After reading "The Third Faction," by TheMaster4444, and "Right Place, Wrong War," by Mundatorme, I got this idea about Zelretch's shenanigans involving Rin and Shirou, being sent to Fate/kaleid world and so here I am.

Granted, many writers have already written something similar before, but I still want to give it a try.

Anyway, hope everyone will enjoy this story. Sorry in advance for any mistake I might have made regarding Fate. I'm still relatively new to Fate/series lore, so I'm relying on info from the TYPE-MOON wiki.

As always, this chapter was proofread by CrimsonWolf2625.

Chapter 1

Rin was having a good day so far.

Looking back, it's been almost a year now since she had come to the Clock Tower in London to learn more about magecraft to become a proper magus. As an heir of the Tohsaka family and the second owner of the Fuyuki. This was everything she ever hoped for.

However, she didn't come alone.

Her apprentice, her lover, Emiya Shirou, also came to the Clock Tower with her.

Thanks to her action during the Holy Grail war and as an heir of the Tohsaka family, someone from the Clock Tower had taken an interest in her, which ended up with a recommendation letter inviting her to study at the Clock Tower. Furthermore, they also informed her that she was allowed to bring an assistant or apprentice with her.

So naturally, she brought Shirou with her.

But recently, it was regrettable that her boyfriend turned down the offer to join the Mage's Association but Rin could understand why he did.. Regardless, Rin was glad that Shirou would continue to finish his studies in General Fundamentals first before leaving the Clock Tower to pursue his dream.

A journey which she would gladly join to see the world alongside him.

To most Magus', many would question why she would leave behind everything she had and follow some third-rate Magus on some meaningless dream. Instead, she should continue staying at the Clock Tower to pursue the path to becoming a proper Magus.

Rin scoffed at those half-hearted concerns. She couldn't care less about them. They wouldn't understand what she experienced and learned from the Holy Grail war.

After all, Rin had learned something special during the war, and she made a promise to someone important to her. It saddened her greatly that she couldn't save that person. She could only pray that he would eventually find his own salvation from his cruel fate, forever chained by the contract with the collective unconsciousness of mankind itself.

But before he was gone, she made a promise to him. She made a lifetime promise with another Emiya Shirou, turned Counter Guardian, from the distant future of a different timeline.

She vowed to save Shirou from himself.

She vowed to ensure that Emiya Shirou would never become a Counter Guardian, EMIYA.

She vowed to never break her promise until death did they part.

But for now, until the day of their journey began. Her life at the Clock Tower was perfect.

She still had many years to study and spend time in London with Shirou. To fall asleep in his arms every night. To be lulled asleep by the sound of his heartbeat every night. To be woken up by the smell of his cooking every morning. To spend their free time together every day. To go on a date with him when they had time away from studying.

She wouldn't trade this for anything else.

Tohsaka Rin's life was perfect.

"Sherou~!"

Well. It was perfect until Shirou ran into that nouveau riche bitch Edelfelt again in the corridor. Admittedly, to Rin's annoyance, sometimes Shirou was too nice for his own good. Unfortunately, his kindness to others allowed someone like Edelfelt to easily woo her way in and openly flirt with him again.

The nerve of that blonde bitch! Flirting with her boyfriend right in front of her!

Of course, as his master and his girlfriend, she wouldn't just stand around and let that bitch have her way with Shirou again.

After dragging that blonde riche bitch away from Shirou, Rin found herself in yet another self-defense classroom again this week. Again, she used every martial art technique she learned from that damn fake priest, who revealed himself to be her father's killer, against Edelfelt. Additionally, this time she managed to avoid the signature german suplex grip from Edelfelt and kicked her off.

When she saw an opening, Rin quickly nailed her reinforced fist right into Luvia's throat; hopefully, it should bring her down for good this time. She didn't want to spend any more time in this room. She just wanted to spend the afternoon break with Shir–

"Is that the best you got? Perhaps I've underestimated your skill, Miss Tohsaka~" Luvia taunted her. Seemingly unharmed from Rin's almost fatal hit that could have crushed her windpipe.

Turns out nailing Edelfelt in her throat wasn't enough to bring her down.

Ah, screw it. Rin convinced herself that she really had to kill that bitch for good this time.

And so she jumped on Luvia again.

Emiya Shirou softly sighed as he continued stroking his girlfriend's head, who was lying her head on his lap. At first, they planned to have lunch at some local restaurant outside right after morning classes were over. However, before they could leave the Clock Tower together, they ran into Luvia, and Rin had a fight with her again.

Personally, Shirou had no ill feelings toward Luvia. Besides Rin, he actually found Luvia to be one of the few Magus in the Clock Tower that he felt comfortable around and personally enjoyed speaking with. It was rare to find Magus' that wouldn't look down on him for his poor magecraft abilities, especially someone from an aristocratic family like Luvia.

Not to mention that he also worked as a part-time butler for her on many occasions, and he had enjoyed his time working for her so far.

In contrast, Rin seems to have had some sort of archrivalry against Luvia, which often leads to both of them ending up throwing fists at each other in a self-defense classroom, often than not, leaving the room completely destroyed.

"Sh– ou–"

Honestly, he wasn't sure how to stop their bitter rivalry. Then again, he didn't know how to approach and separate them from each other in the first place without getting caught in–

"Shirou!"

"Ah– Y-Yes, Tohsaka?" He was startled by Rin shouting for his attention.

"Mou–! Shirou, you didn't listen to what I was saying," Rin whined.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I promise I'll pay attent– Ouch–! Ouch! Ouch! Wait, Stop! Rin– Stop!" Shirou yelped as Rin playfully smacked him.

"Hmph! That's for not paying attention." Rin cutely pouted at him. She then pushed herself up from his lap and tidied her clothes. "Come on, Shirou. We wasted too much time here. Let's go to that restaurant I talked about." Rin then grabbed her shoulder bag, hopped off the chair, and headed for the exit.

Shirou nodded and followed her closely behind. The couple almost reached the Clock Tower exit, but they were stopped when someone called for Rin.

"Apprentice."

Rin came to a complete halt when she heard that sound calling for her. She quickly turned around to see the last person she wanted to meet today.

Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg.

The Second True Magic-user.

The Wizard Marshall.

The Kaleidoscope.

And also her master.

"Apprentice. Did you forget your appointment with me?" He casually asked.

Rin widened her eyes in panic. She forgot about her appointment with her master! Thanks to that bitch Edelfet, who was also an apprentice to the Kaleidoscope.

"Ma-Master! I'm very sorry, but I didn't mean to-"

The Kaleidoscope raised his hand to stop Rin from speaking.

"Let's not waste more of our time here, apprentice. I promise our appointment won't be long." The Wizard Marshall turned around and headed for his office.

Rin sighed. Knowing her fate, she turned around to her boyfriend.

"I'm sorry about this, Shirou. Can you go ahead without me first? I promise I will catch up with you later."

Shirou nodded. "It's fine, Tohsaka. I guess I will head back to the apar-"

"Actually, apprentice." The Wizard glanced at Shirou. "Bring your underling along. I don't mind an additional attendee."

"Huh? But–!" Rin tried to reason with him, but the Wizard wouldn't hear of it.

"Come on, Chop-Chop! We wasted enough time here." The Wizard Marshall then continued walking ahead, ignoring Rin's complaint.

In the end, Rin tucked Shirou along to Zelretch's office. She had a slight hope that Shirou would be spared from whatever madness her master had planned for her.

Hey, as an apprentice of Zelretch, she could at least pray for some miracle, right?

Once the doors closed, Rin and Shirou sat down on the nearest chair they saw while Zelretch headed for his table and sat down on his personal, comfortable leather chair.

"Apprentice, this is your fault." Zelretch accusingly pointed at Rin.

Rin stared tiredly at her master before sighing. "...I know, master. Let's just get to the point."

"Hmph– You see, my dear apprentice. Suppose you didn't miss the appointment with me. In that case, I would have sent you to participate in some interesting events in another parallel world as a part of your extra assignment."

"Second True Magic?! Wait, never mind that–! What the hell do you mean, extra assignment, master?! I've never heard of you giving one out before!" She knew at some point in her life, she would be sent off to another world to run some errands for her master, according to the notes that her ancestors left behind before they ran away or went crazy.

But she had never heard of an 'extra assignment' before. Her ancestors' notes never mentioned Zelretch ever handing out extra assignments to his apprentices. Besides, she didn't expect to get involved with Second True Magic this early! She had become Zelretch's apprentice not even a year ago yet!

"Well, now you know, apprentice!" Zelretch smirked at Rin's reaction. "Anyway, first I want to send you to gather and exchange some thaumaturgy knowledge with another dimension's magician institution named… I think it was– Ah, yes! Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You could have become a part-time exchange student over there. You know, learning their magic and showing off yours. However, it seems that my other self from another world had already beaten me to it," He grumbled.

"Of course, I didn't give up and continued looking for other worlds, but most of them were also taken by my counterparts! One of them sent his version of you and your beloved to participate in another larger Holy Grail War in Romania." Both Rin and Shirou flinched at the mention of a Holy Grail War, "A shame really. That war looks really interesting. Anyway, you also could have met my other apprentice from another parallel world, but sadly, that was also taken. Oh yeah, her name is Tohsaka Saku–"

"Wait, what did you say?!" Rin shouted before Zelretch could entirely say the name, preventing her boyfriend from learning about Sakura's true identity.

"–The point is that, do you see a pattern here, my apprentice? Almost every interesting event had already been taken by my counterparts from other worlds! All of these missing opportunities to fulfill my downtime at the Clock Tower were caused by your negligence!" Zelretch dramatically shreds a tear.

Rin covers her face with her palms to hide her groan at her master's usual bizarre behavior while her boyfriend nervously looks around the room, not comprehending what madness Rin's master has been ranting about so far.

"I understand now, master. Because I missed an appointment with you, so most of your… interesting worlds? Events? Were already taken by others… you? Right?" Zelretch nodded at Rin's words. "So… I assume this is all you want to discuss with me, master?" Rin asked exhaustedly. She had hopes that–

"Of course not." He replied nonchalantly.

Rin groaned. Why wasn't she surprised? She forgot that she was dealing with Zelretch.

"While most of the interesting events were already taken. I didn't give up and spent a significant amount of my time continuously searching, and wouldn't you believe it?! I've finally stumbled upon one of the rare worlds I've never seen before! At first, everything looked so average I almost discarded it. But then I noticed something different in this world. You see, apprentice. Usually, these particular parallel world scenarios were always the same. They always fixate on these typical boring class cards, Ainsworth, Pandora's box, and yada yada."

"However, this world was different. The class card in this world was tainted by something that I don't even know. Of course, the class card itself was already corrupted from the beginning, but this unknown thing further tainted them even more. So! As an extra assignment, I'm sending you to go to this world to investigate and retrieve at least one of the class cards for me for my personal research project."

'And so that I can add it to my personal collection later.' Zelretch happily thought about his real agenda. But hey, he didn't need to reveal his real agenda yet. It would be much more amusing to see his apprentice's reaction in the grand finale.

"Since this is an extra assignment. It isn't mandatory, right?" Rin asked in deadpan. She got a gist of her master's goal and was about to accept it. But when he mentioned 'class cards,' 'corrupted,' and 'further tainted,' she had a really very bad feeling. So she hoped to find a way to avoid doing this questionable assignment.

"Indeed, apprentice. This is merely an extra assignment from me. You can choose to or to not participate. However," Zelretch then quickly glanced at Rin's boyfriend. "If you choose not to partake, I regret to inform you that these class cards could result in a catastrophic event, which would result in considerable casualties in that world."

"Wait! These class cards could harm innocent people?!" Alarmed by the news, Shirou couldn't stop himself from asking worriedly.

Rin silently cursed at herself for forgetting about Shirou's altruism and furiously glared at her master. She could tell it was a deliberate move by him to drag her boyfriend into this mess.

And to her annoyance, she saw Zelretch smirk at her boyfriend's reaction, confirming her suspicions. "Indeed. If these class cards were left… alone without any external intervention. It could cause significant destruction. A level similar, if not surpassed by… let's say, Fuyuki Great Fire."

Both Rin and Shirou immediately grimaced at the mention of the infamous incident. The fire resulted from the climax of the Fourth Holy Grail War, causing a hell on earth that took many lives.

The cursed flame that gave birth to the broken man known as Emiya Shirou.

"Is there any way I can help?" Shirou asked. But unbeknownst to him, Rin sadly sighed behind him, cursing herself for letting Shirou play right into her master's hand.

"Of course. All you need is to accompany your master. I believe you would be a fine addition to this expedition. But first, ask your master if she's fine with your decision." Zelretch glanced at Rin.

Shirou nodded in delight. He then turned around to face Rin, who stared passively at him.

"Tohsaka?" Shirou sheepishly smiled at her.

Rin sighed then cupped Shirou's cheek in her hand.

"Idiot." She gave him a sad smile. "You don't even need to ask. Knowing you, I know I can't stop you."

"I'm sorry, but this is something that I can't ignore." He hugged Rin to comfort her.

"I know, Shirou. I know." She reciprocated his embrace.

The two then continued enjoying each other's warmth, blissfully ignoring the certain Wizard in the room. But their embrace didn't last long.

"A–hem." The two glanced at Zelretch, who impatiently tapped his shoe. The two blushed and stepped away from each other.

"Damn youngsters these days, have no respect for an elder." The Wizard Marshall mumbled in annoyance. "Now, apprentice. Do you accept this extra assignment?"

Rin gave him another long sigh before finally nodding. "Yes, master. This apprentice humbly accepts your extra assignment." She sarcastically sneered at him.

"Good, good." The Wizard Marshal nodded in satisfaction, ignoring Rin's remark. "Now, without further ado, it's time to begin your journey, apprentice. I do hope you will entertain me." Zelretch said as he began to cast a spell, no doubt a Second True Magic.

Realizing what was about to happen, Rin immediately protested her master's decision of sending them right off the bat.

"Wait! If you're going to send us there now, please let us prepare our belongings first! And you didn't exactly tell us how to find those cards yet?!"

However, to her dismay, her master brushed off her request.

"You worry too much. As your beloved master, I've already prepared everything for you and your precious one. Now go finish your extra assignment and make sure you enjoy your stay over there. Oh yeah, I will send you further instructions later. So just wait for one over there. Good luck and have fun, apprentice!"

The last thing Rin saw before Zelretch snapped his finger and everything went white was his mischievous smile.

Damn the consequences, Rin swore to slap her master in the face once she got back.

Once the white light died down, Rin and Shirou found themselves in a large open field filled with tall grass.

Looking around, the first thing they saw when their eyes properly adjusted to the light was the large traditional-Japanese house in front of them. On their right was a small structure, presumably a storage shed. On their left was another building, that was slightly larger than the previous one, but it still paled in comparison to the large house in front of them. Furthermore, they could also notice that they were surrounded by walls on all sides.

Wait-

These familiar walls, houses, and that familiar-looking small shed that looked like the one Shirou often used as his workshop.

…Shirou's household?

"My house…?" Shirou mumbled to himself, taken back by the state of his household in the parallel world.

The household looked almost identical to Shirou's. However, what stood out and indicated that they were in a parallel world was the state of the household. It looked miserable, as if no one had ever lived here before. There were a couple of holes in the roof, some areas were full of broken pieces of roof bricks scattered around. Below, some windows were broken while most of them were boarded up. The wall's paint had also been also worn off, showing signs of lack of maintenance; some parts of the house's walls were also covered with green moss.

Overall, the state of the house looked awful, to say the least.

Rin glanced at Shirou to see the gobsmacked expression on his face. She couldn't blame him, really; seeing your house in a miserable state like that, she probably would have the same look if she saw her family mansion in ruins.

Rin was about to soothe her boyfriend when she caught a glimpse of something flash above her head, looking up, she saw a bunch of stuff appear out of nowhere in the air and fall to the ground. Lots of bags, piles of clothes, and some jewelry were scattered on the grassy field.

"What the hell– MASTER!" Rin screamed in fury as she realized that the pile of clothes and jewelry on the ground belonged to her! She quickly ran ahead and tried to pick up her clothing and jewels.

Shirou followed along to help Rin pick up their stuff on the ground. However, while picking up clothes, he noticed a dark envelope on the ground. He picked it up and noticed that it was for Rin.

"Umm… Tohsaka. Look at this" Shirou gestured for her to look at the letter he found on the ground.

Rin widened her eyes as she recognized the familiar envelope. She dropped the clothes, took the envelope from her boyfriend, and tore it open. She then read what was written in the letter.

Dear apprentice,

Thank you for accepting this extra assignment provided by your beloved master. As such, you will immediately receive extra credit added to your overall grade for this semester. In addition, you will get more extra credit once you've finished your assignment.

Now let's get to the point.

First, the supplies.

I sent some supplies for you to use during your stay in this world. This includes some devices for locating class cards, clothes, money, and finally, your jewels.

You may ask, where did I find all of these supplies for you? Or how did I find your jewels? Well, before sending you two off, I will admit that I visited your mansion in Fuyuki and your apartment in London. Then as any beloved master would do for their apprentice, I ransac- I mean I carefully went through some of your personal belongings, and packed everything necessary for your trip over there.

I know, I know. I am an awesome teacher, so no need to thank me.

Next, the class card.

As the name implies, the class card has some interesting connections to the servants. Yes, the servant from the Holy Grail War. The class card power had drawn some part of the power from the servants. Now you may think these class cards sound very easy to deal with. And you're right, it's very easy to deal with these cards in most of the worlds.

But not the world you're in right now.

You see. This world's class cards are different from the other parallel worlds. It will be too long to explain, but in short, these class cards in this world are more or less "more corrupt" than the other class cards in the other worlds. Hence why I sent you to this world. To investigate these "tainted" cards.

So here's what I want you to do next.

Apprentice, I want you to steal, negotiate, trade, or do whatever you deem necessary and bring back at least one of these class cards to me. If you actually run into a problem with the Mage Association from that world, just tell me, and I will personally pay them a visit.

Also, the last thing. One month over there is roughly a day here, so don't worry about missing the class. I'm sure Lord El-Melloi the something and Miss Luvia wouldn't mind you two missing for a day or two.

Well, maybe three or four days over here, who knows? Let's pray both of you won't have to spend time over there for too long.

Anyway, yada yada yada, stay safe, blah blah blah, make some new friends over there, and have fun!

Your beloved master,

Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg

P.S. I'm severely disappointed that you never used my wonderful present that I've gifted you long before you attended your study at the Clock Tower. I believe it could assist you in another world, so I'm sending it to you as well. Make sure to try using it. Wait, no– You must use it to obtain a class card.

P.P.S. I almost forgot to mention, but make sure that Emiya Shirou never ever uses the Archer card if not necessary! I'm not certain what could happen to him if he ever tries using it, but at least I'm certain no serious harm would come to him physically if he uses the card, I think? But, unfortunately, I'm not completely sure about the psychological side effects. So better safe than sorry, am I right?

Rin sighed and handed the letter for Shirou to read.

"I see… So all we need to do over here is to locate these class cards and bring one back to your master."

"Seems about right. But did you see what my master wrote at the end?"

"Yes? That I shouldn't use an Archer card unless necessary?"

"...Shirou," Rin gave him a worried look. "I think you should know why you shouldn't use the Archer card."

Shirou looked at Rin before averting his eyes away.

"...Since these class cards draw power from the heroic spirit and the fact that your master specifically warned me not to use it. The Archer card might draw power from him, doesn't it?" He asked as the image of a tanned white-haired man in a red suit appeared in his mind.

"...Yes. And the fact that my master warned me to look out for you is quite concerning. So that's why I'm forbidding you from interacting with the Archer card, Shirou."

"Rin… But we don't really know if it will–"

Rin silenced him. "Shirou... Please."

Shirou was taken back by Rin's reaction. He stared at Rin's worried face for a moment before reluctantly nodding.

"Fine. I… I won't interact with it." Shirou then changed the topic. "Let's just… check what supplies your master gave us." Shirou then turned away while Rin gave him a worried sigh before continuing to collect her clothes and jewels.

After an hour or so of Shirou moving bags of clothes and putting them somewhere else, he noticed a treasure chest that he hadn't seen before appear out of nowhere. He shrugged and chalked it up to Rin's master shenanigans.

"Is this treasure chest yours?" Shirou asked as he walked to the chest and inspected it.

"Treasure chest?"

Rin looked up from her pile of jewels to take a look at the treasure chest. Her eyes immediately widened when she saw the chest before they narrowed into an irritated glare.

"Emiya-kun."

Shirou knew that sickly sweet voice tone all too well. Whenever Rin was angry or pissed off, she always used that voice.

"Yes, Tohsaka?" He asked as he stepped away from the chest and looked at Rin.

"That chest… is my heirloom chest." Rin glared at it. "I'm not certain, but… I think it had a cursed mystic code in there."

"...There's a cursed mystic code inside your heirloom chest?"

"...Yes. So listen to me carefully. I'm not certain, so I'm going to open the chest to check it out. However, just to be safe, I want you to be ready, for if the mystic code escapes from the chest, I want you to destroy it immediately. Understood, Shirou?"

Shirou nodded and traced a bow and a high explosive arrow.

"Wait, what about a bounded field? Shouldn't we–"

"I've already set up a bounded field. Now prepare yourself, Shirou."

Shirou nodded and aimed his traced high explosive arrow at the chest.

Reassured by her boyfriend's actions, Rin took a deep breath and slowly opened the treasure chest that she never ever wanted to see again in her life. She took a peek inside the chest but saw no movement or sound.

"Huh… Maybe it really wasn't that ches–"

"RIN-SAN! YOU'RE BA"

Rin quickly slammed the chest shut again before sighing in despair. "Of Course… I was an idiot for thinking that–"

"Um, Tohsaka..." Shirou said as he lowered his bow and untraced his arrow. "What was… that thing?"

Rin looked at him for a moment before sighing to herself again. For a second, she thought it was just the same-looking chest, just like the one inside her mansion. But of course, her master had to send her the damn chest that contained that damn stick inside.

Besides, she really didn't want to explain what that abomination stick was to her boyfriend. The trauma it left behind was too humiliated to her liking.

"That… thing inside the chest is a Kaleidostick Mystic Code created by my master, Kaleidoscope. It was given to me many years ago before the Fifth Holy Grail War. It's the most powerful Mystic Code that I have," Rin revealed.

"Wait. You had this powerful Mystic Code with you all this time?" Shirou asked in bewilderment. "Then why didn't you use it to fight Cast–"

"I would rather die than ever using this stupid wand again."

"Rin–" Shirou frowned at Rin's response and was about to retort, but his girlfriend's glare quickly silenced him.

"Shirou. You need to understand first that, indeed, it's a very powerful Mystic Code. However, the downside is that it's a very loudmouth Mystic Code that often causes headache problems for its master and also has almost no respect for me whatsoever."

"But Rin-san, your taste in fashion was so horrible for your sorry-size chest! As such, to make up for your horrible fashion taste and laughable chest, I merely showed your friend at your school how cute you would look in"

"Shirou," Rin said coolly, glaring daggers at the chest. "Destroy it now."

Shirou sighed, "Rin… Please calm down. I agree with you that it's… as annoying as you said, but I think it's just messing with you right now. So it couldn't be that harmful, right?"

"Not harmful? Just messing with me? Shirou, you have no idea what that thing did to me!" Rin pointed at the chest. "I used that stick one time, and the next thing I remember, everyone in middle school gave me a weird look for the rest of the year there. Nobody told me what I did, but it must've been so bad that I had to personally alter all of my classmates' memories."

"Hmph–! You don't have to be shy, Rin-san!" A muffled voice from the chest called out. "Perhaps I could show him how cute you were in magical girl clothes"

"Shirou. As your master and your girlfriend. If that damn wand speaks a single word more, I want you to destroy it with everything you have in your reality marble. I don't care if it breaks the bounded field."

This time Rin's threat seemed to work as the wand immediately shut its mouth for good. Not daring to provoke Rin's wrath.

Shirou sighed again. "I'll admit that I'm more than happy to do just that. But, I believe your… master must have his reason for sending it here for us. If I remember correctly, he did mention that we need to use it to obtain a class card, right? Then in the meantime, we could just keep it somewhere else until we need to use it. Perhaps the shed will do for now."

Rin pondered his words for a moment before groaning in annoyance. She hated to admit it, but she realized that what Shirou said held some validity. Rin admitted that her master must have good reason enough to send the Kaleidostick to this world with her.

"Urgh– fine! You have a point there…." Rin sighed and gave him a small smile. "Thank you, Shirou."

"No problem, Tohsaka." He smiled in return.

However, their moment was ruined when Kaleidostick spoke again despite Rin's recent threat.

"Kyaaa! Rin-san finally got herself a boyfriend! The impossible has become possible!" The wand cried. "But~ I do feel sorry for that poor man who got yoU- AHHHHHHHH-!" The Mystic Code screamed for its life when Rin reinforced her legs and delivered a kick that sent the chest flying into the shed through the opened doorway.

"Shut up, Ruby!" Rin huffed before turning around to face Shirou. "Now, since we're done with that chest. Let's check out your house, shall we?"

To Shirou's dismay, the whole household was covered with dust and spider webs in almost every room and corridor. Not to mention that he couldn't make anything for dinner tonight because the kitchen section was also covered with dust, and most of the kitchenware was too dirty to be used. He would have to buy new kitchenware sets and some portable stoves later.

After they finished checking out the house, the pair decided to move most of their supplies to the living room. They also cleaned up the bathroom so they could at least clean themselves tonight.

For the bedroom, Rin decided that they didn't have much time to clean up, so she picked the room that required the least effort to clean. The room she randomly picked turned out to be Shirou's room. Or it was supposed to be his room back in their world.

While both were busily cleaning a room to use for sleep tonight, Shirou's thoughts began to drift again. Looking back at what that Mystic Code said, he actually wondered what Rin would look like in this so-called ''magical girl" clothing. Would she really look like those absurd anime magical girls he saw on the televi-

"Emiya-Kun." Rin's voice startled him. He turned around to see Rin looking sharply at him.

"Y-Yes?"

"... You're thinking something weird about me, aren't you?"

Damnit. How did Rin know?

"No, I-I didn't." Shirou stuttered.

"..."

"I swear, I really didn't imagine you in the magica–" Shirou realized he had said too much and shut his damn mouth. However, the damage had been done.

"Shirou..." Rin growled.

"..."

"...I'm sorry."

Shirou spent the rest of the night begging Rin for her forgiveness. In the end, Rin eventually forgave him and later fell asleep in his arms.

On the next morning, after waking up and cleaning themselves, both Rin and Shirou prepared to explore this parallel world. But, first, they dug through the pile of clothes that Zelretch ransacked from their apartment in London and picked out clothes to conceal their identity.

Rin changed from her red shirt to a white turtleneck, covered with a long red coat. She still wore the same black skirt and black thigh-highs.

For Shirou, he changed from his white t-shirt and light green collar cardigan to a light black t-shirt with a gray trench coat.

Additionally, to avoid getting recognized by the people who could remember their face or hair. Rin chose to untie and free her ponytail while Shirou opted for a black beanie to cover most of his red hair.

Both of them also got themselves a pair of dark sunglasses. They didn't remember having ones before, so they assumed Zelretch was behind this.

"Emiya-kun. You look good in those clothes." Rin praised as she looked over Shirou's new attire.

Shirou blushed and scratched his head.

"You too. You're… stunning." He admitted.

Rin smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Now then… About our work for today." Rin looked for something inside her handbag. She pulled it out and in her hand was some sort of compass device. Shirou could tell it wasn't a normal compass though.

"This…?"

"It's a magecraft compass. A modified one." Rin said. "I found it among the stuff that the master provided for us. The note that came with the compass said that these compasses would help us find the class cards' location."

Shirou nodded as he took the compass from Rin's hand. He then placed it inside his pants pocket.

"I will explore the area around our old school, and my mansion, assuming if my counterpart did exist in this world. How about you, Shirou? Where are you going to explore?"

"Guess I'll look around the city. I might check out the area near the bridge, too, just in case."

Rin nodded. "Good. Also, If you need to contact me–" Rin placed a gem in Shirou's hand. "–Hold this gem. It works as a communication mystic code."

Shirou nodded and took the gem.

The couple then ran a last-minute check-up before leaving their residence. Soon both went on their separate ways to find class cards and perhaps check out this parallel world along the way.

Shirou had been walking around the city the whole day. But, to his disappointment, the compass didn't show any reaction so far. So he assumed that these class cards weren't located here. But deep down, he was glad that the class card didn't reside in the city. He preferred those dangerous cards being far away from the populated areas.

While searching for the card, Shirou also checked out the city and every significant location. He then compared this world, Fuyuki city, with his world.

Throughout the day, Shirou noticed the difference between this world and his.

For one, there was no Fuyuki Central park. Instead, it was replaced with a largely residential district filled with various buildings and apartments. Furthermore, the air was… easier to breathe than in his park. It felt refreshing.

Shirou wasn't a genius like Rin, but he wasn't a fool either. Thus, he easily came to a realization of what had happened in this world.

There was no Fuyuki Great Fire in this world.

Which meant that Emiya Shirou, the adopted son of Emiya Kiritsugu, did not exist in this world.

Right?

Shirou frowned and clenched his hand. He felt conflicted inside. On the one hand, he was glad that the people that should have died in the great fire were alive in this world. So everyone would be living a happy life. But on the other hand, Emiya Shirou might… not exist in this world.

It was… It was hard to… explain how he felt right now.

I'll fulfill your dream on your behalf.

If he didn't exist here…

Your dream, just leave it to me.

Then who would…?

Shirou shook his head and took a deep breath to calm himself down. His mistake was thinking too much again. Instead, he should have focused on the card first. So far, he hadn't found any class card location. Looking around the city, Shirou realized he still had one last place to check out for any class cards.

And so he headed for the Fuyuki bridge.

By the time Shirou had reached Fuyuki's iconic bridge, the sun had already set.

Walking around the area near the bridge, Shirou suddenly felt a pulse from his pocket. He quickly took out the compass and looked at it, and he wasn't disappointed this time because the compass was activated and pointed towards a location near the bridge.

"So one of the class cards is here…." He mumbled to himself. Shirou then took out a piece of paper and noted down the Fuyuki bridge as the location where the card was found.

As he was writing down on the paper, he suddenly heard the noise of an explosion. It didn't sound very loud, but he could still tell it was an explosion.

"What was that?" Shirou looked around alarmingly, hoping to find where these sounds came from. Then he heard another muffled explosion, but this time he could feel it was from above.

He then caught a glimpse of light flashing in the sky, confirming the location of the explosion.

"What the–" Shirou enhanced his eyes to get a better look. And he was caught off guard by what he discovered in the sky.

"–Oh, you have to be kidding me." Shirou cursed his luck. Who would have thought he would really get what he wished for.

However, Rin probably wouldn't be pleased to see this.

After inspecting her counterpart's mansion and school, she finally found one of the cards in the school.

For her mansion, at first, she considered breaking in to check out her counterparts' mansion when she saw that no one lived there, but she later dismissed the idea when she found that the bound field around the mansion was still active. Which meant someone was still living there.

As for the Horumahara high school, Rin had to wait until all the students left the school, which meant she had to wait until when the sun had almost set before inspecting the school without any potential witnesses. She still had a bad recollection of what happened to the witness in the high school when it came to the moonlit world business.

To this day, she still shudders at the sight of Shirou's lifeless body bleeding out on the floor, stabbed in the heart by Lancer.

Once she finished inspecting the school grounds where the card was located by her compass, Rin left the school and then continued strolling in a nearby neighborhood, searching for other cards and checking out if anything was different from her world. She noticed that some buildings and streets were different, but most had remained the same.

While walking alone in the street, she heard Shirou's voice through their shared gems link.

"Tohsaka, are you busy?"

"Hm? I'm free right now. What do you need, Shirou?"

"…Can you see the Fuyuki bridge from where you are right now?" Rin noticed that Shirou sounded… amused?

She looked around herself for a moment before seeing the familiar bridge not far from where she was walking.

"Yeah, I can see the bridge from here. What did you find, Emiya-kun? Did something happen over there?" She asked worriedly.

"Ah no. I'm fine. I found a class card location near the bridge. But" Rin heard Shirou snicker. "I– I also found something else too."

"What is it, Shirou?" Rin asked curiously.

"I– I don't think I can explain this one. J-Just look above the bridge." He chuckled.

Above the bridge?

Rin reinforced her eyesight and looked above the bridge to find what Shirou wanted her to see. At first, she didn't see anything in the dark sky until she caught a red glimpse of a–

Oh.

So that's why Shirou sounded like he really wanted to laugh so hard.

There above the Fuyuki city bridge was her younger self, floating in the air with the Kaleidostick Mystic Code in her hand. Was that her Mystic Code or one from this world? Rin didn't know nor care yet.

Because right now, Rin was focusing on her counterparts' attire. Her parallel self was wearing the most ridiculous outfit she had ever seen in her life! A red-white garment with a white-pink cloak, red leggings, and dark red boots. Her counterpart looked like one of those weirdos who attended those weird "cosplay" summit things in London.

And were those a pair of cat ears and a tail?!

Rin pinched her nose in annoyance. She was really starting to hate this world.

She blamed Zelretch for this.
