One day at school in the cafeteria, Carlos was finishing up studying for a test he had in his next class period. Once he was done memorizing, he put his notes, books, and flashcards away, until he heard a familiar voice.

"¡Hola basuro!"

Carlos groaned in, that voice belonged to someone rotten and that rotten individual was Jorge Rivera. Ever since they were young children, Jorge has always been a bully to Carlos and sometimes to Consuela, but mostly Carlos. As they gotten older, Jorge developed a sharp tongue, flirty, and more ruthless. Carlos looks over his shoulder at the chubby teen, "Don't you have somewhere else to be Rivera?" He responded venomously.

Jorge snorted, "We just happen to cross paths coincidentally", he replied with a malicious smirk, "Besides, you can't do jackshit anyway."

Carlos clenched his hands to fists. He fully turned facing the other teen with animosity.

"At least I have real friends, unlike you!" Carlos spoked, fuming in a low tone, still enough for Jorge to hear. He really despised Jorge the most, especially with all the trouble he caused Carlos.

"I have friends", Jorge retorted, Carlos rolled his eyes in unamusement.

"Oh please, they're all temporary and they're disposable to you. They never last long, seducer."

"Says the one who can't woo people."

"At least I have better self control."

"At least I'm not a grump."

"You're one to talk."

"You wanna fight me Suárez?"

Carlos looked at him as if Jorge had a deadly disease, "Not a chance, plus you got other supes your age to spar with you. You already know by now I'm not your type to fight you", he spoke in irritation.

Jorge frowned, "Well, you're the seem deserving of a good beating", he fumed with gritted teeth. Carlos looked over his shoulder once more, coolingly at Jorge.

"Like how your dad was deserving to die?"

The silence that followed was broken only by the chatter of other students.

"What did you just say?" Jorge looked at the blue-eyed boy reproachfully. He looked as if triggered by a traumatizing memory. Carlos turned to face him directly as he stood up.

Carlos rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Oh don't start being innocent now, you know exactly why your dad deserved to be slaughtered."

Jorge's torso tensed with anger. "Last chance. Take back what you said about mi papi."

"No! You and those demons from hell have never belong anywhere to this world, wven is you made your own nation! You all are freaks! You're not special, Rivera! It's just something your father tells you to make you feel better about yourself because you all came out wrong!"

Jorge shot across the room like a bullet and tackled the Carlos to the floor. Jorge stood over Carlos and raised a fist to strike. "Nobody talks to mi padre like that!"

Carlos looked at him with fury and rage.

"Get off me, you filthy brute! I'll never accept with you nor your kind with open arms! Let alone empathize nor genuinely heed you! You should've died with your father!" Carlos shrieked with fury. With that, Carlos received a hard in the face by punch by Jorge.

Carlos quickly kicks Jorge right in the belly, causing be to kneel back in pain of the impact. This caused the attention of other students and causing them to chant. Carlos quickly straightened up as he could and tries to recover. He wiped the small amount blood off the corner of his mouth.

"Estúpido jabalí, serves you right", Carlos sneered in a huff. Jorge got up as he recovered and with a screech, he charged at Carlos. Carlos quickly dodged Jorge's advanced and tripped him into the garbage can. The retire cafeteria laughed. Carlos smirked in triumph, "So much for having an IQ. I guess all supes are dumb, no matter how useful and advanced their inventions are".

Soon, four teachers came to where the boys are at. Two escorted Carlos away to the principal's office, while the other two helped Jorge get out of the trashcan. In the principal's office, Carlos sat in silence with an ice pack on the left side of his face. The silence was long, until Principal Solís broke the silence.

"Do you know why we're here, señor Suárez?" She asked solemnly. Carlos looked up at her.

"Yes, because I was in a conflict with another 'student' in the cafeteria."

"True, but it's the same student again", Solís responded deadpanned,"How long are going to keep this up Carlos?" She asked concernly.

Carlos sighed, "I'm sorry ma'am, but he keeps stalking and provoking me too many times."

"I understand why you had to defend yourself, but you could have walked away or reported him to authority without him knowing."

"I tried all that, and he still manage to harm me", he gritted his teeth in anger. The door opened and Carlos turned. It was Jorge and he was a mess. He was stained everywhere from garbage waste, his glasses were damaged, and his eyes were bloodshot red as if he was crying. Carlos quickly looked back to the principal before Jorge notice him looking.

Jorge sat in a chair next to Carlos and 6 feet away from him too. Jorge looked down, with an exhausted and broken expression.

"Hola señor Rivera, do you know why your here too?" Solís asked with a soft look to her, like a mother comforting her sad child.

Jorge sighed while he still looked down, but sat up straight.

"I'm here because I fought in the cafeteria", he responded dryly. Carlos scoffed, but Jorge paid him no mind.

"Indeed Señor Rivera, but why do you keep doing this?" The old woman asked once more. Jorge frowned, "I don't know not I don't care, maybe because I want validation!" He responded venomously. Principal Solís gave him a sympathetic look, while Carlos looks away in irritation.

"Jorge, I understand what you're going through, maybe if--", Jorge angrily slam his fists on the desk, furiously.

"NO YOU DON'T!" Jorge screamed, "Nobody understands what I've been through!" Exploded the teen.

"Now Jorge--", Solís was cut-off again.

"Mi papi was the only person who cared about me and what I gave him in return, nothing! I just gave him more suffering! My mother, never gave a shit about me nor my father! Not to mention she despises us! My grandfather is already dead and all my other relatives live far away! They're never going to take care of me after my dad because they never cared about me and they'll never will! They'd rather as if I wasn't alive!!" tears falled out of Jorge's eyes.

"Jorge..."

"I never had any genuine real friends, I never get admiration from my peers in general, and I'm supposed to receive disrespect as a person! I WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO HAVE SWEET THINGS, EVEN HAPPINESS!"

Everyone stayed in silence, with the exception of Jorge's heavy breathing and sniffling. Jorge sat back down and sobbed with his hands covering his face. Carlos was weird out by this. Why did a supe have to tell him his "woes"? If anything, he's just doing all of that just to get out scott-free. Supes are deceitful and they're always are. Tricksters are never trustworthy.

"Just give me my punishment and call it a day. I'll take any punishment, I just want this to end", Jorge spoke hoarsely. The principal nodded in understanding. She wrote a slip and gave it to Carlos.

"Take this to you next class, Carlos. You have a test and I don't want you to fail. However, after tomorrow, you will get a 3 day suspension".

Thus taken the Suárez male aback, "what!?? B-but what I did was justifiable! He's--", his sentence was cut short with Solís silencing him.

"That's enough Señor Suárez! Just leave so you can take your test, I wish you the best of luck".

Carlos stood up and left to the door, angrily. In every school, all he wanted was to be left alone peace, unless he was with friends. Was that too much to ask? He hated school, he hated the supes, the immature kids, and the irresponsible authorities. He hated that the school staff victim blamed those unfortunate to be in the presence of bullies.

He wasn't even fond of supes at all! Especially being second bested and never had the opportunity to reveal his true potential! Well he wasn't going to stand for it. He'll show them and tell exactly where they could shove it. Others like Jorge never adored him nor his family, to Carlos that is. Others like Jorge also, want to harm his loved ones too. Carlos vows to make sure those horrid beings like Rivera will have a brutal comeuppance.

Three hours later after school, Carlos was in Miracle City's park. He always admired the park, it always helped him think better. He was sitting on the bench, until he heard a familiar voice.

"You seem bothered."

Carlos turned around and saw Iona, "Iona! You startled me!"

Iona smiled, "Well I just happen to pass by and wanted to stop by. What seems to be troubling you, amigo?" She sat next to Carlos.

Carlos sighed, "I just got suspended for three days, all because of that thick, pig-headed brute!" He responded though gritted teeth, venomously.

"That Rivera again huh?"

"Yes, that little bastard had the audacity to attack me and make up a lame excuse to get out of trouble scott-free, while I get blamed for it!"

"Sorry amigo, you done that yourself when you insulted his father to his face."

Carlos rolled his eyes, irritatingly, "He deserved it Iona, people will understand that supes, along with their sympathizers, deserve to be beaten into bloody pulps."

"Well, he did gave you a nasty bruise there", said Iona as she glanced at the slightly faded bruise on the left side of his face,"Does it still hurt as it did before?" She asked concernly.

"No, but it's still painful", he responded.

"Good thing he didn't break your bones or worse, literally killed you! We'd be devastated if it happened!" Iona joked with a smirk, while Carlos snorted.

"Very funny, mi amiga."

"Well, I better not keep you long, I have to be home by 7:30 pm. My folks worried by now", Iona got up and looked over her shoulder,"You might wanna head home now yourself too. Folks go crazy at night, wouldn't want you to get in a tizzy! Want me to walk you home?"

Carlos gave a small Chuckle,"No no, I know my way back by myself", responded Carlos as he too got up, "Besides, I can take on an oversized monster."

With that said, they parted ways. Carlos carefully walked down the sidewalk. The sunset was turning into nightfall. The only light came from thestreetlights. The street was dead silent, save for the sound of owls and crickets. A chill breeze swirled a few wisps of fog along the mostly deserted, dark street.

Slightly nervous, Carlos walked faster. He suddenly jogged, and the jog turned into a run. He ran as hard and fast as he could using all the strength imbued in his legs from years ofworking out. At last his strength began to fade, until he saw his house. As soon as he made it to the doorway of the house, he quickly got his key out of his pants pocket and opened it. He closed tge door shut behind him, without looking back and locked his door, tightly.

Carlos sighed in relief.

"Carlos?" A familial voice came. Consuela came out the kitchen to greet her brother. She was covered in flower and batter, luckily for her, she had her apron on.

"Oh! Hola hermana, I didn't notice you were down here", Carlos smiled sheepishly. Consuela gave him a stern look.

"I heard what happened in our school today", she crossed her arms,"You shouldn't have spoke to Jorge."

Carlos sighed, "He was the one who harassed me", he replied, "Besides, it's not like he's in love with me. He doesn't even respect me enough to be lovers and he's a supe."

"Carlos, I understand you both despise each other, but was that even necessary to bring his parents up?? That sounded like you had a death wish."

Carlos groaned in annoyance. As much as he loved his younger sister to death, he honestly shouldn't be this surprised with her reaction. She was always the one to keep Carlos in check, even if got to the point it became unnecessary.

"Rivera deserved it, Consuela. Fortunately for me, I managed to dodged and 'throw' him out the trashcan", he snickered at the memory, though Consuela remains unamused.

Carlos cleared his throat awkwardly. Consuela Rubbed her face in exhaustion.

"Carlos, please promise me you won't get into anymore trouble, including fights with people please? If not for me, at least promise on our parents," pleaded Consuela. Carlos hesitated for a moment. His sister gave him a tearful, pleading look. Carlos gave in, "Fine, I promise", he sighed.

Consuela smiled and gave him a tight hug.

"OH THANK YOU HERMANO MAYOR! I knew you'd do the right thing! Dinner is ready by the way, go get washed up!"

"That's what big brothers are for", he choked.

With that said, she let the older teen go and ran back inside the kitchen, gleefully. Carlos groaned internally. WHAT had he started?

Annnnd I finally did another chapter. It took longer, as to be expected, but I'm ok with the results. Consuela is 13 while Carlos and his peers are 15-16 years of age in this chapter. Jorge's dad and grandfather died recently clearly hasn't processed his feelings about his father's death, since Jorge totally loses his shit when anyone mentions it. Carlos is an ass. XD
