"I interrupted didn't I?" Lincoln asked taking in her flustered look as she walked off towards her bedroom.
"Nope, it was nothing" she replied with a smile. Lincoln chuckled knowing that wasn't the case.
"Sorry" Lincoln called after her, the sound followed by her door clicking shut.
She flopped down on her bed wondering what just happened. Seconds later headlights hit her window, she knew it was Roma and her own words came back to haunt her, whatever happened minutes before was nothing. She laughed at herself before turning the light off and laying down, the car door slamming was the last thing she heard before falling asleep.
...
Bellamy walked across the yard, he was almost to the steps of his porch when headlights illuminated the street. He slowed seeing Roma pull up, he knew he needed to end whatever they had. He took a deep breath and jogged to the her side of the car. She opened the door and he moved into the space so she couldn't step out.
"Why are you just roaming around outside at night in the dark?" she asked looking up at him.
"Roma, this isn't working for me anymore." Bellamy was quick to get to the point. No need in dragging it out.
"What? Why? it's what you wanted. Your exact words. No attachments" she sunk back in her seat, her eyes flicked to the window next door that just went dark.
She looked up at him, seeing his eyes drawn in that direction also.
"It's her, isn't it?" Roma snapped.
"It's not her Roma, it's me. I'm not getting what I'm looking for from this"
"So tell me what your looking for and we can try it"
"Sorry, I'm not trying anything, it was fun, but we both knew it wouldn't last. You are always welcome at the parties here Roma, we were friends first, we can go back to that." He spared her one last look before stepping out of the way.
"Fuck you Bellamy" She slammed the door and drove off without another word.
He stood there for a second watching her drive off before making his way inside.
He laid awake for awhile, he broke things off with Roma for himself and for her, he didn't want to hurt anyone. After kissing Clarke tonight, he wasn't sure what he wanted. He was sure that Roma deserved better and he needed to put a stop to that before thinking about himself.
He tossed and turned, dreams of doing far more than kissing Clarke kept him from reaching the deep sleep he needed. Morning came far to fast, leaving him grumpy and opening the store on his own. The girls weren't scheduled until one, which he assumed was in their favor this morning.
...
Hours later he stood at the counter going over orders, he looked up at a display but the women outside caught his attention. Clarke, Harper, and Octavia all walked towards the store. His eyes were drawn to Clarke. Her hair was down, sunglasses on. The girls all laughed, her smile made him smile. Harper reached for the door and they all walked in.
"Well, well, well. Judging by the sunglasses you two are sporting, I'd say we are still hungover" Bellamy laughed.
Octavia flipped him off heading to the back. Harper grabbed a basket and meandered up and down aisles. Clarke pushed her sunglasses up onto her head.
"Here, we brought you a coffee." Clarke handed him a cup. His fingers brushed hers, causing pink to crest her cheeks, she let go walking away without looking at him or waiting for a thank you.
His eyes followed her to the back until they met his sisters. She raised her eyebrow at him as she walked towards him.
"So you want to explain that?"
"What?" he asked sipping his coffee.
"The weird tension between you two" Harper answered from behind him.
"You two are imaging things." he went back to checking his list.
"No way did I imagine her blush over handing you coffee." Harper whispered. Octavia folded her arms looking at him expectantly.
He met her stare.
"Get to work, I'm not paying you to watch me." he motioned to a stack of boxes near by.
Octavia leaned towards him lowering her voice to a whisper.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Roma texted me this morning... something about wanting to know if you are banging Clarke" She watched her brothers stance stiffen before he looked at her.
"Stay out of it Octavia, she's trying to start shit."
"Bell, I don't care either way, as long as your happy. You know that. " He looked up at her.
"I know."
Clarke walked towards them.
"Where do you want me?" she asked Bellamy, his dreams flooded his mind. His eyes met hers, she could see the humor in them. She tried to recover from letting her mind join his.
"To work..." her cheeks were on fire. Bellamy couldn't resist. He leaned towards her.
"We are talking store related, not my body or yours correct?" his smile was incorrigible and the second her eyes met his he wanted to pull her to him.
"Uh, yeah, the store" she stuttered.
"Come with me, I'll show you the plans" he motioned to the back.
He closed the office door.
He put all the new display pages on the desk,
"You can choose which ones you want to do, the number in the top left corresponds with the number on the box." He motioned to a stack of boxes in the corner behind the door. She nodded before turning to face him.
"Bellamy, last night, I. Um it wasn't, I shouldn't have" He watched her struggle to get words out. He reached out tilting her head up.
"Look at me, it is what it is. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I like spending time with you, you were drunk. If anyone should apologize its me"
"Yeah but Roma"
"No, there's no Roma, I ended that" Bellamy replied seriously.
"Why?" she asked, her voice barely audible.
"Just in case you wanted me to kiss you again" he whispered. She chewed her lip nervously before moving her eyes to his mouth. She willed any force to help her function. Almost like an answered prayer Octavia burst through the door slamming it into Clarke and sending her a few steps forward into Bellamy who was leaning on the desk. His arms shot out grabbing her waist.
"Shit sorry, I need box 4" Octavia apologized grabbing her box and walking back out the door, leaving it open. Clarke silently thanked the universe, she'd love nothing more than to fall into his arms but she needs to be able to think straight when she does it.
She felt his hands squeeze her waist bringing attention back to him.
"Care to elaborate what you are looking for, is this something you want?" he asked her. She was glad he was straightforward because she couldn't handle games, or a putting together a sentence at the moment.
"What would we call this?" she asked. He thought for a second before answering.
"Friends, spending time together, seeing where it leads" he replied. Clarke pretended to think it over before nodding.
"Yeah, I'm okay seeing where it leads" she nodded.
"Okay, Well I'm going to go back to work" she backed out of his grasp quickly, before grabbing a paper off the desk.
She moved over to the boxes crouching down to find the matching number while she filled the room with awkwardness. The door shutting grabbed her attention.
Just as she stood up Bellamy turned her and pushed her against the door, crowding her with his body. His lips covered hers, he kissed her lightly, running his tongue along her lip to coax her mouth open. As soon as she gave in slightly he ran with it, deepening the kiss. He pressed his body harder into hers, his one hand wrapped around her keeping her tight to him and the other tugged her hair lightly. He moved to her neck, lightly dragging his lips over her skin, he stopped. She could feel his hot breath on her seconds before he nipped her lightly before sucking one spot beneath her collar. Her head tilted up giving him better access. He moved to another spot sucking harder. A moan leaving her lips. He smiled against her skin as she froze. She was mortified that just came out of her mouth in the store.
He met her panicked look, with his amused one.
"Whatever the awkward tension was, isn't going to work for me. I figured I could probably work it out of you."
"Bellamy, you made me...I just...in the store. What if someone heard us?"
"What if? You forget I'm the boss" he smiled. She shook her head, amusement evident.
"See you just need to relax, go for what you want. Don't over think it Clarke"
