Beast Boy and Starfire walked in silence down the path. It had been about a day since Happy had vanished. Beast Boy fell asleep during his last watch, and when he and Starfire woke up, she was simply gone.

"I wish I could have gotten to say goodbye." He said.

"Are you referring to the Happy Raven or Raven in general?"

"I don't know. Both, I guess."

"Well, hopefully all goes well so you will not need to."

"Do you think coming here was a good idea?" He finally asked, "Do you think we'll even figure anything out?"

"Whether we do or not, I still think it was a good idea. 'No stone left unturned' as they say."

It was another few hours until they reached the cave entrance. Waiting for them right outside, was another Raven. This one was sprawled across a couch that looked quite similar to the one in the tower. As they got closer, Beast Boy saw her hood was brown. He also noted that she was barefoot. What part of Raven could this represent, he wondered. The two stopped in front of the couch and waited for Raven to speak.

She didn't speak. In fact, she didn't even look up from her book. They waited another several seconds.

"Um…hi" Beast Boy grew impatient.

"Hey." She responded as if he were the most annoying thing in the world. He was used to that at least. She went right back to ignoring them again. He was used to that too.

"Aren't you going to tell us about this place, or whatever?"

"You really aren't going to make this easy, are you?" She sighed, "Fine. That's The Cave of Eternal Darkness. No light is able to exist in it. In addition, it also dulls all other senses, so a keen sense of smell or whatever won't be able to help either. There's absolutely no way you will be able to get through."

"So, what do we do then?"

"I'm able to see in the cave, so I would have to guide you."

"Alright. Lead the way." Beast Boy said.

"How about after this chapter, or how about after this book. Actually, how about never. Never sounds good."

"The library may have the answer of how to help you. Please, don't you care?" Starfire asked.

"Not really. Especially if it means needing to get up." Lazy responded. Starfire dove and picked her up bridal style.

"Very well. If you refuse to move, I shall carry you." She said. Lazy didn't care to put up a fight. Beast Boy looked into the cave and gulped. As he took his first step partially in, he heard a click and a large metal cylinder materialized from the darkness and sent him spiralling back.

"Oh, yeah. I forgot about the traps."

Beast Boy shook himself off. What was with these Ravens and leaving off crucial information?

"Why don't you go first?" He suggested. Starfire cautiously entered, being sure to step over the place where he had. She appeared to vanish instantly. He called out, "Starfire?" Her upper half appeared out of the cave.

"How odd." She said, The girl appeared to faze in and out of existence as she leaned forward and back. After the fifth or so time, she clasped Beast Boy's hand.

"So we do not get separated." She said with a gentle pull into the void.

As soon as he was completely engulfed, nearly every animal in Beast Boy's repertoire was telling him to leap back out. Aside from Starfire's hand, he felt nothing. He stomped the ground. No sound. No sensation at all. As if nothing but thin air was somehow stopping his feet's advance. He shouted out for Starfire. He think he made a sound. He heard a reply, but it was off. It was as if he was being dragged underwater. Farther and Farther from her voice. He had to keep talking. He feared otherwise he would forget she was there.

"Is Raven still here?" He thought he asked.

"Yes. I am holding her with my other arm." She seemed to say. He heard Raven's voice next. It was perfectly clear.

"We will first walk straight for about five minutes. There aren't too many traps, but still, walk slowly."

"You know what walking here reminds me of? That feeling you get when you are walking up steps and you think there's gonna be another one, but then there's not. Except you know, it's every step."

"I am not familiar with that feeling." Was her voice actually shaking? "If this is what it feels like, then I wish to never have to experience it." She tried hovering above the ground instead, but it was somehow even worse, "Do not attempt to fly." She warned.

"Yeah, there's gonna be traps in the air too, so you definitely don't want to do that." Lazy added.

Beast Boy's grip gradually got tighter and tighter onto Starfire, despite the fact that this sensation was also fading. Regardless, they forged ahead, hoping the Raven's guidance would be enough. However with each and every step, he felt he was slipping further and further away.

"How much longer?" He eventually asked, able to just barely feel the vibration of his own vocal cords. He wasn't sure how long they had ACTUALLY been in the cave, but it had felt entirely too long.

"Thankfully, we're close now." Lazy said, "We're approaching the last major obstacle. It's essentially a minefield, so it'll be a pain to guide you through. Beast Boy, morph into something small and hold on." He did as he was told, "Ok, now Starfire, turn to your right and take exactly five steps. Good. Now turn forward again and tilt your head to the left."

"Like this?"

"Yes. Take three steps forward and as you take a fourth step, move back to normal." Starfire complied, "Now walk like you are on a tightrope until I say otherwise." Lazy looked ahead and noticed something that was definitely different from her memory of the place. How annoying that something had been changed.

"Something is wrong up ahead." She said,

"What is it?" Starfire froze as she spoke.

"The ground caved in. It set off a lot of the mines though, so that's good. But, it looks like there may not be any way out besides down the hole." Lazy willingly got off of Starfire and took a look down, "Ugh, yeah. We have to go this way." She wrapped herself back around Starfire, "Hover down gently. Somehow, not all the traps have gone off."

Starfire did as she was told. They managed to get down the hole without incident.

"Last thing," Lazy began, "Fly a couple feet forward and then descend to the ground." Starfire flew just an inch farther than she was supposed to, "No. Not that far."

It was already too late. A shockwave sent them all flying in opposite directions. The hit caused Beast Boy to revert to his human form.

"Don't move!" a voice shouted. Beast Boy panicked and did just what he was told not to. He felt another shockwave launch him into the air and then another. With each passing second he felt more likely to lose consciousness. He had a hard time even telling what was happening to him. It felt like every second a different part of his body was getting hit by a truck. His resolve had all but vanished. Was there anything he could do now? Was this it? He felt one last blow to his back. This one was accompanied by the sensation of someone's arms wrapping around him. That was a bit odd, he thought. Maybe his brain just couldn't take the thought of going out alone. He allowed his eyes to shut. Not like they were making any difference anyway.

"Open your eyes." He heard clearly. The light was too much to bear for a moment. When his eyes adjusted, he found he wasn't actually dead. The cave's exit was behind him. What had happened? Had Star somehow managed to grab him? Lazy collapsed on the ground a foot away.

"Ugh, what a drag." She said. Starfire flew over to Beast Boy and offered a hand.

"Are you able to stand?" She asked.

"I think I am." He was a little unsteady, "What happened?"

"The mines flung us out of the cave. When you did not come out, Raven ran back in for you."

"No way. Is that true?" He asked. The lazy girl still hadn't moved an inch. She decided to completely ignore his question.

"Could one of you carry me to that couch over there?" She pointed to a coach that was the same as the one on the other end. Beast Boy volunteered. It was clear she was not going to move herself and Starfire had already done enough. As the Raven wrapped her arms around his neck, he couldn't help but feel...something. He wasn't quite sure what it was. He decided to just chalk it up to the fact that his emotions were still riding high from that whole ordeal. Sloth returned to her book as soon as she was set down.

"We still ended up exiting into the same place, which doesn't really make sense. I don't really care to think about it though."

The library was now in sight. Even from a distance, it was apparent the building took some inspiration from ancient Greek architecture.

"We're almost there!"

"Thank you friend! We could not have done it without you." Starfire shouted back. Lazy's head tilted ever so slightly up. That was the best acknowledgement they were going to get.
