Chapter 11: Homer and Marge

Written By: Super Saiyan Blue Juuhachi

The next morning the family was eating breakfast when Homer spoke.

"So, Marge, now that I'm done with my overtime, what do you say you and me go out tonight?"

"That sounds wonderful, Homer. Bart, Lisa, you don't mind watching your sister while your father and I go out, do you?"

Before they could answer Maggie chimed in "No! I don't want them!"

"Maggie—"

"I want Laura to watch me!"

"Alright, Laura it is. Just have to call Ruth and see if she is available…" Marge pulled out her phone to text her friend

"Put your phone away, Marge. I'll go talk to her."

"Are you sure? I was just going to send her a text."

"Yeah, it's fine. You just sit and relax, and I'll go talk to her."

A few minutes later, Homer stood in the Powers household, silently watching as Ruth cleaned.

"I'll send Laura over as soon as she gets back from being with her dad."

"Great. Oh, and there was something else. Something I was supposed to tip toe around…" Homer looked at the ceiling, scratching his head.

"My divorce." Ruth replied dryly

"That's it! Whoo-Hoo! I'm glad one of us remembered. That could have been embarrassing."

Later that evening Bart is in the bathroom taking a bath when Lisa sees him and steps inside

"Bart! Are you taking a bath?" She asked as she approached the bathtub.

"Yes, I am and it would be nice to have some privacy around here for a change."

"This wouldn't have anything to do with Laura coming over does it?"

"Hey, sometimes a guy just likes his skin to look his yellowist."

Lisa grins and shakes her head before walking out of the bathroom.

A few minutes later Bart walked into the living room to find Laura sitting on the couch talking with his sisters. They stopped and turned as he entered the room.

"Hey, Bart." Laura greeted, smiling at him

"Hey." He smiled back at her

"What do you guys want for dinner?"

"I don't care, Bart, what do you want?"

"Ladies choice." Bart replied, sitting down next to his girlfriend

Inside the restaurant "Two Men From Kabul" sat two men, their expressions were angry as they kept their backs to each other, clearly not speaking to one another.

Above the counter where they were sitting was the banner "All Food Half-Price" No one was there though, the only sound that could be heard was that of the wall clock ticking.

"Sometimes I think you want to fail!"

"Shut up. Just shut up!"

Just then the phone that was positioned between them began to ring. They turned to each other briefly before looking at the phone. Diving for it at the same time, they picked it up only to wrestle afterwards who got to answer the phone.

"We used to eat this when my dad was stationed in Vandahar." Laura said as they sat on the floor with containers of food around them.

"Take your kafta bi sanieh and dip it in the labna."

They did as she instructed and Bart smiled, "Now that is good labna."

Homer and Marge sat in a nice italian restaurant eating dinner

"It has been so long since we had a nice dinner out like this, it's nice."

"I know and I'm sorry that I don't take you out more."

"No, I'm sorry, Homie. I didn't mean that the way it came out." Marge apologized to her husband, "I understand that your job is stressful and that when you come home you want to relax."

Homer shook his head, "That's no excuse I could have taken you out to dinner more, I could have made an effort to spend more time with the kids."

"Working that overtime made me realize just how much that I had taken for granted. But all that is going to change I promise. From now on I'm going to spend more time with you and the kids."

Marge smiled and reached over, taking his hand in hers.

"I love you, Homer."

"I love you too, Marge." He replied, kissing her hand

"Come on, Bart, if I can teach Maggie to Waltz I can teach you."

Laura and Bart watched as Maggie waltzed with Snowball II.

"Just follow me, put your hand on my hip." Laura grabbed Bart's hand and put it on her hip

"Okay." He replied, his voice cracking as the nervousness took over.

As the music plays Bart looks at the floor, careful not to step on Laura's feet. Once he started to get the hang of it, he looked at her and smiled. Laura smiled back at him as the two danced around the den.

When the music comes to a close, Bart and Laura stop dancing and stare at each other affectionately.

Just then, Marge and Homer walk through the front door and the two pull apart.

"We're home!"

"Mommy!" Maggie ran to her mother, hugging her leg

"Hey, Maggie. Were you a good girl for Laura tonight?"

"Mm-hmm." Maggie nodded her head

"Well, that's good. Thank you again, Laura for babysitting. We really appreciate it."

"Oh, it's no problem. Anytime you need a babysitter, don't hesitate to ask."

"Here you go." Homer handed her the money that he owed to her

"Thank you, Mr. Simpson."

Marge looked around noticing they were missing a child.

"Where's your sister?"

"Upstairs. Said that she had some studying to do."

"Come on, Maggie, it's time for bed." Marge picked up the little girl and carried her upstairs, Homer following after her.

"Well, I better get home, got school in the morning."

"I'll walk with you." Bart said, walking outside with her

"Well, thanks again for watching Maggie. Mom originally wanted me and Lisa to watch her, but Maggie insisted you do it."

"Really? I had no idea she liked me that much."

"Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure she sees you as another big sister."

Laura smiled, "That's sweet."

"Yeah, it is." Bart nodded his head.

There was a brief pause before Bart continued, "So uh, Laura, I wanted to ask you something."

"What is it?"

"I know we couldn't this weekend, but I was wondering if maybe next weekend you wanted to go out on a date?"

"I can't. My dad comes and gets me on the weekend and I spend time with him."

"And we can't during the week because I have my janitorial duties to do after school."

They thought for a moment,"What if we waited until your janitorial duties are over to go out on a date? That way there is no pressure and it gives them both something to look forward to." Laura suggested to him

"Sounds good to me. Goodnight, Laura."

"Goodnight."

They share a quick kiss before Laura walks away, Bart walks back inside, closing the door behind him.
