after that, I'm sure you can guess… And neither was I, but I'm sure you'll find that out soon enough. I became a murderer in a split second, everything I had worked so hard to get… Was taken by my own instinct to save…"

"Maybe, it would've been better if I never got that cursed power at all…"

End, chapter 2.
