Chapter 11: The Run-up

Mildred Wondered her way to Dinner, Her Mind filled to the brink with this year's turmoil. It felt like it was following her with every step. On one half, Mildred Hardbroom sounded like a promising young witch that will go far with Hecate and Pippa on her side. But, The Looming danger of all she's learned was making her head hurt.

Rogue Witches and Wizard sounded.. Tiresome. Just thinking of it was enough to make Mildred want a nap. Where was Juile now? What had she done with the stone.. Why would she need the artefacts.. Her Mum was never into reading much, so why would she need so many books?

None of it was making sense to her, but she wanted it to make sense. She wanted to be in the know! "Millie?" Maud's voice called out. She looked up from her feet to see her friends stood staring at her like she'd grown two heads. "Did everything go alright?"

Mildred nodded, she needed to focus on the positives! She now knew some more about Hecates and got that pesky name thing off her chest. Once this whole thing with Julie was out of the way, She could focus a little more! That in itself made her feel bad, She Loved her mum.. But not like this. "Yeah! I think everything will be just fine." With her friends, they wandered over to where they would sit for dinner.

Over the next few weeks, That routine fell back in. Mildred Woke up just before the first bell. Hecate was never there when she woke up, but sometimes Pippa was. Usually on a Monday, she had weekly meetings with the other half of her school to make sure all was going well. But otherwise, Mildred was left alone come the mornings. She also found time to draw and paint come the evenings, sometimes with Pippa, and sometimes Hecate would watch as she marks.

On this particular morning, a full school assembly had been called. Thankfully, it was for a good reason and not for any rogue witch nonsense. Mildred took her rightful place by her friends.. The Teachers Followed shortly after, taking their places upon the stage.

"Silence for Miss Cackle!" Hecate yelled out, quitting the Hall of squabbling school girls before sitting down herself.

"Thank you, Miss Hardbroom.." Miss Cackle looked upon the hall, its ceiling and sides already decorated for Halloween, Much to HB's disgust. "All Hallow's Eve is upon us! The Plan is as follows.. At Eleven this evening, You'll meet in your Form Rooms for Final preparations.." She looked over to Hecate who stood up.

"If You are attending tonight, You'll be expected to uphold the witches' tradition. You'd been given a book on this earlier in the year, Read it over before you even think about stepping into your Form Rooms." Her Voice held a Venomous twist.. Something Mildred recognised now as stress. Her eyes scan each and every one of the students, especially the troublesome ones, before she sat back down once more.

"You'll head over to the Location just in-time for Midnight.. And the Witching hour!" Miss Cackle's arms shot up, Letting the school cheer for what was to come. There was nothing quite as exciting. This was the first Witching hour the students would be taking part in! It was a massive honour. But with that came a massive possibility to screw it up. Mildred was good at that..

Pippa stood up next to Hecate. "The Timetable has been pushed forward by Half an Hour! Allowing you plenty of time to get ready for tonight's festivities! I look forward to seeing what each and every one of you has in store." She sounded nothing but encouraging, kind, sweet, all the good stuff really.. It was a different type of Encouragement compared to the other teachers.

"Now, we don't want anyone to be late! Ever striving forwards!" Miss Cackle yelled out, dismissing the school to whatever duties they had decided to adventure on this time.

Mildred can't say she'd ever felt so witchy before! It.. Made her feel somewhat complete in her Witch Statues.. And that was good enough for her!

It's not the longest Chapter, But i'm hoping to upload more soon, i'm just trying to get back into it. Make sure to leave that review!
