Chapter 12: Hecate's Meeting

So much could go wrong when you include Children. They have been uneducated in this matter for far too long! One one hand, Hecate rather keep them far away from this sacred wishing tradition. On the other hand, She believed they needed to learn and uphold it.

She couldn't help but remember her first Witching Hour, way back when she was Ten. Her mother was having a rather good day when she took her out. They danced out under the full moon, the sound of the traditional drums ringing out around them. She could never remember seeing her mother look so free and content as she did then. The Pure Joy and fulfilment of the Witching hour was something else entirely.

She briefly wondered if Mildred's first Witching Hour would be as enlightening. Hopefully it will be. Entertaining, Enlightening and wonderful in every aspect. That's what Cackles was aiming for!

She'd watched every student during the assembly. Gaging their reactions with criticism. Thankfully for them all, their reactions were acceptable..

She'd Only had one class today, fifth years. They were a little chatty, but otherwise she was able to leave them for the rock transformation potion. Come the end, she made sure to change them all back, of course. Though, it was sometimes tempting to just.. Leave them. But Miss Cackle would be less than impressed at having to teach rocks. Hecate didn't think there was much difference to normal.

"Ah, Miss Hardbroom!" Mr Rowan-Webb cornered her just after lunch. "I'm sorry to bother you, Miss Cackle just announced an emergency meeting! She wants us all in her office". This struck Hecate. Miss Cackle had every opportunity to announce a meeting today, whether it was at breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any other time through the maglet. There was only a few hours till the girls would be in form, things still needed sorting.

It really wasn't ideal, which just said that whatever it was, was sudden and very important. Emergency doesn't even cover it.

Hecate tilted her head slightly at Mr Rowan-Webb before marching both of them to Miss Cackle's Office. Poor Rowan looked like a scalded school child following on after HB. His downcast eyes didn't help that.

"Miss Hardbroom and Mr Rowan-Webb. Do come in." Miss Cackle yelled as she saw the two of them enter the doorway. Hecate took her rightful place to the right of miss cackle. Pippa stood on Ada's Left. The Two opposite witches resemble that of Cackle's angel and devil.

All the while Rowan closed the door behind him. This was the first meeting where -every- teacher was present. Of course, the cooking staff, librarian and Caretaker were off doing their usual jobs. But, anyone who taught was present.

Hecate found herself yet again people watching. She'd done it all through school. She found it interesting to look at the friend groups that merged and changed over time. Simply from watching, she learned that Miss Drill and Miss spellbinder did not get on, They kept shooting each other dirty glances. It made her question how their living situation was going..

Miss Spellbinder was joined by Miss Nightingale and Miss Gimlet. The Three of them Gossiping in hush tones.. Quite the opposite to Miss Drill, Miss Bat and Rowan-Webb, loudly telling each other about the day they had!

She could help but feel like she'd seen this scene before. The Gossiping popular girls versus the oddball outcast and co. She briefly glanced at Pippa, Remembering how they too, were on opposite sides of the picking order.

Miss Cackle stood up, letting out a subtle cough to get the other teacher's Attention. "Hello, Ladies and Gentleman.. You're probably wondering why I've called you here.." She looked around the room, face grimacing in polite apology. "I received a letter of utmost importance during Dinner. The Rogue Witch, Miss Hubble, Had been spotted not too far away, I'm afraid.."

The room erupted into worried whispers. Hecate remained stone faced. She should really inform Mildred, but.. Maybe that would worry her. Or, she'd do something foolish like try and find her. That's what Joy would have done.

"Miss Drill has the first year, Miss Gimlet the second, Miss Hardbroom has Year Three, Miss Pentangle The Fourth years, and Miss Bat the Fifth years.. That Leaves Miss Spellbinder, Miss Nightingale and Mr Rowan-webb. And, Ofcourse, myself.. I'll be going on ahead to the Location with Miss Spellbinder.. Miss Nightingale and Mr Rowan-webb will wait until all the other years have vacated before putting a spell over the castle.." She Explained.. Looking over at every teacher as she said their names.

"Miss Tapioca and Mrs Semolina will also be joining us at the location, so don't lock them in. The other Staff will remain here to watch over the school in our absence. The Spell is just extra security.. We won't be too far away, and can return quickly in an emergency!" She sounded like she was trying to convince them.. Or maybe herself, that going through with tonight was a wise idea.

"As for while we are there.." She continued."I want you all to have fun, but, keep an eye out, and remember to watch the Children with eager eyes. Especially Little Miss Mildred. She Won't like being watched, but the last thing we need is her, or any of the students going missing."

Hecate knew Mildred would hate that, she just hoped the others were subtle enough that she wouldn't notice.

"Are there any questions before I let you go get ready?"

"Yes, Miss Cackle." Miss Gimlet stepped forward. "If we encounter this Hubble, what do we do with her?"

"We keep the students safe, you do not try to be a hero. Someone must contact the great Wizard immediately.. If we encounter her, our main concern is Child Safety." Miss Cackle addressed.

Miss Gimlett nodded before stepping back, her spot now taken by Miss Drill. "Miss Cackle, what if she attacks the Witching hour directly? Is there a game plan for that?"

"Ah, A Brilliant Question Dimity. Miss Hardbroom, Miss Pentangle and Myself will Hold her off. Miss Drill or Miss Spellbinder can shoot on ahead to the school, and contact the Great Wizard. The Other teachers can focus on getting the Students back, and doing a headcount.." She'd clearly thought this one through. "Miss Nightingale, keep an eye on Fourth year in that case. And Mr Rowan-Webb, keep an eye on Third year."

She looked across the teachers, now very quiet. "Now, if they would be all. It's about time we got ready." Not moments after she said that, a loud crash was heard from the hallway..

All the girls should be busy up stairs getting ready, not hiding out in the hallway listening in on there teachers! There was nothing more off-putting than an eavesdropper. She moved forward with great strives to open the door.. And confront the criminal.

Dun Dun Dunnnnnnn! Cliff hanger, oh no! Anyway, make sure to revieeeeew!
