So, Here's the same Question as before, but with a different Character.. (My Answer to the previous Question will be at the bottom.)

Question: If you've read the books, which Casting choice do you think is most accurate for Hardbroom? (The Movie, 1998, 2007 or the New Worst Witch), Is that one also your favourite, or is that possession taken by another?

Enjoy! (13's my lucky number and it might just be yours too.. This is almost.. Three chapters in one.)

Chapter 13: Listening in on Hecate's Meeting

For Mildred, the waiting for 11 was tortuous! She wanted nothing more than for it to be Dinner time already, So she could get ready and set off for the Witching Hour! Come Dinner time, a thought struck her. She didn't really know -how- to get ready for it. In the book given to them, it states hair down, formal attire and ancestral artefacts. It also stated that Festive face-paint and hair accessories were allowed.. But, that seemed more for the children than the adults.

How did she know she was doing it right? She didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb. She supposed she could always take her clothing up to Maud and Enids room, but with ethel there, she might just stick out more..

She looked over towards where Hecate normally sits, but it seems her teacher-slash-caretaker had already departed.. Pippa was still at the table but.. As much as Mildred Liked Miss Pentangle, she wasn't Hecate..

Mildred excused herself from dinner, first checking The Appartment to find no Hecate… Maybe the Potions lab? No luck there either! She supposed she must have been busy getting things ready.. That's when she spotted Mr Rowan-Webb Approaching her..

"I'm sorry to bother you, Miss Cackle just announced an emergency meeting! She wants us all in her office" He Announced to HB.

Mildred had three choices at this moment, Wait back at the Apartment, Hover close to Miss Cackles office so she could catch her when she exited, or.. She could.. Hover right next to the door and.. Take notes.

She knew the choice should really be to head back to the Apartment. But what if Hecate went off to do something else after the meeting? Then Mildred would be well and truly screwed.

Hovering close by ment she could catch her, and would still be within the rules..

On the other hand, if she hoved -next- to the door.. She could for once be within the know how, rather than the last to find out, like usual. If it turned out the meeting was about.. Miss Tapiocas porridge, then she'd leave.. But, what if it was something important? Mildred needed to know.

She followed behind them quietly, waiting until the door closed before moving closer.. She looked around, checking for any more teachers coming, before placing her ear against the door to hear Miss Cackle had already started..

"I received a letter of utmost importance during Dinner. The Rogue Witch, Miss Hubble, Had been spotted not too far away, I'm afraid.." Mum was near? That's Not good. Was she back for her? Maybe revenge? Maybe there was something else she wanted..

Mildred continued to listen the best she could. She Supposed now at least she knew the plan.. It wasn't of much use to Mildred, but it was something at least.

"Especially Little Miss Mildred. She Won't like being watched…" Damn right she won't like it! She understands -why- they want to watch her, but she doesn't have to like it! She doesn't mind.. Too much.. When Miss Hardbroom is the one keeping an eye on her.. But only because it feels.. Almost motherly. But when the others do it, it feels like babysitting.

"Miss Hardbroom, Miss Pentangle and Myself will Hold her off.." Mildred's worry only heightened at this. She feared greatly for another Juile versus Hecate.. She Never wanted to put HB in Danger again. Never! She wouldn't want Pippa or Miss Cackle to get hurt either. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt for that matter!

She caused a mess, and now she had no idea how to fix it. She'd hoped after last year, that it could all be forgotten. That the summer holiday was like a re-set for them all. But then Mother dearest had to go and destroy Pentangles!

She was so busy being mad at Julie, she almost missed Miss Cackle saying: "Now, if they would be all. It's about time we got ready." Mildred Panicked, she was expecting more of a goodbye than that.. Something that would buy her time! She turned around in a hurry, hoping to get closer to the end of the hall..

But in true Mildred Fashion.. She ran straight into the suit of armour placed so very conveniently by Miss Cackle's Office. As she fell down in a clattering heap of armour and person, she couldn't help but feel that it was put there for this reason alone..

She heard the door swoosh open. Looking up like a deer caught in headlights she found Miss Hardbroom staring down at her. Not a worried stare, or a curious stare. This was the Hardbroom stare. Angry and unforgiving..

"Mildred…!" Hecate yelled out. The Mildred in question could just tell that she was going to yell out her last name too. What she didn't know was which one.. She doubted Hecate would be cruel enough to call her Hubble.. But she seemed too mad to call her Hardbroom.

"H-Hi Miss Hardbroom…" She all but whispered. Fearful eyes staring up.. She relaxed slightly when she saw Miss Pentangle and Miss Cackle stepping out to look at Mildred.

Hecate raised her hand up in a swishing motion, the armour and Mildred lifting up off the ground and back to their rightful place. The Armour standing tall and guarding. The Mildred in a one sided stare off with Hardbroom.

Hecate broke eye contact to look towards the other teacher, then back to Mildred. Her Mind most likely working at a thousand Miles a Minute. "What on earth do you think your doing, child!" She demanded.

"I.. I was actually looking for you.. B-Being from a non witching family, i wanted to go over the book with you.. Before I get ready…" She gulped as she looked over the teachers. What she really meant was 'I wanted your help getting ready'.. But knowing that more than just Miss Cackle and Pippa was listening in, she didn't want to test her luck.

"And you thought you'd just stick around to eavesdrop.. If there is one thing I can not abide by, is eavesdropping!" Millie hated the sound of a mad HB. There was something unnerving about it. Of course, Hecate had yelled recently, she was Hecate! But, she hadn't heard that angry, scary yell directed at her for a while..

"I'm sorry Miss Hardbroom." Mildred Eventurly said, Small and weak. She looked over the three disappointed teachers before her..

"I think a week's detention is in order, Miss Hardbroom.. But, for tonight, We should all be preparing." Miss Cackle said from besides HB. Nodding to the other teachers inside.

Mildred stepped to the side, allowing the various Disappointed adults to disappear to their own quarters.. Miss Cackle instead chooses to retreat into her Office, closing the door behind her.

"I'll be going to check on The Pentangles Girls before getting ready.." Pippa said, smiling at

Hecate before passing Mildred with a reassuring Wink.

With that, it was just Hecate and Mildred, standing awkwardly in the middle of the hall. "I-I really was just wanting to ask for your help getting ready, Miss Hardbroom.." Mildred didn't quite know what to call HB most of the time. Right now, it was just the two of them, Hecate would be acceptable.. But.. She was also outside Miss Cackle's office in school.. So.. Miss Hardbroom felt less likely to get her yelled at. "But.. then I heard Miss Cackle mention Mum.."

Hecate's face softened ever so slightly. She looked over at the young girl, waving a hand and transporting them to the Apartment. Away from any prying eyes or ears.

"And what exactly did you hear?" Hecate took a step closer to Mildred, a very threatening step as she loomed over her.

"M-Mums close.. So, We gotta be careful.. You'll all be watching me.. And the others.." She chose to speak plainly and honestly. No point hiding anything from Hecate, she'll find out anyway, she always does.

"You were not supposed to know." Mildred was about to argue back before hecate continued. "You were meant to have a stress free night.. Tomorrow, I'll expect 100 Lines that read 'I must not eavesdrop'. For every day I do not have it turned in, you'll be adding another 100 lines. Understood?"

"Is that.. Along with the detention, Miss Hardbroom?" Mildred saw Hecate's frown shift slightly before she shook her head.

"I think that, along with this current news, will be punishment enough.."

"Thank you.." Mildred said with the smallest Smile of gratitude.

"Now.." Hecate started, almost small and uncertain. "What did you need help with?"

She was changing the subject.. Better than her walking away to do other things, Mildred supposed. "I.. I wanted your Help to get ready for tonight. I've never been to any.. Ceremonious witches gig.. "

"What did your book say?" Hecate asked, her confandance booming once more.

"It Said.. Hair down.. So, I'll just brush through it once I'm dressed.. Formal attire, I thought might be the full school uniform.. Hat and cape and all..? Ancestral Artefacts.. I.. I don't quite know what that means, but.. I don't think I have anything of Mirabelle…" Mildred shook her head slightly. "There's also face paint and hair accessories.. I have some but i dont really know what to do with it.."

Hecate Quietly listened to the list given by Mildred before nodding. "Indeed. Put on a clean school uniform, with plain socks, black is preferable. Give your hair a brush. Then bring me your accessories and paint." Hecate turned around on her heels, heeding to her own room, leaving Mildred to do as told.

Once in her room, Mildred closed the door and replaced her worn clothing with clean and crisp clothing. She had to really dig for it, But she found a pair of long Black socks. No doubt they would fall down at some point, but for now, she found herself looking rather smart.

She decided to brush out her hair, and leave her Cape and cap on her bed for the time being. When she exited her room she had to pause. Hecate sat on her throne with a Book, She wore a plain Black dress that looked.. Velvet. She had one of her usual corset belts on.. Only, this one had gems in the middle, it made it look classically old.

What struck Mildred was the long flowing hair of Hecate. She'd seen her hair down a couple of times. Whenever she told them off at night, she always had her hair half up, half down. Even at the party, it wasn't completely down. Here, with her hair in loose curls completely down, she looked far less threatening..

"Yes, Mildred?" Hecate said without even looking up.

"Sorry.. You just.." Mildred started, when Hecate looked up to her, she finally said. "You just look really nice, Hecate."

Surprise washed over her Guardian's face before she smiled slightly. "Thank you, Mildred. Sit down and place your things on the table. We'll have you sorted in no time."

Mildred did as asked, sitting on the couch closest to Hecate, she placed her things down onto the table. Hecate sat forward, Looking through the gear Mildred had placed before her..

HB picked up the Black face paint and told Mildred to stay still. Mildred had no clue what Hecate might be putting onto her face. For all she knew, Hecate had written "Worst Witch" Over her forehead..

Around ten minutes later, Hecate had finished. She placed the paint down and spoke. "You're not Five, You don't want to go over the top with it." Hecate picked up a Long Clip in hair strand, notably Red to match Mildreds Sash, She gently clip it into the top of Mildreds hair before placing a couple more in.

"Go Grab Your hat and cloak, I'm sure your friends would want to see you before you all come to my Laboratory." Hecate commanded. Mildred grinned, leaving the mess on the table, she came running back in with her cape and Hat.

Hecate smiled when she noticed Mildreds done up laces for once.. Truly, she was looking like a smart witch. Hecate helped on her Cape and Hat, giving her a once over with a nod of Approval.

"Hair, Outfit, Accessories, Face.. I believe, Mildred, there is only one thing missing off your list." Hecate's voice was low, almost a whisper. After the incident earlier, She'd expected HB to still be yelling at her.. Not this unusual steady kindness.

Hecate placed her hand over her Watch, dangling on a perfect Silver chain. It was the absolute symbol of HB. She never went anywhere without it.. In one quick movement, she'd removed it from her own neck, to place it around mildreds, tucking it into her gymslip to not be noticed by the other students.

"The Ancestral artefact needs to be an item of great importance that has been passed down from generation to generation. Usually, It's from your own bloodline, But this will do too. For one night, Take care of it." Hecate explained as she took a step back.

Mildred felt complete. Complete and ever so happy. Nothing could stop the raging smile that came upon her. She'd never seen Hecate without her trusted time teller, let alone expected her to trust her with it.

"Thank you, Hecate! I'll guard it with my life, I promise." Mildred couldn't stop from grinning. She wanted nothing more than to hug Hecate, but.. She felt she's pushed her luck enough for one day. She'd give her a hug late, when she returned the Watch.

"Go." Hecate commanded, further proving Mildreds point, she hated being thanked for things. "And Mildred.. Don't be late." Hecate turned around, marching her way over to her room once more, most likely to finish off getting ready herself.

Meanwhile, Mildred left the teachers' Apartments, running it up the stairs to Maud and Enid. She was surprised to find that Ethel and Felicity were nowhere to be seen, Just Maud and Enid spread out on the floor getting ready.

"Wow, Millie. You look like a real witch.." Maud Said, watching as Mildred closed the door behind her. Enid Stared up at her, holding up the mirror.

Mildred was finally able to get a look at herself. She did look rather smart. Hecate had done her paint well. It was like.. Eyeliner but with a spider web on both corners.

Mildred sat down with her friends and shrugged. "Hecate did it for me.. She even gave me her watch." She pulled the small watch out from under her gymslip.

"No way.. " Enid Spoke with pure wonder.

"She's letting you wear it?" Maud spoke as if her glasses weren't working. "Is that meant to be your Ancestral artefact..?"

Mildred shrugged lightly. "Yea.. I don't know if I have anything from Mirabelle.. So, Hecate's lent me one of hers.."

Enid sat stunned for a moment before saying "Is she like.. Your mom now?"

The Question shocked Mildred. She cared deeply for Hecate. She was the only family she had. They had been forced together, But Mildred found herself wanting to stick there. She Thought back to that first day..

She wanted nothing more than for Hecate to scream and shout at her. To Throw her out as the worthless witch she was. Instead, she helped her. Mildred Lived in her Apartment. She didn't even think of it as Hecates anymore.

She often wondered if she was inserting herself too much in Miss Hardbrooms life. But, There are many indications that show that Miss Hardbroom, too, cares deeply for Mildred. That Mildred was wanted by this makeshift family.

"She's.. Practically family." Is what Mildred decided to settle on. Truth be told, she felt bad everytime she thought Hecate did something even remotely motherly, because it felt like she was invalidating her own mum. But, Mildred was a Hardbroom now. She could have more than one mother, she could have more than two if she really wanted! God help her, she'd thought of Hecate as if she was her mother..

That was a dangerous thought.. Not one that she should be having when Julie could be lurking round any corner…

Anyway, to answer the question from my Last Update - I think The Movie Mildred is the Most Accurate to the Book. When I'm reading it, it's her I see. Though, I don't think there's been a bad version of Mildred. All of them fit with the book in their own way. (Apart from maybe the season 4 recast). My Favourite However, is 2017 Mildred.

MAKE SURE TO LEAVE THAT REVIEW! The Next couple of chapters are gonna be interesting.. (And I will be explaining everything Juile Hubble realllllllll soon!)
